I have a SanDisk Extreme microSDXC UHS-I 64GB card in my XPERIA M
Read: ~35MB/sec Write: ~25MB/sec
BUT.....
Most high performance or larger card sizes come formatted as exFAT.
This will not work in a stock XPERIA M phone.
You will have to use something like MiniTool Partition or a bespoke SD card formatter like Ridgecrop Consultants Ltd SD card formatter to format the card (mostly using a PC) to FAT32.
If you're formatting cards over 32GB you 'must' (strongly recommended) use a cluster size of 32-64KB
Otherwise the FAT32 indexing gets way out of control as the number of files increase and especially if they're smaller files.
The default cluster size is around 8-16KB on FAT32.
Warning - I have provided the same info for an XPERIA X10i and many people could not use much more than a 16GB class6 card in their phones for whatever reason. I have never had a problem.
So don't buy a Class10 64GB microSD card thinking it is guaranteed to work, however, for me at this time I have not found a SanDisk(just happens to be the cards I have) SD card that doesn't work.
Tested
SanDisk Ultra 4GB
SanDisk Ultra 32GB
SanDisk Ultra 64GB
SanDisk Extreme 64GB
I also have a microUSB "Galaxy Note Connection Kit" Model: DR03-S2 which allows an external SDcard to be mounted.
So i"ve had a SanDisk Ultra 64GB card (usbdisk) and the internally (sdcard1) SanDisk Extreme 64GB both mounted at the same time.
Corroboration, please
It would indeed be awesome if I could fit a 64 or 128 GB SD-card in my Xperia M. Can someone please corroborate that this actually does work? I don't want to buy a 64 GB card before I am absolutely sure.
Best,
Magnus
Any microSD card of any size and class will work in in Xperia M. Since we don't have exFAT support, when you get your card you'll need to reformat it as FAT32, and then it'lll work fine, but you won't be able to store files bigger than 4GB (FAT32 limitation)...

Many thanks for confirming that this will work. I will order a 64 GB card. Does anyone have any clues as to the quality of the audio chipset on the XM? I think the sound quality for mp3 playback (in headphones) is at least as good as on my iPod. Does that seem reasonable?
Best,
Magnus
are SDHC UHS-1 compatable ?
Hey, has anyone used UHS-1 compatable sd card, I was thinking of buying Samsung MicroSDHC 16 GB Class 10 Evo.
Presently I use Scan Disk Class 4 , which give Read/Write speed as 15.07/5.01 on A1 Sd Benchmark tool
Please post your card details and read write speeds.
My main aim is to be able to play games without lag while using folder mount

Getting exFAT support is easy but i don't have enough time to build kernel. If someone is willing to get exFAT support on his/her kernel i can certainly help.

My phone Sony xperia M support Samsung Evo+ 32GB Class 10 micro SDHC Card Upto 80 Mbps speed
In case anyone's still wondering, I've just tested my Xperia M2 Aqua with a 64GB Kingston Canvas micrSDXC card. It just needed to be formated to FAT32 just as other users have reported. I could test my 256GB Samsung EVO on it but it would be such a chore to back everything up haha.
In theory, there shouldn't be a problem, if one SDXC card works, then it should be possible for higher capacity cards to work as well.
EDIT: silly me! I didn't realize this thread was about the original Xperia M! haha. Anyhow...

Normaly it would be faster a class 8 but the artemis will not be any faster. It will not get the max speed of the card.
exactly speed might be a point for digital camera or sdhc card reader, not for PDA. Same for example as with mine 4GB SD 150x in Universal - no diff. in transfer rates between 66x SDcard and 150x. There is max. transfer rate of the mboard - i doubt it can be oveclocked. So if U dont need to transfer helluva lot of datas on daily basis thru SDHC card reader.....better to save some money for beer

Now i'm confused... max throughput of pda = 150x? then i should get a card that can handle that speed, right?
IOW: What is the max throughput of the phone?
I was speaking about classic SD cards (transfer rates are as multiple of ??default speed??) But there is no change in data throughput in device (and same with SDHC) simply transfer speeds are exactly same w/o connection to class or speed of the card in PDA-other thing is card reader. As i wrote above - if u dont need to transfer large amounts of data from PC... no need to have class8
the 8G sandisk card apparently dosnt read as fast as lower class devices. but as someone said the phone isnt at top speed like its wifi being 11mb b not G.
I have a Sandisk 8Gb microSDHC Class 4 in my Artemis ( WM6 touchflo 4 cube ROM) I store all my non ROM programs & files from the card & all video etc is of course stored on the card.
Cant say I noticed any lag vs smaller 2Gb Sandisk microSD card. I tried loading video on Device Memory to see if it played better & it didnt .

