Just depends on how much you want to spend. I have a pair of Sol Republic Tracks HDs that I've fallen in love with, and they're roughly half the cost of comparable Beats products. The earbuds (that I haven't had the chance to try) are roughly $40.
I have the JVC XX HA-FR201 ear buds with mic and they are perfect. So cheap and yet produces a lot of bass. I got them last year for $10. Still working up to now.
If you're looking for bluetooth you can't go wrong with the BluebudsX. They are a bit pricey but sound absolutely fantastic. Lightweight, battery lasts a good while, and best of all...no darned wires. The BluebudsX paired with the Viper4android sound mod=eargasms.

Sounds about right. Cheapest I've personally seen them go for is $20/pair. But they do have extremely good clarity and bass output. Probably the best bang for the buck in the business.
+1 for the JVC mentioned above I have the none mic version, still awesome sound
Any advice about not "in-ear" headphone (just earbuds with mic)?
Anyone got suggestions for headphones under $20 for Canada? I've spent the last 2 days looking online and can't really find anything good.

Please read my guide below on the matter when you get a chance.
The type of earphones/headphones you should buy depends largely on your musical preference, budget, etc. The earphones I love every day may sound rubbish if you listen to a lot of instrumental. Likewise, my musical preferences wouldn't sound good on headphones without significant bass presence.
Don't buy Bose, Beats, Skull Candy or any celebrity endorsed headphones. You can get far better quality at half the price.
Also, please answer the following-
Budget:
Music preference (genres?):
On-ear or in-ear:

Reddit (r/headphones) loves these

Don't shoot me for the suggestion...
http://www.jaybirdgear.com/bluebuds-x-bluetooth-headphones/
I love these.
The sound...is good. Almost great. If you're going to shell out $170 though, you can get better SOUNDING headphones.
But I got these probably a year ago...maybe a bit more. Still love 'em.
Great build quality. I actually sent them through a washer (derp) and after drying for about a week...tried to power them back on and they've had no issues...and this was a few months ago.
Why these?
Sound is good. If you've heard/owned Klipsch S4s...these are on par with those (a cheaper bud, but great sound for the price on those as well) but with much better lows without drowning out the mids and highs.
Do you use your headphones at work/working out?
Perfect. I love these, mainly, for this reason. I listen to 'em at work or while riding my bike...
And that annoying snag and slight pulling that always seems to eventually wiggle one or both buds out after a while is obviously gone with them strapped around your head. And these things STICK into your ears. They're also really comfortable (for me). I actually got my sister a pair for Christmas last year...and the "wings" or whatever they're called bothered her ears after a while...so she just wears them without and claims no issues. Personally I tried it and they tend to fall slightly out of place for me.
And another huge bonus...
The Voice-Dial Volume-up Track-Skip (longpress) functions all work without issue.

I'm speaking about In-Ear Hearphones (with microphone), no bluethooth!
Music preference? I like to listen many italian songs.. like Max Pezzali, Laura Pausini, Tiziano Ferro, Modà, Marco Masini !
For that price just get some skullcandies, not bad for the price
If you gunna spend more don't get shures. Build quality sucks!

Any cheaper ? ~ $30 ...
I'm searching something with (thanks jRi0T68 for the template)
1: Budget = max 50 $/€
2: Genres/Musical preference = Pop/Rock
3: Type of headphone = earbuds (not in ear) <--- very important
4: Functionality = with mic
5: The audio rig as whole = (doesn't matter)
6: Source material = (doesn't matter)
7: Build Quality = (doesn't matter)
Now I I'm thinking to buy Apple Earpods.
I wasted loads on all sorts of head phones. Finally went for some bluebuds x. Best set I ever bought.

yes. i do that all the time as well as use my truck speakers with the tape adapter as my speakerphone.
I use a pair of hd sound buds I got from 5 below for, you guessed it $5. They are the best I have seen. The sound is real good and if they break I just go get another pair. They have a mic for calls too. Everyone I call says I sound real good through this headset. Cant beat $5 for a good set of buds w/ a mic. I have paid a lot more for sets that were not as good. I keep a spare set around b/c I am hard on headsets.
I use audio technica's clip on earphones, really comfortable and portable. The cable is lined with cloth, so it is a lot more sturdy than plastic or rubber, and it is near impossible to get it to tangle up, even after being tossed around in a wadded-up mess for a few days. Best headphones I have ever bought. They are a little on the expensive side, and they don't have a mic, but I listen to a lot of music, and I definitely fee like I got my money out of them.

