HELP! Translate Modern (Metro) Apps - Windows RT General

Hi guys,
I brought an used Surface via Internet. I updated it to W8.1 in english before official release via leak. Then I transleted it in Italian by LP but Metro Apps remained in English (Desktop etc are in Italian). How can I translate metro apps to in Italian?

Open your system control. Navigate to something like "Systemcontrol\Time, Language and Region\Language" ("Systemsteuerung\Zeit, Sprache und Region\Sprache" in German). No select the language who want to use primarily. Then click on the button "Up" ("Nach oben" in German) till it's the first element in the list. Now the metro apps should be in the desired language. If there are any problems try to restart your pc after changing the settings.
Hope it helps.

[REQ] Russian T9 and cyrillic PhonePad keyboard

Hello !
I just bought a HTC Touch HD. I often need to write in russian. I generally use the built-in Phonepad keyboard and T9 for french and english. Spanish, german and italian are aslo available. How can i add russian language there ? I would need T9 and also cyrillic letters on the phonepad instead of latin letters.
Is it possible so far ?
Thanks for your advises
Here it is on narod.ru service:
rus_keyboard_TouchHD.zip
By the way there are keyboard, dialer and letter search stripe for contacts in russian in the archive. You can install all of it separately.
Does it add Russian T9?
does it have en/ru switch?
Thanks
SDK
BTW this installation requires the SDK rights. I did have it as cab. I'll post it as soon as I find it ...
[upd] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437307&highlight=sdkcerts
BUT it does not help.
no permissions to install...
any ideas?
Cheers
Yes, you can change keyboard layout.
Also, you don`t need those SDK rights to install it -100%. You need to kill some process in memory to install it successfully - SIPGT_app.exe. It works well for me.
Maybe this link will also help you.
Thanks, i will try this

Best software keyboard - the TouchPAL 4.0

Dear All,
Touch PAL has a beta version available the Touch PAL 4.0 (upgrade from 3.5), its just the best software keyboard i ever have used. Now my HD is almost perfect, such good that i even have doubts to buy the Touch PRO 2.
Thx for the heads up. I agree, no matter what other keyboard I try, just always go back to touchpal...bit of a learning curve to it but worth it as once learned its simply the best and fastest to use. Just love it!
Any link to the beta version? I recall I really liked this, but ditched it as it didn't have a landscape mode.
**EDIT** Sorry, here it is - http://www.cootek.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=854
I didnt know this software before this, post, but after try it, it is the best keyboard software by far
thanks
I have been using this since 3.5 and think it is the best ever, and now with v4.0, it simply blows everything away!
I prefer this over Fingerkeyboard2 and the HTC Touch Input.
I've started using it since it's FOC day v.1.0.. It has come quite a long way.
Like the new landscape layout (tho' I hardly use THD in that mode) and I can type as fast using the T+ layout as if I'm in portrait mode! Cool!
Now, waiting for them to load up other language pack, and hopefully add in some symbols on the T+ layout, instead of having two '.' and ','.

All languages wich already exists will also work for 4.0
You just have to modify one little thing..
Open ActiveSync and open the Device Browser and go to "My Windows Mobile based device.." then go to Program Files\TouchPal\Surfaces..
There you will see already installed languages.. now open up the directory off the language you want to have available in TouchPal 4 for example dutch.
In this directory you will see dutch.img and surface.data just simply rename the surface.data to dutch.data same as the name of the directory..
If you get the message can't modify jadajada.. then just chose another keyboard on you're device, and then it will work after the renaming you must restart you're device!!!
Happy Typing T+
For this version there are other language files?

