Now that I have had this tab for a month. Its now starting to act up. Browser force closing, touch screen can be difficult to navigate (too sensitive) it will often open apps when swiping through screens, and overall performance is getting really slow. I have added a memory card to free up some memory but doesn't help. So I'm wondering what the community experience for us that has had the device for awhile.

I really like my A100 overall. Three things that are starting to kill me about it are:
1: Battery life; I've attempted to remove all/some/certain apps, turn off syncing, set sync long, turn wifi/gps off, remove "bloat", turn screen brightness low etc.. For the last two weeks I've tried a lot of different methods to save battery. Still, last night I went to sleep with it at 60-70%(on my latest method to save battery) and woke up with it completely drained. Might need to exchange it I guess.
2: Viewing angles. Thought I could deal with it no problem. However, when I use it as an e-reader (or anytime is portrait) the viewing angles make it difficult to look at the screen for extended periods of time. I have to tilt the left side back more so I don't strain my eyes.
3: Live wallpapers; Many are unusable. I have 4 widgets total and only use 3 home screens. On many of the live wallpapers I use, the swiping of screens either is very laggy, or has a very obvious delay in the time I swipe to the time the screen actually moves.
Performance has started to get slightly worse, not too bad though. I have started to get force closes on some apps and the browser. May end up returning / selling this and get something else. Pity, I really like it other than the first two annoyances..I can live without live wallpaper.
Battery life is a sore point for me as I'm sure it is for everyone. The screen isn't great, but it's not bad enough to bother me much.
I haven't had any software problems fortunately, or at least not any that aren't common with the whole Honeycomb live beta that Google has been running all year. Hopefully ICS will fix a lot on the software side.
That being said, I'm coming from a Nook Color(with a Kindle Fire also considered). Since I paid in the same price range for this($189 on Black Friday) the trade offs as compared to the Nook/KF aren't too bad and at the end of the day I do like having a full tablet with out having to turn it into an ugly hack job(I'm especially looking at you Nook Color)
For $200, I'd say I got my moneys worth, and I might even say it's worth it for the $260 BestBuy is still selling them for, but anything higher, and I'd say it'd be too much to pay for this thing. It's not a high quality tablet, the screen and battery life seal the deal on that one, but it's definitely not the worst tablet I've seen out there. It's miles better than all the cheap Chinese crap tablets, but it doesn't to much to exceed the standards of the "upper crap" brands like Archos.
I'd say the thing is worth about $250.
For now, I think 7" is the sweet spot for tablets. (I previously owned a 10.1" Asus Transformer, which had great battery life and a beautiful screen but was awkwardly big/heavy).
And that said, the A100 is the best 7" tablet currently available (including the new 7" Galaxy Tab, simply because it lacks a microSD slot. I wouldn't trade my microSD slot for 3 more hours of battery life and an IPS screen, especially if the deal added $100+ bucks to the price.)
- I give the screen a B+ (I do wish it didn't solarize from the bottom viewing angle, but it's otherwise bright and clear.)
- Real world battery life, C+ (6 hours is fine enough in practice because I charge nightly, but it'd be awesome to have 12 hours--save me from bringing the charger on short trips, etc.)
- The industrial design I don't care at all about. I have it in the phenomenal Blurex leather case, so the lame blue plastic/silver swirl thing on the back is a non-issue to me.
Really, Acer made all the right compromises. My next tablet will probably be the Transformer 3 when it comes out in a year, hopefully it'll have 300 ppi screen and will dual boot Jelly Bean and Windows 8. If Windows developers embrace ARM , I think a Transformer 3 + laptop dock will mean I'll never buy another PC.
Until tablets can replace laptops (early 2013), a cheap but fullspeed 7" is a great device.
I've had mine for about 2 weeks and I have seen some slowdown when booting up and scrolling in the app drawer from time to time but most likely due to having installed so many apps. Battery has been better for me. I have my wifi to turn off when screen is off and also have a wifi toggle widget to turn off wifi when I'm playing a game or sometimes I just turn off wifi completely when I'm not using the tablet which only drains my battery about 1-2% per hour. Overall usage I would say I get the normal 5 hour mark. Viewing angle is not much an issue for me as I always look at the tablet straight on and its much sharper than my older Samsung tab 7. The only issue I still have is the screen not being responsive or some are saying too sensitive. There's a thread on this already. I'm hoping this will be fixed via software. This is my 3rd one however since my other 2 had wifi issues. I fixed one but it still had screen touch issue so I exchanged and all 3 was the same. So far I'm happy for the $248 I purchased it for. I bring this thing everywhere i go since it fits inside my jacket pocket.
Mainly battery life is the sore point for me.
The screen is more sensitive than my iDevices but nowhere as bad as my LG Evo phone was. A bit more sensitive than the Blackberry Playbook.
Disabling the capacitive home button was a must for me. I would hit it so many times when holding it in landscape view, it drove me crazy.
The screen, I agree with everyone else about the viewing angle from the bottom not being good.
Of course, there is always room for improvement. The hardware in the PB is great, especially the screen and battery life but the software is way lacking in comparison to Android.
At $250, it is a good tablet. I wouldn't pay more for it than that.
It's the perfect size and I take it almost everywhere.