Might wanna check out Amazon's selection of Sennheiser earbuds right now. I've always trusted in Sennheiser for great quality at a great price.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...nheiser+earbuds&rh=i:aps,k:sennheiser+earbuds
These ones:
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-MK...YMF4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323525004&sr=8-1
are marked down from 80 to 23! And some of the reviews say 70 was a great price for the quality. The next model up retails for 120 and is on sale for 30.
Or, go to Target and get a pair of Skull Candy ink'd earbuds. They are 17 or so, and sound comparable to much more expensive sets. Was really impressed by them for paying under 20. And the noise cancellation is great, too.
I just bought a pair of sony sweet little buds:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-EX33LP-BLU-Style-Headphones/dp/B001RB24KK
They were 20 or so, and the reviews on Amazon are pretty positive, but I don't think they sound as good as the Skull Candies at all. So they are going back to the store
I find that the urbanears bags works well with a mic for 30, or the klipsch s4a sound pretty amazing for 100. the klipsch app works pretty well for controlling headphones with one button.

Koss Porta Pro's. Sound great, nice sound balance, and pretty darn affordable. They have a lifetime warranty, and I believe I saw a version with a built-in mic.
I find the klipsch s4 to be reasonably balanced, but the bass is better tuned. they are squeezing a lot out of the high end.
I think that was a very complicated way to say "i agree."

What's Bluetooth phone for great quality at a great price...? Incredible 2.
I use the Skullcandy Titan model. For only $40 they're amazing. I see no reason to go above and beyond and pay $99 or $150 for Beats when these are awesome and compare to the same quality output. They're totally worth the 40 bucks.
For daily music enjoyment riding mass transit (buses/subways or trains) - a pair of in-ear, noise-cancelling headphone/mic is what I carry/use (picked up mine from a Brookstone sale 2 years ago, iphone compatible) and it is great.
The key is to install/enable/use DSP Manager on the ROM if not stock - I can fine tune the music/video settings as needed for various boost & equalization.
For the occassional oversea/long distance air travel, I take the full-sized Sony NC headset with the cups - I just don't feel the need to spend hundreds to buy into the Bose brand.
YMMV, of course.
I use the Beats by Dr Dre ear buds. They are around $75, but the difference between these and a $5 pair is I wont have to buy a new pair next week. These baby's last.

I like my cheap headphones. The sound is as good as I need it to be, they have lasted for two years now, and if I do lose them or break them I can replace them without breaking the bank. I use them on my motorcycle, in the sauna, while I work out, work in the yard, etc. I don't know that I would be comfortable abusing an expensive pair like I do these.
For me they are just like sunglasses, the cheaper they are the more I like them and the longer they last and the more expensive ones get lost, stolen, or broken right away. It's like they have an odd niche in the market for being backwards or contrary to what one would think.

I'm looking for a good pair of earbuds and speakers for my android HTC Amaze 4g. For the earbuds, I'd like something that's comfortable, has great sound, and preferably has music controls + not so easy to tangle wire. I'd like to keep it under $100 for these.
For the speakers, I'm looking for something that has great quality sound and is portable (and uses bluetooth). I don't need the loudest speakers around, but I want something that sounds good. I also want something that looks good/stylish. I'd like to get something around the $150 range or below. I don't really want to spend more than $150 on this.
I've checked out a few things, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. If you know of any products that sound like a match for what I'm looking for (earbuds or bluetooth speakers or both), please let me know.
Thanks!
I would go for earbuds Sennheiser CX 300, great sound for good price
X-mini II capsule for speakers, most deffo. It is loud enough for indoor/outdoor use
Best Buy had Etymotic hf'3 on clearance for 78.99 the last few weeks. These are earbuds and they usually retail for $180 to $200 (just noticed Amazon has them for about $130). One caveat, they are meant to go pretty far in the ear canal to make a proper "seal". The hf3's do have an inline mic and music control worked for me on rezound, so not sure about the amaze.
I've got a pair of Shure SE215s and they're fantastic. They wrap around the ear, come with foam and silicon tips, and have a replaceable cable. They're around $100 though, so you'd be pushing your budget.
Along with being able to replace it the cable, they sell a single(generic) and triple(iOS) button inline control cable to go with them.
The only off-putting thing might be their sound signature. It's definitely grown on me but being used to a neutral sound from my HD25-1 IIs their sound was rather different from my norm.
On a cheaper note, you could also get a pair of Klipsch Image S4s. They're rather popular and are quite light, and have three versions: standard, iOS inline, and Android inline. Something that I personally didn't care for was the bloated bass and thin cord on them. The Shure buds definitely have a thicker, more quality cable.
Of course, 'erryone'll recomend the Sennheiser CX 300s. They're on par in terms of popularity and price with the Image S4s, however I haven't tried 'em myself so I can't comment on them really.

I can definitely confirm that, they are hands down the best in-Ears for around 100$ if you are searching for something reliable.
You wear them a bit the different than most in-Ears, since they are designed as on-stage monitors.
But when you get used to them, you never want to miss them.
You should also know that they are a bit bass heavy and not perfectly neutral, but you can compensate a lot with the equalizer, since they react to an equalizer better than normal in-Ears.

