Hi all,
While I was using my One X this evening, an error popped up on the notification bar (pictured below). Selecting it came up with a vague login box. I couldn't work out what it was for, the username (which I've obscured for privacy reasons) was a series of numbers. Going through to app info comes up with Android System as the process.
Anyone know what the problem is or what it could be in relation too?
Thanks
try a factory reset ...if you are not rooted go into settings and somewhere there should be a place with the option to put the phone to stock ...if you use a custom rom try reflashing it or flash another or so

Grab the bar and pull it down so it's on the bottom of your screen instead of on the left side. Do you have an edit button now?

screenshot 2: 2 videoplayer icons
no reason for this
OH!!! now i remember the biggest change i did lately...
a couple of days ago...i installed a .apk file to open flash animated web sites...then i had to install Firefox, because ive read that it is the only one browser that can browse flash sites...after installing that small file...i downloaded it somewhere on a forum of developers...not here...i dont remember where...but i was happy because it worked...i can now see flash sites on firefox...
could be an issue with the sidebar??? mmmmmm
But...i repeat...I HAVE NEVER EVER seen the edit button since the first day i had the baby....
This is strange indeed. Your warranty should covers software issues right? If so, you can take it to them and tell them the problem.
But first you should do a Factory Reset of the phone and see if it solves it (warning: this will delete your data).
You could also flash a new stock rom that has the sidebar working properly over your existing rom.

My warranty should cover the issue...as the i bought the phone 10 days ago...
With the Factory Reset i loose everything? Installed appz...contact numbers...settings and so on?
I contacted samsung italy by phone, the girl didnt understand a ****...obviously...but she took notes, registered my issue with a number, and she told me they will call me back when they know more.
Will post news here.
Thx for you attn Moh!

Backup your stuff, reinstall firmware (Kies or Odin).
Setup scripts might have failed on first startup.
Yes, factory reset restores your phone to its original state, so it deletes everything. However, things like contacts, messages, settings, call logs can be backed up easily though through Google and Samsung servers. Also make sure to backup your music, videos, pictures and other media files stored in your internal memory to your PC, as they will be deleted as well. So basically you can restore these things easily, the only thing that you have to restore manually are your apps.
(if you're rooted you can backup your apps and their data using Titanium backup and similar apps, but since you're not rooted you have to download and install them again if you decide to reset).
Who's your provider? My phone is branded by T-Mobile. It seems that the branded models of the n7105 all have this issue. Mine is 3 days out of the box and I'm having the same problem. No edit button and some apps doubled.
I've read similar issues in other forums - all with the 7105 Models

thx for your attn twofive!
The startup fail could be a good point...mmm...
Please, give just a few words about reinstalling the firmware...
I just have to connect the phone with a PC with Kies...and then i have to choose 'firmware upgrade'?
Or i should do the hard reset from the phone menu then connect with pc and kies and proceed with the upgrade??
mmmm....need help on this...

Thx Moh...now i Have the complete view of my phone's future
as i wrote...the hard reset will do again the start up of the firmware automatically? or i have to connect with Kies later?
The factory reset should restore your phone as you first bought. (remember the first day you opened the phone, when it asked you to enter your google account, samsung account, dropbox account etc etc) that's what a factory reset does, it restores the phone to "factory" state-- hence the name. You don't have to connect to kies later.
If after factory reset you still have the problem, then that means that they gave you a buggy software, and you can tell them that.
To be honest? If I were in your position I would probably root my phone, find appropriate firmware in www.sammobile.com, and flash that in my phone through Odin. However, I didn't recommend this route to you as you seem to be inexperienced in doing this kind of stuff and it may void your warranty (or worse, brick your phone) if you don't know what you're doing. That's why I suggested factory reset, which can be done from the phone itself, it is perfectly safe to do, and doesn't require any experience to perform.
Hi Everyone. I damaged my Sprint Galaxy S 3 and it was replaced under the insurance plan. 3 days before damaging the phone I backed the Rom up with Clockworkmod Rom Manager. When I receiving the replacement phone I compared the version and build that each phone had installed on them and they were the same. I proceeded to root the new phone and installed Clockworkmod Rom Manager. I then restored the rom from the damaged phone to the new phone. Everything went OK and worked fine after restoring the ROM. I fell asleep happy. The next morning I woke up to an alert that my phone had a new update from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 so I installed the update. After the update finished I tried to access my contact list and the phone froze up. I had to remove the battery to reboot. After rebooting I tried to access the contacts again same issue. Then I forced a sync. Still the same issue after syncing. I then rooted the new 4.1.2 install that was pushed to my phone, because the install took the root priveliges away (it rooted fine). After rooting all the issues remained it still froze when I tried to access the Contact list . After clicking the Contact icon a new blank page comes and then freezes. I tried opening the phone icon and no dialer came up. Instead it was a list of a few names (mainly the contacts left over from the old phones log or recent calls list.). If I and slid the name to the right, it would dial the phone and work fine. If I slid the name to the left the messege app came up and worked fine. However if I clicked the name it would freeze the phone. There was not an option to select a dialer anywhere. I did not even have a My Contact icon option to choose from to make a call. The only thee options that I had were above the recent call log, and they were: 1> delete, 2>call, 3> merge with google. If I chose either option or clicked on a name in the list the phone froze and I had to reboot. I cannot get My Contacts to sync up with my google account. Everthing else appears to be OK except. I did try to restore the clockworkmod rom back up to before the 4.1.2 update but that fails now also. I am stuck.I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Well, I would personally, do a clean install [fully wiping] and restore the rom. Generally restoring an 'old' system is generally not a good idea, especially from a 'different' device; it can be done, but issues could follow. Like I said, do a full wipe, flash your rom, and go from there.
Also, in the future, you'd be better off not restoring / using rom manager; as I've seen things go wrong in the past. It'd do you better to do it manually.

