Hi everyone
Ok my phone charges on samsung charger with my nokia n8 usb cable is fine and faster then default cabe.
But when i connect to my pc with usb cable it charges but very slow. i pluged it for full night but it charges only 45% with my usb cable i used in charger in usb 3.0 port.
any idea whats happening
and im charging it on USB port of pc, Coz one of my friend borrowed my charger without cable for a week.
and now i found out the prob.
Please suggest something.
Hey buddy. ..This isnt an issue at all....The standard note 2 charger is set at 2Amps...which suggests considerably fast charging....100% in about 4 hours. ..but if you are charging just from the usb using the pc port....It will definitely charge slower...because the phone is built so that the kernel will prevent excess power from a pc....After all. ...We plug the phone to transfer data....After all nd not to really charge....so it will be very slow...This is normal....It takes about 9 hours to reach 100% if I'm not mistaken....hope this helps

Hi
I actually experience the same thing with my new Galaxy S3!
My main charge + USB -> microusb cable used to charge the S3, now it won't
I need to plug the phone to my laptop to get it charged and it takes far longer!
Have you solved the issue?
Thanks a lot

Hey
Whenever ive had a phone with a usb port in the past ive usually charged it via USB connected to my PC. However, with the desire it takes about 45 mins to improve battery by 1% when connected to pc, whereas is takes about 1 min to do this when connected to AC. Ive never had this with any other phone which is why im wondering whether theres something wrong there
anyone else have this issue?
I'm pretty sure most devices do this.. any I've toyed with have..
it might be slower, but its never been this much slower. In fact, ive just had it plugged into usb for the last hour and the battery has gone DOWN 3%!!!!!
The current that you can draw through a USB port probably isn't as much! can't remember what the USB standard is but it's more that likely a lot lower than the AC charger
Yes, I am experiencing the same thing. On USB 1% every half an hour, on AC like 1% per minute. Still, I don't know what is causing this. The output power of AC and USB are different, but they shouldn't be this much.
is your laptop running on the mains or battery?
is your charging cable original (htc desire) ?
my laptop is running on the mains/AC but i am not using the cable that was originally bundled with the desire....should that make a difference though? Surely a USB cable is a USB cable?
Same here. Very slow on USB.
Wiki says this:
However, many devices require more power than this method can provide, and will not work in this type of hub.
USB current (related to power) is allocated in units of 100 mA up to a maximum total of 500 mA per port.

ive generally always charged my phone via USB and never had this problem with any phone. the desire must be sooo power hungry. Im actually at a stage now where even if i plug it into the USB port, it still loses charge
One usb hub can provide up to 500 miliamps of current, one port just 256. The ac adapter can give you 1000 ma. So do the calculations yourself

Since I have had my desire I have never charged it via the charger my pc charges it even when its turned off and I've never had any problems with charge speed.

i found the htc cable to be more effective than a micro usb one from samsung.
I've charged my phone from my PC loads of times. Takes about twice as long (roughly, I've never actually timed it).
Definitely not 1% per half hour though!
What is your setup and are you doing with the phone whilst it's connected?
With WiFi and 3G and the screen left on, I get +1% every 3.6mins using the PC USB.

no, i definately dont get it charge that quick. Also, for the record, when using gps connected to a car charger, it doesnt ever charge, it only loses charge at a much slower rate (not good for long journeys!) unless i switch the screen off
When its connected to the pc im usually not doing anything with it. If even tried it with the phone switched off before, charged it like this for an hour and then when i turned it back on it had only charged by 2%
what do you want to know about the setup? Could it actually have something to do with the fact im not using the original bundled USB cable? I just cant see that being a factor
something is definitly wrong with either your cable your phone.
Let's try to cancel out one of those factors:
-have you tried using a different able?
I have NEVER used the AC charger, i've always used the usb charging method, and it takes about 2 hours for a half charge.
ill try using a different cable and see what happens. could the fact im charging it off a netbook be a problem? i wouldnt have thought so as i always charged my last phone (touch diamond) off this netbook too
ok, so it seems the USB cable used DOES matter. When using the original one it charges a lot quicker via USB ... AND AC
i didnt realise different usb cables have different power transfer rates....i guess now i do
Do this test.
Try to charge the phone while it's off.
The power controller of the phone needs to split the power between the phone requirements and the charging of the battery.
I think that your phone is drawing to much power so there is very little left for the battery charge.
So 1. test the usb cable 2. test the power consumption of your phone.
I have no problems charging my phone, when it's connected to my desktop.
Use it all the time at work.
Hey all. I finally got my Note 3. I have been using it for a couple of days and, of course, it is awesome. But one thing is troubling me. I charge my phone via my desktop PC, which has several USB 3.0 ports. I first plugged it into the ones on the front, and it wasn't charging very quickly, so I plugged it into one of the back ports, and i'm still having the same problem.
For example, last night, I plugged it in around 1am at about 30%. It's now 7:30am and its at 96%. I would have figured it would be at 100 a while ago. I am using the original Samsung USB 3.0 cable that came with the phone.
I'll have to do a more scientific charging test to see what's going on, but has anyone else seen this?
The supplied charger puts out 2 amps. Which is much higher than any USB port on a PC will ever provide. That's why you're seeing such large disparities with charging rates.