The Galaxy Tab 7 Plus does have a microSD slot.

I bought one.for my daughter and have been playing with it for 2 weeks now..Rooted it as soon as.I took it out of the box and installed a few root apps like ad free to keep her from clicking on ads.
For $250 I have to say I am pretty impressed. I have loaded it up with a bunch of educational apps as well as games. So far I have not had one force close on any app. Battery life is ok and WiFi is fastest device off same router as my dinc and t60.
I am not sure what you guys expect for 250, but if you can find any Android device that doesn't need.to be charged daily, then you aren't using it.

My thoughts exactly for the price it cant be beat. Very happy with the purchase. here is a screen cap of my a100 i never turn off wifi, this was with light usage. with regular use gaming/browsing for me I still get 8hrs.
For personal use the A100 is the perfect tablet, it easily fits in the inside pocket of a jacket, and despite complaints from others that the screen and battery life is not ideal, I think the screen is adequate and after 7 weeks I once had an empty battery. It is complete with Android 3.2, HDMI (works great as HTPC), 3.5mm audio connector, GPS, dual camera (not its strongest point), micro USB slave (missing USB host), Micro SD slot, and replacable battery. Upgrade to ICS is available next month. Moreover, it is much more affordable as similar products from its competitors.
Has anyone tried to use the tablet with it lying on any surface. Recently i discovered that with it on a bed or table lying flat the touch screen is practically unusable. Using a stylus for note taking is useless, it doesn't register every stroke and writing is broken up.

Yeah the touchscreen has some issues. If you lightly swipe the touchscreen on the browser it will zoom in I dunno why

If you must use the A100 while it's lying on a table or a bed, try turning it upside-down first. There is no backlight on the bottom edge, only on the top edge. Viewing from above the top edge, or flipping the A100 upside down and viewing from below, is much better that way. Not perfect, but better.
Another remedy is to get an easel case, so you can prop the A100 at a comfortable viewing angle.

Thanks I found that trick out from using a Viewsonic GTab. What I was explaining is that the tablet needs to be grounded to work properly. So basically if your not holding it the tablet struggles with registering your gestures. Whem laying it on a bed or table the tablet touch screen would be very sporadic.

This has mostly fixed the issue for me, still shows up every once in a while but after doing this fix there was a huge improvement for me.
WiFi keeps turning itself off every few minutes. checked all the settings and it still does it. none of my other Android devices do this, only the Tab 7"
after two months of use.
I'm very satisfied of this tab. No "problem" at all.
Battery life: is good if used well. Obviously could be better, but with a double core and a so large display is very good. It surprises me when i play HD games for long and i see almost no change in battery life.
Wifi: signal reception is good, no problem. Connection speed at my home is almost 1Mb/sec checked on tablet.
Display and touch: angle of sight is small for a tablet, but colors and luminosity is very good. Touch screen is very very sensible but i like it. With the screen saver the touch is perfect.
Performance: I'm agree with my colleagues about the live wallpaper. Sometimes they are too slow. The computing speed of this tab is very very good. Opening apps, photos and hd video is vey fast. It's definitely a fast tab
Camera: Is good enough. I've recently bought a Galaxy S 2 with a 8mp camera and I see the difference from the 5mpx of the A100 but is still capable of very high detailed photos.
Voip and VideoCalls: I use this two features a lot since I'm often away from home and both are very good. No lag at all. Video is clear and fluid, audio too. The microphone volume is low I think, but is not a problem if you can hold it closer to you.
Handling and Style: I can bring it inside a pocket and go wherever I want. Is not heavy, it doesn't need a separate bag to be kept with you. Is the perfect size in terms of mobility. The shape is cool and can be handled easily. Maybe the back of the cover would be better completely gray or black.
No problem apart from the fact that i cannot delete bloat cuz i dunno which system app will brick if i delete em, weight since i hold it in portrait mode often, FCs, lastly screen ratio. Prefer it wider and shorter.

If you mess up you should be able to just flash any of the update.zip in the rom thread to bring those files back. You will need to reroot if were already rooted.