the original p330 don't read the micro SDHD only the SD type. You have to install a cab that enable the p3300 to read the SDHD, then soft reset. I do in mine and all works fine
Use a tool to format your storage card properly, that increases the speed a lot more. 66x card should be fast enough.
Change the cluster size from 512 Bytes to 4 KB or higher. Note that you will lose free space because every file is at least 4 KB big, even if it's just 1 byte in size.
If you don't have lots of small files this is a good option. My card is now three times faster but I lost about 1 GB of free space.
Hi,
So I'm finally out of space and I need a 32GB microSD card. I'm going to use it for storing photos/videos (directly written on the card) and music, and I'm also going to use it as a USB storage. I've been looking around the forums and found this Sandisk UHS-I card:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221067563602
Question is, does GS2 support UHS-I cards? Is UHS-I compatible with the device? If it is, will it work at maximum speed or will the device treat it as a class 10 card? I'm concerned my GS2 won't be able to work well with the UHS-I card because of incompatibility. Should I just get a regular Class 10 card instead?
Thanks!
Your fine but you missed the deal, yesterday Best Buy had it on sale for $20 and you didn't have deal with shipping
I just looked it up on Best Buy, they sell it for $70 now, isn't it a bit strange that I found it on eBay for only $27? The eBay seller got quite a lot of positive feedbacks and looks pretty reliable. I hope it's just Best Buy overpricing the item.
I still need an answer for my most important question: Does GS2 support UHS-I cards? Is this UHS-I card fully compatible with the device?
Thanks again.

What sort of problems? My S2 on LS8 JB only wrote to the card (UHS-1 64GB) at 6-8 MB/s making me think the card was defective but on LSJ it writes at 9-12 MB/s. ALso when performing tests my cpu usage is very high so I would recommend not underclocking during tests and maybe locking cpu with performance governor. Anyway I just wanted to share my experience of also being sceptical but now happy

I've looked around the web and found some bad reviews on the SanDisk card (mainly unreliable card, dying in few months), so I looked instead for a Samsung one with great reviews, which seems a bit more reliable:

UHS-I cards are backwards compatible AFAIK, so they are probably operating at slower speeds than they would in a native UHS device.
Bought a Samsung 32GB Class 10 UHS-1 card from MyMemory for 21 pounds (=$33). Preferred to pay extra ~$7 to a reliable store and not waste my time and money on fake chink ones at eBay.
I'll let you know the details once I get it ^.^
what read/write speed you achieve?
Got the card today - exactly 10 days after I ordered ^.^ It's this card: http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDHC/Samsung/Samsung-32GB-Micro-SDHC-Plus-up-to-48MB_s-Class-10
Pretty good results from what I've seen around.
Tested on I9100T 16GB with Omega ROM V16.2 (XXLSJ), whilst a few phone calls and endless WhatsApp messaging (in case any of it affects the results), Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit with WDC Green 500GB 5400RPM HDD.
What do you guys think?
Hello, i need help please.
I have Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9505) with Android 4.2.2 and only 16GB of memory.
Which microSD card you people recomend me to buy?
1. SanDisk Extreme Pro 16GB (read 95MB/s and write 90MB/s); SDSDQXP-016G
2. Samsung MicroSDHC Pro 16GB (read 70MB/s and write 20MB/s); MB-MGBGB
3. Toshiba Exceria Ultra High Speed Class 10, UHS-I Typ HD (read 95MB/s and write 30MB/s)
Which one is better?
Will i get this speed results on my phone when i will make a speed test of rear/write on microSD card or this results are not true?
Or will be the same if i buy SanDisk Ultra C10 (read 30MB/s and write 10MB/s) becouse of limitation on my device? Could Galaxy S4 do more that 10MB/s write?
I would like have a very fast microSD for recording my video in FULL HD without any lag.
Last year i had Galaxy S3 with SanDisk Ultra C10 and when i was recording, the video "sticking"

There are a LOT of fake cards floating around. You need to be extremely careful about your sources.
If a card looks unbelievably cheap, it probably is, but that doesn't mean that ones at normal price aren't fake either.
Take a look at http://www.bunniestudios.com/blog/?page_id=1022 for some background from a few years back.