hi
tried this for norwegian language, but did not work.
I see the language but I can not choose it.
I bought it for my kaiser and it was great. It's picked up some problems with the Touch HD implementation though. Odd fiddly bugs like the unreliable way it interacts with the HTC input selector, occasional reversion back to the WM6 keyboard and it's not brilliant with opera.
Hopefully they'll fix.
Jon
Sad to report that I lost v.4.0.. after trying to tweak the language file.. this may not be the cause, since others have not issue with it.
Basically, v.4.0 doesn't load or load up a blank page (1/2 the height of the normal keyboard size) at the bottom which doesn't disappear untile I change the SIP. Uninstall, reinstall, uninstall and install v.3.0 and reinstall v.4.0 etc all no use.. sad...
sigh..
Edit:
Solved the problem with the help from the developer. Back up your language files in Surface, uninstall TouchPal, delete all the TouchPal folder in Program File and reinstall. Then Soft reset. Viola!
Anyone tried deleting the other language file before? Is it ok? How about the Chinese language file from v.3.5? Anyone tried it yet? I have it installed, but it's the fifth one on the list at the bottom, so can't access it unless I remove one of the other language.
You will have to remove other language files before you can select another.. just installed a new rom i'm trying some other language files right now.. I will report the status of the testing
**UPDATE**
"Have to be 3.5 language files.."

I did the above before, and I can't even get TouchPal to launch after deleting the language files that come with it.
if can't afford..using chinese version instead of cracked version..XD
The title should read "Best software keyboard - the TouchPAL 3.5"
IMO 4.0 is a step backwards, I don't use landscape keyboard so the only good thing about this update is nicer skin.
swedish dic SUCKS
This software is great and one of the best if not the best IMHO.
BUT no matter how good a software is for putting in text is. If the dic is bad there is really no use for it.
Different tempus for verbs is non existing and so cumbersome to input. the best would be if it could use the HTC dic like fingerkeyboard. Which really is the best dic a experience so far.
Other really bad thing is trying to get help on their forum to build a good Swedish dic has been non excisting. Atleast for me.
just my 2 cents

Nice keyboard indeed, and language version of djxfma works good.
Bu I miss the SMS name suggestion function of the HTC input and finger keyboard.
I will give it a try though.
Thanx for this application.
L.
It still can, just a bit more troublesome. After typing the name, press 'Space' and then delete the spacing and the name suggestion will work.

Adding extra languages to i747

Hello yesterday I got my i747. But there is no my native language in it. I sucesfully made other apps working in my language using some software from the market but settings, messages etc (all native apps) is still in English. So I just wanted to ask if it's possible to take fw from my region and replace system apps from there with my language. Thank you.

I have a Surface RT that is from Japan or China and need US language? How?

Ok. The title didn't give me near enough space to begin.
I have a Surface RT. Yes, it is real. However it was originally purchased in China or Japan and doesn't have an English pack on it. I don't know Chinese or Japanese. I downloaded Surface RT OS and put it on a USB drive from microsofts website and can boot up by holding volume down. There I can choose English and US however I can't figure out how to remove the current OS and install the one that is on the USB drive.
Any ideas?
I purchase Surface RT from Japan. But I understand Japanese for a bit so I can install English GUI.
In this case, if you have other device running Windows 8, you can find how to install other language on that device. The button is in the same place between language. Then you need to find where to click on the other English language device and just imitate the step with Surface RT.
You need to login to desktop screen, if you can. Click on current keyboard language on the taskbar and choose "Language preferences". Click on "Add a language", select English add click "Add" button.
After install language it will back to installed language list. Click "option" on new English and click on "Download and install language pack".
When English language pack installed. Go back to language list page and click on "Advanced settings" on the left, then change "Override for Windows display language" to the language you want.

Yes, he is right.
Draw mouse cursor to right side -> Setting -> Control panel -> Language -> Add language what you prefer -> See whether the language is available or not, then download it
It is not only about Windows RT, but all Windows....
Good to know. I'm getting a Surface 2 from Japan soon.

