Haven't tried both of them, so idk. I'm using the one stated on my siggy and it's good enough for me.
Viper44Android is hands down the best sound enhancer after the "discontinuation" of the NooxOxide. DSP manager is just a rubbish system app. I always deleted it after i flashed a new ROM. Tweaking the bass of DSP Manager just distorts everything...

I tried many till i removed both of them and using AC!D audio engine with audio clear + addon ( and I realized that it is the best of all) and by changing your headphone type in clear audio + addon u will feel the difference
I think viper4android is better than dsp manager
V4A is better......hands down....no contest......simples....
This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM
Guys, smth just pops out of my head.. Why CyanogenMod Devs put in DSP Manager as their system app? I mean it isn't a very good sound enhancer i'll say. Why they didn't build better Sound Enhancers just like V4A? :/
DSP is 'in-house' isn't it? (Dev'd by CM)......
I guess it's easier to include your own apps in a ROM than to ask permission to use someone else's......
This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM
Well I am quite satisfied with DSP manager but have never tried Viper... I read it has some problems with Android 4.4.4... Otherwise I'd give it a shot...

What, V4A? No problems using it on Kitkat ROMs. I'm a V4A user since it got the V2.xx.x released!

Okay, I checked it out with CM11M9 (Android 4.4.4) and it works like a charm... :good:
---------- Post added at 05:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:12 PM ----------
Well it looks as if I have been happy to early.
On a freshly started mobile, it works on the headphones.
Once I output sound to the speakers, v4a stops to work.
(Driver status -> processing = no)
Only a reboot then can get v4a work again.

Also on CM11M9 or on another Rom?
---------- Post added at 06:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:00 PM ----------
...seems I have figured it out...
there was an CM dsp manager effect still active for speakers...
I disabled it and now it works again all over...
:good:
Well, uninstall/remove any other sound "enhancement" system/user apps. It can conflict wth V4A. Also, sometimes, RAM can be an issue of V4A not running. I blame this device though.

Hi! All you know about Beats audio engine, but all version for SGA on our forum are old and obsolete.
So I want to introduce you to...
Beats audio engine + Alsa + AudioFXwidgetIncludes governed by ALSA.
for all ROM`s, but make backup first!!!
Thanks to RockoDev for (MOD)Beats Audio(2.3+up)
Thanks to contradictor from 4pda for experiments and new version with instruction, I`m only combined his update with Alsa in one file.
How to:0. First of all delete or freeze your DSP manager app!
1. Download files attached and copy them to your SD card.
2. Reboot to CWM and make backup!
3. Mount data, mount system, install beats_by_contradictor_V2.07_Alsa.zip update.
4. Reboot. First boot will take some time, not afraid - it is normal)
5. Install com.namakerorin.audiofxwidget.apk or download it from Google Play - it is free.
6. Start audiofxwidget and choose "Dialog" option in Select mode section. Choose 40% transparency (later you can change this parametr as you want to).
7. Disable any other equalizers in your player.
8. Add audiofxwidget to your Android Home Screen and choose EQ and BASS you prefer.
Enjoy the music!
P.S. if you prefer another Equalizer app, you can use yours instead of audiofxwidget.
Save for later.
The first time for me: first!
Thanks, dude!
Sorry to hear, that it's not compatible with stock...
seems good
Will test it
what do mean by alsa?
Thanks!

Naah, I would say that the most important factor is the headphones, those do make a huge difference. And my Ace is definitely better than my PC with a cheap Creative soundcard.
Excellent work!

For past six months I have been using this mod on my phone,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1873121 (V2)
It's really fantastic, I used to tick the Bass and Equalizer to Rock under DSP Manager and the Bass was just wow, BOOM! I am a bass-head fyi. But I was wondering I have been using it for so long and maybe there are better mods available at the moment. The problem is they come with that .zip package which you can'y uninstall easily, so I don't really wanna flash it unless I am sure.
Anyway, if anyone here is using something better than the above please mention here.
Once again, don't forget about BASS
Thanks in advance.

FX is for audio effects and XHiFI for a clear sound and better quality. Use both with FX Compatible mode. Everything is explained in OP.
This mod is crazy! Can't believe what I am hearing to! Awesome.
But I found that running the FX in Normal mode is better for me, if I use it in Compatible mode there is no effect if I change the settings in FX!
I use PowerAMP, now I don't know what settings should I use, too many of them! Guess I will have to keep playing with them!
Viper FX is incredible. You can get great sound out of N2, just need proper mods/sw. I use that too and sounds great with my Koss
Does your music seem dull and not up to par what you expected? Well Viper4Android is the best sound enhancement out there now,I even think it's even better than paid apps and Cyanogen ones.

This app is compatiple with TW, Google Edition, AOSP. Download the latest FX app install it,it will ask you to install the driver once install then reboot. Then go into phone settings sound/Music effect choose viper4android, open viper4android app hit menu/setting GE rom use "normal mode" TW and AOSP i think it's "campatible mod" not sure but try to switch it around and see what's working for you.

can you goto system/lib/soundfx and tell me what viper4android put in there? waiting on a call but I would like just put it in a build so it ships stock on the system so I can give it a go later on

hmm still have that slight crackling sound on vol up and the first keypress on the dialer
playing with it some more, you sure you have NO crackling when volume is all the way up and you press it up?
hmm I might have a solution, I think I fixed the sampling rate in the ROM itself, testing now

Hi i just get an lg g3 stylus cause i lost my old phone anyway i notice this devices auto stop my music and volume down througth all my life i always hear music at full volume it makes nothing to me im used to i just want to know what i have to disable on the settings or what i have to edit in build.prop ( i read some info in the g2 u can dosable this by editing this file but i dont know hows the string called in the g3 stylus or if the actually exist) im problably will have to root the device to install xposed to fix this ( is there an actually thread on this ?)

Bump
Years ago I used to use Tasker to max my volume when I plugged in a headset jack, because I'd listen to music in my car through the aux input, and this was the easiest way to deal with the volume.
So you could install Tasker, and have it max the volume when you plug in a headset.
I have to try that specific app but when i tried hearing saver (its similar) did not worked for my specific problem the volume still go down after few secs.
Any way thanks ill try it out and let you know
I think thats not what im looking for. Any way thanks.
I looking for a way to disable hearing protection
Its say
Media volume has been lowered to protect your hearing
It's called safe headset volume.
Xposed + g3tweaksbox or gravitybox = fixt
Ok thanks ill try that and let you know
Thanks

Well then on a stock ROM you should go for g3tweaksbox instead of gravitybox.
If it doesn't work I'd say module bug. Report it to dev & look for another in the mean time.

I works but not at 100%.
Because now the volume is not lowering and not getting the system messages.
But it stops the music when volume goes to peak level.

Not a module bug because G3 Tweakbox never had the ability to do this. You are giving inaccurate/false answers.
"Because now the volume is not lowering and not getting the system messages."
What G3 Tweakbox does and supposed to do.
"But it stops the music when volume goes to peak level."
Tweakbox never had this, but please do show me where it is.