So this is my first foray into the Android world, coming from an iPhone 4 that I liked but have been bored with for quite some time.
First impressions are mostly positive. The phone is obviously built well and sits in the hand fine despite its large size. The screen is great - more than enough brightness, extremely crisp text and great colors. The thing is extremely fast - pretty much no lag that I can find, even when I turn on ECO mode. I just got it this afternoon and used it with the charge it had from the box, so I can't comment fully on battery life yet. But it seems to be power hungry so far, though that was doing a lot of initial syncing and keeping the screen on a good bit.
Camera, as several reviews said, is average at best.
If you have any questions about it, let me know and I'll give my findings. I do have a couple of issues, though:
1. The phone gets quite warm, even after the mystery update. And I'm talking about just surfing the net and downloading apps - no games or anything intensive at all. If you try to turn the display up past 80 or 90%, you get an alert saying "Unable to further brighten due to temperature increase. Try again later." While it's plenty bright at 50%, this is completely unacceptable. If they don't do something about that quickly, I'm probably returning it.
2. I can't find a way to disable LTE. I'm getting 25-30mbit down here in north Atlanta, but I won't need that a lot of the time. I'd prefer to put it on HSPA+ to save battery (and, presumably, keep the thing cool.)
3. Voice Dial stinks. It "gets" what I'm asking for through my Motorola Roadster 2 speakerphone about 20% of the time. This worked 90% of the time with my iPhone. Not sure if there's a better dialer, or if this will improve with Jelly Bean.
Any input appreciated. I'll probably root it tonight or tomorrow, so if anyone needs anything (safe) for bootloader purposes just let me know.

Thanks for the update. I was planning on picking one up tomorrow, but there seems to be more overwhelming negatives than positives from those that got theirs early. I think Google may have really dropped the ball on anointing LG as their official hardware vendor for the Nexus 4. There seems to be widespread overheating issues with the Nexus 4 which shares the exact same hardware as the Optimus G, sans LTE of course. Cause for concern of the reliability of the internal components as well as the glass back having cracked in 2 review units is pretty disheartening, think I'm going to hold off for now.
1. OG has auto bright limit. Proportionately with temp, phone apply bright limit. It is not a hardware trouble.
If your phone is too hot, return it.
2. Try *147359# at dial. It may show popup menu.
So far no problems, one thing is annoying - notification LED is on the power button, can't really see it, also doesn't stay on, just blinks once, kinda dumb.
So I really am liking this phone. Its not perfect, but its incredibly fast, has a great screen, and has some good customization possibilities.
Going to try Eco mode tomorrow to see how it performs and compare battery life. Seen some reviews that say it nearly doubles battery life, which would make it quite good.
The code mentioned above gave me an error, so I'm still looking for a way to turn off 4G.
As for the heat, I got that message in the parking lot at after I got it and again when it was plugged in, but its cool now on the couch.

I've had no issues with the temp on mine as of now. But then again I set my brightness at 63%. My lite blinks more then once but it only blinks I think like every 30 seconds or so. I'm still watching that I could be wrong. Going to to a you tube review on this tomorrow. I will post it here and on the at&t optimus g forum as well. So far I'm loving this phone.

I just switched from iphone 4 to this too and I gotta say it feels ridiculous looking at how small the iphone 4 screen is now after getting used to this.
For me the biggest complaints are the camera. I really don't like the quality and the other is the width. I can't get used to holding it. This is probably just a personal problem but it's feels too wide for me.
Other than that it's a great phone. Very fast sans project butter.

Back on the heat thing. For whatever reason, I haven't had any more heat problems since the first couple of days. No issues.

Further overall impression after several days of use:
1. Battery life is so-so. Getting through a whole day is a 50/50 proposition, which is a significant drop from my old iPhone 4.
2. Camera, as mentioned, is mediocre.
3. Speed is still great.
4. Screen is still great.
5. Sound is pretty good, but not as good as iPhone 4. Signal from the headphone jack is a bit quieter than i4.
6. Internal speaker is kind of tinny and weak.
7. Voice calls over ear piece are plenty loud and sound good.
I really want to like this phone, but I'm coming up with some limitations. We'll see what happens with the development, which could help #1 and that's my biggest concern.

Being "very particular" is good in my book. Thanks to everyone on this thread. I hope to see a lot more join in.
On the heat issue, based on my experience with my DInc...
Charging really heats the battery, so doing anything will lead towards overheating.
Holding it in your hand (the more skin contact the worse) or laying it on it's back (worse on a soft surface) prevents heat from escaping.
Releasing heat (IMO) is best done screen down, propped up against something, so that the phone is barely touching any surface. (Alternatively, lay it screen up on a cold hard surface, and move it periodically... contradicting my previous point.)
I'm itching to upgrade, but I'm waiting to see what's what. The LGOG is the current point of reference for all other droids out there. So I'm really hoping to hear many good things (esp. root and unlocked bootloader). But I also really want to hear all of the nitpicking details, because I expect "perfection" from everything. [OT] Yes, I am disappointed a lot of the time. After all, I'm using Microsoft at work and home. [/OT]
For the LED thing, do any market apps work on this?

