Am I missing something or are there no kernals compatible with the Verizon version of this phone. I really want tap to wake but all I see are gsm variant kernals.

That is correct at this time there are no custom kernels for the Verizon HTC One, this is due to kernel source not being released yet.
I should note that the Vanir AOSP rom in the Originial Development section mentions that it has a custom kernel in the title "[ROM][4.3.1][Nightlies][CUSTOM KERNEL] VanirAOSP", you might want to check into that thread and see if you can get any specifics on the custom kernel they claim to have.

I have compiled a list of kernels that work on CM7 base. I used to have these in my signature but looks like this might be worthy of a thread considering the questions people keep asking on what kernels are compatible with the latest cm7 nightly etc etc and I don't see a similar thread.
NOTE: These kernels only work on roms that base on CM7 Nightly 123 and later ( CM7 nightly 123 and higher, Insanity 40 and higher, MIUI 1.9.30 and higher). Make sure you are on these before you try these kernels. I will keep this thread updated but if you see a newer version of any of these kernels posted in IRC, kernel thread or wherever, post it here and i will update this original post.

After flashing this, if you are looking for stock CM7 kernel, try the attached Cm7_stock_kernel.zip. I pulled this from nightly 143. Worked fine for me. I flashed neo first, then flashed this and got stock kernel back.
If you screwed up something and lost recovery, try the attached KernelCMW2.tar file. Flash it using odin/heimdall, pull battery and put back, enter cwm and flash a CM7 based rom.
If any of the kernel developers have an issue with this thread contact me by PM.
Thanks to the following kernel developers/maintainers

Zacharias Maladroit ( Neo Platypus)
Nikademus ( FuguMod)
CM7 team/pawitp ( current maintainer for stock CM7)
This pleases me ^^
would be great if you could provide some basic info about those kernels (features included) and/or link to their source. appreciated.

There are only 3 different kernels and you didn't even provide any info or comparison beyond the linux upstream version.
What a completely pointless thread.

the glitch links are dead, you can find them here.. http://androtransfer.com/tk-glitch/CM7-kernels/Glitch/i9000/VoodooColor/

thats the goal of this thread. There are also links to learn what each kernel offers. No point providing info on battery life for each kernel etc as it would vary phone to phone.
So I have the newest miui rom that is in the android development section. I am wondering if there are any kernels that I can change to that are better than the one it comes with. Am I even able to switch kernels?

Get the AOSP version of it JB also
Isn't there a kernel by faux or something? Or is there only one kernel I can have?
Yes, Fuax has a JB CM10 kernel. It's what I use since KT747 doesn't ever work for me.

Can Sprint HTC one kernels workon our VZW Ones?

No.
I figured that much. My thought behind the question was that maybe the kernels for the htc one were like the universal kernels for the S3.

There could be but to the best of my knowledge NEVER flash another carriers kernel..
I'd like to see these universal kernels..
you aren't talking about ROMs that can be flashed on any carrier? that just has all the files for all the carriers, so it chooses your device by the coding in your phone and will select the correct one and flash the kernel for your ROM.
Imoseyon Had kernels that were universal. Im not sure if they had installers that detected which device you had or if the kernels were literally universal.
But how hard would it be to make a kernel from someones sprint source code? Did HTC ever release source code for VZW?

it's not possible to use sprints code..
or.. we would
This seems like an appropriate thread to post this:
Do the ROM's and Kernels from the general HTC One thread work for our Verizon version? Some of the threads read they work on all carriers except Sprint...
Anyone know when HTC will release the source code for the verizon or do you know if this version would work? I wouldn't mind putting something together...but I have only had this device a few days and I only starting to get a Sense of what's going on...
One HTC WWE MR 3.4.10 v4.2.2 99.7 MB 2.24.1136.1
I agree. I know that in some way a kernel would be able to be compiled because we have working CM, Vanir roms. Those dont run on sense kernels. So some how some way a kernel can be compiled.

Yes a kernel can and has been compiled using the International source code.
That doesn't mean it is ideal or going to work well on our stock rom or at all.
Once my device arrives on Thursday I plan to look into it.
But I would prefer that Verizon and HTC just get on the ball and drop our source so we can be sure to build proper kernels.
I just read something over at HTC elevate where someone mentioned we can use the Kernel Source code from the International LTE One to build a kernel for VZW.

Correct, that's the one I meant. :good:
I updated my post above accordingly.
That was what was used for our CM10.2 and likely anything else we have that's AOSP based so far.
Would still like for HTC/Vzw to get with it and just release ours as well, as there could be slight variations in a few regards.
I prefer AOSP builds. With that being said id be looking for a kernel for AOSP builds. I just feel more comfortable using a lean kernel, stripped of unnecessary junk and optimized for speed and battery life. I feel custom ones give me that over stock.
Please include build date if its a particular build also please include any modifications u do. Like new kernel or tweaks. Also for kickers include radio version.

Really...its all preference ....so start flashing and find out.
Everyone's opinion will be different.
If this was Family Fued .....this would be the number one answer.

ive been using pro bam 4.3 rom and it has been great. except for battery running out a little fast but am giving it a few days for the rom to settle in!
PA 3.99
I have been messing around with a lot of 4.3 roms and pretty much all of them have the same stability. As for me, I prefer PA (Paranoid Android) 3.99 and PAC Rom but more toward PA 3.99 because it just seem slightly less buggy and bit smoother. Again, to each their own at this point since there is no official 4.3 for this device.

I've been using Hellybean , always you the latest, no issues. Love it.
As others have said its really just a preference thing. I have been trying out a few different ROMs, just to see which ones I like the most, especially 4.3 versions. I have been using [ROM] Unofficial | CyanogenMod 10.2 | Diablo Kernel [09-23-13] from ThdDude for the past day or two and havent had any issues to speak of. I really like that it has the Diablo Kernel compiled. I have noticed though that for some reason when I was trying to Flash 4.3 ROMs with CWM the system would boot but then go black and would have to go into recovery. I finally decided to give TWRP a try and havent experienced any problems flashing 4.3 ROMs. I have actually really been enjoying it and have some real respect for the developers.
stable 4.3 roms
The best I have used is the 9/26 aokp by whitehawkz along with uber kernel. Running 2.6.3.0 twrp. Especially like the active notifications with no problems.
There is no BEST and yet they are all the BEST. Members are expected to research and read through the development threads before altering their device. The only thing you will get here is a list of all the ROM's because every member has found what is best for them. You can get the same list by looking at the first few pages in development.
Thread closed.
Have a great day!
I have been on here searching roms I have experimented with twrp cwm and philz recoveries and have to say philz seems to be the best for our devices
Now I'm ready to flash a customer rom and kernel I have researched and with all the possibilities out there I would like to know which rom and kernel work the smoothest I'm looking for a 4.4 rom and kernel in you guys opinions which one works the smoothest and is compatible with philz recovery

Try any of sleshepic roms with either the devil kernel, or Plasma kernel.. I personally us Classic 3.0 TW with devils kernel and so far running real smooth.. It is one of the most stable TW roms for this phone..
Stock-wise @sleshepic is my go-to guy (disclosure: I am a bit biased though because of our past work to get said kernels to build properly.)
Alternatively..
If you have access to Linux you could try taking the repo from my Github and start making your own tweaked kernel.
Just look for the Community kernel thread as that's where we usually keep links and instructions up on building.
@garwynn I will look into that I'm still new to this I tried to develop a kernel for the HTC one sv but that was more advanced for what I was ready for it was a ported gsm to cdma rom kernel
