Tab 3 8.0 - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking about going from my note 10.1 to this tablet because the 10.1 is uncomfortable to hold I would just like to know will. It be updated to newer firmwares or will it stick with 4.2

It's a new device so yes it should get Kit Kat eventually.

Would you go. For the tab 3 8.0 or the LG g pad.?

If having a retina type screen is top priority the LG G Pad is a winner. I personally have had bad luck with LG phones so I am reluctant to try their tablet.

What do you think of your tab 3 8.0?

I love it. The screen size is perfect. It's fast, and does everything I need it to flawlessly. The screen is bright and crisp and I love having an SD slot!

Yes. Its not like iPad 3 to 4. Its a generational change. Everything is better. I used nova as my launcher to put 5x5 grid but otherwise its all stock. One word fantastic. I look at my note 1 and its like looking at my HD2 compared to my Note 1! Battery life is 2x.

Can we use Note 2 SPen on Note1 ?
HI,
Did you try using Note2 S Pen on Note1? Did it work ? I am curious to see if this works on Note 1 (SGH-i717)

While I don't own a Note 2 yet I know the Note 1's stylus will work on the Note II and vice versa since they both use Wacom UD digitizers. I actually use my ThinkPad X61 Tablet PC stylus on my Note 1 perfectly fine.
Yes, both S Pen of Note LTE and Note 2 works on each other.
And about uograde , yes its worth it in every sense ,specially processer and battery.

Good that they work, but the first generation note stylus really sucked. New one is much better.

G pad 8.3 to tab pro 8.4......

Hi guys I have a black g pad running cm11 which I'm very happy with BUT I also have a note 3 in black that I'm even more happier with.... So is it worth the upgrade to a black pro 8.4 ? I'm hoping there are users here who have made this exact jump and who could share their experience. Cheers guys.

I miss a lot of the LG apps but yes, it's worth the switch. The screen is far brighter (my biggest peeve with the gpad when watching movies). While I totally love my gpad and will miss it, the screen was an issue. The screen is bright and wonderful on the tab pro 8.4, as is the performance and battery life.
Same as cmscritic. I too loved my G Pad but the screen brightness (especially with movies) was a drawback to me. I also have the Note 3 and the Pro 8.4 looks just like a blown up version with new ui. Another build of Cm11 was released today and it looks like he fixed bluetooth so I'm fixing to give that a try. Go with the Pro , you'll never look back

Thanks for the reply, I saw the cm11 thread and read through the pages but couldn't workout if could be flashed to a UK tab as the thread title says USA only. Can this be done, thanks for your time.

I am not sure about that. I would drop a post in the thread and ask him, he seems to be very responsive and helpful.

Will do, I think I'm going to make the jump as I have just found a retailer in the UK who has the tab for 255 pounds and should get 130+ on eBay for the gpad, can't wait

I honestly don't know whether or not it works on any UK tab pro 8.4s. I know that there are 3 hardware revisions and the latest one definitely won't work (they have different kernel source for the USA vs. European editions) but otherwise the source code is looking the same. I'm going to try to get them all working soon.
At some point, I'll be asking for brave people to test builds that I can't myself test.

Monitor mode???

Im just wondering if anyone has been able to put any of the tab 3s into monitor mode like you can with the gs2 using bcmon. Without having to get bt5

Oooh I'm telling, your trying to crack a WiFi network, bad, bad boy. Probably not or at least no method I have seen yet and I am constantly on the boards over at AirCrack. Your better off going with a Nexus tablet for that kind of thing, works flawlessly on my Nexus 10 and my buddies Nexus 7 v2. The LG G Pad is also a good tablet for such things, just make sure to get the Google Play Edition. If you have an old Samsung Galaxy S2 laying around they also make a really good phone for BCMON, use CM 10.1 or above on it and you won't have any problems.

Words With Friends

Can someone with the LG Gpad 8.3 tell me if the Words With Friends app displays in portrait mode on the Gpad? On the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 it dispays only in Landscape and it's hard to play. Would there be a difference between the Gpad 8.3 and the Google Play Edition? Thanks.

Do you have the regular Gpad or the Google Play edition? I can't decide which one to get.

I have the regular one. It is cheaper than the GPE one and if coast is a factor in your decision that would be something to look at. It is a nice tablet and does what I expect a tablet to do.

Thanks for getting back to me. The regular LG Gpad seems to be getting all the development too. I ordered one from Best Buy today. It will be joining my two Nexus 7's and Asus TF300 tablets.

My LG Gpad 8.3 arrived this afternoon. Several hours later I had it rooted, and flashed TWRP and Slimkat. Coming from the Nexus 7 the extra screen space is much welcomed. I have noticed the screen colors are much warmer than the Nexus 7...whites are especially noticeable compared to the Nexus 7.

Tab S 10.5 , Note Pro, Tab Pro are all Exynos too and they all got the update to Lollipop, some to 5.1.
In fact they run the exact same Exynos as us, so there's not much work to be done (in that regard) anyways...
So -yeah- nothing to do with it being Exynos... In fact I'd be much surprised if we were not to get Lolipop too. It's Samsung's pattern, their last update is greeeatly overdue but they eventually deliver. Of course we'll never get Marshmallow as it's over the 2 year window during which Samsung typically supports her products... and then they wonder why Apple is No1 in profits. Ipad 2, a 4.5 year old device and it is still getting updates (ios 4.2.1 to ios 9+ !!)
Yeah I know! It was a joke.

Oh sorry, didn't notice. Sarcasm is sometimes hard to conveyed through text...
Well, at least they kept their promise...
I agree though that 5.1.1 would have been nice at this point. Hell, my LG prepaid phone (which was also only $100) got its first Lollipop update BEFORE this $500 tablet.
Interested to see this update in action though, I hope it gets to the SM-P600 within the next week.
Haven't received it yet, but I think I am sticking with KitKat, with all the Bluetooth audio issues I have had with both my Note Pro and my Note 4, I like that my audio doesn't skip.

It´s 5.1.1 not 5.0.2
It is Android 5.1.1, NOT 5.0.2. The new device simulator is posted here.

First thing right off the bat, comparing to the exynos on the Note pro 12.2, had some lag issues, Google play store issues, but could have been a bad download. As far as new features, very similar features to the Note Pro's 5.0.2. Only thing that is not there is the toolbox bar which can save up to 5 favorite apps. I will test the Bluetooth to see if it skips like the Note Pro and the Note 4.

Maybe you need to do a full wipe (factory reset) via recovery.. (to resolve lag and google play issues)
Can you tell me if has popup windows (like note 4 and note 12.2 5.02)?
Thanks.

Updated my P607T to 5.1.1 ODIN
I was running Besonderes 5.0.2 but decided to upgrade to the official version... and pleasantly surprised to find the ODIN version of 5.1.1 on sammobile for my T-Mobile P607T..
Did the update via ODIN but it did not do full wipe... The TouchWiz kept force closing, and I did a factory reset/wipe via recovery. Now it seems to be running fine so far.. It is too early to tell if battery life improved, etc..
Yep, it has pop-up window

Downloaded OTA, but now I can not get Twrp to stick. When I flasb Twrp it says it passed but as soon as it boots up it reverts back to stock recovery. Anyone have a solution?
Is there any hope for SM-P601 give lollipop update?
