Which do you prefer?
Stock so far but that's probably because my phone is 2 weeks old and I can't s-off cuz I have a mac and too computer illiterate/lazy to load Linux just to s-off. I'm sure my preference will change once I flash a gpe Rom though...hopefully soon

Before this phone, I was AOSP all the way. Now, I can't find a good enough reason to leave stock. Kitkat may change that when we get some Roms
Sense 5.5. I'm a fan.

I'm using the full stock odex .10 release from Santod. This is the happiest I've been with a stock ROM. I use to prefer AOSP until the low camcorder volume issue came to surface. HTC really did am excellent job with both the hardware and software of this phone.

I like gpe the best. It retains the speediness of a sense rom, the beats audio for the speakers, and the ir blaster while having the AOSP interface. Best of both worlds

Running SlimBean right now. Working well.
Stock on NOS 2.0.1.
I've used AOSP roms for a few years and loved them. When I got this phone, I realized something...Why spend money on a new phone to just use the same old AOSP as I did with my last phone.
I think a major part of my change is that I actually like Sense, whereas I didn't care for touchwiz.
Stock! Love the Sense 5.5 updates!

AOSP here. Nothing at all against the stock rom, it is very well done for being stock. However there are some features I cannot get on Stock, and I prefer 3rd party launchers, making much of the stock setup worthless to me.
I do miss the camera app and higher signal strength. Also miss Blinkfeed, but Flipboard works well so I survive
Stock all the way.

GPE for me. But that is the only one I have tried on this phone so far. I didn't mind Sense, but it wasn't "stock" enough for me. I am using the Eclipse GPE Port for the time being, and will be switching to AOSP when Nitro gets the 4.4 AOSP version of Eclipse up and running. Then my vote may change.

If I were to restore to my stock backup, and tell it to update, will it take my root? I'm kinda thinking about unrooting, just cuz I'd like to go back to stock..... I think. Someone please tell me what will/might happen if I tell it to take the update.

Why not just download a rooted stock rom? Going back to stock if you unroot gains nothing. Unless you are taking the phone back.
Ok. I was kinda wanting to also make sure it was faster and I could freeze stuff if I needed to. I was using skyraider yesterday, but my speed went way down. But I also think it could've been due to the mods I was using.
Also, what is the fastest sense based ROM? Like uses least amount of RAM and CPU. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Any other sense 2.1/3 or even a 2.1/3.5 mix would be sick. Being able to hide icons on the lockscreen and ditch pages. Can someone mix those, or is that too hard?

In other words AOSP is the default build that is pure and unchanged from what Google puts out.

I think the only way to get the true google experience is to get a nexus since the proprietary drivers are already there and not much modification is needed.
TW throws the heat man I flashed codename last night played around a bit and went straight back to TW the features on it are just so more refined on this device even without root. This is the second time (1st being the Photon) I'd just prefer not to add custom roms or anything really since everything is already so smooth and already there. Maybe when CM10 goes to official builds I'll go back but by then I'll already have the Note 2 and Android 4.2 or 5.0 whatever will be out and possibly all CM10 work will stop.
Once CM10 is finalized I could see that being my daily driver. Touchwiz is cool but there something beautiful about the simplistic look and feel of AOSP builds

Had to root it obviously but I'm running stock rooted and I can't see myself ever changing that. Threw on derkernels alpha kernels to get some extra cpu speed. Not that it really needs it though. Sammie did a great job with TW on this bad boy. I used to flash CM for the lock screen features, notification toggles, speed, and battery life improvements. TW has all that now. Actually, its awesome but kinda sucks cuz it takes some of the excitement away from flashing new roms. Still, once JB is stable, I'll probably use AOSP more frequently.
I am having a hard time deciding if I want to go back to TW with stock JB. So far I am really happy with CM10 except for minor bugs here and there but what about you guys, Have you changed from CM10 to JB?
How do you like it?
Is it as fast and snappy'?
I miss the stock camera, the email layout, some gestures (txt to talk, Facebook integrated with contacts) and other lil' things here and there but that is about it.

