Hi folks, i am considering buying this device and looked the whole forum but did not find any info about the battery life ? How long does your 10.1 last with different activities (Browsing, gaming, video and etc.) ?
I had a small 8'' tablet which lasted about 1.5 hours and really hate it. That's why i want to know what i can expect from this device.
Thank you in advance.
Why not change the battery with a more powerful one? Today's battery is so cheap.
The Note doesn't have a user changeable battery... Most tablets don't....
To answer your question, a lot of reviews indicate an average battery time of about 7-12 hours of medium to heavy use. I think I saw somewhere that a video loop test managed around 9-10 hours. 720 p mp4 movie

I posted this in another thread asking about battery life:
I was just in an 8-hour class where I used S-Note extensively. (From 8:30a to 4:30p.) I took around 20 pages of notes. When I wasn't actively taking notes, I was experimenting with the features of S-Note and the tablet in general since it's pretty new to me, as well as browsing the web, Facebook, etc. When the class started my battery was at 83% (I didn't plug it in until very late last night and didn't turn it off while it charged, so it wasn't fully charged when I left home this morning). As of now, over 45 minutes after the class, my battery is at 53%. My screen brightness has been around 25% all day which was plenty bright in a brightly lit room.
We did have a half-hour lunch, and a couple breaks during which the screen was off. But, not too shabby, if you ask me.
I'm finding my battery life to be pretty fantastic.
Depends on what you do with the tablet, if you play games, or use a lot of data, it can drain pretty quickly about 5-6 hours, if you do light stuff like watch videos/take notes/read, it'll probably last 10 hours

I've owned an iPhone 3GS for almost four years now, and it's time to upgrade to something new. I've decided upon the OGP as my new device, but I have some questions about battery life. I've read a few reviews that said although not as good as that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the battery life is still great. Then again, I've also read a few reviews that have said that the battery life is horrid and that LG phones in general seem to use more battery than most while just sitting idle in standby mode. So, it seems to go both ways, depending on which review one reads.
My typical usage is about 90% browsing and reading webpages, and about 10% watching YouTube video, with a bit of music listening thrown in. With the iPhone I had to keep the screen set at about 50% to get me through a day of the above usage. Sometimes, an hour long recharge during lunch would give me battery life until the early evening. I hated having to keep the screen dimmed to 50%, but that's the way it is with that particular phone's power-hungry LCD. For video watching, I max the brightness so as to get as crisp of a picture as the phone is capable of.
I had looked at getting the Note 2, but I didn't care for the AMOLED's lack of whites and lack of brightness (and low resolution) in comparison to my dinosaur iPhone. If I did get that particular phone, I'd have to leave the brightness at max 24/7 although I don't know how that would affect batt life. Either way, the Note 2 screen did not appeal to my eyes, and the one on the OGP along with that of the HTC One were the best I've found in the larger phones.
So, my questions are, what do most people keep their brightness set to on their Optimus G Pro for most of the time, and how much screen time do you really get at that particular brightness level? And, does it seem that a few people have possibly gotten defective batteries? I realize that the G Pro's screen is an LCD with a white backlight on all the time the screen is lit, and probably won't be as efficient as an AMOLED, but with my type of usage (with the screen set to max) what kind of daily battery life can I expect from the OGP?
Well, I don't know if I can give you an estimate based on your exact usage, but let me share with you mine. I have my brightness set to 65% with auto brightness turned on. For me, that is a nice, comfortable viewing level that is easy on the eyes. I love the colors at 100% brightness, but it's almost too bright for me to look at for long times. Anyway, I only use my phone to send text messages and check web sites during the day, but then I play games in the evening (like super stickman golf). I can get through the day easily with 25% remaining when I plug in at bed time. I get about 4 -5 hours of screen on time out of that, so in total I could get about 5-6 hours if I were to drain the battery all the way.
So that doesn't exactly answer your question, but each person's usage is going to be slightly different. It also heavily depends on what you have for apps that are running in the background.
hmm
I'll say this much, screen is responsible for about 50% of your phones battery drain across the board so if 100% brightness is more important than another hour or two of usage time then go for it. This thing should get you a full day even at 100% charge and relatively heavy usage but get comfy with seeing 20 or 30% by early evening. The hardest thing to get used to is remembering that 20% can still mean 2-3 hours of usage and is not an emergency. Another plus of this phone is you can charge about 50% with one hour of charging (or 25% on 15 mins) so as long as you are using a good charger you can juice up in a hurry.
I'm a bit confused here and hope someone can clear it up for me. Some of the reviews are saying the battery life is under eight hours. However the review from Androidpolice is saying he got 22hrs heavy use and with normal use it could be almost 2 days. Can someone tell me what the battery life is really like?
I suspect the shorter times are referring to performance in a battery run down test where a HD video is put on a loop and played until the device dies.
I have only had mine for 2 days and this is not normal use because of downloads etc... but I believe I'm getting 8-10 hours out of the 2014 edition where I was getting 6-8 hours out of last years Note 10.1. I still have last years model as it is going to ebay soon so I know there is an improvement!
I'm hoping it lasts 9-10 hours at least. Coming from an iPad, I have a feeling the battery life will be one of the worst things about android for me.
I'm getting around 8h. battery life
really enough juice for me
Hello, i am a engineering student and i am very happy about my Battery life.
I Use my P-605 to take notes in the university.
For example, on a day with three lectures.
First Lecture, i use LectureNotes to mark something in the PDF scriptum and write down a few notes.
Second and third, creating a whole Entry which causes that the screen is nearly 95% of the 1,5h Lecture active.
After that, driving home with the bus with listening to music and checking facebook and xda.
The Energy saver made was enabled (because it was implemented for Such reasons) and screen on Auto (+0, +1).
After that day, 70%, not bad, or not?
I used some of the tricks mentioned here in an xda threat to increase the Batterytime.

