Can you use skyrocket aosp roms on the hercules? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hello everyone I was just wondering if you can use skyrocket aosp roms on the hercules. I know that you can use TW skyrocket roms but I never really heard anything about the aosp roms. So if anyone has tried it before and knows the answer please let me know. I've been having a very strange bug ever since 4.2.2 roms came out (strangely not on 4.2.1 though o.o) and I just wanted to check if still happens on skyrocket roms too.

Yes...just flash the skyrocket ROM with an aosp hercules kernel...maybe uber or something.

I have a few questions about roms?

So, I've been looking to find a stable ICS mod. I know cm has 9 out, and yes I am new to rooting/flashin, etc, I was just wondering if cm9 is available for the T989. I noticed its for all the other galaxy S2 phones. But when I search T989 or Hercules it comes up with all the other galaxy s2's. I don't want to start something, and Brick my phone.
If no CM9 yet, what are other good ICS roms if any? Or roms in general? for the t989.

There are no ICS ROMs for our phone yet. xboarder56 is working on it for the Skyrocket (same as our phone), but it's fairly alpha as it is.

yeah the other galaxy's..ies? run the exynos processor so they're almost interchangeable in terms or drivers and stuff.
ours and the skyrocket are the snapdragons.... so expect ours to be out... summer im thinking?
The real reason the others have ICS roms is because Samsung has leaked pretty consistently to them. Its a lot easier to make cake if all you have to do is frost it.
Roms?
Where can I get a compatible cm7 Rom for the t989? I tried flashing cm7 and it was giving me a verification error?

Rooting Gf's phone, need a STABLE ROM

Hello,
I have the VZW GS3 which has a million ROM's, sadly this doesn't seem to be the case here on the sprint phone.l
The most important thing is that everything works , thats it.
Are there any good stable ROM's out there without any built in themes?
Does anyone make TW ROM's? I havnt seen any on here
Lastly, what does LG8 mean?
The stock room is very stable imo. I have tried custom rooms on my evo in the past but have not felt the need here yet.
LG8 is the build number of the stock Rom that was the latest into a few weeks ago. The current release is LI3.

So your girlfriend has Sprint?
LG8 is the firmware version. This version is old. The latest official release is LI3. There are leaked firmware versions up to LIH now. This is Samsung's way to identify when the firmware versions were made. L=2012 I=September, 3=3rd. It goes up to 9 before it goes into letters to represent 10th day and higher.
As for Roms, there are quite a few tw roms available. Check out the android development section. There you will find both ice cream sandwich roms as well as the jelly bean leaks. I'm running jelly bomb domination jelly bean Rom. It's perfect!!!! Great battery life, no issues at all, and its fully themed.
If you want ICS I'd recommend team sonic free gs3 Rom.

Blazer rom jelly Bean V1.9 is the most stable and zero lag on bluetooth stream. update to LIH n u are good.

Most of the roms in the dev forum are touchwiz roms. Almost all of these are stable, even jellybomb (based of leaked jellybean rom) is stable. I've had 0 issues so far, and it feels faster. Sonic, blazer, and many others are stable as well. I like jellybomb though. Most of the bugs will be in the AOSP roms (or miui). These were built from the ground up without Samsungs work. They'll be in the original development mostly.
I've been running blazer for weeks now, on the ics 1.9 version currently and no issues what-so-ever.

This is the stock, rooted, LI3 ROM. No themes, most recent official ICS build, you're good to go.

Thanks guys!!
I appreciate you guys clearing it up for me. I have not been on XDA for a while and didn't see there are two separate Dev sections now. I was only looking at one of them.
I just have a question regarding Jelly Bean. I run the VZW version myself and we have some major data issues when we run AOSP JB, like data drops, not connecting despite showing full bars etc. Is this an issue at all on the Sprint version ? Are there any issues related to JB?

As long as you follow directions and flash the modem that they tell you to, it works perfectly

I thought the best TWiz ROM was Team Sonic FreeGS3 and ran that for the longest until i stumbled upon Blackbean ROM, which is a Jelly Bean ROM, and haven't gone back to TWiz ever since.
The TW JB LIH leak is very nice, very stable, and used by many as a daily driver.

