I rooted my HTC One (Verizon) successfully the other day using the rumrunner tool.
I wanted to install Cyanogenmod, so I followed these steps http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_m7vzw.
I had already pushed the Cyanogen into the /sdcard/ before the recovery.
I am on the last step of the clockworkmod recovery using fastboot. I followed all the steps before hand correctly, but when I tried to boot the recovery using 'fastboot boot your_recovery_image.img' in the cmd my phone is currently frozen (screen is on, doesn't turn off, cannot use volume controls or power button to change anything).
How do I proceed from here or fix it?

OK first off 'fastboot boot your_recovery_image.img' is not a real command. So that's your problem. As for a fix I have no idea... You need to get into your bootloader first.
Nevermind, I just nutted up and played with it to get out of it, now running Cyanogen

I spent all night downgrading to froyo, when I was finally at 2.2 I used the visionary method to get temp root, that worked fine, when I tried to get permanent root I couldnt get s-off so I started following another guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835777
I followed all the steps and when I typed in reboot the phone rebooted and got stuck at the htc screen. I tried to turn it on with vol- and power and go into recovery but I got a black screen with a phone and error message, then it rebooted back to the htc screen and is still stuck there.
Please help! this is my only phone and I need it fixed asap
Thanks in advance!
can you enter bootloader? what does it show?

There have been numerous warnings over the past year about Visionary that I have to ask this question: Why oh why did you use it? Rage is a much safer method than Visionary and won't brick your phone at all (rooted three G2's with Rage/Gfree).
Yes, shows

by the time i got back to 2.2 it was almost 4am and i just wanted to get it done i followed the first thread i found.
Yes i know i made a mistake but any help would be apreciated
what is ?
what is your main problem
the problem is it wont load past the htc logo screen
Get a copy of the 2.2 PC10IMG.zip and reboot into your bootloader (Vol. Down + Power). If the bootloader can flash it, you should be able to boot normally. Go to the CyanogenMod Wiki and root using Rage/Gfree.

is there gonna be a problem since i have s-off
I put the PC10IMG.zip in the root of the sd card, turned the phone on (vol- and power) it found the image, there was a loading bar to the right, and then nothing happened after the load. Im still at the same bootloader and if I reboot it is still stuck at the htc screen

Okay, go back into your bootloader and flash the latest ClockworkMod recovery via Fastboot.
I assume I can find the directions on how to load clockwork through fastboot on here. If that does work and I can go into recovery would I be safe to flash a custom rom at that point

Since I will only have time to work on the phone tonight after work and I need it for tomorrow are there any other possible solutions to my problem or would flashing clockwork through fastboot be it?

For fastboot to flash recovery, the image needs to be on your comp. Open up your computer's Terminal, cd to the directory it's in, and type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (without the quotes).
Sent via smoke signal.
nevermind got it
for people that are curious:
have the recovery.img (correct one! this was my problem) in the tools folder of the android sdk, open command prompt from that folder (hold shift and right click)
then run this command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
also phone has to be in fastboot (vol- and power, then select fastboot)
I finally have recovery!
Im gonna try to load a rom now!
It worked! my phone is alive!
Thank you all for your help!
Hi,
I've looked through a lot of threads but can't match the symptoms to mine (this could be a lack of knowledge on my part) so any help is appreciated.
I've previously flashed ARHD a number of times successfully including a new boot image. I flashed 9.2 today with CD Tools Suite and this was fine. I later decided that I wanted to re-flash without the CD Suite Tools and did this by going into recovery and re-flashing the ARHD zip.
The update ran successfully (per CWM) but I can't boot into it. All I get to is the HTC One white screen with a beats audio logo beneath it. I also can't get the phone to reboot into flashboot / recovery so that I can do anything with it (I've tried holding the power button and either vol up or down but this just reboots the phone and it goes back to the white screen again).
I'm sure there is a way out of this. Could anyone please help me?
Many thanks.

