Well i have my personal favorite for Aosp rom for the note 2 which is PacRom 4.3 but i have not found a touchwiz rom that would make me say this is going to be my daily driver....i just want opinions or screen shots of roms that the community recommends...by the way this is my first thread and more to come lol...
XDA is full of best roms.
Users are encouraged to try them all and determine which one fits them the best.
As these thread almost always spiral into arguments over who has the best rom, this thread is closed.

So I'm pretty new to the SGS2 scene (but not to the Android hacking scene) and I've just recently rooted. I've been looking at a few of the ROMs, and they all sound pretty good. I'm not such a fan of developer theming and bugs. Are there any GB/ICS ROMs that would suit my needs?
NOT PART OF THE ORIGINAL QUESTION: Another question that has been on my mind, but didn't want to start another thread: What is stopping us from building AOSP 2.3/4.0 ROMs? I've been a real sucker for vanilla ROMs. (Mods, let me know if this "illegal" and if I should just make a whole other thread.)
This thread is gonna be closed and your gonna be flamed to hell and back so I'll tell you nicely.
Do some reading and learning on your own and you will find out. What is best is subjective. The reason we don't have aosp has been covered millions of times and the answer is readily available.

You totally saved me. Thanks. Mods can close.
@least he posted it in the right section lol
We pretty much only have 2 bases 2.3.5 and 2.3.6
GB all the roms with current dates are pretty stable,Kernels are all pretty stable also. It just depends on what you want.Im on Malice right now you will have to go to rootz and find it Dan left his rom is fast stable and I get alot of life out of my battery 9 hrs heavy use and up to 18-20 with light use easy. Whitehawx speaks for its self, his roms are everywhere fast stable and tweaked to hell and back, M&S has nice roms with nice themes and amazing audio tweaks. TDJ's Rom is also amazing stock look fast stable tweaked to hell and back lol
Faux's, Eugene's and Mr.X "synergy" are all Kernels you can trust.
Hope this helps

the fact that we have no source for ics based off Samsung source nore do we have access to there proprietary drivers.
The fact is we have a ATT Leak that we used to build stock based ics and we have a AOSP rom that needs completion. ( working on that with Devs from the skyrocket).
I've been using the Bombardier ROM with Synergy kernel for months. Tried others and keep coming back. One of the main issues with the available ICS roms is they're based of a leaked AT&T build, so the kernel ain't quite right. Especially for things like auto rotate, which is all jacked up. I'm waiting for a t989 leak before trying ICS.

I just got the phone last week, so im new to what ROM's are out there for the phone.. Whats the difference between Touchwiz and AOSP?
I am running CM10.1 (the most recent 'stable' build)
I've been running said rom non-stop since saturday and I have noticed no bugs thus far.
If anything it seems faster and more stable than stock touchwiz.
most noticeably my battery lasts WAY longer than it used to.
Just make sure you flash the right way, with the correct Gapps
I flashed the CM first by itself, then after it booted up successfully I went back and flashed Gapps separately.
Good luck and have fun!
I'm a noob so I can't post links... but get . cm is the site for the cm zip download,
and google gapps and it should be the first thing that pops up.

All of the roms are pretty stable, the best way to find one to your liking is to browse the development forum, read the ops of the roms and find some that are to your liking and try them all out. Everybody wants different things from their phone, so asking what's the best/most stable Rom is like asking what the best sandwich is for your tastes, just gotta try them out and decide for yourself...:thumbup::thumbup: good luck in finding songwriting that suits your needs

Touchwiz is more of Samsung's addition to Android. AOSP is considered a fuller Google experience. For a stable AOSP ROM, your best bet would to be start out with CM10.1. CM10.1, an AOSP ROM, is much smoother than the S3's stock Touchwiz ROM. It runs much quicker and it often has better battery life. However, with AOSP ROMs, you lose Touchwiz features, such as "Smart Stay". You will most likely have to flash quite a few ROMs before you find one you like. I would suggest starting out by flashing the M snapshot of CM10.1 which can be downloaded here. Also, do not forget to flash the 4.2.1 gapps which you can get here. I am assuming you are rooted with a custom recovery installed. If this is the case, just look around in the dev section and you will find many tutorials giving step by step instructions how to flash specific ROMs. CM10.1 is now considerably stable and is fine for daily use.
Pros of Touchwiz: Has many nice features that make a more friendly user experience.
Cons of Touchwiz: Stock ROM is bloated. Often slower than an AOSP ROM. Usually has worse battery life than an AOSP ROM.
Pros of AOSP ROMs: Smoother user experience. Better battery life. Full Google experience. Developers often update these ROMs faster.
Cons of AOSP ROMs: Does not have as many features as Touchwiz.
Aosp is also a lot more customizable.
I consider my phone to be pretty great looking.
And it's pretty stock lol

