[q] htc one xl cant go into recovery - HTC One X

I'm sorry, I might be in the wrong forum but since there's no ONE XL lol. So I bought this ONE XL from Hong Kong and I'm in Mexico. I got the phone and everything was great until it prompted me to update my software so I clicked yes, it updated to 4.1 something with sense 4+ and then it prompted me to update again so I clicked yes. Thing is it updated to 4.2.2 with sense 5. Everything was good until I realized I could access my phone as storage divice so I can't transfer file in or out of it. There is no CONNECT TO PC option. And another thing, it erased the SPANISH phone language (i need it because i share the phone with my gf). So I did some research and found out about morelocale 2 which would allow me to add Spanish back again but turns out I need SU access. So I thought it would be much easier to just flash a rom and use something with 4.0.3 again. The phone was already sim-unlocked and with S-OFF so all I did was unlock the bootloader but when I flash a recovery like clorckwork or twrp it goes to a white HTC SCREEN LOGO and in red letters thes this "this build is made for development purposes only...." and then it reboots like 3 times and starts the phone up normal again. Anyone knows what can I do? Or what am I doing wrong? Thanks.
Sorry about the long explanation.

There is HTC one XL forum. (AT&T, Rogers) go there
And yes jellybean doesn't support UMS anymore, only MTP.

Huh? One XL right here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-x-att

I'm sorry, I just found it too. Thanks though. But still, does anyone have the same problem? How do you transfer files back and forth? And if I flash it back to 4.0.3, will that solve my problem? Thanks.

Hard-bricked my phone - how was it possible?

Hi Guys,
I managed to hard-brick my phone somehow. I sent it back to HTC already, but I just don't want to do it again. Can anyone figure out what did I do wrong?
Here is the story:
1, I've rooted the phone. I tried with the one-click root first, it did not work, but the other method involving unlocking the bootloader through htcdev.com and flashing CWM (endeavoru) and SuperSU worked.
2, I wanted to install my cmdsp update, which worked already in several devices (Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, Galaxy S III). I flashed the exact version which was in the thread (that one is created from the Galaxy Nexus CM9 distro (maguro)).
3, The device booted, but then got frozen on the UI. I hesitated what to do next.
4, I thought that maguro is not binary compatible with my device, so I downloaded CM10 from this thread, extracted the necessary files and created an update.zip for this device, then flashed it.
5, It got flashed nicely, but then the phone did not boot anymore.
It had 100% battery before, but long-pressing power button did not do anything. No way to get into hboot mode, and the device is not recognized as an USB device if plugged into a mac (sorry, no windows at home). The led does not even light up if I plug it to the charger.
So, the question is: what did I do so wrong that it got hard-bricked. I might get another device from HTC, I might need to pay for that, I don't know, but I do not want to repeat this mistake.

This is an update.zip, I flashed it to many other ARM-based device with no problem (ICS, JB).
Because you don't read and experiment, that's why.

Don't read what? The doc of the update.zip that I made myself? This update.zip installs some libs into the /system partition. What can go wrong about it?
You got the SAME responses on the SAME thread you started in the at&t, rogers, telestra One XL forum. Tho your story didnt add up over there. Looks like u just need to come to terms with it amigo:beer:

Almost every Android has an ARM architecture CPU, doesn't mean you can flash whatever you want onto every phone.

Because you overwrote your hboot when flashing the device?
Try running the JB Firmware Flasher.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Actually I'm very interrested in what you flashed exactly?
With a S-ON device it should not be possible to flash anything that will hard-brick your device. So maybe you could post it for me?
EDIT: The ZIP you are linking to in your other thread could never have hard-bricked your phone. On a S-ON device it is impossible to flash onto a protected partition. So something else must have happened!
It is indeed possible to hard rbick an son device only by simply flashing a rom and boot.img meant for your device.
Recently it happened in the one x community when an (anonymous) developer released a rom and several people got bricked because of it.

There is no boot.img in the ZIP he links to, only libraries and an APK file. I highly doubt that could hard-brick a S-ON device, but who knows.

Missing Activate button?

Hello,
New to the forum with hopefully a simple question.
I acquired a pre-rooted HTC One V from a friend with Rhythmic ROM 1.4 installed.
It had been factory reset but still had their number on the phone. Using Dev mode to Factory Reset I was still brought to the Language/Google/Phone choices but the end result is that the same number is still in phone info and the Activate icon/App is missing. The phone doesn't seem to recognize ##VIRGIN# as a shortcut either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

It didn't come with a MicroSD so I'm left with what's on the phone.
I'm hoping I wont have to dig up the CID and RUU or anything. Is there a simple method to stock this phone?
HTC One V / Virgin Mobile / Version 4.2.2
if it helps
I recently gave mine to my mom, what has to be done is, switch to a stock ROM (pm me if you need one, I've built one completely stock that works fine) have your friend call and cancel his account. I've been with cricket for a while and I still needed to cancel my account for my mom to switch hers to it. lastly, you'll need to call virgin to activate. just make sure your friend cancels the account.

HTC One X G-sensors not working all of a sudden!

