So I've never really found any third party messaging apps that I thought were worth the time of installing and setting up, but 8sms looks/feels really good to me so far. My problem is trying to find the LS970 MMSC, MMS port, and MMS proxy settings to get my mms working again after freezing the stock app. If somebody would post up some settings that have worked for you I would appreciate it in a big way!
Thx everyone

To my knowledge, there is currently no way to fix MMS for 3rd party apps on this phone. You can check other devices to see how they got MMS working on their 3rd party apps, like the Galaxy S3, Moto Photon, etc.

This might get you started in the right direction... Good luck brother.

Is there a way to make the stock sms app work on just Wi-Fi? I no longer have data service and I miss that themed app. Goggle Voice works but it's butt ugly.
I'm on cm10.1 and the latest epic nitest kernel.

You would think this is possible

Theres always text+

I was hoping there was a setting or something. I mean the native messaging app is all themed out and I hate the fact it won't work over WiFi. Google voice does and so do others...
Thanks for the reply though, I'll take a look at text+

Yes all these programs run through internet data rather than the old school cellular radio which SMS unfortunately is. Sorry dude, but text+ is your best shot.

Hi I flashed my phone today to cricket wireless. Everything seems to work fine faster than sprints 3g speeds tell you that. But my problem is I cant watch YouTube videos on 3G. When I was on the s3 I found the solution to be an app that let me change the streaming settings to 0.0.0.0 instead of sprint. Cant get it to work on my note 2. Also mms either. Can someone help me out please? Thanks alot

I would google "cricket wireless apn settings", to get your mms working.
It looks like you also need to set your mmsc to:

Bump

Every time I try to send a group message, the app changes the recipients to anonymous and I get the replies in each individual sender's thread, so therefore no group messaging. I'm not going to install a different messaging app from the play store as I'd like to stay with the stock one. Any ideas?

Sorry, no group messaging available. There are some modded mms apps in themes and apps. I think maybe one will have the kind of mods you want, can't remember for sure though.

Thanks for the reply! In addition, has anyone tried porting the s4 messaging app?

Is anyone else having mms problems with JM16? I can't post in the developer thread yet.
A little more details would be nice.

When trying to send a picture through messaging it will hold a for a very long time and then say unable to send.

Okay I figured it out. It was a problem for the receiver. Love Jedi ROMS.

I received the hangouts 2.0 update last night via the play store. I noticed that it can't receive or send pics.
Anyone else having this issue? Is there a fix or is this a google thing?
Sent from my phone.
Its an issue when you're on the stock ROM but it works fine on a custom Rom
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
That's too bad as I'm fine with the stock ROM. It has a custom kernel though. Hopefully they fix it as I'm enjoying using hangouts for sms right now.

Still not working after an update and I'm running Beanstalk 4.4
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
I haven't used it in a month. Send and receive enough pics that it was an issue. I did the update but still haven't tried yet. Maybe later I will just to test on a stock ROM.

Make sure you have it set as the SMS app in the hangouts settings menu. I was baffled by it for a minute until I caught it.
Edit: Misread MMS for SMS, my fault
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
It works for me now. Just takes longer than sending one through the regular messaging app.