If you want stable tw rom just use blazer its not themed at all and super super stable

Well, quite a few people have had data issues, mostly concerning the 3g/4g handoff, but I wouldn't say its MAJOR like you make it sound on VZW. I personally like TouchWiz Jellybean.

All the JB ROM's I've tried have caused a noticeable hit on battery life for me. I need my phone to last 10 hours reliably, and after every JB ROM I've tried, I was down below 20% after 10 hours, and that's not acceptable. What's your battery life on Blackbean like?
With FreeGS, I am usually around 60-70% after 10 hours, depending on usage.
Can anyone give me input on data quality on Blackbean and FreeS3 ROMs? I know its an odd question but my ROM's data isn't what it should be. I'm just wondering if this the case with most JB ROMs.

if you root your girlfriend's phone, be prepared to play constant IT guy when the slightest thing doesn't work perfectly. you will wind up managing two phones and it is not very fun when things go wrong...

I'll agree. I rooted a couple of Nook Colors at work and when the slightest thing went wrong I'd have to take it home and flash it or update it or something. I guess rooting is best kept to one's self.

Haha it is technically my ex-gf.
I am only doing her S3 because I did this for her Evo 4g and she didn't complain once.

[Q] Anyway To Install TouchWiz on AOSP or AOKP 4.1.2

I would like to know if there is any possible way to run TouchWiz on any 4.1.2 ROMs that are out. I searched with no success. I ran AOSP and AOKP and I must say I really do like some of the features like the pull down notification bar... I do like to use TouchWiz though, I wonder if I'm in the minority or the majority on using that launcher...
I would like to keep the Samsung Apps that come on the S III too... I know I'm not asking for much HAHA

Not saying it can't be done, but honestly it would defeat the purpose of aosp based roms. You have to pick a side, touchwiz or aosp. If you like touchwiz then just try some of the LJ7 based roms that aren't wizless. Free sgs3 is a good choice for tw jb.
Thats true but its been done. There was a mod made for the galaxy nexus that accomplished this but it wont work on jellybean. You could always multiboot. Got stock jb with no root and i dualboot aokp with it. Just throwin that out there.
Could always try the NOWIZAOSPMOD rom too. You almost cant believe that its touchwized based, dude is a genius.

Well i know ive made it work on the e4gt and s3 back on cm9 . Didn't work last time i tried it on the s3 with 4.1.2 aokp. Everything installs but tw launcher fc's
Thank you guy for the replies and a good point was made about TouchWiz being on an AOSP wouldn't make it an AOSP anymore! HA
My main goal is to have 4.1.2 on my phone with TouchWiz, as it stands now, I only see AOSP and AOKP with 4.1.2 and not any other ROMs like Sonic Teams FreeGS3
now this is what I'm talking about!

Most stable AOSP JB ROM?

What is the most stable AOSP JB ROM at the moment? My fiance just got an E4GT and she wants an AOSP Rom like I have on my GS3, but she needs something at least somewhat stable. What would you guys recommend? Thanks in advance!
Code name or paranoid Android are both good

Agree, it comes down to which you prefer. Try both and see what she likes

[ROM Request] King Kang ROM

My buddy has an HTC One X and the other day he was showing me the King Kang ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959099). It appears to be an AOKP based ROM with the Paranoid Settings added so you can tweak each apps layout/dpi. I've tried some of the hybrid ROMs from the dev section but they all appear to be CM10 based and I just can't get used to them. After a couple of days, I usually end up flashing back to Task's AOKP ROM.
So I was wondering if there are any kind devs out there that may be able to port this ROM over for the AT&T Galaxy S3? I found a build for the Verizon S3 over here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010450...if that helps at all.
Thanks!
Your best bet is to just stick with one of the PACman ROMs. FYI, AOKP is based off of CM10 but has their mods and tweaks on top.

If you are looking for a Paranoid AOKP ROM, you could try ParanoidKangdroid It's based on AOKP and CM10. This might be better than the normal ParanoidAndroid ROM to suit your needs. I have never tried it personally however so I can't comment too much on it. Just thought it was worth mentioning for you. =)
