With the SII, there were Threads on how to port Roms from the international to US version. I tried a few and was successful and I'm really not a programmer but willing to learn. Since there appears to be similarity between the Note 8 and 10.1 could a "how to" be developed to do this? Maybe its too hard and too involved, but thought I'd ask.

I cant say this will work for sure, as i dont have the device I cant say. But considering the similarities between devices, this is what you should do:
1. replace usr / vendor / bin / xbin from 8.0 to 10.1 rom
2. replace boot.img
3. logcat alot.

Tried a 10.1 Rom but when I tried to replace the files It wouldn't let me. Got an error code.
Unpack both to seperate folders, replace the stuff, repack as zip. goto CWM and mount system just in case and flash

I ended up doing that. flashed it. Got though the Aroma and booted. Got the boot sound but the screen was black. I didn't do anything to the build prop, would that have a problem? I didn't mount system.

Sorry not familiar with adb and getting logcat. In reviewing the setup from Aroma I noticed it flashed the 10.1 8010 wifi only kernel. Maybe I have to flash the kernel for the 5110. How do I get the kernel for the 5110?

I had previously replaced the boot image in all the options. I replaced them again and flashed. Same situation, get boot sound but black screen. I have been using this one ROM maybe I'll give another one a try. But will stop for today. Thanks for your help.
Tried another ROM this morning. Started booting but black screen. Been trying to port Note 10.1 Roms. Checking the specs the Note 8.0 looks more like a large Note II. Any Ideas about porting from the Note II to the Note 8.0?

I cant say anything till I have the device in hand. 53/400 received . But logcatting is the way to go.

Its great that we are working to get developers interested in the Note8.0. There are already many custom Roms out for the 10.1 and the Note II.
With the similar Hardware on both these devices I would hope we could find a way of porting some of these Roms to the Note 8.0. This would open up the options to Note 8.0 users dramatically. I have attempted to port but I don't have the skills needed. Can anybody with more knowledge be it the original developer or a more experienced person get behind this effort?

So now i have to confess. I HATE SAMSUNG'S LAUNCHER! The normal android launcher seems much much much better. So simply. I want a rom that has
Android 4.2.2
ORIGINAL ANDROID LAUNCHER. NO SAMSUNG INSANE LAUNCHER
Stability. I want it to be as stable as the original. If possible of course
Battery improvement.
NO LAG. PLEASE NO LAG D:!
And finally. I do not know if that is possible. Maybe overclocking?
Ability to install mods?
Root XD?
Also some other questions
After i flash the custom ROM. Can i restore the original? Samsung's one? In case i need to use the warranty.. So i can restore the original insane samsung stuff. And remove root and they won't know anything..

First of all congrates for choosing grand n to join XDA ....
N as u already have installed cwm n rooted ur device u can simply go for the custom rom...
I suggest u to flash GENNXT rom devloped by balliboxer...Thanks balli :thumbup:

As it seems. The ROM is only flashable if i have the leaked 4.2.2 update. Which i do not have..
And it seems to have the same annoying Samsung Launcher. From the pictures.
Also how can i go back to the samsung stock Rom or whatever

The kernel you gave me seems to be unstable.. :/
Also a launcher is NOT an option. I can't express how much i hate those launchers. All i want is the default android launcher. No TouchWiz

if you want heavily customized rom try XperiaZ flavor rom or AOSP 4.1.2
btw if single sim is fine with you & call recording you don't need go for cm10.1

FM Radio does not work
Strange behavior when SIM PIN lock is used
Low call volume
Cannot hear first caller when second caller calls (call waiting) (unconfirmed)

I do not own this phone and only did this port as a demonstration to my (real-life) friend on how to port CM to a new device. However, it would be a waste to just delete it, so I'm sharing it with you all. So if someone else want to port CM, they won't have to start from scratch. But because I do not have the device, I cannot actively work on it and most bugs will likely be left as-is. If anyone else want to submit patches, they are welcomed to do so.
Also, I've developed this on the I9082L, but it should work on the I9082 as well.
That is what was written on the ROM's thread.
I want the phone with EVERYTHING working fine just as fine as it was on stock. Just with the ability to overclock , Put some mods and REMOVE THE STUPID TOUCH WIZ INSANE LAUNCHER SAMSUNG PUT. XD

