So I went ahead and downloaded the kernel source from samsung.
I compiled it successfully and now I'm sitting with a zImage.
I tried putting it into a tar and flashing it with odin. Odin hangs after "Writing to nand".
I tried using koush's AnyRom zip and flashing it through adb sideload. It failed with a generic error.
I tried booting into fastboot, just to find out that this device has no fastboot.
Last thing which I haven't tried is pulling the boot.img and integrating the zImage. Not sure where to get the boot.img and I have spent too much time derping around already.
Same question here.
May be somebody would be so nice to give step by step instructions on how to build a flashable kernel package (either for odin or for recovery) from a compiled kernel zImage.
Thanks.
i found this off google:

Im looking for preferably the latest TWRP in Tar format so I can load it with Odin. I currently have CWM but would rather have TWRP.
I tried GooManager but keep getting the "webpage not found error". I tried Recovery Tools but didn't have success.I tried ROM Manager but it
keeps loading CWM. Still noobish so flashing with terminal emulator is foreign territory. Please help.

Here are the download links for the d2att recoveries straight from TWRP's site.
FYI, GooManager installs TWRP and ROM Manager installs CWM. Also, the latest official TWRP recovery won't flash 4.4 ROMs, CWM on the other hand can.
Here's the link to the Unofficial TWRP 2.6.3.1 which supports 4.4 ROMs. It's a zip file that can only be flashed through a recovery though.
Thanks for the reply and information. For some reason I just like TWRP and coupled with the fact that I am stuck makes me want it more.
Whenever i download the tar file under that link, it extracts to a img file. What am I doing wrong?
Edit: Got it working, I used flashify from play store and flashed latest TWRP image file in less than 5 seconds.
On to the next adventure.

Your welcome, I'm glad that everything worked out for you.
Also, you're not supposed to extract the tar file, it's meant to be flashed though Odin. The img file is meant to be installed via the terminal emulator.

hey
i compiled stock kk kernel and after search in xda found "bump" method and now i can put bump'd boot.img to a flashable zip and flash it via custom recovery.(without bump method got security verfication failed at boot logo).
but after flash the kernel ,phone shows "fastboot mode started" .then have to restore boot from recovery to start phone normally.
i think my kernel doesnt work good with bootloader( doesnt have "aboot.img")
can i merge aboot.img to boot.img? or fix this issue while flashing the kernel?
------------------------
solved : just follow compile instruction supplied by LGe and use proper bump tool
Hello, i'm trying to get gapps working on my i9195, I installed TWRP using heimdall as per CM Wiki instructions, then installed CM13 and try it with success.
Then i restarted to recovery and installed pico opengapps. It all went bananas!
I tried with nano gapps
I tried CM12.1 and it's pico gapps
I tried CM12.1 and it's nano gapps
I formated /system
I formated *
Then i read somewhere, that to flash gapps CWM is needed, so i'm trying to get it, but i can't. At least a flashable one.
I tried flashing a zip (containing a CWM6051 recovery.img file) and it didn't work.
And i can't get a proper .zip file containing the correct files on it. (As far as i know, an .img is for heimdall and can't be used inside a .zip)
I can't use Odin (don't know why, it does not work) and Heimdall seems to fail flashing almost anything but TWRP
Can anyone point me in the direction to get a CWM image for htis phone flashable via TWRP recovery?
Thanks for your time.
I personally don't have that model, but I found this: http://www.s4miniarchive.com/2014/01/cwm-touch-6046-for-galaxy-s4-mini-gt.html , decide for yourself but it looks quite legit to me

Just extract and fastboot flash the original boot.img from the factory image. You'll have to open the nested zipfile in the image file to get to it. Once you flash it, you should be back where you started and able to boot system. Retrace your steps and found out what you did wrong. Which kernel? As a side note, you should first fastboot boot the TWRP.img file and then while you are in TWRP, you flash the TWRP zip file. You can also use TWRP (boot) to queue up TWRP, Kernel, and Magisk and they will all flash in that sequence saving some time. There are also sticky guides on how to do this.

Yeah appreciate it i figured it out last night this phone drives me nuts
Hello, the names Braadliiah,
I am having excessive difficulty figuring out how to flash any Rom that is beyond Kitkat, even though they, supposedly are "designed" for an "SM-T217s". As I had success flashing Cyanogen mod[cm-12.1-20160706-UNOFFICIAL-lt02ltespr], which is not even for my model of tablet, which is bizarre due to the fact that other ROM's of the same model do not successfully flash. The most recent custom Rom I had attempted to install with no avail, was the Ressurection Remix[[ROM][8.1.0]ResurrectionRemix v6.2.1[Official]]. This ROM was linked into google, under "SM-T217s" compatibility, but for the model "It02ltespr".
The way that I flash these ROM's are through TWRP, namely, version "2.7.0.0". The TWRP dialogue within the flash window, usually says something like, "failed to zip" and "Zip error". The reason I have not done the flashing via ADB & Fastboot is because I have not done this successfully yet, and truth be told, I am not sure it is even possible given the TWRP can't do it? Also, I do not use Odin, because this will remove TWRP, and there is no guaranty that the ROM will work, and then, I will have to re-install Stock Firmware and TWRP. I lack any desire doing double the work, as I have already done a bit of that through trial and error recently.
So is there any method, via TWRP, ADB, or ODIN, which will in fact work? Should I install another version of say, Cyanogenmod, to be able to install this ROM? I am looking for experienced, tech savvy people, as I am a curious noob, who wants a ressurected tablet that can do all modern conveniences via wifi, and be my study tab. Furthermore, I would like, say, Magisk Manager to Install Modules, but can not do so, without a newer Kernel, that is Lolipop and forward. And again, Lolipop and forward do not seem to Install.
I shall be ever greatful for anybody's help. Thank you.
Update:
Today I experimented with ODIN some more. I had a small victory, because I happened to take the TWRP v.3.1 flash Image, and converted him into a TAR file, and luckily ODIN managed to successfully install this update. However, when it came to TWRP v.3.2, there became an error installing. TWRP still failed to instal zip files from the below ROMs. Furthermore, ODIN seemed to flash the boot images of Custom ROMs well, when converted to TAR files. Yet, when I booted the ROM, this device remained on the Boot screen.
My process by which I installed these ROMs, went like so:
First, extract zip, then convert to TAR via 7zip
Open ODIN, flash TAR in PDA, Boot down android
Boot to Download Mode again, in PDA flash TWRP v3.1 TAR, Boot down android
Boot to Custom recovery, and install proper Gapps
Boot on, and Stuck.
I did this three times, while starting off with a full wipe, to rule some things out. When I tried to fix context, it said Error1
The Roms I attempted to flash were, Cyanogenmod 12, which worked entirely; Cyanogenmod 13 which was stuck on Boot screen, tried twice; Lineage OS 15, which I tried three times, and was stuck on Boot screen.
Do I need to apply more than one file? for instance, CSC, Phone, and PDA? Because I was only flashing boot Image as a TAR file in PDA.
