That error isn't important, unless you're trying to load something from a device connected via OTG cable. It's just letting you know that it's not finding the OTG storage, so if you need it you know to look into that. Flash the latest TWRP from Odin. Boot to recovery and factory reset, no Odin doesn't wipe. Then flash stock with Odin. See if you can boot and sit without looping. Don't screw with it, just let it sit for a bit and settle. Just watch for 5min or so to see if it loops. It's probably bad data and factory reset will fix it. The stock flash it just to make sure you have a known good base. If it doesn't loop in 5min or so, it's probably fine. If it does, try getting a logcat. There's not much anyone can do to help without more information at that point.
No signal and baseband unknown could be a corrupted EFS. You DID back that up didn't you? Does the IEMI show in the settings? Try booting without a SIM. If that's the problem, it might help.

How did you back it up? TWRP should be able to restore it if you used that. If not, I would need to find the partition number and you would use dd to write it. I've never had to mess with it on the Note 3. What's the filename of your backup file? You might need to decompress it first.

i used the efs backup tool posted somewhere here i also did a backup with a diferent tool the firstone gave me a efs.zip that contains a efs.raw.img and also a efs.tar files is that what i need ? i did the backup when everything was working normal

ill try anything you can help with even if it doesnt work or ends up on a hard brick would you be able to help me via teamviewer?

Can you hook the phone up to kies and do a restore that way? Just give it your serial number and it does the rest. It will restore all partitions including your efs. Have restored a couple friends phones this way which appeared to be unrecoverable in one way or another....

I'm almost for a loss as my understanding when using kies it re writes all partitions of the phone. I've restored a couple phones that way for friends that were completely borked. 'Missing imei etc.'
It asked for the serial number and showed successful when done?

[Q] Help... MEID, BASEBAND version, etc unknown.

I have a Galaxy Note 2 on the sprint network. Yesterday someone sent me a text and i tried to sent them a text back but my phone didn't have a signal. It reset itself a bunch of times. It stopped resetting and now there is no signal to the tower. I looked on my phone and Baseband version, network, mobile network type say unknown. service state is out of service, username is unavailable. mobile network state is disconnected, my phone number is unknown, min unknown, prl version unknown, meid unknown, imei unknown, iccid unknown. device status modified.
I rooted my phone when i first got it with the method that doesn't make your flash counter go up. I had super user installed and had the OTA survival mode checked and did the OTA update for multiwindow and then lost root. This wasn't a big deal to me so I just left it alone, everything worked. Its been a couple of months and then this happened. I reflashed a stock rom on the phone and that didn't fix anything. I rooted it with the Samsung Note 2 toolkit and that went well. But it somehow got stuck on the boot screen again after a while so i just reflashed to stock.
I downloaded QPST and entered my IMEI into the nv line 550 and clicked the write NV block and returned an error. Im stuck. I have insurance and I've only had the phone a couple of months. What the heck happened? Was it somekind of wipe? I have been working on this all day and I'm going to bed now, but can someone help me out?
I would not have been so quick to start messing with qpst.In most cases where ive seen this the imei and related numbers were fine and it was a system screw up. That said,This happened to me recently and even odin wouldnt fix it. I ran THIS and it brought me back so I would try that first.

thanks. I am downloading that now and will try it and let you know. I didn't want to start messing with qpst but i saw a tutorial that you can enter your imei back into your phone with it. i got my numbers off the box and went to work. but qpst would not write the values into my phone.
when i plug the usb into the phone a flag pops up in windows and says hardware id is missing as well.

i went to the link. i downloaded the file. it was a zip file so i put it on an sdcard and slapped it in my phone. i used the vol up, home key, and pwr key and then i used the update from zip file on external storage. it did some stuff and rebooted. i checked my flash counter and it went up and said i was running custom, custom.
i didn't see any instructions with your post that you linked and I probably didn't use that file the way it was supposed to be used. how exactly do you use it? and when i turned my phone on it still said baseband unknown.
thanks again for helping me with this.

