I have been in contact with Phil3759, the excellent recovery developer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
I asked if it would be possible for us to get a version of his recovery for the Optimus G Pro, and his reply was that we didn't need get him a phone if it is arm based as soon as we have a cm device tree. He did say that direct donations are always welcome.
Isn't the e980 part of the CM device tree?
Let's move this forward! We need a good functional and updated recovery for this device.
But g pro is part of the cm device tree!

I thought that was correct, so I'm trying to move this forward and volunteering to help any way I can. I've responded to the dev and informed him of that.
You guys don't know what you are missing if you haven't used PhilZ Recovery. It's the best CWM recovery there is, period.
Who's with me on trying to move this forward?
Okay, so I heard from the developer.
To make this happen, we need to provide him a stock boot.img from recent firmware for the E980 + /system/lib/.../*exfat*.ko file that goes with that boot.img rom
I'd suggest that we use something universally applicable to all E980 devices. Maybe the preferred Stock Panama Firmware, since it's a good stock base?
We need to put it all on a fast mirror like mediafire and I need to let him know when it's ready by PM or in main thread. Is there anyone who can do that? I don't have my device yet, otherwise, I'd do it.
I'm not sure how the Loki work around fits into this, but I'm sure he can work with it. Help me out.
Now's the chance for us to start making things better!
Come on, guys! :good:
I have a e986 with e988 baseband. If I can help I want to just tell me that i can do.

Great. AS far as I can tell, the E980 is the most universal, so those files should serve all of the other variants as well. If I'm wrong, now's the time to say something variant owners, because this is our chance to get a truly customizable, frequently updated and functional recovery for the LGOG Pro.
PM me when you are ready.
Will work at e988?

He doesn't have it yet. As soon as one is provided to me, or I can make one myself, (no device as of yet) I'll forward the info to him and get things working with Loki.
This is going to be the best recovery for the LG OG for sure.
Do you want my boot.img?

Thanks a ton!
Just to confirm: This is for E980?
I want to try to make this as broad a supported project as possible, so if anyone else wants to contribute, now's the time to step up and light that candle, rather than curse the darkness.
We NEED more development for the LG OG Pro, and better recoveries will make that easier, folks.

Question for you guys.
Dev here (from such rootings as the Galaxy Tab 2, and fixing gps on the Wifi Sony Tablet Z).
Considering getting one of these (on sale at new egg for 279 this weekend)
What is the status of the Bootloader? Is is locked? Is LG allowing unlock?
How about root?

we have officially loki'd it but that is about it. We don't have a dev to do the rest. DJRBLISS added it to the list. PLEASE BUY!!!
EDIT* Which if you are not aware allows you to flash recoveries, roms and anything your heart desires. It bypasses the locked bootloader and gives your the same result of a unlocked bootloader.(so far all LG devices are loki compatible, been flashing for months on my G2 with that method) Just need to make a recovery compatible for our device. TWRP has a guide but we don't have a dev to do the work.
P.S. i just bought mine from new egg!
We've got root, but some people are paranoid about the method. A few of us have been working on getting a recovery working but we're new at it. I feel like I'm getting close.

I think I'm going to, the thing we need is a kernel source, which under the GPL we can ask for (they can ignore it lol)
2 of us at CMB (I know is a new never heard much of team rom, my rom) will have them, so if we can create (we being everyone here) a solid device tree we will be good to go.
I have a N5 and had an N4, I think the G2/N5/N5 trees will be the place to start creating one.

add vanilla 5.1.0 build.
Any changelog, any bugs? I believe if you update the OP accordingly, more people will install the ROMs.
How difficult would porting this to the e970 be?
Would I be able to use it by just flashing a geeb kernel?
First if you want something you should ask nicely or do it yourself.
This is international thread.
And for your second question I believe so because the only things you guys stay without are camera and SD card an that is kernel related.
Just do a backup first and then try it out with a geeb kernel.
And is because of that kind of people I stopped posting my projects in the community.

You should be a bit careful with your words before categorizing people as "this kind of people"
Not nice, especially on XDA.

XDA isn't what it used to be. There's so much people lazy to test and learn on they own, that I barely answer to anything nowadays.
Tho, if you're developing, and want to know, I bet the dev of this thread has a github, which you can check. As a dev, understand it is a must.

Yeah, i think its dead. The last update was 9 days ago LOL.
Except for Bluetooth bug (which plagues all roms that use kevs sources) it will run close to perfect.
As with all roms you are curious to try, do a nandroid backup, test rom and if you dont like restore backup..... And read atleast the last 5+ pages thread before asking such questions.
thanx the developer about his time and for sharing his project

I tried to be clear that this was for the tutorial, not needed for you...yet.
If you are going to flash a ROM, even via FlashFire, I believe that you will trip Knox. Same with a custom kernel. (Joe, can you ask a dev?) That said, if flashing a ROM is in your future or if you want to include this in your tutorial, then you might as well flash and use TWRP. And if you flash TWRP, you should flash the patch.
Joe, I hope to see you on the Dark Side soon...we have cookies! (And some pretty cool ROMS!)

Could someone please clearly explain how to install LG Quick Remote or any other stock app for that matter on a custom ROM running Lollipop.
I've browsed so many forums and people say different things and there's no coherency.
Please let us know how you did it, only if you have actually done it. Most LGQRemote.zip files don't work when flashed from recovery.

Every QRemote zip outthere for this phone is for Kitkat or Jellybean, and that's the main reason why it's not working on Lollipop. I don't know if someone got those from other QRemote supported devices which got LP update and tried, but last one I saw working properly was madmack's zip.
I could try to make a flashable LP zip as soon as my exams finish (in a 3-4 weeks) and I find fully working ROM for LP (in progress, my ISP is going nuts) I could build and maybe support, because right now, my E988 is on Kitkat since CM doesn't want to accept existing patch for modem, and available versions are too old and buggy.
Does it mean that the remote app on the F240 running stock lollipop does not work on custom lollipop ROMs?
I don't know before I try, I'll have to download a F240 LP KDZ and extract it...

Whats this?!? A Canadian developer for us canucks?! Welcome man! This is exciting and it looks awesome! Nice to see it themed. Whoever at samsung thought the aqua or whatever colour in the notification shade looked good on stock TW should be fired
Just got through reading and checking the pics, can't wait to get home and try this out! Looks and sounds like exactly what I am looking for but can't decide stock or ultimate lol. Likely Ultimate though to play around with that and go from there.
Thanks for putting this up! So happy to see a Canadian Note 4 rom!
