Hi Folks,
I am running a rooted S3 Rogers i747M with 4.1.2. I do NOT want to get an OTA update. How can I block it? I have already unchecked Auto Update, but hoping to make sure there are no mechanisms in place to over-ride that. Are there any apk files that I need to freeze?
if you are rooted it won't let you update anyway

Is this different from rooted i747 where 4.1.2 OTA'd over root, removing root in the process?

Hey Guys,
Just heard that the update is coming to canada on Wednesday. Will I need to unroot my note 2 for the update to work? Can I use CF method to re root again once the update has completed?

As long as you have stock recovery you are good. However after the update you may loose root, and your device status may say modified unless you factory reset.

Remove root.
Then install update.
Reapply root.
I'd recommend a custom rom. You get so much more. And it's been multi Window 4.1.2 since October.

So the 4.1.2 update is out. But I have root. This will remove it correct? and does anyone know if it has multi window?

Any idea if it includes the subsequent BMA updates that fixed the various issues introduced by 4.1.2 (ie: poor battery life)?

Bell 4.1.2 is here!
As of 2 am I got the update notification!
Damn! This update has turned on my haptic feedback....
Only in the stock internet it seems. Cant shut it off!
Any way to keep root while updating through odin?
Or can I root it again with odin cfroot.
I am just frightened by triangle away.
Any comments?

Got it. Copied the update.zip from cache (showed as 0.0 mb. But 230 mb after copying)
had to boot into recovery, install the update that way. And I used ota root keeper (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.otarootkeeper) to back up and restore root. Cheers.

I used to be on 4.1.2 but it was rooted and I wanted to unroot it but when I unrooted it the only option in kies was to go to 4.1.1 and I was ok because I was thinking that I will receive the ota after that but no.. There is no ota and I couldn't find the ota in SamMobile website. How can I "fix" that? My galaxy s3 is unlocked and I use it international.
Thanks!

I have an at&t s3 that is unlocked and am using it on t-mobile. I had the phone rooted with stock 4.1.2. Every time I tried to manually update it, it would pop up with update interrupted. I finally unrooted and went back to stock 4.1.1. The phone is still giving me the same message. Please help if you can.

Update may be failing because you are rooted. Rumor is you must be 100% stock unroofed for the update to complete.
As I said I unrooted and went back to stock 4.1.1!

Using it on TMobile means that the AT&T servers won't even know it's out there to be updated. Find an AT&T sim card and it should update.
So it is because I'm on a different carrier?

I'm just going by what other people have reported. There have been a few that said they had trouble updating with a TMO sim card in. I haven't updated mine because I'm running stable right now and I'm waiting to see if the developers here can work around this new bootloader. They're having more trouble that usual manipulating Samsung's crap. I've heard it's a good update (smooth running, etc) but it's nearly impossible to flash other stuff if you get it.
Still cant get it to update ota and kies says its the latest firmware.

If you are connected to Tmo's network even if it did recognize the phone as needing to be updated it would download the T999 ota which is most likely causing your problem when the installer checks the hardware for compatibility. A quick google search turned up THIS which is a (stock) recovery flashable .zip for the official UCUEMJB build.