Do you have Root Explorer? If baseband is showing unknown makes me wonder if build.prop is there and complete...?
It needed flashed in a custom recovery. Did u use twrp or cwm to flash it? If so, you did it right. Is it only the baseband thats unknown or everything still? Did you try a ##72786# dialer code reset?

everything is still unknown.
when i dial ##72786# it goes to a meny labeled SCRTN but is blank with no options.
at this point I used triangle away and flashed the stock rom on my phone, it keeps randomly resetting. in the setttings it still has baseband unknown. i did the ota update and the build number is JROO3C.L900VPALJC
under status, everything is unknown and at the botton it says device modified.
when i put it into download mode right now it says custum binary: no ; current binary: samsung official; system status: custom
this started when the phone just started resetting a bunch after my buddy texted me and then it didn't have service and all the values were wiped, i just want to take it back to sprint because ive only had it for a couple of months. will the above values be ok for a trip to the sprint store?

I had this happen to me when I first got the phone and rooted. Scariest first day of ownership thought I was going to have to go in to sprint. Thankfully I flashed the full stock tar and my phone came back to life. Maybe you should try flashing it and see how it turns out for you.

I went back to full stock with :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769
i also went baclk to full stock using the samsung note 2 toolkit and triangle away.
both methods left me with custom binary as no and current binary as samsung offical, but system status says custom.
both ways.
and the screenshots that i posted earlier are the same.
i found this thread:

and i think i have a corrupt EFS.
as it is, does the spring store take your phone back if system status is custom and device says modified?
b.) if i can fix it, it would be better than taking it back. everything on the phone still works, but it obviously cant see a cell phone tower or make calls. data on wifi only type deal.
thanks for any help...

I'm not familiar with that EFS issue since I've never read about it. However I would try that tar I posted as a last resort since the stock zip didn't do anything for you. The issue you're describing is the exact same thing that happened to me and that tar brought me back. And about being custom/modified it all depends on the Sprint Rep you get. Some are cool about it some are not.

Update-
my phone is screwed. i got the MSL and put it in my phone and nothing happens. i have to take it back and get a new one.even though all the hardware works, just cant program the info back in the phone for meid, baseband, username, icc id, etc. etc. so no voice calls.
the bummer is that this all happened randomly. i wasn't messing with my phone at all and it was running great then it reset a bunch of times and then wiped everything. i don't know if it would have helped, but i highly reccomend everyone backing up their EFS. because you never know when this will happen to you.
take care, thanks for the help everyone.

[Q] Werid issue where my GS3 is stuck in Factory Mode

Let me start by saying I've read through several other threads with a similar issue, but they all have a common connectivity problem that I'm NOT experiencing so I thought I'd ask this in a new thread. I was using AOKP build 5, and I decided to try out a more TW stock rom to see how devs have modified it. I chose Intergalactic v 2.8, wiped data/cache and installed like ya do. Almost immediately I got the pop up saying, "Unfortunately, Factory Test has stopped." I didn't think much of it, even though I had never seen it before. I restored my app data via Titanium Backup and starting fiddling with my settings. Made a couple calls, a few texts. Put my phone down to go about my morning. Later when I went to unlock my phone I realized I don't have a lockscreen. Thought that was funny so I went to boot into recovery but punching the power button just turned the phone off; So I investigated and I realize I'm in factory mode. and I can't seem to get out of it. I've tried running the terminal commands to turn it off, but that didn't work. It looks like my ESF folder is empty or doesn't exist.
So here's what I know after all of my research: My IMEI somehow seems to be intact since I can make calls and get on the network, but because my ESF is empty or gone can't turn off factory mode, which is causing all kinds of other buggy issues such as no lockscreen, no power menu, and the annoying Factory Test pop-up. If there is a thread out there that had a similar problem, I apologize that I couldn't find it. is there any way to recover this info, since the IMEI is still intact? Thanks.