That's about what I get of screen on time.
At this exact moment I'm on pace for about 9 and a half hours with 2 days on time

8-9 hours screen time is what mine gets. This is with a 1 minute time out and 20% brightness. If you use the default 30 second time out and auto brightness, you may be able to squeeze out another hour or so.
Go by screen time and not total uptime. One person's "heavy use" is someone else's "casual". I'll use the Note for 5 or 6 hours straight. That will get me down to 30% or thereabouts. As such, I'll never get 2 days out of it or an iPad.
Playing any type of game, even ones that aren't graphically demanding like clash of clans or plants vs zombies 2 drains the battery very very fast, i could lose 50% in 2-3 hours.
Just about hitting 8 with all the extras disabled and just browsing the web and youtube

depends

it really depends on what you do. i watch movies using plex, browse, play games for about 4 hours a day. i recharge my tablet every 3 days. at the time it still has 20%. also note that when it is in stand by mode it loses some charge
Has anyone got a decent case with a battery in it?
as the nexus 5 does seem to have a not too good battery life.
(considering this device)
Seriously? I'm getting 14 to 16 hours with 6+ hours screen on time. It's not bad if you ask me.

I agree. I'm getting better battery life than any phone I have owned, without rooting and messing with cpu governors, or adding an unwieldy 3000+ mah aftermarket battery.

wow
from what I'v heard in reviews its not great, was about 5 reviews.
hmmm, Ill look into that a bit more
also geekphone.com is showing a not too great battery life
No, your not wrong, the phone is going to have less talk time than some of its larger battery packing competitors given the same use, physics works as they say. I'm on the lookout myself but have yet to see anything.
It could could be a software and hardware thing, as samsung does take a big dump on android. Pure android and especially 4.4 theoretically should have a lower power consumption.
how long does it generally last when mid-heavily used?
I can't comment on battery life, but I can tell you you won't be seeing a battery case. Only 2 products sell enough to make it a reasonable expense to develop: The newest iPhone, and the newest Galaxy S.

