[ROM][WIP]MIUI GB for Galaxy 551

Hi Everyone
Checkout the BETA version of MIUI GB on your Galaxy 551
Rom boots
Known bugs-
*Every bug in cm-7.1-WILLING-snapshot-GB-20120210-release is still in this miui like mic problem during calling but the camera works almost perfect.
*Launcher size problem.
*Dialer and Contacts size problem try any alternative like go contacts
*Some widgets provided by miui launcher are buggy
*Keyboard size problem (a bit large in length)
*Bug in "About phone">It always show 512 mb ram
Very Fast Rom
THEME WORKS
To enable themes create "theme" folder in /data/system and then reboot
Please uncheck the lockscreen in theme manager while applying any theme.
If you want lockscreen theme then install milocker 1.4.2 from market and apply lockscreen theme from there
Reason is that you will have resolution issues if you apply through theme manager
Requirements:-
-Gingerbread bootloader [Any GB rom]
-Clockwork mod by WillingMagic
How to flash
*wipe /data and /cache through cwm
*flash zip in cwm
Gapps not included

Ya The call bug will be fixed when willing fix that bug in cm7.I am not a developer like skilledchaos or willingmagic.I can only theme some apps and some xml editing.

Guess i'll wait for willingmagic. Is there anyway to use Arkas kernels to replace the current MIUI kernel? I quite like his OC'd kernels up to 825MHz and governors

Thanks, Is this compatible with CM7? I'll try it now (I gave you thanks)
I have also found a translation error when long pressing Home/Middle button, how ever im fine with it as i learnt what the buttons does

I know that bug but while translating it i am getting errors hence i uploaded the chinese version.And yes that kernel 3.x is compatible with cm7 also

That is probably a bug needing to be fixed.
I have tried the Sony Xperia and IPhone themes, both clocks are messed up in different colours, then switching back to default i either have Xperia's blue or Iphone's white colour clock.

This bug is related to the screen resolution.I think I cannot fix it

Bug : mass storage nt working
another bug also there..usb mass storage is nt working for me..every time I connect the phone with laptop nd select mass storage, my phon is rebooted then...

I believe that issue isn't ROM related, I had that issue before and found out that formatting your SD card will solve the problem, just do a backup before you proceed on reformatting your SDcard.

The camera gives off a 660x495 pixel photo even though i selected 2000x1000 option
Also the USB Storage problem. I also have it and i don't really want to format it as it contains some important stuff, so how will i be able to do a SD backup without the mass storage? Just like pyriyesh103 my phone reboots after enabling the usb storage
Anyway to fix this?

Take ur micro sd and copy files through card reader or use QtADB it helps me just enable usb tethering and copy file button in the software

Your microSD should have came with a larger card so card readers can read SD
If you have a recent... maybe 2010+ Laptop, there should be card readers already installed (not including ultra books, netbooks may have it)
Heres what i mean
Insert that into Card Reader, that is connected onto your PC or laptop
And copy all the files to 'backup'

Installed it, but the camera is shooting too many photos, after I've taken a photo. The camera won't stop taking pictures!

do you use default rom camera? try to flash JB 4.2 cam. with stock camera there is some instability, random crashes etc.

I used the default cam, flashing the 4.2 any moment.
The only thing I'm missing in the moment is the reboot menu (where you can choose to reboot into recovery for example). Could you add the possibillity to select this?

Have you tried System Settings->Power Menu-> Reboot Menu?

He is talking about the possibility to boot to recovery directly. It is not there now. If you choose reboot, you only have the normal reboot.
As a 'bug' report: there is not possible to switch internal to external SD. when I try Mount2SD, the phone freezes after reboot at the CM logo. I have waited for 15 minutes, hoping it will finally work, but no.

Yes, but it's still missing.

don't know if anyone else had this: from time to time, the files I have downloaded appear in the notification menu, even they were cleared before.
no idea what to do, it is a little bit annoying.

no, it's not, but if you format your sd in ext4, you can link2sd.

My problem is not the space for apps, is making sure I don't loose stuff. If photos and videos are stored in internal memory, since I'm always flashing ROMs the probability of forgetting to move the photos/videos to sdcard is really big .

looks very good for now, but i'm still testing...

oh.. due to proprietary audio_hal from 4.1 and audio api changes in 4.2 it have some probs with CAMCORDER source, trying to figure it out

Is there any difference between recovery.img found in this vs this? Checksums are the same, so i guess no difference. You should add it in this thread aswell

Is there a reason why you use kernel from B525? B528 is available

Does it takes 5 pictures? If so, i think it's just a camera mode. Check the settings, I had sonething similar and was a bit surprised by it but i think it's a feature, not a bug. Could be wrong though.

could you maybe explain in a little more detail how to format by external sdcard in ext4 and how to link then?
if i understand correctly you just replace the link between the sdcard folder and the storage/sdcard0 (external) to storage/sdcard1 (internal)?
The ROM works really great, only thing that bothers me is the messed up storage management!

