Usually when people say Standard Keyboard in regards to Android they mean the Google Keyboard. That's probably why Andy suggested it and also because the google keyboard is fantastic. I haven't done it myself but have you just tried searching "T9 keyboard" in Play Store? Throw that in google search too and see what pops up. If you search in google I'd throw .apk in there at the end of your search query to see if anyone has ever posted that .apk ever. I'm at work or I'd attempt a search and help you out but I can't atm. Try those 2 suggestions and see what you find. Good luck :fingers-crossed:
Also, what phone are you using? I've never seen that on my One.

Thanks, I'm using a Satore play keyboard but I prefer the native. In the one before the 4.3 update appeared on "standard keyboard" was called so in one's own choices and I do not mean to google if not the standard with t9.
Greetings.

Figured it out: voice search is not available in the Canadian market....I just googled the apk
Damn. I love this. Craps all over swiftkey beta. It was my preferred input before I tried HTC. Thanks for heads up.

I tried HTC_IME (not sure whether it was this same one) earlier, and I don't really get the charm. Is it just the languages supported? It's not multi-touch I believe and I missed a lot of letter due to that, especially space. I am currently using the Droid X Multi-touch and it's faster than everything else (and I've tried almost all). The thing is that I can type fast enough on this not to need prediction, I only use that for spelling correctione etc.
Been using this for awhile to skin my own HTC IME, first on my Milestone, then on my Galaxy.
i love you guys :-D.thx a lot for this!
Google gimpsta as he has an online kitchen for customising HTC ime keyboards.

Always heard good things about the HTC keyboard and after installing this i can see why.
anyone know how to enable the on screen dpad, or is there one even available on the HTC keyboard?
Can anyone tell me how to remove this completely? I uninstalled from applications, but does that remove Clicker.apk too? I can't find it in /system/app either
can't install
i can install the click apk but not the htc ime apk, what program you guys use to install, it tells me through Astra that file can't be read as an apk.

I'm using the gingerbread keyboard from the market and if you long hold space bar and drag up, you might be able to get some arrows
You could use ultra keyboard with the HTC skin, it looks the same and it more customisable.
I must have spent three hours looking for this today. Thank you so very much whoever modded this for gingerbread.
where i can find the htc skin for ultra keyboard?
I was looking for the same thing came across this thread:

The HTC IME from the addons section works on cm7.0.3!
The only thing is I wanted a pure HTC IME skin, but this one is custom themed. Anybody ideas how I can get it unthemed? I tried repacking it with apktool with graphics from HTC_IME_hi v27 but it didn't work. AppInstaller kept staying application not installed without an explanation as to why
thanks button = poked
Got my new SE Neo yesterday and hated the keyboard, tried a couple of the versions on Gimpsta's sight as this is what I had had on my X10 but wouldn't work. Should have known to check here first, thank you for making my nice new phone now perfect.
Thanks for posting!!
Gonna give this a try on my G2X running 2.3.3, hope this works!

The only Gingerbread friendly swipe version is the one that is in the Double shot port, but it runs SLOW SLOW SLOW.

Dude, You didnt have to take it down, im sure people will still use it.
the problem with the non GB friendly version is you still get the pop up box, which then is blocked by the GB little word grabber things.
For the most part, it is usable, but the correction box is extremely limited in use.

I have like 5 different keyboards on my phone... and i can barely use any of them. I wish i could get the GB swype working better, but right now it is SOOO slow to just come up that it pisses me off.
Might want to invest in a tracext9 or somethign like that. Its in the market. Supposedly better than swype and has a ton of features. I have the earliest version and since it doesnt have an editable dictionary, i cant stand using it.

Yeah there is so much bs surrounding swype...I think I will check out tracext9.
OP,
There are two files you need to just yank out of the original ROM:
1. Swype.apk
2. libSwypeCore.so
Mount /system/lib as r/w, put libSwypeCore.so in it, then change perms back to r/o
Mount /system/app as r/w, put the Swype.apk in there, install it, then change perms back.
OR, you can just signup at http://beta.swype.com/ then download and install their "Installer" and install Swype from it.
EDIT: Honestly, though, I think this one is better: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nuance.flext9.input
EDIT2: I don't know why others are having problems. I've used Swype on GB (CM7) without any issues at all

If you can you type single characters & but not swype a word, change your input method to another keyboard and then back to swype. It should work until you reboot.