After a week
After owning this phone for about a week and using the Note 2, Galaxy s3, and the One X+ for a bit, I think this is the best phone out there as far as fluidity goes, and its not even on jelly bean. I wish I can rip off the camera on One X+ and glue it on the optimus G but oh well.
If you're holding out because its not perfect, you're right its not. But you'll be hard pressed to find a phone besting this in the 4.7" form factor for a while. Now if you want to go to a phablet, I would suggest you to try the Note 2 for a bit, but you have to make sure you don't wear skinny jeans, have big hands, are proud of yourself (people look at you when you hold it up to your head) or not scared of face cancer (it warms up your face like nothing when talking for a while). But it's a real great phone, I wish there was a Note 2 mini with the same specs.
Of course, there is the Nexus 4, which I got to play with once, for like 5 minutes, and that was awesome. Sadly, you know all about what it's missing, and personally, I thought that between Jelly Bean 4.2 and no microD or LTE, I would go sans Jelly Bean 4.2. I can live with Jelly bean 4.1.
I dropped my screen brightness about 5% each day till i got used to it and now my optimus G lasts longer and I have no problem looking at a < 40% screen brightness indoors. =/ It helps with the heat.. actually I don't feel much heat anymore either and I still dont use the eco mode. It would be nice if it could automatically use eco for less intensive things and then switch to full for games, but it seems to just stay at eco the whole time.
Hope this helps anyone being on the fence. Oh and I use atnt
I actually prefer my optimus g over my nexus. Better battery life. Plus I scores better on benchmarks.

They aren't identical. From an operation perspective they have different OS and different radio.
Seems like JB for phones isn't "fully baked" (or at least not for these LG devices). Anandtech got better performance out of the N4, when they chilled it in the freezer 1st.

True,what I really meant was same processor/ram, however much more to the phone. I want a phone today, however the N4 looks better in some ways the LGOG in more. If I wasn't sick i would be at AT&T or Best buy right now

Doesn't have 4GB of ram.
Doesn't have a 4K screen.
Doesn't come with a chicken... Every top stuff comes with plus a chicken.
Pros:
BEAUTIFUL screen. It is gorgeous and very bright. You can't really say that about many tablets. It almost reaches to the level of my old Transformer Prime at 600 nits (it's about 583 nits at brightest)
Fast. This quad core S600-esque processor is so much faster than anything I've had for mobile. It's one of the reasons I upgraded
Cheap. It's $230 or $270. I got the $270 32GB which is roomy enough for my needs.
Long battery. I haven't had it for long, but I can already tell it is going to last almost as long as my TFP.
Small and can be held in a single hand.
REALLY good wifi reception.
GPS that works very well even inside
It's stock Google and will be updated as soon as KitKat or future Android upgrades come out. Plan for 2+ years of upgrades and support.
Loud stereo speakers
Support for practically any 3G/LTE data connection you'd like in the US.
Unlocked bootloader. You can modify anything inside this tablet.
Grippy matte-plastic back.
Sexy look, IMO
Thin and light.
Bluetooth Smart and 4.0 support. This will increase in popularity with wearable Bluetooth devices.
Cons:
Small screen. I think I would be happier with an 8" screen, but it's something I can live with.
No microSD slot. This is something that I can live with, and if you want, you can get a microUSB to microSD adapter.
Non-removable battery. You won't worry about this unless you are truly a road warrior. It should last you till you want to upgrade or longer.
No micro HDMI port. This, again, can be something I live with. You can use MHL I believe if you need it.
No TouchWiz or other OEM skins. Nothing I lose sleep over, just something for those who find the skinned editions of Android better than regular stock.
No camera flash. Doesn't bother me, I don't plan on taking pictures much with this tablet.
A few launch issues, maybe. It seems to be not too big (there are many users who probably don't have problems than the people who complain about it here) and is being resolved fairly quickly.
No vibrator. My hands miss the vibrations of my TFP, but it's ok.
No longer has a secure element with NFC. This means no more Google Wallet or other NFC-banking apps. You can still beam contacts and such. Not a big deal.
No 802.11ac wifi support. This isn't a big thing yet and is still just starting to get into mainstream routers. With the life time of your tablet, you probably won't see many AC routers until 2 years from now, and you probably won't be missing much. People still use .11g standards to this day.
The speakers apparently emit a hiss at low volume due to some digital volume reduction instead of using an actual amplifier.