Did you use fastboot to flash the correct boot.img file first? It's my understanding that anytime you flash a rom you must flash via fastboot the correct boot.img file for that rom followed by erasing cache before entering recovery and flashing the rom.
Didn't someone say holding volume up & power can brick your phone?
Fastboot is volume down & power.
Press them at the exact same time, keep them held till fastboot loads up (even if it does another reboot)

They both use the same boot image so no need to re-flash that.

Exactly how did you try to install the ROM (JellyBone?)? Where did you get it? Have you flashed other custom ROMs before? Can you access HBOOT? (Turn off the phone and hold power + volume-down.) Can you plug the phone into the computer and run ADB?

I did full wipe data and then install zip file from SD card. I been used MIUI and other Roms, and I do the same steps to install these roms. I cannot access to HBOOT. whenever I press the power + volume key, it turns on and stays on the HTC screen. I also try to plug it on the computer and run the hack bit, but it does not work.
Is there a way to boot it using the command prompt?
thanks

I have bricked my terminal upgrading from hboot1.23 to 1.28.
I was in bootloader and entered the commands to re-lock it. The terminal re-started but remained stuck in the HTC logo. I guess I hadn't flashed the correct boot.img before.
Now I cannot enter in bootloader or recovery. Any ideas?

Thanks paulh1978; When I tried that it just keeps booting normally. I couldn't turn it off, nor boot bootloader.
The battery level now is so low that the phone turned off. When I plugged it to the charged appeared the bootloader 'relocked' with the warning:'Battery level is too low to flash' so I cannot flash a new boot.img, neither unlock it again.
I'm just trying this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658084 in order to get the battery charged to enough level.
So I hope I will be able to unlock bootloader again and flash the old boot.img
If your still on cwm and not stock recovery then your phone should start to charge if you leave it plugged in for a few hours. If your on custom recovery and can get fastboot commands to work try clearing cache with fastboot erase cache and hopefully will get you out of bootloop or at least into recovery.

My terminal came back to life after doing as the thread I mentioned in my last post indicates:
This batch file made the terminal reboot in bootloader when there was no battery to give five seconds charge until there was enough to flash again boot.img and unlock the bootloader.
It's good to know there are people concerned about helping the newbies! Thanks!

Since you are able to start fastboot and connect to the EVO 4G using adb, I recommend you download a SmelkusMOD Recovery image from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661543 and follow these directions to flash the boot image:
1) Copy the image file you have downloaded to the adb folder on your computer.
2) Rename the image file you have downloaded to recovery.img.
3) Enter fastboot on your phone.
4) Open a command prompt in the adb folder on your computer.
5) Enter the following at the adb command prompt on your computer.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
6) Wait for the image flash to be completed before selecting Recovery on your phone and pressing the power button.
Be sure you download the recovery file with the .img extension rather than trying to install the zip file. This will install SmelkusMOD Recovery 4.3 on your phone and allow you to reflash your phone's ROM.
i forgot to mention i did try using adb to flash the recovery but i tried your method that you posted and still no luck. Tried flashing 3-4 different times and still get boot loop or screen turns black and vibrates 5 times...btw each time the recovery flashes fine with adb and says finished and then i reboot the bootloader and or pull battery and try to launch recovery and goes back to bootloop. I also tried 3 different versions of the recovery image, i tried tmdirt2, reloaded2, and ics smelkus recovery.img files. Am i trying the wrong image and thats why im still having recovery issues?
The different versions of SmelkusMOD 4.3 just contain different themes. I use recovery-ra-supersonic-4.3-smelkus-aokp.img, but any other version should work the same with a slightly different appearance. Are you getting to the bootloader screen when you simultaneously press and hold the volume down and power buttons, but seeing the phone reboot when you select Recovery and press then release the power button?

yes i can get into bootloader just fine and adb commands will work on fastboot, but when it comes to going into recovery it will just not do it, think ive tried flashing every recovery available for the evo 4g and flashing with bootloader and pushing with adb and still no luck just boot loop...
hardware failure???
The only thing left to try is RUU to try to get the phone back to booting the stock ROM.
just tried RUU exe on the evo and completed fine, but didnt fix it...still boot loop guess my evo is a paper weight
