How long does it usually take to charge your s3 fully? I ask because mine has always charged very fast but lately its taking sooo long to charge and I dont know why..what do you guys think?

with the standard charger came with S3, usually took around 2h30 to fully charge.
Mine used to charge super fast but now its taking soooo long.. its takin me an unusually long amount of time.. any body know what could be up ?

I can't really tell you a time exact but not that long. Last night I was at 50% plugged it in and charged completely in bout 45 - 1hr. I usually don't touch it tho.

Takes me a about 2hrs. With the charging accessories that came with my phone. Are you using the original charging accessories?

Rogue app.
Yes everything I use is official samsung came outta the box.. I had been flashin quite a few roms then went back to complete stock lj4 and it just seems like its taking way too long to charge.. ive never noticed this problem infact I was always alarmed at how fast it would charge

With the phone turned off, it takes mine about 2 hours to charge.
When you flashed this last rom did you wipe data/factory reset?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I have a Q: My rom (SlimRom2.9.0) has an option for Quick Charge mode, where it will charge faster but you loose USB connectivity functionality (for connecting to a computer).
Will the SGS3 also take advantage of a higher output (2.1a) USB charger, ala iPad chargers? Does the circuitry inside detect and is smart enough to adapt?
Look at the battery stats and see if something is hogging it. Get something like battery drain analyzer to see the percentage you're charging at.
You guys think it has anything to do with the stock lj4 kernel? My battery life kicks ass 4 hours screen on with 17 + hours of battery life.. still charging is slower than usual. Hmmmm

I would try to drain the battery all the way down, then with the phone off, recharge it back to 100%.
After that see if there's any improvement.

Been on the charger for 4 hours ive been using it and booting to recovery here and there and from 8% im still only on 85%.. so damn strange. Tonight im going to borrow my buddys charger and see if it improves.. but this sucks

Mine takes about 2 hours from 15% sometimes I'll be playing a sandbox game and it will take much longer. Just don't unplug it when you plug it in.

Could it be a faulty battery?

Like most others on this post, my GS3 will take roughly 2 hours to charge.
Depends where I am charging from, usually I end my day with around 20-30% battery life still.

It could be. But to be sure id do the full cycle I mentioned before, and even consider flashing back to stock! Just for testing. You can always nandroid and go back if you like. Though a fresh rom flash may be better.

I use the charger from my 10.1 tab. I believe it runs at 5 amps. Definitely charges faster although I've never timed it by how much. If I charge it on the wall charger that came with my chinese batteries, it takes over 9 hours sometimes. Yet the chinese batteries only ever charge up to 91% on it's own charger, I have to charge the rest once I put it in the phone. Weird.
I was on Blazer GB a long time ago getting great battery life.[1 day]
After flashing all Cyanogen Mod builds for ICS and JB then to Paranoid Android. I have been getting bad battery.
I'm not blaming CM or PA .
Is anyone else getting bad battery life too?
I just flashed a nightly build for CM (12/25 to be exact). Its as bad as the rest after GB.

That is main reason why I stay with GB rom. I'll flashed every single IcS rom and JB rom. At end the day I'll be back with GB rom mainly Caulklin rom

Is your battery swollen? Take it out and spin it on a table on both sides. If it spins like a top its bad.

Sometimes it takes a few cycles to get the battery back into the mood.... Er I mean to display charging % properly.... After flash abuse battery is tends to report false %'s. And no its nothing to do with battery stat calibration.

I used ICS from August to December. The eye candy was nice, and the speed was enjoyable. It felt good to run the latest and greatest.
But the battery life was killing me. I have two batteries, a generic Chinese battery and a bloated OEM battery.
I would go 8 hours a day without even touching my phone, and the battery would be at 20 percent, or even dead. With the bloated battery , max was 3 hours.
I had to go back to gingerbread. Installed calkulins on December 3rd, and Juice defender.
Now I get 10+ hours with my Chinese battery, and 8+ hours with the bloated battery.

Good point! You should definitely take a look to see if the battery is swollen, it is an indicator that the cells are imploding which results in terrible battery life.
I've been hearing a lot of people having problems with their phone turning off right after the boot animation. After the boot animation, the screen flickers and the phone turns off. You will have to plug your phone in to your charger and then turn it back on for your phone to boot up. This is due to your battery going bad. Take it to the nearest Sprint store and they will replace it for free if you have insurance.
Battery is swollen 2 out of 4. 3 are ebay cheap OEM generic LOOKING, but 1 works. Then I have the Sprint offered extended battery works fine.
It has to be that. Some ROMS are killing battery quick too. I use KMS app to kill media server temporarily then it goes back on after a while maybe after 2 hours. But after I've underclocked 200/800 Pegasusq, noop i/o, I've had better life. Not excellent.