Drop tests show no survivals. Get a case or else, which might increase weight and size.
There is only T-Mobile offering Lte in USA. Verizon clueless on imei. Checking at&t Lte again tomorrow, but no tethering regardless.

I don't think there are any real cons to this tablet. Just personal preferences. Even the speaker hiss isn't noticeable unless you have ear pressed against the speaker. Overall its a very solid tablet.

I've had no problems such as the aforementioned dust or light bleeds. Rooted out of the box, put carbon on it, never had a random reboot either.
The only con so far is that I can't use my 8-bitty Bluetooth gamepad. The new Bluetooth stack doesn't support it.

Actually if your lucky like me I dropped mine today actually the screen kinda popped loose a little it cut off my heart stopped lol (literally) but I snapped the screen in turned right on I almost cried lol only thing it did was deleted some apps I had weird but no issues now and still looks new

How are you liking the Edge so far? Today will be my first full day with a white 64gb, so far it's been great. I spent yesterday setting it up, kind of a pain coming from an N6.
I haven't noticed any issues, just small software stuff. Occasionally the phone will lag behind for a split second, and for some reason Chrome will not stay open in the multitasking. Even if you switch immediately back, it refreshes the page.
Build quality is great though, feels better and safer than the N6.
Anyone have any tips and tricks?

Black 64GB. Came from a bootloader unlocked S4.
I really miss the AOSP feel I had gotten used to, but touchwiz is substantially improved since my last interaction with it on the S4 like two years ago. The phone is a pleasure to hold and use. The screen is readable in direct sunlight, unlike my S4. Love the edges. From a software standpoint they are pretty worthless but the effect they create is pleasing and using things like the pull out drawers in Google Apps is really slick. The phone is also pretty snappy, albeit with some microstutter here and there. Camera launches just as fast as they claim and takes incredible pictures, especially in low light.
I am a bit worried by the battery, however. I'm a pretty heavy user and I doubt it'll ever last me a day without some charge stops. Using the factory charger is stupid fast, so I guess that'll be my panacea for the battery issue.
A few major annoyances I've had with the software:
- I haven't been able to sort out is how to decrease the text size in notifications
- I wish I could change more options in the notification pull down, such as a two stage pull down for quicksettings like in AOSP and the option to get rid of s finder and quick connect completely. They're just taking up space!
- why can't all apps go in multi window?
Coming from the Note 4...actually I still have it. The S6E - 128GB Sapphire black is my 2nd line that I use just as much as my primary (N4)
The S6E is refreshing. It's fast, sleek, and extremely well built. I have how Samsung slimmed down Touchwiz ...I actually like it a lot.
Battery is pretty good, not bad by any means....We'll have to wait until we can get some real world usage ....1-2 days isn't going to say much.....we need data after weeks, which will come in due time...
The Edge is comfortable in the hands and not awkward at all. I still can't get over how nice the screen is. Wow....
Camera is super fast to launch and takes notability better pictures than the Note 4, which is/was the best so that says a lot.
I love how the S6 in general is a precursor to the Note 5. Until ~Sept. I"m excited to enjoy having a phone phone again.....
I have an unlocked T-mobile Note 4 I'm using on the AT&T network, and I love it. I ordered my 128GB black S6 edge on March 23rd with regular free shipping and received it yesterday, which is amazing. BTW, the regular S6 already appears to be on back order.
This is one beautiful phone. A huge design turnaround for Samsung. Coming from a Note 4 as my daily it seems real small. It is going to take me some time to get used to it. To me, at first, the edges (literally) of the phone seemed real thin and sharp and felt a little weird in hand. The more I use it though, the more I'm getting used to it.
It seems zippy and very responsive. I'm not a big fan of touchwiz and although it seems much improved, there is still alot of crapware, just mostly moved into folders. I like Nova launcher and put that on it pretty much right away. Nova is very smooth. No stutter I can detect. I've had it less than 24 hours, but this phone is a work of art.
Oh and the new fingerprint reader is awesome. Super quick unlock right after you place your finger on the button. Totally usable compared to the old fingerprint lock.
it's kinda slow to my liking. i came from Nexus 6 64GB and i've been using S6 Edge since Monday. awesome grip feeling, and the camera, superb!!! i still hate TW launcher though. i think it is what's causing for the phone to lag.

