there is a file named "libwfds.so" located in "system-vendor-lib" that u need to replace with the modified version below...i just uploaded a rom ive been working on with the fix included if u would like to test it out which i'll link to below as well. The solution was proivided by @esgie for the notepro 12.2 LTE which uses the same chipset (snapdragon 800) as our device & also has the same version 4.4.2 android...i can personally confirm that this works well since i spent 2 hours testing it out myself the other night

EDIT: @Eward ...if u happen to read this can u edit your thread title so that it says "Rooted" instead of "Tooted". It was good for a lil laugh & it's a minor mistake (never even noticed until @JaylanPHNX pointe it out below :silly but i wouldnt want someone to miss this info because of a mispelled word...also i'm glad that the fix works for u as well
I had to give you a thanks because of the typo in the thread title. I can't stop laughing at the thought your screen mirroring problem could be flatulence related.
From my Pro Tab 8.4
Frustrated also

Same thing happened to me too after rooting. I forgot I had an HDMI cable run under my house from my easy chair to my Plasma. I sent dongle back to Amazon. I got the samsung usb 3 to hdmi and couldn't be happier.

Try to take your suggestion to replace the file provided by esgie, but nothing changed. Still the function of allshare cast does not work.

I left some info out of that post...first u need to make sure that u in fact set the proper permissions which should be rw-r--r-- (0644) then u will most likely need to wipe both the regular & dalvik cahe before it will work (or u could just flash the rom in the same post but u would still need to wipe afterwards). i used the above method to connect to a samsung smart tv with the screen mirroring function built in multiple times...if u are using the allshare hub then there have been reports of people needing to actually reset the device (hub) and/or also needing to long press on its name in the list & put in some sort of code
Hi,
Thanks for your farther guidance and help, my sccreen mirroring is functioning. Again, thanks.

From what I've read, those types of devices (or anything other than connecting it to a PC) requires OTG (On the Go) support.

I have a Verizon USB LTE Dongle U620L that I would like to use with the Pixel C. I have successfully. used it in the past on a Chromebook by add a custom udev rule in the /etc/udev/rules.d directory. I believe this should work on the Pixel C but can't figure out on how to make the filesystem writeable to add this directory and the rule file needed. Can anyone help? I would like to avoid rooting if possible so that I can still receive updates.

I don't think this can be gotten to work without a custom kernel; I can see if I can enable relevant kernel config options for xceed (and also, there is no udev on the Pixel C, so those udev entries can't help there).

Thanks. FYI, here is a link that explains the details when I submitted as a change for ChromeOS.

Also, I meant to ask previously, is there a way for me to run dmesg -wH or the equivalent to see what messages Android is generating when I plug in the USB device? It seems to recognize it when I plug it in via a USB to USB-c adapter since the light on it changes as I would expect it to.

Does the Pixel C have the usb_modeswitch command. That could be an alternate method.

OK, great!
I'll check the kernel for the right drivers, and then I'll modify the init.rc files so that the dongle should be recognized, and make a new post with the kernel image.
But from there on it'd be up to you to test it. You don't really need to root the device, but without the modified kernel it's rather unlikely that this is going to work. Maybe with some app, but I guarantee that it will require root.

The dongle is already being recognized. It shows up when I use the lsusb command. The problem is there needs to be a method of doing the mode switch.

Ooof, not really. I'm really busy at the moment so I have to select a little bit what to do on my kernel (or if anything at all), so, I'm sorry but I'm not sure when exactly I'll get to it

No problem. I decided to return the Pixel C and get the Xperia Z4 Tablet.
Trying to figure out easiest way to put a backup camera in the nexus 7. saw that my webcam works well. saw a usb camera on ebay.
how do people have their backup camera hooked up??
camera in question

im thinking of running a usb directly from the camera to the otg adapter. then when i need it i just push the vcam button. not sure of other ways to do this.

Hi guys,
I would like to know if there's a possibility to display the battery status of a connected Bluetooth device on the Oneplus 3? Natively or via a third party app? Ideally for me, it should work on the stock ROM but if necessary I would flash a custom one if it would only be possible that way.
Thanks in advance :good:

Thanks for the suggestion but it doesn't seem to work with my specific pair of headphones :/ If that means that they don't send battery information to the phone I probably can't get it to work with any solution.

Sorry to hear that.
FWIW after suggesting the app to you, I did try it out. It seemed to work with my pair of blue tooth headphones during the limited time I used it..
Going by the comments about the app in the play store, it looks like the usage is limited based on the manufacturer of the blue tooth device....
Just to close this topic: This feature was released in Open Beta 19 and for me it works great!
how to enable that??? by default its not showing when connected......... im on latest beta

How do you activate it? I have a watch connected and it's not showing anything
I didn't have to activate it. For me it just worked. Your Bluetooth device still has to support sending its battery information to the phone. In this months Open Beta update there were some fixes for this feature. Maybe it works for you now?
Edit: grammar