6. Move the supermarket.apk to your SD card and install it. Once installed, open it and in the search bar write google. You will see lots of app but none showing Google play store. Scroll down till it says 'search other markets'. Click on that and you will see the Google Play store (I guess it is number 2). Download and install it.
7. You should have fully working MIUI v5 with Google play store.

It is 4.1.2 with MIUI 3.6.28.

So why telling us its 4.2.2 ? And post some pictures please, i always like to see rom before thinking of downloading it, thanks.

Thanks mate! MIUI is really fab! I have been using it since 2011 and have never gone back to stock.

I flashed this ROM and it's quite slow, anyone else experiencing this problem? Oh and why do I only have 80mb of free internal space?

Did you follow all the steps?
4. Increase your memory limit by using the following app (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1661892)
5. Once installed you will not see Google Play store app. You can either install it via Gapps (search for it) OR download the following MIUI supermarket app (attached below)
6. Move the supermarket.apk to your SD card and install it. Once installed, open it and in the search bar write google. You will see lots of app but none showing Google play store. 7. You should have fully working MIUI v5 with Google play store.

Actually no I didn't. I will try and do it correctly now, be right back with an update.

It's too laggy... for now.. but very promising ROM, looking forward to it. If u need any help for the new builds just pm me.

Hi. I like the miui, it's beautiful but we can do something for ram memory because i have 120mb after 10 minutes. We can use a swap partition or a tweak for this ram? When i use nexushd2 cm 10 i have 200mb all time. I would like the miui version

Guys, I released it only after using for a week nearly. It works fabulously well after that step 5 of increasing space. What is the speed of your SD card? Mine is class 10 and it's responding superfast. If you follow that step of increasing space, you will get lots of space and won't have to worry about the memory issue really. It works like a charm!

I don't have problem with space memory. When i want play Candy crush ( for exemple ), it's very very slow.

As the OP said its early ver. of the build made for week or two, as soon as possible he will look more for everything and if he need some help I will be here to do what I can.

[Q] insufficient storage available

I hv galaxy grand phone and i rooted it and install 4.4.2 ( kitkat) cyanogenmod. Though i hv many question to ask but the main out of them r below:
1. Camera default storage isnt external memory card.
2nd and the most important is that whenever i install any app google play shows an error " insufficient storage available" why is that so!!! And when i tried to move apps to sd its not working too there is no option available to move those apps.( even i rooted my phone), i had that option when i rooted for 4.2.2 jellybean.
Please help me out.

Regarding Camera Storage u can change it to ext memory card...Do This after opening cam you could see a bubble on the right side.. That is the key next to the right side of the shutter key. Click on it. Then More options, Settings. In that you can change storage to external sdcard...

regarding camera go to setting n u can change. it external sd card. if not there use download latest version of cm11 n see

i have the latest CM 11 and there is no option to save pics directly in SD card. And why there isn't any option to move apps in Sd card , with this im not able to download any app from the store. . I had this option when i rooted and installed 4.2.2 jellybean.

see the settings options in camera..u shud find the option to save pics in the sd card....apps to sd card not supported as somewhere i have read that nexus dont have this option..thats the reason....

RR 5.0.6 has the option which i am currently using...i am of the view that RR is heavily based on cm 11 ....so somebody on latest cm 11 can throw some light on it...u may search the cm 11 thread also..there was a discussion on this some days ago.....

It's not because of size currently some apps are not compatible with 4.4 kit kat and so r not compatible with CM11 so some apps if u download it will give error or it will download and installation process shows but practically don't install...Its Incompatibility issue....

It's not because of size currently some apps are not compatible with 4.4 kit kat and so r not compatible with CM11 so some apps if u download it will give error or it will download and installation process shows but practically don't install...Its Incompatibility issue....

It Depends on U what u want :laugh: If u want to download latest apps and want to get up to date with google apps then u have to flash stock based ROM's... In which bloatwares are removed ans some small customization will be there.... If u want smoothness and latest Andriod Taste then u have to use Custom Kitkat Rom's but app functionality is limited but our developers are working Day and night on it so we should have some patience.. If u want stock based ROM's then u can visit here

Some observations made in this version of ROM!
@SamarV121 Thanks for the ROM
Apart from the know issues mentioned I have a few other points:
Google Play Music pauses for 2-5 seconds whenever the home button is clicked and the app is running in the background(Only when using Google home launcher as the default launcher)
Location is inconsistent - Sometimes it gives wrong location even if "High accuracy" is enabled.
Clock app doesnt open and it crashs! Therefore not able to set alarms!
Please suggest me some solution if there are any.

I get the message "access point name settings are not available for this user"

Bro mine was working fine and I tried to set alarm and its working well

the control buttons overlap the app features in several appps, for eg snapchat
please look into it
