Can't Root Unlocked Optimus G E973 Stamped *NOT FOR SALE*

So a few weeks ago I purchased an Optimus G E973 here in Canada from a guy who had posted an ad on Kijiji. He claimed that his company had bought a bunch of Optimus Gs but ended up switching to Blackberry for their email system or something. The phone was brand new with the USB cable and outlet adapter, but no box was included. All of the protective stickers were still intact, but when I peeled the thin IMEI barcode sticker off the bottom right side, the plastic is engraved/stamped with *NOT FOR SALE*. The phone was "factory unlocked" and I had no issues activating it with Virgin. So does anyone have any idea why this engraving is there?
Now I have just decided to root but unfortunately using Bin4ry's root restore method does not work, as it just hangs at the "Running..." stage and never reboots. Heres some screenshots with software information that came on the phone:

Last thing I should mention is that when benchmarking I am getting a little lower scores than I should be. It seems like the processors is underclocked to ~1.2GHz? Heres some screens from AnTuTu:
So I hope someone might have some idea why it was stamped and if this is whats causing issues with rooting.

You have some kind of a display model
My guess is that it is running a modified software with extra security
After all Binary s root exploits a timing delay thru adb, which is probably patched in the firmware your phone is running
Note that binary s root method cannot be used on LG s latest firmware
Your best bet is to use KDZ and load the old stock firmware
Follow the guide for unblinking the phone found under general forums

I'm not sure but what I do know is that it was defnitely brand new and never used when I got it.
Now I am having a hell of a time reverting back to the stock firmware. LGMobile Support Tool says "Software update is not supported for this model", even though it recognizes the phone as an LGE973AT running E97310G. And when I tried using my IMEI with both the tool and url mentioned in this thread I still couldn't get any firmware from LG's servers. So I finally grabbed the Bell E97310F KDZ from this post, but when I try flashing it using the unbricking method the updater reports that it can't find the phone. Now I guess I am out of luck for now

That is the firmware you are running. But it is true your iemi does not return anything. Curious.

So what does this mean? Is it something to do with it being a dev/display phone most likely?
I also tried this which was posted in the unbricking thread. Still "PHONE NOT FOUND".

Hey guys, any luck figuring this out?
My phone is doing the same thing. Just hanging after "restore my data" is pressed

I have the same phone rooted with unlocked bootloader. You have to downgrade from E97310g to E97310f, (mine came with E97310h Bell)
Direct Download link for Bell E97310f Kdz [E97310F_00.kdz] (915mb)
after used RootOptimusG-English.rar to root the device.
Then followed Project FreeGee to unlock the bootloader

Yes it is the same base, but it has less bloat than in carriers builds. Also boot animation is pure LG.

For now the only career builds that were launched was Vodafone and the only thing different was the boot and shutdown animation that included the Vodafone logo.
Everything else is the same.
You could have posted this on other thread already open but that's just me saying.
I'm not criticizing but if every time a build is launched and everything is the same as others, and everyone opens threads for that then we will have many fragmented and useless threads.

I just updated my brothers Optimus G E975 with this firmware and it works like a charm. And this is also the first time I encountered flashing an LG phone, so I am kind of a newbie, here . I did it by folowing this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190&highlight=root) metodh. And in that thread there is a debate about red ROOTED signal in download mode after using that tool on G2, something like samsung flash counter on SGS2 if I am correct? Anyway, I am wondering does this affect Optimus G too? Because I wouldn't like to have any problems if I ever had to take that phone to service centre.

Hi,
I read somewhere that optimus g hasn't any flash counter. I send my g to service cause radio error. G was flashed several times and before sendig to service just reverted to stock via kdz flash. They send me back my phone with new mainboard. So i think they can't check how many times you flash it.

I just updated with a printscreen., is in head post.

This is the same version as 20d but for EUR carriers.

Confirmed 20E is for EU carriers.. possibly Orange only. Modem build is the same as 20D. Google Security Patch version is also the same: Jan 2016. I see no reason to use 20E over 20D unless you're an Orange user who can grab this directly from LG Bridge.

Right now i'm on v20c,i have tried even v20d,but for me is not so good v20d because over night i loss 5-6% of batery,with v20c maximum 2% per night. I will try it to see how it's doing even if people are saying there's no difference between v20d and v20e.

have you noticed any changes/ improvements? Is performance decreased as on v20d?

Same situation here, with 20d
Tested for a couple of days, but unsatisfying
Downloading 20e, than switch to 20c in case

I wonder if this build will stop the version "not matched for mcc" error all EUR users get with V20D?

At a first look, v20e it has a short of lag .. That v20c dosen't
Try to click Settings > Networks and fast click on More,and quick Back button,try doing the same thing but click Display and More and you'll see the difference.
This short of lag isn't present on v20c.
The second thing is the heat,wich is more present on v20e.
The cooling is more quick on v20c.
About mmc code error it didin't happend to me never! And i flashed v20a,b,c,d, and now v20e-Orange , all euro. My phone is a H815 EU.
I think in the end i will get back with v20c until LG release 6.0.1.
Please take in consideration that this is just my opinion and experience so far.

Update: Installed and confirmed. This gets rid of the MCC error when booting on EUR devices. Now a valid ROM for EUR phones.

I have h815l and with this v20e stopped that error with mmc when start on the phone!
For me is ok!

It's no true. In Poland this ROM for Orange too. This ROM for Orange EUR.

I agree. I made a quick decision at a boxing week sale and came from a OnePlus who support user unlocking and flashing. I'm going through update withdrawal! I like the device but had I known that the H933 variant was likely never going to be rootable, I would not have gone with it.

No it's model locked where you can't flash other models kdz it's a common misconception on the thread.

I am wondering if LG's implementation of Android 8.lx Oreo will be rootable as the Google Pixel 2 XL's version (had this phone 3 weeks then sold it)
I have been getting bugged for an update but so far, have refused (because I do wish to root).
I understood the bootloader unlock has to come from LG (with the only way to access fastboot commands being the official bootloader unlock needed to install twrp/magisk/etc.) .

Read the link. It's just in testing by LG right now. As far as I can tell by looking on Google, this user is literally the only one talking about having it (all news stories link back to his link in OP), so I wouldn't get your hopes up about him sharing it or about us getting it officially any time soon.

Question Indian firmware with European Z FOLD 4 (SM-F936B)

I just saw online that India Market got the new update (F936BXXU1AVIH) with September security patch.
So my question is, as i have an european model with the same model number (F936B), what is the risk if i flash this firmware ? As i know that it's not gonna change my 4G/5G bands anyway, so i'm guessing maybe an OTA issue after flashing this firmware (like not receiving them as i don't live in India).

Yesterday I installed the Indian version on my European version Fold 4, there is no problem except that it does not pass the Safetypass and I cannot make contactless payments.
No Root, no OEM unloock, just ODIN upgrade (firm from Sammobile).

I confirm that i can no longer make contactless payments as well, but i never used it anyway so not a big deal for me... i hope that there will be no others bad compatibilities like this one.
Will update on a newer European firmware later or just flash the AVIH European firmware when it'll be released

I'm guessing that it's caused by the software itself and not caused by CSC. Maybe in India, Google Pay is not used, i don't know...

It's very strange that the India version does not pass Safetynet's CTS checks. I also used the Home_CSC, I had never had a similar problem. I will wait to try with another region when it comes out.

So you're saying that you reverted back to the last Eurpoean Firmware and that you can't still use GPay ? Or you just tried to changed the CSC without flashing European firmware ?