Tried to restore the stock JB with Odin and it didn't fix the problem. I'm attempting to flash the stock ICS, then attempt an OTA update to see if that does the trick. Will keep you posted.
So I flashed ics and then allowed AT&T to push my JB update to me OTA. Still in factory mode. I guess I'll just have to investigate this more thoroughly. I'm using widget locker as a work around for my lockscreen, but still no power menu and the popups are still showing up every now and then. Super annoying, but at least my phone is still functioning. If anyone has any other ideas I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Don't be skittish. It really and truly is the only way to get everything back to how it should be. Ton's of people have tried it and this allows you to push the IMEI back into your phone the way it came from the factory. It's not for spoffing or doing anything illegal.
Now its usually for replacng a lost IMEI from flashing a ROM. Sometimes happens when going from a non-stock type ROM (i.e. CM or AOKP) to stock type ROM (i.e TW)
Search on how to push files with ADB and you should be good to go
BE CAREFUL though and don't skip steps or go fast.
I meant to ask...can you use your phone ? does data work ? Have you tried to get into download mode ?
If you can then download good manager and select reboot into recovery or any other number of apps that let you boot into recovery without having a power menu

Yeah, the phone works perfectly other than a lack of lock screen, no power menu, and the pop ups that annoyingly show every once in a while. Download mode works, and I pushed stock back to my device using ODIN. It now occurs me me to wonder if I might have had a different result if I had flashed my stock rom using ADB.

I tried turning it off with terminal emulator at one point last night, but it didn't seem to work, I THINK because the EFS folder is empty. I'll have to re-root tonight and try it again since I've restored my stock firmware.
It may seem like I'm shooting down every suggestion you guys throw at me, but I really appreciate the input. XDA is a big place and I tried to be very thorough when searcing for a solution before posting this thread, but I'm sure there's something out there I've missed. Thank you for your efforts.
I think I found something that will allow me to restore a generic EFS here:

Asked the originator if it will work to restore my files. If so, gonna try it when I get off work tonight.

Ah exactly what I have been looking for on this one for you. I found a few that explained how to push your old EFS folder with ADB but none about making another. How crazy it was yesterday it popped up on a post. That looks like your best shot as you folder seems to be corrupted and although IMEI is intact you need a new one folder that is intact. Let us know how it turns out
Can you hit me with the stuff you found about pushing it through ADB? My efforts have been less than fruitful on that front. I'd rather be armed with as much information as possible.

Sprint LG G2 Boot looping

hello,
This morning i was using my phone like every day, but i notice that i had no signal so i decided to restart the phone. When it restarted out of nowhere the phone started to boot loop.. i didnt do anything for it to start doing that.. after a long while trying to fix it i gave up and got into recovery and decided to clean install the rom. It did install but after 1 minute of being on the screen it would boot loop.. I download it the same rom and installed it and still kept doing the same thing.. i had a back up so i decided to install it which i did but again after 40 seconds of start up it would boot loop.. finally, i decided to use the LG Flash tool TWICE and it did work but again after a little while the phone turns off and on.. idk what lese to do??? any ideas?
Check if it displays your IMEI in the Settings. If not you should check if you've got a EFS Backup.

OHH wow!! so im basically stock with a brand new phone that boots on and off ..Wow.. well if you ever find an answer can you please share it with me!!! thank you in advance.
I have no idea what kind of backup you are talking about but could we use it from another G2?
Maybe this will help you find out what a EFS-Backup is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451390
I've seen the question somewhere else (to use a backup from another g2) and they said, that it will boot but don't login into the network, cause you'll get a IMEI with 00000 or something like this.
Don't know a answer. I think I must send my G2 to LG and pay a lot of money IF they'll fix it.

OHH i see what you mean... I have added EFS backup to the IOroot scripts so that everyone that roots will have a copy of their EFS partitions on the computer you run IOroot from. Regardless, this current thread will still be a good "heads up" and an alternative for those who insist on using other shady root methods or for those who just want another way to back things up.
I did use IOroot, does that mean that if i connect it to the computer and try to root it again it would fix it? you think???

