[Q] Music stops playing after each song (CM 10.1) - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have read through multiple forums, but couldn't find an answer, here is the situation :
- I have ripped my CDs to OGG songs, correctly tagged, playing fine on several PCs (Windows & GNU/Linux), using different software, and my iRiver music player (stock & RockBox firmwares),
- I copied those OGG files on my ext. SD Card (N7105),
- I open Apollo music player (CyanogenMod 10.1),
- it detected the ogg files and they are correctly sorted by artist, album, etc. (it even downloaded the right album pictures)
- I press "play",
- it plays the first song (whichever it is),
- at the end, it displays the name of the 2nd song but doesn't play it
- the player is still in "play" mode, but doesn't play the song, it is stucked,
-> if I press "pause", it pauses and jumps to the next song (the 3rd),
-> if I press "Next", it begins to play the 3rd song,
- after one of the above 2 actions, I press "previous" : it displays the 2nd song and plays it fine !
At the end of that 2nd song, it will jump to the 3d, but does not play it, it seems stucked again, so pressing "next" plays the 4th, then I press "previous" to play the 3rd, etc.
If I press "next" just before the end of each song, it jumps to the next song without ever stoping playing.
I installed Google Music Player, it does exactly the same, but displays an error message when it tries to play the next song "Impossible to play song". But it plays it if I press the "next" then "previous" buttons.
It seems this problem does not appear on non-OGG files (ie MP3), and I have checked that "shuffle" is NOT enabled.
Sometimes it plays 2 songs fine before hanging.
The stock ROM of my Nexus S phone had this problem also, and the stock ROM of my N7105 also, but I used Samsung's music player which didn't have that problem.
So, to solve the problem :
=> do you know of any good music player that :
- will play OGG/MP3/FLAC/etc flawlessly,
- displays a widget on the lock screen and home screen,
- sends infos about the song over bluetooth (my BT sound system displays the song's name if available),
- scans the music collection and sorts songs by artists, albums, etc.
- can play all songs in a folder (untagged/mistagged songs grouped by folders),
- preserves the battery,
- is preferably Open Source and/or GPL and stable,
- has no ads, nor unnecessary authorizations for a simple music player that does all of the above
?
=> Or are there any tricks or hacks or anything to make Apollo play sound files ?
Bye for now,
Dag

Duplicate Songs- Any ideas?

Hi:
I have all my music stored on SD card. I sync it with Windows Media Player. All songs appear normally in Windows Media Player and when I use Files Explorer on Tilt 2 to view the songs on SD card.
My problem is, when I use the music player in TF3D, and look at library/songs, many songs appear twice. The really odd part is that a song may appear once with album art (which all my songs have), and a second instance with no album art.
When I play songs on the music tab in TF3D both instances of the song play. What I mean is, sometimes a song will show with album art, and sometimes the one without album art shows. The same is true if I edit a song title etc through Windows Media Player (I believe it is version 11). A song will show as the pre-edited version sometimes, other times it shows the edited version.
Any ideas? This is really driving me nuts.
Thanks!
I have a similar problem - but possibly the opposite to yours.
I have approx. 15Gb of music on the MicroSD on my TP2, and regularly use Windows Media Player to sync new music to the phone. However, Windows Media Player appears to sync ALL the music BACK to the PC as well - meaning I have each song duplicated on the PC (sometimes many times), which is rapidly filling up my hard drive unless I periodically manually delete all duplicates (which is painful).
I'm sure there must be a setting within Windows Media Player to stop this happening - but I still want to be able to sync music TO the phone (just not back).
Has anyone else encountered this issue or know a solution?

Galaxy Nexus Desktop Dock Incoming call

Hi All
Does anyone else here use the desktop dock to listen to music? I do at work with a headphone amp - it works great.
There are a couple of annoying points though. Firstly if you lift the phone out of the dock whilst music is playing it doesn't pause the music it just plays it out loud from the phone speaker - not good in a quiet office.
Similarly if a call comes in when you have finished the call the music that was playing before you took the call starts playing when you hang up. What's even more annoying is that the play music app is not listed in the notification field to easily pause it, you need to re-launch it then get the now playign screen up and then pause it - all whilst your music is played out lous for the whole office to hear.
VERY ANNOYING
Any way round this? I hope they fix these bugs soon.
Use a better music player app?
Player Pro, N7Player, Winamp, etc... Any player that has lots of docking and bluetooth options. Just check the ones you want.
Example: i only have one play/pause button on my headphones, so i binded it that way:
1 click: Play/Pause
2 click: Next Song
3 click: Previous Song

This is using the Google Music app so I can play my music from the cloud. I've not tried it with Spotify (the only other app I use for music) but I am pretty sure it'll do the same thing. I'll try it next time I'm in the office though.

[Q] why aren't my playlists showing in Music Player

everything was working just fine until today when i go to play a specific playlist. i use it as my mp3 from time to time, and my playlists, created and transferred onto the ext microSD using windows media player, have always shown up. that is until today, when i go to play a specific playlist, and the only selectable i see under the playlist tab is Quick List, which when i select, shows no recent music played . I turn the phone off, then on again, but it doesn't help.
HOWEVER, all my music shows up under the All Music tab, it shows my seperate albums in the Albums sections, same thing for artist, genres, etc, and all my music is playing just fine too. what can the problem be?
Phone - tmo samsung galaxy note 2 running the latest update, completely stock (no root, etc)

[Q] Google Music doesn't queue songs or adds songs to playlists when offline

I am experiencing several bugs. First - I can't create playlists when I'm offline. If I go to a pinned playlists and try to choose any song and put it in any other playlist, it says that 0 tracks were added. Another issue (and it seems related) I CANNOT QUEUE any song! It just doesn't do anything! Everything works fine online. What do I do?

How do I force set a default music player on my 5X?

I have DoubleTwist (for syncing to my PC) and BlackPlayer (for actually playing music) installed and would like to set BlackPlayer as my default music player. However, whenever I go to Apps > Configure Apps > Default apps, the only four lines I see are:
Browser App: Chrome
Phone App: Phone
SMS App: Textra
Could be a side effect of the new Marshmallow philosophy of "only ask for something (e.g. permissions) when needed, as there's no option to create a new default.
But I even opened an mp3 file from my downloads folder, got the prompt to select a music player, checked off "BlackPlayer" and "always" instead of "just once", and the Default Apps screen didn't change. Also, when I try to open a file manually, BlackPlayer says "Error loading track!" - though this may be a separate issue.
This is a problem, because I cannot start music playback with the screen locked most of the time (sometimes it works, but usually not) using my aux cord, which has inline volume and playback controls. If I try to use OK Google to play music, it says "you don't have a default app selected for playing music, please choose one on the screen at your convenience". But when I open the screen, there's no list of options, and if I say "play music" again it just brings up a search box showing search results for the Play Music app.
This is really starting to get on my nerves that I can't use the cord I bought with controls without first opening my phone and starting music playback manually. Anyone know how to force Marshmallow to automatically play from a specific app using controls?
