Okay, so i just wanted to confirm. Are all the Samsung Galaxy S3 phones of all variants getting the 4.3 update? I have the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE Variant (SGH-T999L) and i wanted to know if my phone model will also get the update. I was thinking about going back to stock and unrooting my phone for this update but i just wanted to know before i actually return to stock.

Yes your device is slated to get the update. Probably in the next month or two. Check TmoNews for the Release Schedule.

4.3 is JB and not KitKat. I thought SGS3 will get KitKat. Am I missing something?

4.4 Touchwiz (Kitkat) is a RUMOR. Not official, but there were files for KNOX confirming it. Don't expect it anytime in early 2014 though. 4.4 will be on AOSP within the month of November though I'm sure.

According to the Leaks Android Police got, all 4 carriers will only get 4.3 in a staggered roll out. Read this blog post for all the Details.

I see JB roms, did this phone already get JB? If not, are there any fully working JB roms and is there a date the official update comes out? Thanks for the help.
JB has already been pushed out as an OTA from Google. Every device may not have received it yet, but it has been out for several weeks now.

Does this also apply to the Verizon model? This is where I'm confused. If it's not, why wouldn't it be available if it is on the others?

as of right now jellybean is not available for the verizon model, there is a ported gsm version of jellybean that works on verizon gnex . click here
Considering the way Verizon treat the Galaxy Nexus, I don't expect them to release Jelly Bean for it in a couple months, but there is always custom rom.

GSM models have 4.1.1 OTA if you're of the "takju" or "yakju" firmware variant, which are updated directly by Google. Other variants, such as yakjuxw and yakjujp have yet to be updated.
CDMA models have yet to receive an OTA.
Unfortunately Verizon is notorious for this when it comes to updates. Especially when it comes to the Nexus. It took forever to do any updates on the Nexus and it still has signal issues that were suppose to fixed months ago.
Do you think the Note 2 on Verizon might have possibility of running 4.2?
If not, when would it be released? I want all those features.
Never mind. A quick Google search shows Q1 2013 for Note 2 and S3.
4.2

As of right now the strong rumor is that it will be reased in the 1Q of 2013 for the Note 2 and the GS3 However this is for unlocked GSM phones. As always if you want the latest firmware get a Nexus device or get a internatiol version of a phone. If you buy your phone from a cellphone provider like VWZ or ATT etc........They will hold at the min the update for 6 months before they give it to you. Gives them time to add in all there bloatware.
As always if you have helped you with the post please Click Thank:laugh:

4.2 does not have any juicy things like 4.1 has so I don't need it now. If it comes then it is fine otherwise I don't need it. The toggles are already there and I have continuous input already available so nothing much required. This is me and others might want something from features of 4.2
Thx, but new to droids...

Only Nexus devices get updates direct from Google.
For the Note 2 they will come from Samsung, or if you're unlucky, from the carrier.
Best thing to do is keep checking on XDA.

I already have the GN8 wifi and want to get the AT&T LTE verison. I can live without root if I can install 4.2.2. Is 4.2.2 available for AT&T GN8? I only see the GT-N5120 and the device number is different for the AT&T model.

If it's available, I haven't seen it yet. We're at the mercy of AT&T pushing it sadly. Has Samsung officially released it?

Love this SGH-I467 !!!
I too came from a ipad 2 64 GIG from AT&T. I cannot believe how fast this note 8 is on LTE!!! I love this Note 8, I also have a Galaxy Note 2 and probably getting a Note 3 when it drops... a la the 0 ZERO DOWN AT&T deal. I use this Note 8 for work, home and everywhere in between. I cant put it down... I just hope there will be either an 4.2 or dare I say... 4.3 update!!! And if not I know we have some kick ass developers on this site!!! So maybe we can get what we need and when we want it soon

Like me. I'm using the international NON LTE version. The N5100 on straight talk a AT&T MVNO. Everything works and get between 300kb/s-800kb/s.
Best Phone I have ever bought. I love the big screen.
It's been stated that the Gear will require 4.3 to utilize low power Bluetooth and they said the release will be Early October in the US. They also mentioned that they will upgrade the S3, S4 and Note 2 to make them compatible in October.
I believe this would mean that the S3 will get updated to 4.3 in October. Which would probably mean that the T-Mobile Variant would be Nov/Dec.
Anybody else with any thoughts?

I hope. But seriously don't hold your breath.
If they said the International S3 is getting the update in October then we should expect a T-Mobile update no later than 2 or 3 months after the initial release. I assume T-Mobile might delay the update until January 2014 so it can sell more newer devices during the holiday season. Carriers are known to delay updates since they still need to add their bloatware, carrier settings, pre-release testing, etc. and it would be smart for them to delay the update to prevent people with older devices from deciding not to upgrade in the holiday season due to a new software update.
When the new update is released I'm sure you will get it here on xda rooted before you get the official OTA update from T-Mobile.
They didn't say anything other than "S3", which actually leads me to believe it'd be the international one since they'll support the Exynos before they'll support the Snapdragon.
There is a sticky for other devices
I'm currently stuck in a position where I can't get the OTA NK3 Update for my AT&T Note4. Details below:
- AT&T Note4 SM-N901A on 4.4.4 (build N910AUCU1ANIE)
- Unlocked via purchased unlock code
- Currently being used on TMobile network (Which is why I'm being told I won't ever see the OTA update)
If someone were to have a flash-able ROM of the NK3 update that'd be epic. (Or any other way of getting me updated for that matter)
As of now i have a nice new shiny gearVR paperweight.
Any thoughts?
I would call a Best buy and see if they have the Samsung Experience shop. Then talk to them to see if they can flash it for you. They have been able to do that for other devices like the S4
The easiest thing I guess it will work is borrow the ATT Sim card of someone using ATT Note 4. Plug that in and do update then give the simcard back and Thank you

Yeah a flashable tar would be great. I'll ask in the OTA thread.

Just got back from my local Best Buy Samsung Shop, they hooked my note4 up and told me it was the latest version, they even re-flashed to see if it'd update but i'm on the same build as before. I'm currently looking for a SIM card to try to check OTA with, but all my coworkers are ATT iPhone users thus the sim cards are wrong size.
Getting a lil bummed. Think i'll ever see a flashable NK3 update? I was surprised sammobile / kies didn't even have any updates for me.
Just wait. Hopefully root is cracked soon. Would hate it if the NK3 causes problems with future rooting.
Woot!!
