The Non-official version of S3 will be porting on Nexus release so after the release of this version, which is not even out.
The official will arrive later

I am kinda new to this forums, and I was wondering if the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is getting the new 4.2 update?
Yes it will receive an official 4.2, and then even when it stops getting the updates officially it will continue to get them for years from the devs..

Do you know when?
Nobody knows when exactly, we know the new devices ship with it on the 13th, so it's speculation as to if it will be available on the 13th or (hopefully shortly) after. I would guess the gNex will see 4.2 at least unofficially by the end of November, BUT that is just my guess.

If you're asking about the official stock VZW/Google 4.2, it will probably be late December at the earliest, based upon past experience with this phone and other VZW Androids.
If you're asking about when custom 4.2 ROM's, such as CyanogenMod, CodeNameAndroid, or AKOP, based upon the 4.1 code release, a nightly based on 4.2 should be available in a day or two after the code is released into gerrit, so probably around 15 or 16 November.
The Galaxy Nexus is going to receive updates for a long time...
Dual core with 1GB RAM is more than enough to receive good updates, even if not from Google, but from devs
I remember when 512mb of ram and a 1Ghz processor was plenty.

We will all(XDA PPL) have it when the LG Nexus 4 is released. For sure someone(Dev) will post up the software and it will be ported and ready for use.
So we will get it(unofficially) on the 13th for sure.

If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^

I told you twice and for the third time "4.4.2" its even on the title of the thread if you don't kno then just say so
Which s3. Ie is it the international or the standard. What's the model code? Gt i9300?
Reading may help you a lot more than attitude. 4.4.2 is android version. He is asking what phone model.

Well, i have SCH-I535 i believe it to be the standard and the model code is GT i9300 and he was asking for the version not the model. Anyhow this has turned more into an argument than answers to my question. 2

Sch-i535 is a Verizon model and is most certainly not the i9300
When someone asks what VERSION of a device you have they most certainly do not mean what version of Android is running on it. Just common sense dude

I accidently posted on the development section, sorry sir
I only made this threat to spread the news about the new update
I do have some of the development skills to help and port the rom for our phones
Yet I won't be able to contribute until my phone is fixed
It's gonna be merged into all the major roms by the end of the weekend, if not earlier