I just got mine today! Switching from the HTC One m7 GPE.
Still find the handfeel of the device really nice- the screen is super crisp in comparison too. The device feels lighter too. It is very snappy in comparison to the m7, but obviously a comparison to a 2 year old phone doesn't say too much.
I've only had it a few hours now, so nothing really to say on battery life or the camera.
Going from a GPE device to Touchwiz was frustrating, though. Even though I've replaced the keyboard, launcher, and calendar, I still hate how bloated the settings pulldown menu is and how locked down the lockscreen is. I'll try it out for a month or so, and maybe after that they'll have some root options for me to play with...

Got mine yesterday, coming from a TMO HTC One m7.
My m7 was lagging pretty badly especially w/ the latest 5.0 update so not a fair comparison. Also I had the horrible purple issues w/ my m7 camera.
Anyway, S6 Edge is great so far. Hard to tell on battery life, I was used to charging all the time anyway w/ my m7 so I don't think it'll be an issue.
Phone is fast, haven't had any lag. Fingerprint scanner works great, only thing is that the location based smart unlock doesn't seem to work but it's less of an issue because the fingerprint scanner works well.
I've had some issues swiping in from the left to pull up a menu, I think that's mainly because I need to get used to it. I think I have to swipe from further out but it feels a little strange to do w/ the curved edge.
Also, I keep mistaking the back of the phone for the front but I think that's also just a matter of getting used to it. I'm sure in 2 days, I'll be fine with it.
I'm not a fan of all the stuff on the pull down notifications. I wish I could get rid of the S Finer and Quick connect row.

Im coming from the S3 and I'm glad I waited for something superior like the S6. I probably wouldnt had upgraded if I had a Note 4. The S6 is true replacement for the S3 or either of the other S's. The UX is smooth with an occasional random drag once in awhile, to avoid lag just clear your recents, clear ram and don't turn off background processes under developers options; also disable whatever you dont need thats taking up excessive ram. Its too early to make a call on battery life, but im assuming it would be similar to my S3 on stock battery, which is fine given the resoltion of the screen compare to the S3.

Hard to believe you would have to do those steps with a phone like this. Have you noticed a certain amount of ram required for smooth use? Have you noticed what apps seem to cause the lag more than others?

Disableing apps is just something I do anyway to prevent them from keeping unneccesary cached ram and Ive noticed it helps. Ive noticed that if ram is kept at 80 to 85% is best. Greenify would help minimize ram use by hybernating apps without disabling them, but I dont want to root just yet.

Unused hardware is good for battery. If all ram is occupied all the time then its not possible to run heavy apps as the phone will start lagging.

So far whatever I disable has worked for me! I can report that yesterday I completed the first battery cycle and that it lasted from 9am to 1am and still had 15% left battery with a total screen on time of 4 hours. From 9am to 530p I was at work using wifi (no wifi calling enable) and poor signal due to the place where I work (a hospital). From 630p to 11p cell was on stand by most of the time at which battery was held constant in straigth line. I keep syncing and location settings off all the time, no push notifications from FB or TWT or any social media app. I do use whatsapp, text, fb,twt and chrome a lot thru the day along with family a few times a day. So all in all, its pretty moderate usage and so far Im satisfied with the battery.

Came from the Note 4 and the S6 is easily the best phone I have ever used. I work at Tmobile and have owned everything from the Sidekick, blackberry, iPhones and androids. I have never owned a phone this blazing fast before. I seriously tried to make it lock up the first day I owned it and couldn't. Silky smooth and looks amazing. I think Samsung finally knocked it out of the park

Same here coming from a Note 4 to the S6 Edge on day 3. Most Note 4 owners think the S6 is a downgrade. S6 does do somethings better. I don't care about the s-pen, SD slot and removable battery. I had a Jump to use and love new designs + the free year of Netflix is nice. I like that I don't even really feel my phone in my shorts since the Edge ridiculously thin. I don't work for T-mobile but they know me by name. Lol. I left Samsung after the Note 2 because I was tired of the same old designs. Went LG and had the G2,G3, Flex. Came back to Samsung for fhe Note 4 and now with Edge. Samsung finally listened to people and made a very nice looking phone with excellent build quality.

Firstly I came from the Nexus 5.
Next, I bought this phone 100% off the reviews, I haven't seen one in person until it came in. When mine came in and I saw the screen and the pictures it took, it surprised me. The screen looks so amazing, My GF has the Note 4 and it somehow looks better than her phone. I have the S6 Edge, probably won't use it that much, But I use twitch and Youtube a lot so hopefully they update that app with some useful Edge features. While the fingerprint sensor was a pain to setup, it has worked flawlessly with no hiccups thus far. Phone itself looks really really beautiful. I'm glad I made this purchase. If you are on the fence, try one out. You will be amazed.
So I chose the pixel xl as my Note 7 replacement and although it's not a bad phone, honestly it's not nearly as good as the s7 edge or even the note 5 ( I haven't owned only Samsung phones those are just my last two).
I thought Google assistant (the main reason I chose this phone) was supposed to be a big deal but is there really any major difference than using "OK Google" on any other android phone? Also, no wireless charging or microsd slot? Seriously, what makes this phone worth the sticker price?
I know this sounds like just a rant but after reading all of the positive reviews about this phone, I feel really let down after actually using it and I honestly feel like I'm missing something major here. Anyone else?