Most of the roms on this forum are quite stable. Just read the first couple posts of the thread then read at least the last 10 pages. That'll give you a pretty good idea of any problems that may arise. But apart from that, it's really just a matter of preference. Some roms may do certain things that others don't. TW roms and AOSP-based roms are fairly different. AOSP-type roms are usually less bloated and therefore quicker however, TW roms can be just as smooth. My personal preferences for each type are:
AOSP: CM 10.1
TW: Goodness Rom (on team-nocturnal forums, also my absolute favorite thus far) or The People's Rom

@OP, this thread will most likely get closed because you will have a different meaning of "stable" and what makes a rom good as well. No one but you can know yadda yadda, long story short -> Just flash roms that have nice screenshots and try out as many as you can

I'll go dig a hole now....
Spidey mod, please assist!
All ROMs are great and stable for those that use them. All you will get here is opinions and a closed thread. There is no substitute for reading about the software you plan on drastically altering your $600 device with.

Hi, I`m just coming from an lg optimus 2X and would like to ask you to tell me which sense 4+ ROM do you prefer and why?
Also, which one has the best battery life(what ROM+kernel)?
Thank you all in advance.
I love to give my opinion, but these questions most likely leed to comparisons between roms and kernels. Try a couple (roms & kernels) and see for yourself which suits you the best.
Btw.....not my rule but xda rule so don't put me off by saying this. Its all in good terms.
I don't know of any better sense rom for my HOX than Sky Dragon. These guys are the best and make a great rom. :good::good:
Guys I bought my Note 2 few days back and was going through all the ROMs available and I am confused as to which ROM is best and stable for daily use. So I would request members to please help me out in choosing a good ROM. Hope to hear soon.
Thanks
These type of posts are strictly prohibited in xda which asks for BEST.. Every rom available here are BEST since devs put in their whole efforts and time in making them. Everyone has different taste so the one that suits me may or maynot suit u. Some people are AOSP die hard fans but I like TW.
So take care of this next time. Do not ask it again please. Believe me, I made a mod pack and several mod apps(launcher,kb..) and I put in my whole efforts, knowledge, time and resources. So if someone comments negative on my work,it will really hurt. Same for every other devs.
Best thing is,read every ROM thread and see the features. If they are of your choice means its the best rom for u.

for me, just use as many as rom as you can. but dont screws up while flashing.. each rom have pro and cons. my advice, use some of very stable roms such as from 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 .. the newest is unstable enough like 4.3. may have some effect.. but its cool to try.. each roms have their own experience.
current im using dn3 4.3 roms. its cool, we can use the note 3 feature, but some people may said that its consume ram, yeah, because of note 3 have 3 gb ram. so, its quite consume our roms.
try google the top custom rom note 2 or use any 4.1.2 for stable result. if you want you can use the latest one. just try it. no worries.

Looking for: light ui, stable, fast, preferably 4.4 or 4.3 touchwiz and updates to the latest and greatest (doesn't need to be everyday)
If anyone can recommend some and tell me there expierences with them that would be awesome

We don't allow comparison threads as they often lead to arguments and fighting among the users.
The best place to find out about a specific ROM is in that ROM's thread. Read what other users are saying, bugs they are reporting and feedback to and from the developer(s). We encourage you to check out the different ROM threads and to find one or two that you like, flash them and run them. If you like one stick with it. If not, flash a different one.
Or if you are like the majority of us XDA users you'll flash one, run it for a week and then flash another, and another, and another, and another.
Thank you,
Rwilco12