Leaked stock TW FL16 doubled my battery life from snipers latest PA 2.5.6. Main difference? Less time "awake" in battery stats. I switched back to stock ICS under same conditions (apps, gps, Wi-Fi on even when not connected) and the leaked stock TW FL 16 was still better. "Android OS" and "Android system" dropped to 4th and 5th on battery consumption percentages. Can't freakin wait till the AWESOME developers that support this device get source code. Then we'll see good battery life again. Maybe not GB good, but better than lately.

I'm going to try that modem, or try flashing the kernel on my PA. Might not work, but I gotta try.

From what I've used aosp ROMs tends to have pretty bad battery life in comparison to stock tw ROMs. My question is why and how it can be addressed? Now I've used a multitude of aosp ROMs including cm10.1, aokp, and root box just to name a few (all 4.2.2) and my battery life is pretty bad. I won't post any screenshots because it varies but take my word for it, took it off charger by 10am by 2pm (2 hours of screen on time later) it was already at 30% (this was underclocked to 1.2ghz mind you) I think my only option is the nexus 4 at this point as it has stock android and I've heard it is having fantastic battery life on 4.2.2. We'll see, anyone have input on this?

I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, I've tried underclocking, undervolting, brightness adjustments, battery saving apps, etc. Different kernels too (lean, kt, bms, stock, etc) with different governors and io schedulers. I'm so fed up at this point. I want to use my phone without worrying about if I'll have enough battery left. I refuse to use touchwiz.

You might have a bad battery. If you don't mind the bulk or weight, I would recommend getting the Zerolemon 7,000 mAh extended battery. Then you could go a couple of days without charging your phone.
If you do want to keep the slim and sleek look of the S3, Zerolemon also sells 2300 mAh batteries (which are 2400 mAh) for $20 for two of them on amazon.

I just bought the OEM 3000 battery for my S3 and on TW its amazing, I can go 14 hours, with playing pocketcast and google music almost all day and still have 40% left.
on AOSP roms, 4 hours in I'm at 60%
so something is def wrong with AOSP roms when it comes to battery
it sucks cause I REALLY wanna use Liquid smooth or CM, I loved them both but the battery was killing me, forced me to go back to TW

Ktoonz with a matching nightly.
Battery life actually varies per device an usage. I use some on my S3 an rarely touch it, the battery will last practically all day long. Also if you run a high over clock that will destroy battery life, along with too many apps running at the same time too. A simple underclock with a good governor can extend battery life too. Staying on wifi helps too. There's many ways to get good battery life for you device. As Faux123 said "every device is different". Even though we all have the same phones, some act differently.

Pretty much nothing you can do, other than maybe turning off sync and using airplane mode at night. Also, the latest nightlies after rc2 seem to have improved battery life, though it's still not impressive by any means...

I feel the same...I hate touchwiz so I'm forced to use CM10.1, which had been giving bad battery life ever since the 3.4 kernel update back in march.
I disabled all sync for all my accounts, use greenify, always keep screen brightness at lowest, only turn on WiFi or data when I need to use it, and did a clean wipe, yet the battery still drains faster than a bloated touchwiz ROM.

So I left my S4 under my pillow while I was making a nandroid backup via CWM Recovery and I fell asleep. When I woke up, the phone was still on recovery mode and it was really hot when I picked it up. When I rebooted the S4, a messaged popped up (after it finished booting). It said something about the battery overheating and my phone has stopped charging. There was also a red led light flashing and the battery icon was flashing as well. I can charge it now but I was wondering if there's any long term effects to this.

Although this hasn't happened on my GS4. This did occur on my previous phone (G2x) when I simply left it to charge overnight while running some unstable ROM/Kernel/OC combinations.
It happened multiple times and may have affected my overall battery life and possible system stability. But otherwise it never created a problem. I've often heard excessive OC or overheating can shorten the lifespan of hardware as well, but my last phone overheated multiple times and its been without fail for 2+ years.
I wouldn't worry about it too much, but always be careful.
So I have a zero lemon 9300mah battery and got the mean bean rom been almost a month that I charge my phone fully and in 2 hours it goes to 50% so I though it was the battery. I changed the battery to a new one still died fast than I thought it was my rom. So I changed that last night to liquid smooth and charged overnight. Woke up at 8.30 and now it's 11.00am I am at 33% from 100% what's going on please help me.

Sent from my SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
Either a CPU max run state...or a serious wake lock...or both..
Zero lemon getting drained like that is a serious problem...
I would suggest a "complete" wipe...and the flashing of a rooted stock rom as a test base...
If the device still exhibits the behavior...then a hardware issue may be at Work here...
If the device gets hot to the touch....then get the device to a stock and clean state...so some unmodified testing can take place...
Let us know...g