Currently, for grand it's "10.1.2" and not "10.2"
CM 10.2 is Android Version 4.3
Is Android 4.3 available for downloading for Grand....

the link i gave to you was TOUCHWIZ based ROMs Stock/Custom so that you can still use the features of S-pen. On the other hand, those AOKP/AOSP roms was based on CYANOGENMOD no s-pen features. Different world yet you can many custom kernels can flash rather than tw based..

DITTO from ELECTRON TEAM is one of the CUSTOM ROMs has Note 3 features on it and it is a great project made by E-Team. There are other 4.3 CUSTOM Roms that you can port 4.3 note 3 features. Just research on it sir. Try to go to this link:

today I try to hurricane v5 and dn3 from electron team flash is successfully but after I setup a phone use restart the phone is stops is not loaded its just in white " samsung galaxi n7100 " I was waiting 20min but nothing change. so I use twrp to try again but now is need password but I don't have any.
this happened on both ROMs

Do you know how to flash another recovery? I never used twrp before so i don't have idea about the password came out in the recovery if the white logo stucks it is considered soft bricked but dont panic you need to reflash your twrp. If not reflash another custom recovery like Philz recovery 5.15.0 then if not pull out battery for 30 seconds then try to flash twrp again. If the password exists report back. Hope it work.

Before rushing to do anything, please research alot especially how to backup your EFS, otherwise you may end up with a wireless phablet without a phone. Worse you could end up with a brick

ya i know actually i flashed few stock roms using odin previously but never custom roms using those cwm or those stuff just rom n odin that did the job for me but am eager to get those air command so what reading forum of dr ketan and sunnys guide also after completely reading ill move forward

because I wipe and doing factory reset and flash backup cm10.1.3 and now every think work and not password on TWRP. I try update and tell you if work.

ditto rom is touchwiz based right coz i read dr ketan n sunny both talked about 2 different ones one touchwiz based other non touchwiz based
so since ditto rom briings note 3 stuff to note 2 that means its touchwiz based right??

I have only used Dr. Ketan's ROM, and it's Touchwiz based meaning S-pen support . I can't comment on the rest.

hello..thats called a soft brick...try to use another cwrp like philz recovery..and flash the rom using that..or you could flash the rom using the old fashioned way..ODIN..u know right?f

yes...ditto use touchwiz from what i read on their thread..personally i never use ditto before ,just dr ketan and tigra rom.they both are touchwiz based too..hurricane is a touchwiz too..read carefully at their thread..each rom has its own specialty...personally i liked dr ketan cuz it has many tweaks and mod..anyway....happy flashing....

all of patch is going to samsung,another way is make a custom rom like @wulsic doing
about news Kitkat for another Samsung device is stuck on S3 (i think),cause the lastest news i read is ,new touchwhiz launcher cannot run correctly on S3 with 1 gb of ram,and we should patient cause when S3 is not have Kitkat ,and we too not have way ,cause we have 512 mb of ram

When kitkat was released there were leaks that showed that Fame might get the update because it was supposed to support mid/low -end devices, but as we can see there are no updates.. i'll never get another samsung phone again, it's just my second and it's the last.

Well that guy is me lol but uhh Laelson we have some progress. The Recovery is now 6.0.4.9 and it now has support to flash kitkat based roms.