I like both will use TouchWiz JB when need complete stock everything working 100% and then go to AOSP/AOKP when I want to have more fun with themes and such.
Yep I switched. I had been using all of the JB Leaks and had strangely poor performance but recently was able to attribute that to the "media server" taking up a disproportionate amount of CPU time and I was able to fix that. Everything's good.
I tried out the stock OTA and then switched right back. IMO nothing beats this stable CM 10.0 build.

Except having a camera that can save to SD card, ammirite!!!
Kidding aside, I switched back from CM to stock just a few days before the JB update and am glad I did. I've always used CM ROMs with previous phones, but this was the first time that there were simply too many things that should just work right that simply were not working right. The stock JB is definitely snappy, camera is great, GPS works instantaneously (was another gripe I was having with CM).

I have run this rom with and without the scripts, I don't see much if any difference. You don't have to use those if you don't want to. And you don't need an app to overclock, it has that in settings. But you can use that to undervolt and change I/o's. As phonetool stated, this rom runs really well on this phone. Give it a shot.

I had been using DKStunna's Global 10.1 JB ROM build 3 as my DD for a few months and it was mostly stable. It would lag out once in a while I was managing apps, but it was pretty fast with the built-in Nova Launcher. I got tired of not having a working camcorder and since DKStunna broke his Vivow and ceased development I decided to switch to ChillyBean's ParanoidAndroid/PAC 2.19 ROM. So far it's been awesome! It has "inverted" GAPPS, Facebook, and some other core system apps, which I'm not a fan of, but it's supposedly something you can change. I have a working camcorder again (after a few tweaks), which is what I was looking for. It looks like ChillyBean broke his Vivow also so I don't know how much more development he'll be able to do, which is very sad. Anyway, I highly recommend the latest ParanoidAndroid.

I dunno. That's a tough one. They both have their pros and cons. I can't honestly say that I think one is better than the other. If I had a low end device that might be a different story. I've been sticking with TW lately.

After trying pretty much every ROM compatible with my TMO S4, I keep coming back to the TMO TW ROMs. Most importantly, you can't get wi-fi calling any other way. But, as Slim TW ROMs have become more common and my comfort level with making changes has risen, I have given up the idea of dual booting with an ASOP/GE/MIUI/etc. ROM as my daily driver & TW for wi-fi calling, and am now back to focusing on getting as stripped-down a TW as possible. I care nothing for eye candy and just want the quickest & most stable setup, and TW has fit the bill best for me.
TW (by a slight margin)
I prefer TW because of the camera
AOSP is still very snappy but TW is catching up to that standard (for me)
I use stock TW unrooted 4.3 btw
For me it depends on what is available at the time. Right now I've got the latest 4.3.1 cyanogenmod nightly:

AOSP all the way, I hate touchwiz it's so ugly.
TouchWiz seems to have much better battery life. I do prefer stock because I hate a lot of extra cruft but if that can be removed, it's not so bad.
Plus Wi-Fi calling is awesome for battery life.

I know it works on AOSP for the HTC One, but if you know someone who has it working on the S4 AOSP roms, you should advise that person that there is a considerable bounty built up of people willing to click the donate button a few times for a working installable Wifi Calling APK.
interesting to read the comments. I've been going back and forth between TW and AOSP ROMS. Is having the newest Android release the only major advantage of AOSP over TW? I don't think the look of AOSP is a valid reason since you can install launchers (i.e. Nova Launcher) to get the AOSP look on a TW ROM.

exactly.. I love aosp but im using tw with nova. I gotta have battery life
what changes does samsung make kernel side? Are the improvements made to the asop kernel? It does seem like TW has better battery life...
also if someone has wifi calling ported... why is this staying in the shadows??
I like cm 10.2 stable, my daily driver, but when wicked v9 comes out, I'm going to be jumping on that real quick.