But they are so fragile, you would expect them to be better manufactured judging by the price.

There are there major issues:
1. The cables are crap, they break so easily at the 3.5mm jack.
You can buy a replacement, since they say its not included in their warranty, which run around 40$ and also won't last long.
Check out their facebook page or some reviews and you will see that a lot of people have this problem.
2. On some models the connector within the actual in-Ears becomes lose, which is also isn't included in the warranty, since they say it is caused by excessive stress.
However this also can happen while just using them carefully, which is rather annoying for the price you pay.
3. Some people claim that the outer cover fell after a while and they had to glue it back onto. I can't confirm on that but it seems possible to me.
Sounds really good for that price.... not..
they make this speaker that sticks to any hallow item such as a box. The bigger it is, the louder the sound gets.

That is funny, because I have a good experience with them. After my previous UE failed (after three years!), I upgraded to these superfi's, and have those for half a year already, putting them in my pockets wrapped around my iPod everywhere i go. They sound amazing, way better then those shures.
If you decide to go for the etymotics, it is important to know that the bass will be a lot less then from more lively in ears like these superfi's, or the cx-300's.
Personally I think that they are good for the price. Because you can, in my country, order them online for €200 while they sell in retail for €400. I mean the only competing products sound wise are a lot more expensive. Examples are the shires 530, and the ie80's, both of which exeed the €400 mark here.
I got some Bob Marley in ears I bought one day, really awesome, like 40 bucks I think its pretty reasonalble

Of course they sound better than the single driven SE215's, however the UE's are still twice as expensive as the Shure's and he asked for earbuds that coast less than 100.
It does not change my recomendations, for less than 30 go for the CX300's.
If you want to spend up to 100 the SE215's are the way to go.
From there on you should take a look at doubel/tripple driven in-ears like the UE's triple.fi 10 / SE425 / SE535 / Um3x / IE 80 / whatever.
However in this region you should seriously consider the limitation of your phone's DAC and amplifier circuit.

Sorry that will not help in any case to find some good Inears
Don't get me wrong your advice is just crap. Especially Bose sells overpriced models which are not worth it.
If you can catch up an Ultimate Ears Triple fi 10 I would recommend that. They are sometimes around 120Dollars at eBay or Amazon. The Beats are around 150 and look better, but the sound of Triple fi is just outstanding for that price. The other upside, I haven't seen any fake of them. UE announced a new replacement for them so try to get them. (Review: http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/ultimate-ears-triple-fi/4505-7877_7-32492509.html)
But as someone wrote before if you just need some Inears, the S4i from Klipsch is also no bad choice. The difference to the UE's is huge. But everyone has to decide how much sound and price matters. The S4i has a lot of bass, but is not as clear and sharp sounding.
Best regards from India,
Rotesmofa

yepp, be aware they are not as hip as the beats. They are big, but the sound is for me better than any 300 to 400 Dollar In Ear.
I have à pair of Shure SE215 and think they're great. They cost around 100 dollars, but I see them on sale allot (I bought them for 50 bucks).
It's not the absolute best, but reasonably priced and great for use on the go.
PS. the Note does not have great audio output anyways, so buying top quality JUST for the Note seems pointless to me.

Beats? Please no. Go over to head-fi.org and ask your question there. Tell them you're about to buy into the beats hype but decided to go do the sensible thing by asking people around you first. There's a lot more to the world of headphones than what gets advertised. And with that, go listen to a pair of beats (doesn't matter what kind, all of them sound muddy anyway) THEN listen to, say, a Beyerdynamic DT1350 (which is in roughly the same price bracket), then report back.

I recommend you read this article first.
First, Beats is just an over priced brand with so-so sound characteristics.
If you are really looking for best sound you should always pair your phone with a DAC & External Amplifier (DAC only if the phone is compatible, at this moment iphone and samsing galaxy S3; I am waiting for Note 2 to show up so I can test if it works with my FiiO E17)
If you listen OUTSIDE / OFFICE look for CLOSED headphones. If you listen in your HOME look for OPEN headphones.
Most of top end headphones require an amplifier. Check FiiO (they are very good and a good bang for your money)
If you just want a great pair of cans with GREAT sound and very good value look for Audio Technica ATH-M50 ($159) video here
WAY WAY BETTER THAN Beats. And cheaper.
For In Ear Monitors I prefer the Westone 4R. The sound is simply amazing without the need for an amplifier.
Hope it helped. Best

post here your opinions and experiences about the best earphones on the market
I dunno, it kind of depends on best for what. Cans vs buds, what kind of sound you personally like, what price-range we're talking about, et cetera.
Headphones can go upward of $1000 - this is a situation where most people don't want THE BEST, but the best their budget can afford - but there are many options and in plenty of things it's a matter of taste.