Well i still need to make a good working kernel for the kitkat cm11 rom just be patient :angel: i also contacted somebody else who is working on almost the same thing as me but he is further so i asked for advice with the kernel since the source is also 4.1.2 or he also knows a bit wether which patches need to be applied cause it will be faster then that i need to find everything myself since i am not a real kernel dev xd.
But yeah you can try to flash it but yeah... Rom doesnt boot yet but i think before the summervacation it might boot, or yeah my summer vacation is started next week i thought or the week after idk

Im not sure but i thought the guy in the video with that rom was using cwm 6.0.4.6 so... i thought that that version wasnt able to flash kitkat roms so yh.... I want to be 100% sure so im downloading itnow since guys with bad internet connection need to download hours to get the rom and i only around 3 minutes.
EDIT: Like i thought just 4.1.2 stock rom with kitkat theme a bit and edited settings to have more features and android version was 4.4.2 it said but in the fingerprint(Also for playstore neccesary) was 4.1.2)
The guy who made the rom has based it on the Latin stock rom 4.1.2(http://terafile.co/3395503ca6cc)

I had installed the Deluxe C & S.. had a few mistakes but with GAPPS, could not be updated because they were modified .. then several applications not working (google+, hangouts, among others.) that these problems still there?

And Kitkat is supposed to support low/mid - end devices? Probably Touchwiz but that explains how Google is able to release new versions of android and make them available as updates almost immediately on nexus devices. Im making a google kitkat experience rom but since no kitkat available for our device I have to use jelly bean as base. (Techno rom) Too complete it all I need is to change status bar and boot animation. And UI if possible because I'm new to making roms and this is my first. Any help is appreciated. :laugh:

Hi guys. I have bad network reception on my N900T after upgrade to 5.0 Lollipop. I didn't want to install custom roms but I decided to try some to see how will my phone work with custom rom. Some custom rom with all working options will be awesome to try. Ty in advance

First your going to have reception issues with majority of custom roms. But it is easy to fix most issues that can occur.
My faves in order for 5.* sm-n900t are
Pac-rom - very easy to customize and tweak. Also light and fast. It's built from the best parts from many different roms.
Dompop - cool to use lots of different mods and such. Haven't used the latest nightly but one from a month ago had issues with lte signal but was simple to fix.
Cm 12.1 - although not as good as cm10 or cm12 was, 12.1 is a great Rom that shows off the experience the developers have gain over the countless roms for countless devices they've done.
Reply back and I can do you a quick tut and direct links to files needed. Currently using twrp and pac-rom 5.1.2

AryaMod is an awesome ROM that works with the N900T. It's stable and fast with tons of features (OTA updates, Aroma Installer, etc.) and development continues. The link is in my signature.

DomPop as long as you as you're good with full debloat. I personally need my samsung sync so I run Aurora full Note 4 port v6 with Lean Kernel hlte v6.3.

If you want to do official 5.0 the just use Odin and open up lollipop in it and flash. If any force closes the clear cache and stuff followed by reboot. If you going to kitkat I usually install tw lp clean then do the down grade since I find that note 3 will usually have issues any other way. Make sure you do backups of you modem and efs always in case of corruption.
Personally I just use full backups so I have all my apps logins and such on booting.

To be honest with you it was FC a lot and I couldn't get it to work right. I somehow erased my backup and needed a ROM to work "now" LOL so I gave Alliance 1.2.1 a shot and this puppy is sooooooooooo smooth fam! I haven't had an issue yet. I don't know if you'd tried it, its really nice and enough customizing to satisfy me so I stayed here.

I tried it. It IS a nice Rom so can't be mad atcha. I pushed Alliance all through 4.4, but 5.01 belongs to these guys. I'd ever you think you wanna give it another shot...holla. I. Gotcho back.

works on my n900t only one bug thats blinking when u play videos but it will be fixed in next update. I dont have other issues. for n900w8 idk. I was on Norma S6 rom and I flashed this N5 port with TWRP. Full wipe/format and clean install. all good.

Which Kernel are you using?
Which camera did you choose in Aroma - N4 or S6? I was thinking to pick the N4 because it might have better S-pen support, on the other hand maybe the S6 has more advanced features being of the newer software.
I was wondering if in general Samsung might be trending to lighter apps, less menu options, etc in the S6/N5.

I had stock official 5.0 on N900T. First I installed Norma S6 but a lot of bugs. I only do full wipe format from stock 5.0 to Norma s6 and then I have done same from Norma S6 to DarkLord N5. Kernel is DarkLord, thats I got when I installed DarkLord N5 RC.
