Hi new member here
first thank you all for help to the community of users less knowledgeable like me. and second i have looked through for this issue but i have not found it so apologies if its been addressed.
i had recently updated my n7100 att note2 and i notice my audio doesn't seem to be working specifically for media players (MXplayer, BSplayer,Vplayer, and equalizier player). The video works well with the players, just the audio were missing. I have tested audio with the ringtones & youtube videos and it is working.
so i've concluded its somehow a software problem(maybe im wrong), and if anyone would know how to fix this it'll be much appreciated.
upgraded with slimbean 4.3 (Slim-t0lteatt-4.3.build.2-OFFICIAL-1331)
thanks!
Just for clarification do you have the N7100 or the i317? because there is no N7100 Att note 2

thanks, i have the sgh-i317
but its working now. i figure out the media file got corrupted when i copied it to my note2. as for the mp3, i think the player i downloaded didnt like it. but the mp3 played in mx player. turned out to be a bad combination and timing.
Thanks again community, and i hope this helps future media viewers with the note2.

i've never really watched videos on my phones (mostly due to screen size etc) but i figure now that I have the Galaxy Nexus i could watch a few things on it..
What would be the best video format to convert things to? I dropped an avi of a tv program onto it and it worked but it lagged a bit..
I just converted something to an HD mp4 using Permute for Mac, it bumped the filesize up about 100mb but tested it and it runs smooth in QuickPic or PlayerPro but when trying to use the built in video player (to get the true full screen) it plays for a second, stutters, then says it can't be played.. :S
has anyone managed to get moboplayer working ? says i need an arm7 neon codec - found that on their site ... followed instructions but it still wont work
Video playback may be a bit iffy until the apps are updated; one of the Diceplayer mob posted saying that it now supports HD playback for .mkv. They didn't mention .avi but that generally needs less resources than .avi so you could try your avi in Diceplayer.
The general trend in open source video development is towards .mkv, I'm trying that first.
I'd be surprised if much works well right out of the gate. The true beta is when the masses begin tinkering
vplayer seems to play avi nicely
Ill have to try it out.. downloading now
I've got the same question. And I don't mean what other player can I download to play movies. I mean what format can I encode videos in to get them to play in the native player. I did find the article below. I have tried each of these formats with no luck. Anyone know why Android can't play a movie out of the box?
http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html
And I also tired MoboPlayer with no luck.
pretty much if you use a baseline .mp4 format you will be fine
basically:
h.264 video
LC-AAC audio
no CABAC
and you should be fine up to 1080p these settings work on all my android devices
just set mpeg 4 level 4 and it should take care of it by itself

Thanks noobdeagle,
I have tired those settings on several encoders (handbrake, Adobe Media Encoder, Magic DVD ripper) and still no success. What software are you using to encode? and have you tried the movies on the galaxy nexus? Because I have never had a problem on any other Android devices. Just this one.

gave up re-encoding videos.
vplayer has played everything ive thrown at it so far. the built in movie player seems very limited.

I appreciate the feedback but I have two problems with this particular advice.
1 - Have you seen the permissions for that player? Why would a video player need access to my "Phone calls - Read phone status and identity" and "Your personal information - Read sensitive log data"? Really?
2 - Why the hell can't this phone play videos out of the box. <rant>I have, as I suspect a lot of us here do, a fair few friends that I would call iPhone fanboys. One of the biggest gripes I always hear about android is that every time you run into a problem on Android is the best answer is to root your phone and install cyanogen, or go get xxxx app and that will take care of it, or you should have bought this phone instead. So I get this phone and think that finally Android is going to hit the main stream and I can't even play a movie. WTF!</rant>
Like I said, I appreciate the feedback but I am still looking for a way to play a video in the default video player.

no i have not tried on a galaxy nexus yet as that one week delay sim free means i wont be able to have mine in my hands untill at least next week :\,
i use mediacoder to encode videos, cant speak for the GN but ive used it for my xoom, nexus S, desire hd, htc legend and SGS 2 in the past (however SGS2 supported all codecs quite nicely anyway)
according to the android dev site the supported video list hasnt changed so this is quite strange.

