So my friend ran into my house and gave me his note 2, here's the situation. An unrooted Note 2 was connected to Odin root package, and the wrong file was entered in the PDA slot (an md5 sum notepad file or something like that). Anyways the error message is coming up says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again". I can hold down volume down and power and get into recovery still. Should I just connect odin and throw a file into the PDA slot and try to unroot it, if it even is rooted yet. Im not familiar with the Note 2 specifically since I don't actually own one, but thats the method I would have followed with my S2 which is effectively identical. What file should I download to throw in the PDA slot, a link would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Yeah I love QBKing I'm watching it right now aha. In this link http://rwilco12.com/downloads.php?d...-L900)/Stock ROMs/MA7/Nodata Restore/Unrooted which file do I put in Odin, the .exe file or the tar.md5
I'd go tar. Exe is an executable file so you probably won't need Odin as it comes with it I believe.

The download from that website keeps failing halfway through anyone wanna provide a link to another stock md5 tar?
Okay the phone can access recovery and CWM but won't boot now. How do I flash a ROM without being able to transfer onto the phone's SD card. There's a way to do this via Odin right?

Alright I'm trying to get my sisters phone working right with a new custom ROM and root and all but...Odin is killin me...I've downloaded it from two different sources and every time it opens it says something like Odin.int[][][][] then I click ok and it crashes every time. The Odin I have downloaded is V1.85 and I have an older Odin for my vibrant that works (v1 of odin3), can I use that? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

After u download odin click on download extract odin then start odin. Shouldnt crash. The whole odin package needs to be extracted to work. Learned that the hard way back then

Its 1.85 but it worked for me. If the problem persists, I would recommend you try on a different computer

I'm a modem flashaholic but am getting ready to switch to a Kernel without CWM. I've got all my modems in Zips and never have any problem flashing them.
In preparation for my switch I downloaded all the E4GT modems in TAR files. I then bought Mobile Odin. I ran a test flash to make sure I had it working correctly. Here's the steps I took (just in case it matters):
1) Load Mobile Odin.
2) Select Open File
3) Navigate to proper TAR file and select it (I've tried it from internal and SD Card, both load into the Modem slot on Mobile Odin correctly).
4) Select Flash firmware.
5) After selecting Flash firmware I acknowledge the "this is dangerous" message and select verify for the the MD5 option.
6) Phone restarts, I see the Mobile Odin splash screen.
After the restart I go to system settings and look at the Baseband/Modem and it still displays the last modem I flashed through CWM.
Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Ah! It all makes more sense! I swear I tried everything I could! It's nice to know I'm not as dumb as I was worried I was.
Thanks!
Chainfire has a thread on here somewhere with mobile Odin lite there may be something I'm the thread about it but I know he had posted he knows about it...

ive used odin a many time to revert to stock. Is there a preferred way or possible way to achieve the same results using the mobile Odin app?

You can take the same file you were using in ODIN and flash it in mobile odin, just the modem won't flash because mobile odin doesn't flash modems on cdma.
and upgrading to leaked ota? same or is it in one click .exe form? I'm usually on top of things like this but i had read somewhere yesterday someone tried to quote u as saying it was a no go on that. Something to do with a partition. i read all ur post i could find and never came across anything like that.

Mobile ODIN can read the OneClick.exe files. The ODIN OneClick threads have instructions. Basically the OneClick.exe files are compressed as a 7zip self-extractor. So the file you download is -oc-sfx.exe. Either double-click on the file in windows to extract or use ZArchiver on Android. Once you unpack the file you'll have the OneClick.exe file. Use "Open File" in Mobile ODIN to load the file up and it will flash everything except the modem (mobile odin doesn't flash modems on CDMA)
BTW to use Mobile ODIN, you need to have root. I just read your title again, and I wasn't sure if you were saying you don't currently have root or you don't want root. All the oneclicks after ek02 are pre-rooted because they plugged the direct root exploit.
once again thanks hub! u are very knowledgeable and always willing to help on the forums. its people like u that keep most of us here. thanks man!

Is there any way to unroot this phone or flash the stock rom, rooted or unrooted, without a computer. The mini usb does not function so anything involving a computer is not an option. I just bought this phone and it came rooted but I need to activate it on my account and the ## codes aren't working

2nd file. Flash with Mobile Odin
Flash the modem in cwm first. Mobile odin wont flash them.

Flashing the modem isn't necessary as the .tar contains the rom, kernel, and modem.

Using Mobile Odin will not flash the modem, that is why patrao said to flash the modem with CWM then use Mobile Odin to flash the tar.

Ah, that's what he meant. I was confused by his post.

Sorry but I haven't had an android phone in a while so I'm a little confused. There are two files when I click on the link do I flash just the tar file or both the exe and tar file? Also where do I find the modem file? Thanks for any replies I have managed to restore the phone to stock and get it working and I am still rooted as well
If you are going to use mobile odin then use the tar. The exe is for your computer. Thr modems can be found in rwilcos website just got to look.

I found the fast way to download the file you speak of is use Kies to do a firmware update and initialization. This will download the file you want for you from Samsung which has much faster servers. On my super ****ty DSL internet, I got a 2.4GB file in like 30 mins
READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE YOU START
Download and install Kies
http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP#none
With phone disconnected, open Kies, goto Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialization
Type in your model name IN CAPS i.e. "SGH-M919"
Then type in your phones S/N
Check the box that you agree and have read the info,
then start up your phone in download mode and connect it
Start the upgrade.
VERY IMPORTANT
Kies will download the file to a temp location on your hard drive then it will DELETE it once the upgrade is done so you have a small window of time to get the file from the temp location.
I find the easiest way to figure out where Kies is downloading the file is to use Resource Monitor (system app on win7) and check disk activity. You should see a file the has a much larger read and write rate than any of the other files.
Once Kies is done downloading the file and starts the actual upgrade, you have about 2 to 3 minutes the grab the tar.md5 file (its like 2.22 GB)
Kies will only work if you're stock and never rooted. If you did any kind of flashing on phone you will have to use Odin.
