Backup Kernel Before Flashing New One?

Is there a way to back up the kernel on my existing ROM before I flash dumfuqs latest one? In case I don't like the latest one is there a way to revert back to the original kernel? Thanks in advance!

I might be wrong but i think the normal kernel is included with the rom and you just reflash the rom if you dont like the oc kernal (or nandroid backup)

after you re-boot into recovery using ROM Manager you select "nanadroid" and then select backup... it backs up ROM and Kernel

Ok I get that but I was wondering in regards to lets say if I install the new kernel and then installs apps and make system settings changes and then I want to revert back to the old kernel without losing the apps and system settings? Also I'm asking this because I'm thinking about flashing the dumfuq 3.5 kernel on Chiefs OTA update ROM. Anyone running this combination? Thanks.

[Q] Do any of the kernels work with stock tw rom?

I used kies to go back to stock and then rerooted. when I tried to install a tw kernel I got a soft brick. Unlike a custom ROM you can not just do a recovery back to before so I am afraid to try another kernel till I know.
stock rom w/custom tw kernel

I have a rooted AT&T galaxy s3, rooted with a custom kernel. I also have twrp and have been able to do a backup (nandroid backup) of the stock rom with stock kernel and stock rom with custom kernel. Sounds like you made sure the kernel specifically states TW, so not sure why you had this problem but I have used it...did you install custom recovery ?

How to backup stock kernel?

Anyone know of an app or a way?
You could install a custom recovery and create a backup of the entire ROM from the custom recovery or did you just want the stock kernel?
I want to be able to be able to revert back to the stock kernel easily after switching to another without having to reflash kitkat with Odin.
Will you be trying a custom rom? I ask because stock kernels tend to only work with Samsung-based roms. Most custom roms are based on a cm11 or aosp kernel.
ROM Toolbox Pro can backup your kernel. Not sure if the free version will though. You can check

Or, if u flash a custom kernel and don't like it and want to revert to the stock kernel easliy, just dirty flash the Rom again, no wiping needed...
I ended up flashing CM11 and I made a complete backup before I flashed.
Thanks for the help guys