Hey guys... My friend bought an HTC One X second hand. It is rooted with what seems to be stock 4.0.3 Sense 4.0. The phone is also S-OFF and everything.. I will post pictures of it.
So here's the deal:
My friend was watching a movie but suddenly he felt as if the screen wasn't rotating... Now (According to AndroSensor App) the magnetic field, orientation, gyroscope, accelerometer etc... In short.. All of the GRAVITY SENSORS and the orientation sensors aren't working.. They are DETECTED by the app but say "Waiting for event"
tried hard resetting and everything. I have put many Custom ROMs in phones before. So i can flash ROMs etc if i have to
I have attached the pictures about everything and need help.. Alot appreciated thanks.

And he ain't wrong himself either... Anyways a helpful suggestion will be alot appreciated...
My question is that "CAN I FLASH A SENSE 5 (4.2.2) ROM ON THIS BAD BOY BY JUST FLASHING VIA RECOVERY?"
I'll then check the other powering off and stuff i read till i get my hands on my frnd's HOX. Cuz im a bit busy waiting for the Nexus 5 launch o.o

you should update it first, that is a very old version, you should have updates available. as it is s-off you can flash anything you want but I think you will need to update the hboot first, once that is done you have a lot of options available to you

Go to settings and check for an update. What we all recommend is that you send it to HTC, all untampered One Xs should still be in warranty, so send it to them, if it can't be fixed they'll send you a One X or a One X+, or sometimes they could send a HTC One if you're lucky :/

Oh i'll get right on it when i get my hands on the device can i request you to stay put to this thread? Cuz i will report back here
if you flash a custom recovery you can do anything you want, ie flash a rom, sense or no sense, or flash back to stock and because you are s-off you can even change your cid to install an update from a different region.
this can go on and on and people are starting to repeat themselves and you have had all the information you need to move forward. so what you need to do, as you say you cannot fix under warranty, is :- let the phone update via ota, this will update everything including the rom, the version of sense and the hboot. then once it is finished with all ota's available you can install a custom recovery( I recommend philz touch recovery or the latest twrp) and then you can flash all the rom's or mods you like.
and if you find you still have a problem with sensors check @HTC Venom signature for a possible solution

i got them back except for temperature sensor....althought i did this thing several times, but once it worked out...i restarted the phone by long pressing the power button, even after the TURN OFF menu appears...on the start screen pressed volume down button to go in safe mode, all sensors started working, then i restarted mobile to come in normal mode.
working fine uptil now, i dont have restarted or powered off after that. so dont know if they will keep working after restart or again same problem will occur
all the people having same problem, just keep on trying restarts, safe mode, factory reset etc etc most probably they will start working. its just hit and trial

[Q] Verizon HTC One upgrade path for those not on verizon

A couple of months ago I asked if there was an upgrade path to the latest update for a non rooted completely stock Verizon HTC One. The phone belongs to my mom who uses it on Ultra Mobile. Is there anyway to upgrade it to Kitkat. Right not it's on 4.2 Jellybean.

Well, this method used to work.
It may be that s-off is required to accomplish this now.
I can't really say for sure, as I haven't had a device that stayed s-on for more then a few days at most.
Wish I had a better answer for you.

Thanks for trying anyways. Greatly appreciated. I guess my mom will stay on 4.2.2 for the foreseeable future.
Just updating for any future users who may come across the thread. The solution to my initial issue is as follows:
For those not on Verizon you can still update by using HTC sync. After installing HTC Sync and connecting your phone, it will prompt you for an available upgrade. Follow the onscreen instructions and the phone will be updated to whatever the latest update is.

So HTC knew I went from 4.x.x.x (while unlocked and s-off with root) down to 2.x.x.x to update to the newest through the app before going s-off and they took my phone to swap out. Cracked screen replacement. Sometimes they know but don't check.

My stock M9 is stuck in bootloop! Can't boot to recovery! Help please!

Hello guys!
First and foremost, I'm new to the forum as well as an Android noob (switched from Iphone 5 half a year ago). I have never rooted my phone nor have I flashed a custom ROM before. I have a 32 GB HTC One M9 from Verizon on stock Lollipop Android, and it has been working perfectly until this morning. I woke up to my M9 stuck in a bootloop. It would boot to the HTC logo, stay there for about 10 sec, then go black and constantly restart again (even as I type this). I can access the bootloader, but it seems none of the options work for me! I can't boot to recovery mode or even power off my phone. It just constantly boots again by itself. I've emailed HTC support and hope to hear from them soon, but I figured why not ask a respected forum as well. I've read up on similar issues from other people, but it seems none of their solutions work for me as I cannot access recovery or even do a hard reset! Any help is appreciated! I want to be able to use my phone ASAP!

HTC One M9 Sprint, stuck in boot loop
I just checked the Dead NAND post in the FAQ... matches my issue too.
Q17: My phone is completely stock and started bootlooping during normal usage. Now I can only enter the Bootloader since I face booting errors as soon as I try to enter the Download Mode or the Stock Recovery. How can I fix this problem?
A: This seems to be another symptom of the NAND death (c.f. the black download mode error screen in Q8). So far, it's not fixable without HTC's help. In other words: You need to send your phone to HTC's repair service if you want to keep it.