In the Thread is a step-by-step tutorial how to restore EFS-Files. Make a Backup of these 2 files before you root your phone again! Don't know, if those 2 files got overwritten (maybe with the damaged data) when you root your phone again.
Fixed my phone

Well just wanted to let you know that i sent my phone to LG for them to fix it. They didnt charge me and all they did was re-flash the rom. if you havent fixed it you should try sending it to them.

[Q] No Imei and "baseband unknown" Please help! Really weird!

So, this is a long process I've been through-- First thanks so much for just taking the time to read this and any input would be awesome
I tried to flash a new slimkat 4.4.2 rom today and it flashed fine came up had service all was well except I think i did it as a "dirty" flash. I don't want to think any errors possible would be from that so i immediately did a "clean" flash and wiped everything except external sd-card in TWRP
Rebooted and noticed i didn't have any signal or data. First thought was modem so I started flashing MJ4 and reboot, nothing, so I flashed MK6 and reboot, nothing, so i changed to CWM recovery and flashed them, nothing, then at this point i just want a phone back doesn't even matter so i always seem to have several ROMS on my phone so i flashed another Sky Note 4.3 and reloaded nothing... So i started really wondering now and looking at my baseband to see what it said and noticed "Unkown Baseband" and Imei "unkown" (All while at work) So I came home did a little research while trying various other roms and none worked. So I read one way is to use Kies and do a "firmware upgrade initialisation"
Now it rebooting and completed going back to 4.1.2 CAMA4 and i still have nothing.. So I flashed UCALJ modem (Which should work as well) and I still have no data or signal because of unknown IMEI and Baseband. I don't really care about using triangle away or not, but i can get around and flash roms and everything thats what I don't understand.
Oh I did use CF-autoroot to install TWRP to install the modem as a .zip
Any ideas I would love you forever!!!

Lesson learned... no backup
I'm going to try and repair (backup and re-put) my EFS folder there, but how do i tell if its a complete EFS folder or if it is damaged? On the note 2 ATT is there a way to manually put in your IMEI? or reasons why this couldn't be my problem please

Last time this happened to me, a very long night, I had a guru on hangouts with me and we tried everything we could think of..
Only thing that got me back was a restore of an old backup, as a wild ass last resort.... Lost my mind when it worked
This problem is not weird, unfortunately it's common.
Starting surfing for your error and read read read.... I've had a long fricking day ..
Like a maniac I'm trying to port over a 7100 ROM.. I get that error also.
Only thing that gets it back is restoring a backup rom that had an efs backup in it.

I've been reading and reading with nothing coming out of it other then how to fix it on alot of other samsung phones. I can't seem to find a way to re-build and manually enter my own IMEI (because i know the IMEI) Driving me nuts!! but thanks for your reply
EFS folder anyone?
Any chance i can get a copy of someones EFS folder so that i can edit the .nv_data and add my IMIE? Please of a ATT Note 2

Sadly no...
It is both illegal...and unethical for someone to give you a copy of an EFS folder...
It contains the user data and carrier information for the device...making the folder private...and unique to it's owner ....g

I have done official firmware and over odin and before that Kies recovery. Also, knew it wasn't smart but didn't know it was illegal.
Any idea's for programs that will scan for deleted folders? or other ways to re-build EFS or .nvdata?

I was going to try this but didn't have to because I found a backup with my efs. I was going to try putting a new sim in and see if phone would see it and rebuild.
Actually was going to pull the sim out of my wife's note 2 and try it.

