Here's a guide for the S3, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840420
The S3's modded version works on the S2 found at the above link, but it's an older version for 4.1.1 and our S2 messaging app for 4.1.2 has a few extra features that are missing in the version on that page. One feature that I noticed missing that I use is the timed delay message.
So could anyone help me in modding the 4.1.2 messaging app to have the enable/disable screen on sms/mms for me?
This is especially needed when using dynamicnotifications.

Try this out.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2287907
Gives you a toggle in the messaging settings to disable the auto screen on.

Did you try to freeze it with Titanium backup ? But i dont understand why you want to disable it
Is it because....
.....you have installed another messaging app and you're getting multiple notifications?
Thanks for the reply. Titanium Backup cannot freeze it.
I want to disable it as I'm using a replacement app and whenever I receive a SMS I get it twice, once in both apps. The fix is to disable the stock message app, but I can't see how to do it

Hmm i am not sure about this app ... but you can disable notifications in the stock messaging app: open stock messenger --> settings --> notifications and there you can disable everything
Thanks again for the reply, but the notification isn't the problem. I get the message twice, in the both apps. So in both stock and the ICS Messaging I get the message twice.
I tried turning off notifications and it didn't help (worth a try though )

Oh, now i understand No, its not possible ... all the message apps are working on the base of the stock (i think), thats why you cant disable it.
You could try to set a wrong Service center number in the original app, and the right SCN in the one you will use give it a try and report back
There seems to be no way to set the SCN in the ICS app, so no go on that one. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll just have to go back to stock, no biggie

To be honest, i dont even know whats the difference between that two apps, the stock one looks great to ... the only thing why i use GoSMS is that you can block messages and set a private box, and theres no message/call blocker that can satisfy my needs for now ... i like the stock one more, but what can i do
You can't disable the sense message app but you can turn the notifications off if you go to SMS - settings - messages
i had the exact same problem, i just disabled notifications from the message apps settings and now i'm only getting one notification from ICS messenger
very happy !!
Yo! I've been using SMS Popup for some time now and just realized that the led blinking rate and different colors have been working flawlessly ever since I updated my modem/baseband to UVLI3 with Ktoonsez kernel on WildChld's v70 rom. I know there is the Light Flow app, but I just find this a lot more simpler and more useful. Here's the play store link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.everythingandroid.smspopup&hl=en
Enjoy!
SICK!!! Thanks so much for posting this.
The notification (red circle that says 1) on the message icon stays even after I send the message through SMS Popup (yes I disabled notification on stock messenger). Does the notification stay for you guys?

Not sure if the colors work on stock. At least they didn't when i was running stock. To test the colors, I had to send myself test texts.
Ok so on stock you say these wont work at all eh? Ugh.. personally I hate how stock even handles LED anyways.. seems to always cut off. I just dont wanna change roms till official JB comes out and roms are based on it.

Anyone using stock rom with LED stuff working?
Seems like a cool app. Just downloaded it. Hope to give it a good run.
Oh its a very good app. Been here since Htc G1 days. Why Google never added it as an option. No clue. Just wish LED light would work on stock.
Noob here... and yes i did search for this...
Sprint has recentyl replaced my wifes phone from HTC Evo to Galaxy S2 due to some hardware issues. While the phone is nice and faster then evo, one thing is missing.
HTC Sense UI has the missed call notification preview / missed message notification preview option to display missed calls / SMS/MMS on the lock screen. Since this is missing on the stock galaxy rom, apps like notify or sms popup work pretty nice.
While I can disable the stock UI to display missed messages by going to phone - settings - and unchecking notification box, i cannot find anything that will disable it for the missed calls.
Missed calls have to be cleared twice now - in apps and in stock UI.
Anyone has any ideas how to get this resolved? I`m open to rooting the phone but cant do a custom ROM at this time.
Any input would be great....
On my device ( Evo 3D ) all i have to do is go to Privacy - and uncheck the boxes...

Root the phone and read some how to guides on removing that, or possibly install a custom Rom with those features. Remember this isn't sense based, Samsung is touchwiz and nobody has been successful porting over a sense Rom

I`ll root the phone tonight.
So i`m assuming that there will be a way to change the permissions to rw somewhere in root
That will work.... i`ll look over the guides
I highly doubt that Sense will make its appearance on Galaxy 2... just saying
Stock jelly bean roms give you a notification on your lock screen.
Messages or missed calls.

Does stock jellybean have option for message / missed.call preview on lock screen ? On other hand I don't think it would matter since you can turn off notifications from within the privacy settings on the phone ans use 3d party app ...
Whenever my phone is sleeping (screen off) and I get a message or call and I'm not near the phone, when I swipe the screen to wake it, it displays a bubble icon with either a message symbol or a phone symbol, letting me know that I had a missed call or message. You then swipe the bubble and it takes you to the phone log or messages.
I'm on rooted /stock jb fk23.

I recently updated my gs3 to 4.1.2. and from what i understand there is suppose to be a notification panel edit feature, but i can't find it. I am on the t-mobile network. Has anyone else notice this? All the videos on youtube show this feature for the 4.1.2 update. All other features are working fine, like multi window, page buddy, and side bar icons.

There is an app in the app drawer called quickpanel settings, with that app you can change
which toggles are displayed first and which toggles you don't want to use or display at all.

I can't see those apps. I also notice that a lot of US customers have this issue for the recent update to 4.1.2.
Hi there,
My phone has lost multiwindow ability.
I've got the multiwindow app drawer showing, but no ability to multi-window apps.
I've a rooted phone, running stock TW, Nova Prime Launcher.
NOW THEN... I don't know if this happened as a result of the 4.1.2 'stability' update about a week ago, or by installing 'Samsung Mulitwindow Manager Pro' by BJB, 'cos I installed them both about the same time.
Samsung MultiWindow Manager runs a treat on my Note 10.1 which is rooted and with Nova Launcher.
I've uninstalled Sam MW Manager (removing the FlashBar patch as well) and still no joy with being able to get MultiWindow going.
Anyone any thoughts on this?
TIA.

It depends on the type of ROM you are using. Try to install an add-on such as Simplistic V3.5.1. I believe this will solve your problem for now.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm using Stock ROM. Multiwindows should certainly work with stock... There must be some reason it's not.
Has anyone else installed BOTH the Samsung 4.1.2 update from last week AND BJC's Samsung MW Manager and lost multiwindow use?
(As I put in my OP, I still have the Multiwindow drawer showing)
TIA

MW is enabled - the multiwindow drawer shows, I can show it and dismiss it (backspace press) but the apps themselves show no multiwindow abilities - they are stuck on full screen.
**** SOLVED ****
Reset and now working ...
but
Thanks for all who pitched in with their thoughts