Thanks for the info. I will seek out and try mediacoder.
FYI...I got my GN SIM free from Phones 4U. It was not easy though. I went in to a few stores before finding one that would sell it to me SIM free. And I think that I happened upon the manager at the store that did sell it to me. What makes it even better is that I am in the UK on business for a few months and so I can get the VAT back on my way out. Which makes it nearly 90 quid cheaper.
Thanks again,
cj
seems as if media coder works. Though that is one complicated program. You could get lost in those settings for days.
Thanks again.

Ohi. Did some searching but couldn't find an answer to this question, so here goes:
Is there a Galaxy Nexus port of the TouchWiz video player app? I'm not necessarily talking about Galaxy S3's video player, I'd be okay with Galaxy S2's video player too. So, has anyone ported it yet? If not, is it possible to do?

i'm not sure if it's anything like the galaxy s, but that player used codecs that were tied into the rom itself so i'm not sure such a thing would be possible.
Is anyone else having any issues with flac playback? I thought it was natively supported on the Note 2, but I'm getting "the player does not support this type of audio file" error whenever I try to use the stock player on my phone (not rooted). I've also downloaded several other players that purport to support flac playback and they give me the same error. I know AT&T apparently removed flac playback from their version of the Note 2, did T-Mobile do so as well?

I searched the T-Mobile Galaxy Note II manual and flac is not listed under supported files.
well, i have tmobile version and it supports flac playback by its native music player. and even tried by rocket player and also works. check your file try to play it on the computer. or try another file. btw my phone running stock rom and rooted.

I think it depends on the kilohertz (KillaHurtz lol, ironic). I have an extensive FLAC collection, and all play well on the T-889.
I don't think it will play anything above 48khz.
**Edit
-Confirmed it is a khz limitation. I have plenty of FLACs at 44-48khz (I tried a Bassnectar album @ 44khz) which played fine. However, a copy of Nirvana - Bleach @ 96khz will give the same error you detailed on the stock player. Tried both thru poweramp and experienced no errors. Hope this info helps !
My music cuts out whenever i touch my phones screen. its kind of wierd. and irritating. Flashed several different kernels (aosp and tw) and flashed many kernels. Still the same result no fix? Anyone wanna shed some light on this. Its really really starting to annoy me
Any help will be appreciated.. Thanks in advanced again!
EDIT: oh and i've tried different music players too. tried google play music and MusiXmatch, tried a gingerbread version of music player from the play store, also tried realplayer.
Im pretty sure its not a music players problem now....

bump..
getting the same thing except on my tw and been using default samsung music player
[/COLOR]Having this same problem on i747 s3 at&t model on cm10.1 nightlies. Rebooted, tried different music player, removed haptic feedback, nothing. I am constantly listening to music while browsing and this has made it intolerable, please help
Don't personally know what's causing it but I've heard several reports of this in other ROM threads. The suggested workaround/"fix" is to disable touch sounds.

First, a few caveats:
I am not new to cell phones, rooting, or custom ROMs.
I am coming from a Samsung Galaxy S4, with customised 4.2.2.
I use MX Player for videos, and have always used Titanium Backup to freeze the built-in video player.
This is the first Note device I have ever used for any length of time.
The device came with 4.4.2 preinstalled.
Device is unrooted, totally stock.
I am not rooting this device until someone figures out how to do it without tripping the Knox counter.
Just bought a brand new Note 3 from T-Mobile. I have used Maxthon Browser for a couple of years and always loved that I could download any video off of any tube site instead of watching it (ie. option pops up to download or play video). When I try to play a video through Maxthon on the Note 3, it does not give me the option to download, nor does the video come up in MX Player as it used to on my other devices.
Is this because I have a Note 3, or am on 4.4.2?
Could it be related to the fact that I cannot disable the built-in player, since I am unrooted and do not have TiBU?
Or is this a Maxthon issue on the Note 3?
I am thoroughly confused and getting kinda pissed about it. I use MX Player because I like the features, specifically being able to adjust brightness and volume on the sides of the screen. Also, I want to be able to download videos again, dammit.
Another issue I seem to be having is that I cannot open full images from thumbnail links. All I get is the thumbnail.
You should contact the dev of the browser in question.

I have. Still waiting for a response...
Just as an update to this, still no reply from the developer.

How are you trying to contact the dev? If it's through the Play Store info contact maybe try their forums. Others may be able to help too.

I was trying the play store info. I'll try the forums. Thanks!
No answers from either avenue. Oh well, guess I get to find a new browser.