A computer's USB 3.0 port is only spec'd to put out up to 0.9amps, compared to 0.5amps for the older USB 2.0, but the A/C charger puts out 2amps, so use that when charging time matters. I never use a computer's usb port for anything anymore except adb sideloading in recovery (where adb over wireless won't work). Note that SOME computers do have non-standard higher amp usb ports, but it's not that common.
ah I was also wondering why the charger itself charges the phone much faster than my desktop. Good info, thanks guys!
I have bought this item from ebay, it work great and charge the phone very fast

Thanks for the responses people. I will use the plug from now on.
The charging speed will definitely slower than..?
It is the normal case that the speed will be much slower when you charge a device such as your Note3 via USB than via DC Power Supply. USB is mainly designed for the communication. The standard charging current of many mobile phones is 1 A or higher. But the highest output current of USB cable is only 0.5 A which could not reach the source demand of a phone. Except for this, we do not recommend charging via USB because the unstable current output can easily reduce the battery life of your Note 3.
Hi Guys,
I'm just wondering if my unit is defective or it's really the case for Galaxy Note 8's. My tablet charges just fine when using the wall charger, but when I connect it to my PC, it won't charge at all. I've tried different cables that I use for my phone and other gadgets, but none of them will work.
Is there a way for me to make it charge via USB?

Mine also says not charging when its plugged to the PC, its because the USB ports supposedly don't give enought current to charge the tablet, but i once left it connected overnight while transfering my MP3 collection and in the morning the tablet was 100% charged, so i think even if it says is not charging, it charges but ultra slow, even slower than a cell phone.
USB ports on a PC does not put out enough voltage to charge the tab. Like said above, if it does, it will take forever. Look on the back of your wall charger. It should say 10v. USB ports typically put out only 5v. If you look on the back of a phone charger, it should be 5v.

It's not the volts, it's the amps. Your charger provides 2A. A typical USB port provides 0.5A. But in any case, you'll not be able to charge this device from a computer USB port. It's not a fault in the device.
That explains it then. Thanks guys
Hmmm... I alway charge my note 8.0 thru my pc usb.
It charges on my pc and lap top.
If you want to be sure just let is sit for an hour and see if the % went up.
Doesnt charge fast but charges in an evening from 60 to 100%
Perhaps it doesn't charge while the screen is on, because the power drain exceeds the charge rate? There would be no way to see it change to "charging" because the screen must be off for that to happen... Just some speculation

I have a HP Envy M6 laptop that I use to charge my Note 8. It only charges on the port closest to the battery. The only USB 2.0 port out of 3 other USB 3.0 ports which is odd because they say USB 3.0 ports give out more power.
I have tried charging it with another HP laptop that has the same USB setup but it doesnt charge in any one of the ports, 2.0 or 3.0.
I guess it just depends on the PC you're charging it with.
Can charge.
hi,
We can charge note 8, if the note is switched off and connected to a PCvia USB
Normally Note 8.0 can not charge with pc usb port or car usb port because AC current of them too low only 0.5A (minimum AC current of charging require should be 1A)
Samsung Tablet stock charger is 2.1A (Note 8.0 device allows 1.8A)
Hi all.
i bought a lenovo K8 note and also it was working perfectly and now i have a problem in charging.
its already providing a turbo charger with this device. since before two day i connect OTG on my phone and after that when i connect charger all are showing charging over USB and its deadly slow to charge my device. it takes almost 9 to 12 hour for 0% to 100%,
i tried changed cable with new 2.4A fast cable. try with USB 3.0 Ports, Try With Wall mount Chargers 2.0 AMPS, 3.5Amps etc.
I reset the device and also i am flashed my rom with 7.1.1 (Stock ROM). nothing was helpful. still now my device showing Charging over USB while charge with any charger on battery screen. deadly slow to charge up device (almost 12 hour need to full the battery before it was 3 hour maximum time)
So anybody have the same issue. I hope our teams got a solution for this
let me know the solution please.

Been having this same issue myself, I'm too lazy to visit the service centre though, try visiting it maybe?
I am unlocked my bootloader so is that will cause loss warranty ?

I am having the same issue
I was try to change the all are like charger, cable, etc. But nothing was helpful. Basically i am a electronics tech. So I just bypass the charging Lines directly to battery with a suport of and diode.
After that it was much better (but can't see the percentage while charging)
Now I sell the product to some shop..
Now happy with asus zenphone max pro m1
In my finding i got a Final report.
It's battery response issue..
The battery have turbo identifier inside. T+ t- mark ups. (I removed back cover and checked all)
You can see the turbo controller in battery.
Maybe if you are in warranty quickly visit services center and ask for battery replacement.
Have a good time ahead.
Admins This thread is now resolved my self. So please close this with my solution.
Thanks.
