[Q] Phone APP draining battery? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there! For some reason my phone app is draining my battery. Even when I'm not using it is sometimes taking up to 30% of the battery. Anyone know what the problem might be? I'm on OMEGA ROM, latest modem, stock kernel.

Battery drain even when arc is turned off

Hi
since a few time my arc s is draining battery in airplane mode at night (20-30%). I am using Arconium 3c.
- So I tried to come back to Arconium 2.4 (it was ok before) : the same (20-30%)
- So I tried to turn off the phone and the same : the battery lost about 20% during the night.
The battery drain used to be great in airplane mode (2-3% per night) few months ago when I started using arconium. So I don't think it is because of this rom.
Maybe my battery is bad? Or something else?
How old is the phone
In wich interval you recharg it
Check out the battery usage under settings and look if you have installed any program that uses much energy from ur battery
I think the easiest way is to try the other ROM first. If this problem still occur, maybe you have to check your battery
I also had that problem but with this stay good:
Use this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680793
Use this Baseband
http://puu.sh/pAgX
Use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.sineo.android.noFrillsCPU
For me is the best option
Well, thank for your answers. So the phone is 6 months old and I don't understand why if I change my ROM or my kernel it would do anything? Because the battery drain occurs even if my phone is off. Is there a way to check is my battery is damaged?
Tonight I will try to remove the battery for the night.
PS: I checked that I have no weird application that is draining battery...
jap check what happens if you put the battery out for a night
but you should even check the other kernel

Well, I am back to Arconium 2.4 (with .562 firmware) so the other kernel would not work correctly as it is for 4.1.B.0.431, would it?
I guess I should try .431 based kernel if I come back to Arconium 3c.
I have tried battery mix to check if there were an app draining my battery when phone is truned on but nothing (appart from system android) seem to consumes much battery.
Ok
well but if you really want to know what i think i would say (not assure) that it depends on the rom cus some time ago i had a2 different phones (galaxy spica and galaxy gio) wich i flashed to spicagenmod and the gio to cm7 and i recognized that the battery usage increased in a huge amount
u say that even if you turn of the phone it seems to be that you get a loss of power in your battery
the spica often crashed and i had to restart it (used many experimental features)and after the restart i had a huge los of batery power....
some roms have problems updating you the current battery status and if you restart it it seems that it had taken much battery
if you really want to safe power you may search for a undervolted kernel
Hope that really finished ur problem =)
Ok I think I understand what you mean about the voltage. ie at 100% the voltage is about 4178mv and now at 41% the voltage is 3775mv (with battery calibration app). So it seems to be not linear.
So I am going to flash kernel as recommended previously. And Do I have to reflash rom and baseband after flashing new kernel?
depends on wheather the kernel works with ur rom
what do you mean? I flash new kernel, reboot phone and if it does not work, I Reflash the rom? Maybe it risks to brick?

I dont think that there is any risk and thats what i meant flash kernel check if it works if not reflash rom =)
Download betterybatterystats and see what is causing the drain, think iridika did a thread a while ago, lemme find it for you
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433309
Check what is causing the drain using that
I dont't think it would work when phoen is turned off..
And I am trying to flash kernel with flash tool and it does not seem to work, it is like I still got the previous kernel... any idea?
did u enter fastboot mode? did u get any error while flashing?
Yes, everything seems to work fine. Maybe I don't know where to check my kernel version.
go to settings..about phone...check about kernel.

Just an FYI
0% on the lithium battery is not 0v it is more like 3v or so... depends on the battery.
if a lithium battery measures 0v it is DEAD.

So I try this app and it appears that com.sonyericsson.android.server.dormant is guilty... about 2500 alarm wake up in 1h. so I used titanium backup to freeze fast dormancy...
But it does not solve my problem about battery drain when phone is turned off

As said earlier full charge the phone remove the battery and leave it out when you would normaly have it off to see if it is the battery or phone.

[Q] about my battery consumption

Hey everyone! I just got my note 2 and im just new to these kind of stuff. So here it goes. I heard that flashing a custom rom can help save/conserve battery. So i rooted my phone and flashed omega rom. I also flashed pegasus kernel on the rom and decresed the cpu frequency to 1000MHz. The thing is my battery consumption is just the same with my stock rom. Is there a problem with my battery? Or im doing something wrong?
The battery on note 2 just doesn't needs to be improved.
If you are still wanting to just disable gps wifi 3g and other Internet and location stuff.
Use deep sleep app from store

Everything is already off. I think its already okay atm.. Ive compared pegasus with other kernels and pegasus gives me more battery time.

[Q] Rom/Kernel issue OR Battery?

Hi all
After sitting with my stock SGS4 (i9505) for a few months I decided to root (as i had my N7000 and HTC Desire).
About the same time as this my phone began turning off seemingly randomly. At first i thought this may be a ROM/Kernel issue but I have tried a couple including Stock(rooted), Carbon and the GooglePlay Rom. The same thing happens for all of them.
Once off, the phone boots to splash screen then turns off. This cycles. I remove the battery and the phone will turn on, sometimes showing a SIGNIFICANT apparent drop in battery (90% reduces to 3% during this single on/off cycle). A quick charge and restart will often cause the rebooted phone to read the battery at 90% again.
The battery does appear slightly swollen and i'm curious if anyone could shed any light on:
1) does this seem a battery / firmware issue and
2) any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
Currently: GooglePlay Rom 4.2.2 PhilZTouch Recovery
Regards
Warnoceros
If you're saying the battery is "swollen" it probably is a battery issue IMO. Especially if you're having problems on every ROM you've tried.
Have you tried going back to stock to see if it's still happening?
Hi
Thanks for replying. I'm downloading stock now so will report in the morning.

Bad battery.

Hi,
So, went back to stock (binary counter has moved up unfortunately - didnt read into that before hand). Was still rebooting. Have replaced battery and this seems to have done the trick for the time being. I noticed that the unit did not reset until my google accout restored apps to the phone so there is still a chance it was a bad app i suppose.
Most likely the battery though
Thanks

[4.4.2] Kernel to fix battery drain.

Hi all
Updating to KitKat my s4 Mini i got a terrible battery drain, my phone becomes hot and draining fastly with connection data on.
I switch to the S5 Proyect Rom, with BrisK kernel, and the problem is partially solved, but sometimes the phone becomes really hot and loose a lot of battery percent.
I can use another kernel on my rom (i've never flash a kernel, i suppose to making this flashing it on Odin, right?) to fix the battery drain?
--
just use App Opp, Wakelock Detector, BetterBattery Stats... it's not made by an app this battery drain, i think is related to the network management
Try another rom, like Cm12 lollipop and f4k pre4 kernel

Phone app draining battery after Nougat update

Has anyone else noticed that the phone App is draining the battery? Even if I just open the Phone app to look at a contact and leave it on that screen, the phone gets really hot and goes through about 20% of the battery in an hour.

Are you stock or on a custom rom? Did you install a different kernel?
Everything stock, received OTA update. This happened twice already.