Did you go into manage apps and wipe data on contacts? Then resync....
All Battery results are on a 6300mah battery, unless otherwise noted!
Hey all,
I'm running the Last Paranoid Android Rom witch includes awesomes features like Pie controls/ per app DPI and different user sessions (the reason i chose PA).
The thing is, when i create a new user, i go to configure it, lock the screen, rotate it, select the new user, unlock the device and then boum ! Black screen, hundreds of pop ups show up like "Gmail has stopped" "Phase Beam has stopped" "Android Keyboard has stopped" and as i press ok, a new pop up shows up ! It's impossible to use another user so i Just lock the device and go back to my session.
So my questions are :
- is it an experimental feature ?
- Am i doing something wrong ?
- does some of you make it work ?
- if you do, what Rom are you on ?
Thanks in advance for your answers !

You probably didn't do a Factory reset before going to the Paranoid Android
Either that or the Nightly/rom you are using isn't very stable.
Hy,
I was on the PA 3.10 4MARCH First. When i flashed this rom, i did factory reset wiped data and caches. But then the update PA 3.10 6MARCH came out. I dowloaded it and flashed it. Since it's an update, no need to factory reset ou wipe data or cache.
Maybe that's the problem ?
I don't think it is cause i followed instructions from the official thread...
Thanks for your answer tho'

Google has limited multi-user support to tablets. I can't speak as to whether or not devs have gotten it working on phones since I spend most of my time on the N7 scene.

Ok, so I upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.3 the other day, not by choice. After the update completed, I noticed some lag issues and Freezing issues. So I decided to wipe the phone and put it to "Out of Box State" which completely deletes your apps and data and anything else and put the phone back to stock. (with the exception of 4.3, that remained). So far I haven't had any more of those issues. However, I only have one question I was hoping someone can answer.
1. When adding a new contact, How do I set the Default to add them to my Google account instead of the default that is now the "Device"
Before, I was able to use Google as default...but can't seem to figure out how to set it that way again...
Thanks in advance!
when i install a custom rom (viper one 4.2.1 or 4.3) i get the following error please sign in using one of the owner's accounts for this device. when i install the RUU for AT&T developer i can log in just fine with my account.
anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?
Go back to your functioning rom and remove the google account (might want to do a backup first!). Then do the flashing etc and sign in with your account as a new device.
The problem is googles factory reset protection. Its designed to make the device useless if the phone is factory reset without being unlocked first.
The other way is factory reset from android settings, then flash, then sign in to your account as a new device.
Google needs to address the fact that frp is too strong and needs to add another way in to devices in the event of accidental lockout.

I am having the same problem more or less.
I have bought a Nexus 9 from another person.
I did a factory reset today and I cannot sign in now.
Will this solution work? How do I go to funcioning rom, etc?
This is a "Google" security feature... When you wipe a device and then set it back up, if you didn't delete the Google account first, it will ask for those "original" credentials. Only way around it is to completely RUU the device back to the latest stock image. But I've heard some devices still have issues since the SN or IEMI is associated with the previous users Google account.
So, if you buy a new device... ALWAYS make sure the previous owner deleted their Google account first, or have them there when you go through the first few setup screens to enter their credentials....Then after you enter your credentials, you can reset it.
Just kind of mirroring what shivadow said
OH no! I am having this problem with a newer device!! Please help! It has been about 22 hours since I tried booting a custom binary with a non-unlocked OEM lock! I'm waiting to try to sign in to my Google account until 24 hours passes! I might have to wait 72 hours! Please review the post [LINK=http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/s7-edge-canada-boot-to-twrp-t3509603]here[/LINK]...I don't know if I posted that right so cut and paste this if that link doesn't work:

I am having same problem with my old lenovo tab 3 7 . When i got it, i used it once and twice and then put it. now after a year or two, i want to install lineage and use it again as secondary device. but the problem is i don't remember which gmail id i used(i had 7 ids) and don't even have a clue about some accounts ids and passwords which i (currently using only 2 ids) don't use. And as usb debugging is disabled i can't do anything with my pc to get out of this situation.
