Anyone find a cheap SlimPort adapter to get HDMI out to a TV?
I've been looking and was hoping they'd come down in price by now...
I know Amazon sells others, but the one from Analogix is the official one from what I understand, and it encounters the least issues. Further, they guarantee compatibility with all Nexus devices, as well as LG devices, and one of the Chromebooks. I personally use the SlimPort by Analogix (SP1002) for my N4, and it works very well. There is a new model out now (SP1003), which came out in July, which replaced the older model. From what I understand, it allows for better charging capabilities.

Buy adapter, imagine the possibilities! Day one: I can now watch Netflix on my TV via my phone! I can share photos from my phone on my TV!
Day two: Quickly realize I have no need or reason to do that again
Week two: Sell adapter

^^ This is how I imagine it would go if I bought one as well.

I was tempted by some of the less expensive Slimport adapters on Amazon, but eventually decided to go with the Analogix (SP1003-2116). It is just under $30 and if you are a Amazon Prime member free two day shipping. It seemed to get much better reviews than the other Slimport adapters. Mine came in the mail today along with a wireless charger. Hopefully my N5 arrives Monday so they can play.

I need an MHL adapter ASAP. Does anyone have any experience with this MHL adapter?
Thanks!
EDIT:
What about this one! http://www.amazon.com/Skiva-Adapter...F8&qid=1341247731&sr=8-5&keywords=mhl+adapter
I have that one. It's worked with both a LG G2X and a Samsung Galaxy Note. I think most devices need to be hooked up in sequence for it to work properly (charger first then HDMI, or vice versa).
Edit: Oops, I meant Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket, not LG G2X (that one had its own HDMI out). Too many devices last year...
The reviews from people owning the Galaxy Nexus state that it has awful performance.

I just noticed the extra reviews. I need one for vacation, and this was one of the top ones on Amazon. If this doesn't work, I can always return it. That's not a problem. I just really need one.
Do you have any recommendations for MHL adapters on Amazon?
What about the other one in my OP?
I have the Skiva one. Works well. I PM'd you about it.
If you need one "ASAP" why not just run down to the TMobile store and pick one up.
I just bought one off of monoprice, 9 dollars. I'm sure by reviews it will work fine and monoprice has never failed me.

I don't have a TMobile store near me at all, and plus, I'd like to not pay out me butt cheeks. I need one by tomorrow and I figured I could use Amazon and get it for cheap with one day shipping with my Prime account.

That's too expensive when I toss in shipping. I would definitely have checked them out if I would have thought about this sooner. Sadly, I just thought about it last night, but I was busy with work.

EDIT: Apparently this one will NOT work for the s3 since it requires an 11 pin adapter.
This seems to be the most affordable and quality product that I could find, and has really good reviews on Amazon as well. At $11.99, you really can't go wrong here.

Is this confirmed for the sgs3? I thought it used a new, unique mhl adapter. Samsung has made an adapter for old adapters but that's like another $15 and then you need two dongle things

I think someone said something about monoprice working on one.
Anybody have one or planning on getting one? I'm kinda bummed I'll have to get another one (already have MHL) dumb competing standards. The few available on Amazon seem overpriced (in the $30 range) for a chunk of plastic and some wire.
Buy the one from analogix. That is the official one and it does cost $30. It is pricy when compared to regular MHL adaptors, but its worth it if you plan on using it.

What the cable gets you that the chromecast doesn't is direct streaming of content. chromecast does not currently support file playback through gallery. All direct streaming from the device (not from the internet) is "beta"
So say you want to play an MP4 file, you'd need this

i debate turning back to wires like this when i do enjoy what my chromecast does while also having hopes for the wireless display option to be 1:1 for all functions
I didn't even notice the port was not MHL. What nincompoop opted to go with this rather than MHL? Maybe I don't know something I should here, but hasn't MHL been around for a couple years now? And is there anything allegedly superior about slimport that would make it desirable over MHL?
This is just a little disappointing to me because both of my Samsung phones use MHL and at this point my backpack is already the subject of Guantanamo style field stripping every time I fly international.

MyDP (SlimPort) adapters are appearing on eBay for less than $20USD which I think is pretty good value. SlimPort has some clear advantages over MHL (scaling/no need to have charger plugged in etc).

Haha no worries. That's true. It will take a long time to arrive. They've just been really hard to get even through Asia so just thought I'd let people know since I came across them. Thanks.
I'm looking for one too. Even the one on ebay cost around $20 from china. Not counting waiting for over a month for it. Bought more than a few items from china, and only about 50% of them ever work.
Just be careful with the non analogical brand slimport adaptors. People from the N4 were having problems with certain ones. You can check in the N4 accessories thread as there is more information about them there.
I can confirm that the official one works perfect.

No clue about this guy. I have a Netgear PTV3000 that works pretty well for screen mirroring. I use it for streaming media. For gaming I use the Analogix Slimport since wireless mirroring addsd latency.
Would like to hear people's reviews about the Asus product as well. I guess will have to wait till it's release and someone tries it out.

AllCast is definitely a great video streaming option, especially for the cross platform (I have only tested it out on my Samsung TV). But, it is rather limited, at least at this time. Currently, it will only stream videos that are on your phone. It won't display pictures, stream other video services (Netflix, VUDU, etc), or even do mirroring. Hopefully, it will have these features in the future.
As for a mirroring device, I have high hopes for the ASUS Miracast Dongle. Hopefully, the dual bandwidth will cure the latency issues with the current wireless options. Unless I see reviews of it being a complete failure, I will be purchasing one of these.
Anyone seen when these will be released?
$100 for this is just crazy... and people complain about Apple's pricing?
android tv stick is a better choice
i recommend to buy an android tv stick like tronsmart mk908 or t908. it is a standalone pc stick and can even sstream everything via miracast.
it is much cheaper. chromecast or asus dongle are very limited of its functions.

Ah, this is just oversea Chinese TaoBao site.
The UGreen Adapter is well sold in China here, with . And indeed,, I didn't buy it.
But I have read enough reviews so let's me show you the conclusion.
This adapter is worth buying. Of more than 2000+ Good reviews only one or two complain with bad display. I think this is normal quality. Most just said it did show a very low delay and very convenient for watching TV , playing Games or making a PPT show.
Anyway, if I really needed this adapter maybe for business or some other reason, I would buy it.
Here is the Chinese site, wish there is no redirect when you visit. https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.19.59906aa0WNaBhI&id=541131418539&ns=1&abbucket=2