So I tried from my wifes sim today with no avail. Still don't have my phone and wondering if there is any way to recover it? Do i try to set it back to stock everything fix the flash counter then call samsung? I don't think its under warranty anymore since i've had it for almost 2 years. I know its a long shot but I wonder if taking it to one of those "cell phone repair" places would be any help? I'm out of options and actually had to drop back to my old HTC Inspire

Yea, the sim deal was to simple to work...
So never heard I don't think. What were you on before you flashed slimkat? Did you do the 4.3 OTA update?
Have you tried flashing an original rom with the Pit file? That's your last resort, EFS is unique to each phone by using someone's else's this is illegal as your modifying the IMEI. I've had efs issues in the past but always had a backup to hand. Try flashing everything with a pit file if that doesn't work then you will have to take it in for repair, Samsung official could do it but don't know what they will charge as it's out of warranty or maybe a local phone repair shop could do it or someone with jtag services can do it perhaps too.

I was on another 4.4 rom before I went to slimkat
What is a pit file? I don't know much about it and is there a "trusted" guide on how to use one with the Note 2? I mean I'm familiar with Odin so I know its there but I've never had to use one

Here's the info...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609871
A couple of other people are having worse problems like not being able to flash a recovery in ODIN or a ROM saying it can't read partitions. That's a good choice for a PIT flash.
But I'm reading and reading and everything is saying, yep that will work.... IF you then have the efs backup to restore

Thanks so much for the help!! I'm just worried that its not going to fix it and only make it worse possibly. I can't find how to pull my PIT file to analyze it so my next option is... Call a professional tomorrow... I'm going to call because apparently a "Z3X box" will fix my phone in like 3 minutes. I will post back though letting people know in the future whether they can or not. Because of legal reasons I don't know if they can even write my own IMEI back to the device. Will post back though regardless after tomorrow when I call them.
This happened to me a while back and I just flashed back to stock using Odin and all was fine

GREAT NEWS!
So I got desperate and realized this was going to take a professional. I called around to my local "cell phone repair" shops that really only know how to change the screen and asked about recovering the EFS file. It started out: "Hi can I talk with someone knowledgeable about the Android file system?" and every time the person said they were an "expert" So I said "I deleted or corrupted my EFS file and I need a repair for it" and EVERY time they told me they had no clue what I was talking about. I read and read everything I could find on the internet and most pointed me to some international "send you phone here" and of course I'm very skeptical of shipping my phone just about anywhere. So I found a person in the US at mobiletechvideos.com and looked him up with the BBB and found reviews from multiple sources.
I can say mobiletechvideos.com is legit and awesome! Josh fixed my phone and repaired the IMEI in less the 10 minutes remotely. I have my note 2 back! Please do not hesitate to give this guy a try he is legit and really down to earth guy. This thread can end here because whatever he did I have no clue but it worked!
Also a lot cheaper then I though it was going to be

That is great news. Congrats ! How in the world did he do it remotely ?????

I think i brokekeded it HELP!

Hi guys,
Being the arrogant bigheaded know-it-all that I am I thought I could do this by myself. Alas I was wrong.
I was attempting to carrier unlock my s4 mini (i9195) on EE, I rooted it first which was a success. I then tried the "regionlockaway" approach which claimed to be a success but after several reboots was not =[
I then delved deeper into the forums and read that it may work if i were to odin flash my device to MJ7.
I followed the steps of un checking the auto-reboot and F. reset boxs and proceded to put phone into "odin mode" and then Flash, disconnect, power off, boot back into odin mode, reflash and then boot normally.
This went horribly wrong. my poor little phone is very confused. it doesn't know its baseband and is displaying IMEI null.
I have done some further research and all post seem to say I must reflash to original ROM or inject IMEI?
I cannot find the required ROM files and IMEI injection, unless as simple as "download file x, insert IMEI from phone sticker into box x, flash with program x and all will be fine" then I am stuck in a lonely phoneless place.
PLEASE HELP ME! and i promise I wont try these things again!
Thanks in advance guys!
Not an expert at trying to restore IMEIs but maybe try flashing the latest unbranded firmware ... Though the download is slooow but it's worth a shot http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/48645/I9195XXUCOD3_I9195BTUCOD1_BTU/
Also just for the future your best to save EFS folder from your phones root. Also developer Wanam does a partition backup tool which will allow you to backup and restore your EFS.
