I tried installing a custom rom but I was stupid and soft bricked my phone with USB debugging off, I have access to clockwork mod recovery and download mode what can I do?
USB debugging only applies to a booted os. You have full adb functionality in a custom recovery. Reflash your ROM and gapps. If that still doesn't work, do a factory reset in recovery.

do you have a backup in ur recovery??? if yes, the simplest way is to restore the old backup!! then copy a new rom to ur internal storage --- flash it...
if not reflash the rom image!!! (ur rom image --->> boot.img in ur pc)
i believe you know to boot ur mobile in fastboot mode -- switch to fast boot , then connect ur mobile to PC (with USB)
i.e. In computer --> go to the place where you have your adb files (files used during rooting) --> press Shift and then right click --> select open command window here --->> then type --->> fastboot boot boot.img
if it say's okay done...
again reflash in recovery --- then select zip --- select ur rom zip in ur mobile...repeat the procedure...
since u have ur recovery...i hope you wont have big problem

how r u doing guys,
after unlocking on htcdev, I 1st used the EASIEST ROOT METHOD - 'RECOVERY + SUPERSU' provided by PAUL but found that i couldnt boot into recovery, then i used the alternate method, after that my phone keeps restarting!
what to do now?
Flash cwm 5.4.0 through fastboot..
Download any custom rom of your choice.. put it in sd.. flash zip through cwm..
Reboot in bootloader..
Erase cache in fastboot and flash boot.img of the custom rom..
Make sure you wipe data/cache in cwm recovery..
There are so many guides.. take help for the commands..
Good luck

I just flashed the new JB 1.3 firmware and now I can't boot, i am stupid and forgot to put the rom on my sd card after following these instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32855238&postcount=29798
Have no backup or anything, debugging is disabled as well. Any help please?
Turn the device off. Make sure it has more than the 30% required. Boot the phone into the bootloader (power+volume down) Select fastboot. Flash clockwork mod recovery. Boot the phone into recovery, click on mounts and storage. Mount the sd card and connect your phone to your pc. Copy over the rom. Flash the boot image followed by flashing the rom.
Hope it helps

Go to recovery > mounts and storage >
mount usb storage. With usb cable connected you should be able to copy over your rom and flash it. Did you flash the boot.img?

What ROM are you trying to install? Basically you flash a ROM like this:
Download ROM and extract boot.img from the zip
Transfer the ROM to sd-card
Boot into fastboot: volumedown + power until you see a menu -> select fastboot
Connect usb-cable to PC
It should read fastboot-usb in your phone
Go to fastboot command prompt on your PC and type: fastboot flash boot boot.img
Disconnect usb cable
Select hboot -> recovery in your phones menu
Wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery
Install zip -> choose zip from sd-card -> choose your rom zip
Reboot

I modified the build.prop file in the /system because I tried to enable a feature from Xperia Z1 I found somewhere in this forum. (I was a fool, yes.) When I rebooted my phone, it got stuck in a bootloop and I can no longer access recovery mode. I tried to flash stock ROM but unfortunately, USB debugging is off. What should I do? I know a Nexus user who was able to flash his phone with USB debugging off but his procedures are specific for Nexus only. Help me, please
Details:
C1905 15.4.A.1.9
Rooted using Nicki root
Unlocked bootloader

I've never had a problem flashing ftfs with UDB debugging off, just make sure you have all of the drivers installed and then select the ftf to flash in flashmode. Once it asks you to connect the phone you will have to take the battery out, put it back in and put the cover back on to connect the USB cable and the flashmode button. When it goes into flashmode the LED will go green and then go off, this is normal. Flashtool will then restore your device to stock.

1) Make a backup of the firmware you already have.
2) Open your original firmware file with WinRar or something like that.
3) Delete the loader.sin file out of the firmware.
4) Proceed to flash your firmware again, this time unticking the wipe cache and data boxes and excluding everything but the system.
Download latest backup from Bonoboo thread.. it has full root and CWM, just restore it via CWM

you can use fastboot drivers to flash CWM.. First download the backup and move it your SD card (use card reader) and insert it back in your phone .Download fastboot drivers and extract it on your computer.
)
Download CWM file and extract it. Now copy the .img file from the folder and copy to the fast boot folder.
Now switch off your phone and connect to the PC in fastboot mode. Press and hold volume up key and connect the phone in the USB cable. [Make sure that you have installed necessary drivers. Else it wont work. ]
open a command window there by holding shift key and right clicking on the white space in fastboot folder (replace boot_image_name.img with the name of .img file in the cwm folder)
Example:::"fastboot flash boot boot_image_name.img"
Wait till it finishes the shell. Done... Now power on your device and when LED turns **** click volume up and down few times, CWM will be opened then restore backup of bonoboo which you moved to your SD card
C:\Flashtool\Fastboot>Boot_image_name.img
'Boot_image_name.img' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
it turn like this in the command window, could somebody help me.
i need the step in more detail how to flash the CMW.
you should type(after changing the directory to the one that has the recovery):
fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
Sometimes it doesnt work saying remote command not allowed or something like that, so dont hesitate to flash the boot partition instead because ultimately you are going to restore everything
if the former doesnt work then type:
fastboot flash boot recovery.img
Note:you will first have to change the directory to the one that contains the recovery ex, if i have the recovery file in c:\ then type:
cd C:\

Go to Original Android developement. It's in the pre-rooted thread, these are the ONLY img files for roms available unless you push the zip file using ADB...
Flash the system zip file rather than trying to flash simply the .img. The zip files are in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/development/asus-zenfone-2-rom-t3054956) and might help because you're also flashing default recovery... could be CWM.
Also try flashing using fastboot.

1. download the latest recovery from here https://dl.twrp.me/Z00A/ and firmware from here http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE551ML/UL-Z00A-WW-2.20.40.97-user.zip
2. download and install adb and fastboot driver from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 and intel usb drivers from here https://software.intel.com/en-us/android/articles/intel-usb-driver-for-android-devices
3.the adb driver should have installed in your pc OS drive [ which is C: ] put the downloaded recovery and firmware in that folder [where adb is installed] then in that folder, open command window by pressing shift and right click and a dialogue box will appear then open the command window from there and enter this command fastboot flash recovery {name of the recovery twrp something}.img then connect your phone to your pc and enter bootloader in your phone and press enter in command window.
4.after that put the downloaded firmware in any sdcard and put it in your phone then open recovery mode in your phone and go to reboot>recovery [yeah you have to reboot the recovery] then when recovery open again then go to wipe>advanced wipe> and select system, data, cache, dalvik and internal storage [internal storage is optional but if you choose it then it will wipe all your data in your phone] then wipe it and go to install section then choose the extsdcard [it should be written internal storage click on that then you can choose your external storage] then in the extstorage choose the firmware you downloaded and just swipe to flash.
5.patience ..because it would take time and maybe get stuck at 52% or 59% ..so just let it take time for installation [btw connect your phone to thr charger in this process]
6.after it done then reboot your phone and ALL DONE. [the first boot will take some mins to boot up]