You're not totally out of luck, but...well, it's complicated.
You can install MoreLocale 2, a free and open source app which requires no rooting to force apps which have a Hebrew translation to use those. Essentially it's similar to the Language Enabler app which you've tried and which really didn't do the trick for you. Know why? Because the Nokia X's default ROM ships with only a handful of languages, which are:
Bahasa Indonesia (Malay)
Bahasa Melayu (Indonesian)
Čeština (Czech)
Deustch (German)
English
Español (Spanish)
Français (French)
Italiano (Italian)
Magyar (Hungarian)
Polski (Polish)
Português (Portuguese)
Română (Romanian)
Slovenčina (Slovak)
Tagalog
Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese)
Türkçe (Turkish)
Ελληνικά (Greek)
Беларуская (Belarusian)
Български (Bulgarian)
Қазақша (Kazahk)
Русский (Russian)
Українська (Ukrainian)
العربية (Arabic)
हिन्दी (Hindi)
ไทย (Thai)
中文 (Chinese)
Any and all other languages not listed above are not natively supported by the default ROM, but you can manually add the support...or more precisely, try to, since you have a rooted device. You'll need to install Xposed Framework and the resOverloader module for it. You'll also need a computer with:
The official USB drivers for the Nokia X
Android Software Development Kit (SDK) installed
Java Software Development Kit (SDK) installed
apktool
Using these tools you are able to extract the system apps' files and the necessary framework .apk file from your device into your computer. After you've decompiled each and every app, you'll need to create a temporary folder for your resOverloader work; I created mine in D:\ so the full path to the folder was D:\resOverloader\. Then you'll need to create a folder inside the resOverload folder and name it according to the app's package; say, if you wanted to translate the HERE Maps app, the package -- and thus the folder -- would be called com.here.app.maps, so the full path would be D:\resOverloader\com.here.app.maps and you'd need to copy the original strings.xml file here from the sources decompiled by apktool, and then manually translate it! Talk about a tedious process -- took me over a week to translate most of the system apps and whatnot.
Once you've translated whatever you want and need, push the resOverloader folder to your device via the "adb push" command into /storage/sdcard0/ (which would mean that the path to the HERE Maps app's translations would be /storage/sdcard0/resOverloader/com.here.app.maps/). Reboot, or if you want to avoid rebooting, go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps > choose the "All" apps view > find the respective app (say, Maps), tap on it > choose "Clear cache" and you may also need to choose "Clear data" (doing so deletes your data, so be careful and don't use this option if your device has valuable information which isn't backed up anywhere!)
...
By the time you've done all this, you'll notice that despite all your great and time-consuming efforts, some pesky apps won't display in the non-English language you've chosen, no matter what. The biggest offender is the Settings app (com.android.settings), but the Phone app also has some dialogs and whatnot in English, despite that I've translated them; Messaging and Contacts will require the caches to be purged in order to work correctly. Internet (built-in Xpress Browser app) and Camera display menus which contain multiple choices (such as Camera's "Storage" option) display the menu label in your chosen language, but the actual options in English -- this is likely a problem with my translation files, though, as opposed to the resOverloader module or the actual device firmware, I'd guess.
So what do you have at the end of the day, if you've followed my above "guide" patiently and correctly? A Nokia X device which sometimes speaks the desired language to you, and often also speaks English, whether you want it to or not. How to fix this, then? I have no idea, I'm afraid; if you know someone who does or you know yourself how to fix this, do speak up, please! It would be lovely to have the X support at least all the languages the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) does. And yes, I'm somewhat annoyed by the fact I spent over a week translating and fine-tuning these strings.xml files only to find out that they don't quite work "as advertised"...
As for enhancing the Nokia Keyboard to support a new language or multiple languages, I don't know anything about that either -- though it's something I'd also need to do for my native language, Finnish, which isn't supported by Nokia X natively -- but maybe someone else in this forum does?
Hi Jack. thank you very much for such a complete answer. I take from it that it is not a path I will follow. I thought there would be some original ROM I could use.
Anyway, regarding the keyboard I installed another app which offers the keyboards I need.
Cheers.