I think your perspective is right on. If your coming from a 3 year old phone, this phone is mind blowing. If your coming from a premium Samsung or iPhone, its meh at best. I upgrade every year and to me its just a small iteration. My Nexus 6 is still my favorite phone. The Pixel is a $500 phone.
My thoughts exactly. No micro SD slot (just to get user to store everything on googles cloud) no wireless chrging(though I give them credit for the 15 minute plug in giving 7 hours of use. The phone is efficient. I've gotten almost 5 hours of screen time with heavy use. The call quality seems to be better than Samsung. HD calls on verizon sound really good on my end and others have stated this is the clearest I've sounded to them in a while(maybe the design using glass at the top of the back for better antenna reception really does matter). I like googles launcher. But this phone starves for faetures like "Hidden folder" on the note 7, good lock thru galaxy apps, notification light blinks so slow i can unlock the phone before the light flashes. No always on screen. From the front the phone feels like i'm holding a galaxy S4. The chin is huge for no reason. 5.5 in screen is no longer "XL". Should make a 6 inch screen for the XL. CAmera is great. No numbered notifications(a little number in a bubble showing how many new texts or calls) no batter percentage option. Finger print sensor on the back is easier to use and it's fast. I guess all the fuss is about google assistant. To me it's not qite a flagship but lets remember. Google(like all other phone companies) need to you to give this 1 up when the next one drops. So guarantee the next one has wireless charging and or a SD slot. Just my opinion.

Thank you! I really don't think it's a bad phone but the price and the hype is just crazy! It seriously feels cheap to me. I know it's all metal but because of the different textures on the back it feels like plastic unless it's cold. It's not even water resistant and the top and bottom bezels are way too big to look like a phone that costs this much.
If Samsung or apple came out with this phone they'd be in serious trouble but Google does it and it's some kind of revolution? The assistant isn't going to be even close to useful until it's available in the Play store for everyone. It's just missing so much that phones released 6 months ago costing $100-$200 less already have.
I was really excited for this phone after the note 7 thing and I'm just really disappointed. I'm keeping my note 7, fire hazard or not.
Google's phones will never, ever, ever include an SD card slot, ever again. This will always be a choice you have to make with Google, because they religiously believe in the cloud. I just tell people to get a Moto if they want a Nexus-like with SD card support. However, the unlimited photos and videos at full quality for free offered with the Pixel is amazing.
As for wireless charging, now that I have quick chargers everywhere I stopped using wireless charging with my Nexus 6 months ago. It's just sooooo sssllllooowwwwww. And the Pixel charges quite quickly, even on non-QC chargers. For instance, it seems to be sinking quite a bit of current from my powered hub, which just supplies 5V but can source about 3A per port. It can basically max out any charger that's not that stupid OnePlus proprietary one. Not a big deal.
I even like the bezels, because they give you a place to put your hands when holding it in landscape.
I find the suggestion that they should have released another 6" behemoth interesting, because I remember when the N6 was launched there was a lot of grousing that there were no small flagships left. The common refrain was 2 models, one 5.5" and one 5". As someone who loved the Nexus 6 in basically every respect, it's just a tiny bit too big. I am a 6' tall person with normal hands for that height, and I can't reach nearly the whole screen with one hand. It's not a one handed device, at all. The Pixel, on the other hand, seems to be a perfect size, in addition to being better in every respect compared to the at-the-time brilliant Nexus 6.
Also, you can totally get battery percentage with System UI Tuner. Just hold down the settings icon in the notification shade.
well, if you like the look and style of an IPhone, the Pixel XL is a good choice for you; yeah, no stereo speakers is a drag, but I like the Assistant, and it is the fastest phone I have ever used.
the hype is excessive, but thats what we get with everything now a days..

Does your settings gear now have a dim wrench next to it? If so open settings and scroll down to the bottom. You should see "System UI Tuner". Or, you know, you can google it yourself since I gave you all of the relevant information.