I disagree, my DHD had quite a few and it didn't have that many sales (probably less than nexus 5 in a month or so)
I'm getting much better battery life than any previous phones I've had. I can squeeze about two full days out of it with about 3-4 hours of screen on time. If I use it a lot (6+ hours screen on) or do battery heavy tasks (play a lot of games, talk on the phone a lot), then it still lasts a full day (from wake up to sleep). Unless you absolutely abhor charging your phone every night, I don't think it's worth the unnecessary bulk of a battery case.

Is this on stock? I understand that diff configs will have diff results. When I go to bed, I usually have about 40% left with 15 hours run time about and 1 hour of screen time. This is with two gmail accounts syncing, facebook and everything on. It's not bad but nowhere near 6 hours of screen time. Especially if I play a game like Asphalt 8. The battery drops like crazy. Not complaining, but I would love to have 6 hours of screen time.
I contacted Mophie to see if they had plans to make a case for the N5. I just got a pretty generic email back but looked like they would be working on something for the N5.

I didn't make it clear enough in my post, but when I said 6 hours of screen on time or battery heavy tasks, I meant one or the other but not both. If I play games or do a lot of battery heavy tasks,t hen it doesn't last anywhere near two days. I might get 6 hours screen on time if I don't play any games, make no phone calls for the day (which is odd, I do admit), and mostly browse the internet, text, view pictures, check facebook, things of that nature. On average, I get anywhere between 2-4 hours screen on time with usually an hour of gaming, mostly texting, browsing, and other small stuff like that. It usually lasts me 2 days. It's not fantastic battery life, but definitely better than my S3 and my Atrix before that.
EDIT: I didn't use my phone much at all today. I've got about 10 minutes of phone calls and an hour of screen on time, 13 hours total, and I'm sitting at 72%. You might want to check what is using the most battery in your battery settings or download an alternate app. Screen is typically using 2 to 3 times more than the next thing under it (which for me is WiFi).
Hello!
So I got the Note 10.1 but I am not sure if my battery life is good or if it needs to be replaced.
For example first time I tried it it seemed to go from like 50 to warning levels all of the sudden. I know the guy was not using it for a while so I am not sure if it needs a few full charge discharge cycles.
I did a couple and tried playing a bit of Riptide then one movie and a half on youtube and overall made it around 4 hours of usage like that.
I was wondering if you guys have any test or maybe some steps I can recreate to compare my battery life results to yours.
Thanks!
I have up to ten hours surfing the net via wifi, Email, Tapatalk, news apps and only occasional video clips. Lasts even longer when just reading locally stored docs or watching photos. Gaming is of course the worst condition.
Check for some old reviews. Easiest to reproduce would be a gaming session, with a game similarly to that used in some review. Then the battery will probably last 2-4h, if it's still okay.
I haven't seen a thread created for this. So what kind of SOT are you getting per charge? Curious as I have a desktop replacement laptop with a 4790k/980m GPU that still kicks butt up and down but I am considering a chromebook, tab s4 or a thin and light for mobility purposes. Curious to what kind of SOT's possible with this tablet. DEX makes this an enticing product too.
I get really good battery life. Easily between 7-9 hours SOT. obviously depending on what your doing but heavy use will easily last you about a day and a half and light use will easily last 3 or 4 days
I have not checked since but for my first cycle I got a SOT of 10h50m with light at around 60% (a lot of video including HDR).
Guess I will have to wait for more people to buy. Curious how the 7300mah battery, 10.5" display and it being AMOLED play out. Kind of hoping 10h SOT is the norm before even optimizing it with black wallpaper and dark themes.
As I don't charge it above 80% and don't let it drop below 20% I have no idea what's SOT but battery last long enough to me. I do have it as black as possible though, for battery purposes as well as esthetics.
I get from 11 to 12 hours of SOT in a week usage. I charge once a week!