Yes. I have a Samsung 32 GB microSDHC UHS-I card and it works.
When installing apps on the phone, are they installed in the hidden system partition, or on the internal SD card section?
Considering I would use the external SD card mainly for nandroid backups, pictures and videos – both captured by the phone itself, do I need a class 10 card or would a class 4 do?
Thank you.

To start with the internal SD card and the system partition are the same storage, just partitioned and both of them are accessible.
The application apk files are stored in the system partition while the InternalSD is used for user app data. You can store your stuff there too but try to leave a little memory free for your phone to use it without problems.
Secondly, I had an 8Gb Class4 Sandisk before, used it for months without any problem with regular use.
I am using a 16 Gb Class10 SanDisk now, and if you want more storage and use heavy files, like heavy high definition videos and high definition games, you should get a Class10, the read speed is noticeably better.
On side note, each nandroid backup is about 1.8Gb in size so storing them on SD card would be better
Since I am one of those heavy backup guys I am going for a 32GB one.
One this I thought about, I can imagine the card is limited by its reader, any idea if the GRAND even has a class 10 reader, seems like the spiritual father of the grand - the S# has only a class 6 one.

I agree. Most phone's support all class of card but they are limited by their reader. But I don't know which reader is in grand but it definitely supports class 10 cards as I'm myself using it and don't really know how to check it on phones.

You get a decent idea of write speed, it's almost twice of the minimum set for any clas 10 card (10MB/s), so safe to assume that it's working good

SanDisk Ultra SDHC UHS-I (Class 10) Card 16GB with a boosted read-ahead speed of 4096kb
Well I bought a Transcend 32GB class 10 card, tests are similar to your tiny bit higher, but reads seems way too high (around 300MB/s) maybe SD booster is measuring the internal SD, anyhow thanks for your help!

I have used the same 64GB card in my Galaxy Note and Xperia Z and never had any problems, so you should be good to go!:good:
Used both 64 and 128gb sandisks on z1c with out issue.
Other then the fact any android 4.4.4 devices deny any non system apps write access to the sd (until root+xposed at the very least is applied.)
Is somebody able to confirm if external SDcard encryption is an option in the settings?
Inserted a Samsung 32GB Class 10, no issues.
Samsung 64GB EVO here. No problem.

I just ordered the Sandisk Extreme Plus 64gb, picking it up on the way home and if DHL delivers my phone today I can run the test and post them results.
Well when it first came out (the tab s 8.4) only 128gb micro SD cards were the largest available.
So my question, can we assume that any micro SD XC 1 card will work fine in this tablet?
I ask because I stumbled upon this 200GB card now available.

Or is this tabs card slot locked some how to only except up to 128GB max?
If the Tabs S works with XC 1 cards have an 128gb one and it works fine, I suppose an 200gb that is XC 1 should work as well as an guess.

Get the biggest card you can afford, a 64gb or 128gb, I only ever buy Samsung flash cards for years for my camera`s phones and tablets, I all do a exhaustive error test when i get them and i have never found an error or had one fail, So i don't have any experience of other brands but Sandisk is a good brand.
I just bought an Samsung 128GB Evo+ the other day for £36 and i am just about finishing the error testing, It is showing a write speed of 20.46mb/s and a read speed of 63.56mb/s these are just basic number using an USB 3.0 card reader on my notebook, I have an crystal disk mark test results if you want to see them.
My T800 10.5" has formated my Samsung 128GB EVO+ as ExFat file system, benchmarks should really be run with the card in your Tab S for real world results.
John.
Thanks! Time to test out Samsung sd cards then.
Highly recommended Samsung evo cards. Its all I use now. Good value for money.
A few speed test reviews on Amazon say the Samsung 128GB EVO+ is not very good as the 4K file write speed is very low, But i dont write anything that small, even ebook files or mp3 files are hundreds of mb/s