Now see here. This is a perfect example. It's all a matter of taste and perspective. The previous google phone users seem to love the Pixel/XL . I come from a long line of Sammy Note phones. Honestly I thought the Note edge was a great phone but with a case on it ..it was a bit to wide for me. actually to me the S6 edge plus was the perfect phone size wise and aesthetically. the 5.7 inch screen and the glass back were perfect. I also have the moto Z force just for the mods. When I think about it, with no bezels and a shortened chin the 5.7 inch screen of the S6 edge+ was basically perfect for me. As far as "wireless" charging I did have to have "fast wireless charging". It's not as fast as a cord with rapid charge but sometimes you just want to sit the phone down and get a quick boost. Not that I'm back to plugging in I do miss fast wireless. Again the assistant is cool, the camera is really decent. anyway.. to each his own. On edit.. thanks for the SUI heads up.. I like it. However,, that mini number in the battery is virtually unreadable.

Thank you! I really don't think it's a bad phone but the price and the hype is just crazy! It seriously feels cheap to me. I know it's all metal but because of the different textures on the back it feels like plastic unless it's cold. It's not even water resistant and the top and bottom bezels are way too big to look like a phone that costs this much.
If Samsung or apple came out with this phone they'd be in serious trouble but Google does it and it's some kind of revolution? The assistant isn't going to be even close to useful until it's available in the Play store for everyone. It's just missing so much that phones released 6 months ago costing $100-$200 less already have.
I was really excited for this phone after the note 7 thing and I'm just really disappointed. I'm keeping my note 7, fire hazard or not.

The one thing I noticed straigh away was the crazy fast response everything on the pixel has compared to the note 7, there would be so many times that the Note 7 would visibly stutter even just a second here and there. Things like opening up and typing on the keybaord instantly would create this minute lag in the interface. I am very picky when it comes to that so I noticed straight away the Pixel is just fast, it doesn't stutter or lag like the note 7 did. Also small things like the speaker is FAR better than the Note 7, it's louder and fully than the 6p even. I hate edge screens too, I couldn't stand the note 7 in that regard, felt uncomfortable to hold compared to the pixel. I'm just so happy that I got a phone that just works ALL THE TIME. That's why I paid the extra $100 over the note 7 for the pixel. And I'm also betting on Google assistant (AI) becoming FAR more integrated and more powerful. All other phones will be missing out I think. Hardware can only go so far, software on the other hand....
Man who needs an SD card now?? I can finally video tape everything in 4k and not worry about memory or ever loosing the footage because it'll always be on the cloud! I legit video tape everything I can now!

I agree on the speed, the note did stutter on me from time to time any this phone doesn't at all really (although I have had a few force closes, possibly the apps fault). The assistant has promise but let's be honest, it's no better than Google now at the moment and by the time it is better, it'll be available on every android phone.
The phone itself to me is just last year's Cadillac with this year's Mercedes price tag.

A lot of people do. Really why drain your battery to access files on line rather than an sd card using less battery power and files on your sd card are a lot safer than the hackable cloud. And there is the extra data you use to access files on line. Sd cards use absolutely no data to access your files and do not eat up battery power so.
1. Sd card files safer than cloud.
2. Sd card uses no data to access your files, so does not eat up your data plan = saves you $$$$
3. Sd card files use less battery power than accessing files on the cloud.
I get that, I'm blessed with unlimited with Verizon but I always only upload to cloud while charging. If anyone is interested in true unlimited data with Verizon, I have an extra line available. I'll only charge 80 a month

That's the great thing about Android! Choice. Different strokes for different folks. There will be a phone out there that suits you. Find it and embrace it! ?

Well hard to say, as it has cpu that is newer than last years phone, also has better cameras than phones from last year, and software you can't compare to those phones either. And when compares to phones this year, it's kinda the same. I agree it is overpriced, but they are doing it because they can. If you want the best android experience available, there is only one phone. If you don't want to pay that much then there are great alternatives.
Waterproof - Owned S7 and Note, never seemed to EVER need it unless I was showing someone
Wireless charging - have a stand and still use the cable 90% of the time since it's faster
SD Card - I could see this one as a big point, but most people I know never fill up their phones and the ones who do could easily clear up half of it and improve performance by deleting unused apps and cleaning up the gallery, plus with 120 gigs + unlimited cloud I'm goooood
Gimmicks have made people wanting stuff they use maybe once every 4 months. "I can't have it therefore I need it"
IMO Software performance / day to day use > everything else .
Note 7 is a beast phone but I could honestly say at least once a day I get caught in huge lag spikes when trying open snapchat for a quick photo or even the camera app.
Sacrificing gimmicks for day to day use is worth it 100%

Not that I'm back to plugging in I do miss fast wireless. Again the assistant is cool, the camera is really decent. anyway.. to each his own. On edit.. thanks for the SUI heads up.. I like it. However,, that mini number in the battery is virtually unreadable.

I gave you what you want, sorry. Make the whole display bigger, maybe that will work. Or just open the shade if you need a specific percentage.