I'm a big Swype fan and have always used it on my EVO but I got tired of trying to get it to work on my Nook Color and Xoom.
Even though I resisted all of the suggestions to do so, I finally bit the bullet and bought SlideIt keyboard from the market. It's about as good as Swype and it works on everything I've installed it on.

Ace II (i8160) gesture keyboard not working.

Hello, i just flashed several roms in my Ace II because of the gesture keyboard not working.
I have made my searches, and found zero answer related to this, it seems no one is using gesture keyboard....
Now, on such small screen, having the gesture hability for writing saves a lot of time for me, and i think that anyone who would give it a try will keep it as primary way of writing.
The only rom in wich is working fine is in Slimrom 8.1 but i have found other complains for this one that are more important than the keyboard at the moment.
Is there any workaround?

I've been using it on the stock 4.1.2 ROM in this same phone and in 4.0.4 on Optimus 2x.
At store, there's no available google keyboard, already made the search.
BTW:
PAC rom has not working gesture keyboard, and is 4.2.2.
TeamCanjica, also is 4.2.2 and it has it not working either.
Rootbox, also is 4.2.2 and is not working.
On the contrary, SlimRom is 4.2.2 and it has it working.
I'm no expert but shouldn't this be in the "general" section? o.0
Google Keyboard (same as AOSP from 4.2.2) has gesture typing, SwiftKey has gesture typing and Swype has gesture typing. If one of those doesn't work you might wanna contact the app support directly. All I know is Google Keyboard and SwiftKey work perfect on stock and Cyanogenmod.
Google Keyboard is available for the Ace II. In fact I think it's compatible with ALL devices so I don't know why you're not finding it. I'd be certain it's likely to be something on your end.

It seems to be working, but only makes the trace and nothing is written.
Swiftkey and swype have their own drawbacks, both are really c..p finding and predicting words in anything than english, and i need it working fine in Spanish, there google keyboard is unbeatable.
Also, those both apps are paid, google is not only free, IT WORKS.

Nothing wrong in MY end, i've made the search inside the phone and directly with my computer browsing/searching play store, and it does not appear AT ALL.
I also checked some days ago with the Optimus 2x because i dislike the keyboard that came with a custom rom, nothing appeared... And also, both phones use different google account. (just in case)
So.. It seems that the keyboard may be been removed or is only available for older versions wich need update.
EDIT: Sorry... Sometimes you need to kill someone... I'll kill google...
Well, Google keyboard will NEVER appear for spanish... "Teclado de Google" does...
Really sorry... sometimes takes me some time stop thinking on english.
Anyway, it says is not compatible with ANY of my devices.... : wallbash:

Strange, on my phone, after installer a couple of kitkat apps (google services, hangout, camera, keep, search, clock) there is no more "contacts" nor "phone calls" (the dialler) to be seen in my apps panel. Can't call anybody anymore :/
and hangout is always slow as hell to launch and work with (tends to kind of "freeze" on an empty screen page while loading / waiting for god knows what). Was used to this lagggggy UI with hangout, but it can't be so sluggish for SMS.

Try greenify from the play store. Your phone might be running out of memory or over loading the CPU. I don't have a single problem. The hangout app actually works faster than the SMS app for me!
Really weird that the phone and contacts apps disappeared though. Something went wrong somewhere. If you don't want to wipe then you can probably dirty flash your ROM to get them back.

No. It doesn't work yet. It FC's. Something is required somewhere. If we figure out what it is then I or someone will post it for you.
I've gotten all the Kitkat apps on my phone and I have no problems at all. I'm glad to see they finally updated their ugly email app. And the camera rotates a lot faster than before. Google Now is awesome. I had mixed feelings about the new launcher at first but its growing on me. The keyboard seems more responsive too. Also, the hangouts app isnt all that laggy for me. It does take a second to load everything when forst opened but after that, its fine. SMS works great with it in my case. Overall, they are great updates. I can't wait to try out the Kitkat OS.

First of all, I downloaded apps from here:

After you get them on your sdcard, most of them can just be installed like normal apk files.

This is just a thought. But when I installed most of these, I was installing them over system apps or I was moving them to system/app to make them system apps. Maybe that makes a difference.
Anyone using the new Google Keyboard? I found out you can type a whole sentence now with the swipe guesture without raising your finger. The space bar is recognized as a swipe input now. I think the developer(s) of the Swype keyboard did that not that long ago but now its in the stock keyboard. Just thought I'd share.
When you were running on jelly bean, did you had any problems receiving or sending any MMS on hangouts?