i have the 8.A, best experience of all IEM so far
I used to use some Ultimate Ears Triple.Fi 10 Pro with a silver cable, they were awesome too, and you can grab them new from ebay for about 170$ (with crappy standard cable, but that should be enough for most ppl)
For me, the best value are the AKG K-315 earphones... at least for listening to music in more or less quiet places, because if it is very noisy In-Ear-Phones are better. (I have to say I bought them for €15, they seem to be cheaper here in Europe than in the US)
I just love them, they sound natural, no over-amplification of anything, no need to play around with Equalizers and stuff, plus they are very comfortable to wear, the left earbud has a little bump so I don't need to look at them to know which one is the left/right... and I don't have to reach to the mp3-Player/Phone to change the volume, as they have a little slider on the cord.
But they are just phones, so no headset function, but as I listen to my music on my dedicated mp3 Player most of the time, that's not an issue for me.
Sorry if this sounded like an advertisment, but they are just that good IMHO.
i've never had a problem with skull candy
I got the Plantronics BackBeat GO (BT), good build lightweigt. but its a little to quiet... overall good earbuds
for me personally its my sennheiser mx370 as i dont like in ears and they hold up really well,
all my previous earphones did get busted in 1 or 2 years but they live since 4 years
i use Creative EP 630 .
i dont like inEars so much, but i need some inEars for my GalaxyAce.
buy it from amazon for 11€ some years ago, and they're really nice and the price is good too.:good:

i hope it was a joke, because beats is a piece of shi*
Sennheiser , Skullcandy and beats.
Sony..
I have a pair of Sony MDR-NC7 headphones that I have beat the hell out of. I'm one to accidentally pull the cord quite aggressively and there is no retraction of the insulation and very minimal ware. I accually ended up sitting on them and snapping the headband so I decided to give melting the pastic with a touch a try and it worked and this happened about 2 or so years ago so I would definitely recommend this brand for reliability.
DON'T buy that WESC-****!
I bought them for my sister for her birthday. after 6 months it broke....
But in my opinion the 50€-WESC had the same sound quality like the Beats Mixr, which is far more expensive.
I use Beats by Dr.Dre also heard this Skullcandy which is availble at virgin megastores in my country

I was always a big fan if KOSS. I am using Sporta Pro. I think they are good buy for portable size and quality.
how about the Apple ones ? I had them for a while but haven't been really satisfied from the quality. I'm thinking about ~$25-40 price range. with mic.

HAHAHAHA!! Truth. I love skullcandy headphones! Lifetime warranty is amazing! It doesn't even matter if you broke them or they were defective, you just send them in and they send you new ones! FMJs are my favourite nice bass that isn't over-powering!
I use cheap skullcandy's.

yeah, the KOSS are really good for that price!
I use some hideously orange ones I found at Kmart. They're crap, just like Beats by Dre, but at least they are cost appropriate.

Oh my God I can't agree with you more! I wasn't even paying attention to this subforum and I decided to buy Sennheiser CX 175 which is fairly cheap, reasons I went for this is I wanted to get rid of original headset that came with One X and wanted something with at least a "bit" better sound.. another reason being I was rather short on cash and I instisted on Sennheiser because I already have Sennheiser HD 380 pro which I use for post production (so really high end) so I felt safe with the brand. I bought the CX 175 in-ear headphones and man, IF I HAD THE MONEY I SWEAR I WOULD PAY AT LEAST TWO TIMES THEIR PRICE. These little nasties are quite comparable to the professional HD 380 pro, with slightly louder bass (but not as defined as HD 380 pro) which some consumers will find as a plus, some as a minus, depending on what you listen to.. I listen to electro house, dubstep and some trance so a greater bass really does the job for me... and highs are good and loud too, although they also lack a little bit of definition when compared to its brother for professional uses.. but really, stereo image for example is PERFECT.. put on a song with a lot of acoustic guitar and you'll hear the magic.
Also, the isolation is just perfect as well, you really won't be able to hear a whole lot of outside with these headphones on, even without playing music.
For its price of 30-35 euros, it definitely outmatches most if not all of headphones in the same or even higher price range.
P.S. DininduDS, if you decide to stick with the original handset, I can send you mine absolutely free. Though considering you're in Shri Lanka I guess shipment needs to be paid or something?

Type in the google sennheiser cx300 best in ear headphones out there, for bout 30$, unfortunately they haven't got a mic. if you need headphones with mic, your choice widens up. i would recommend one of those:
Nocs NS400 or NS200. a-Jays one +, RHA MA450i, Sennheiser cx275s all arround 60$.
I myself went for sony mw600 together with sennheiser cx 300, will buy Nocs or RHA with next opportunity.
