"Can't connect to camera." - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Before everyone yells at me and tells me to read some other threads that might have worked for them, I would like to start off by saying I'm new to this phone, but I have done my research. I recently moved from a Nexus 4, and the phone is great but the thing I've been having a problem with is the camera. My camera and phone firmware version for the camera is ZDFF03 and every time I flash to another rom (data wipe + system format + cache wipe) everything works except for the camera. I get an error prompt returning the message "Can't connect to camera." I have spent the entire previous day on XDA looking for a fix that works for me including CWR flashable .zips, updating camera firmware from samsung dialer, and changing photo save to SD card. No fix I have found has worked for me yet. If anybody could provide me with a solution I would be very grateful. I have the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 (i747) running official Samsung software version 4.1.2 and build number JZO54K.747XXXXXX. Also I may add that the camera works perfectly on stock ROM, but as soon as I am on a custom ROM it hits the fan.
EDIT: FIXED THE CAMERA ERROR. DOWNLOAD ODIN AND STOCK ICS TOUCHWIZ SHIPPING IMAGE FOR GS3 I747. FLASH THE ICS STOCK ROM THROUGH ODIN AND THEN UPDATE TO ROM OF CHOICE WITHOUT UPDATING TO STOCK FW 4.1.2. CAMERA SHOULD WORK PERFECTLY.

[Q] Flashed ROM to 4.3, Nandroid back to 4.1.1, now no camera.

Help, I brokeded my phone trying to use this ROM!
I recently tried to flash the 4.3 Stock MOD ROM to my ATT S3. It wasn't smooth for me so I Nandroided back to 4.1.1. and now my camera does not work and I get an error that says "Cant connect to the Camera" or "Camera failed" depending if I use the Jelly Bean Camera or the Samsung camera.
No fault of the ROM I’m sure but I need help figuring out what I’ve done wrong. I switched back to my Nandroid backup of 4.1.1 Stock because 4.3 was just NO smooth for me. Also I can’t stand regular keyboard, I need my Samsung Note 2 keyboard!
4.3 had a lot of laggy-ness and random crashing. I flashed the Modem, ROM and Kernel in the order with the steps listed per the OP.
When I decided to go back to my backup, I flashed the DLK3 Stock Modem, then flashed back to my backup and wipe the various caches.
Everything about my backup works BUT my camera. I also noticed I can’t use the flashlight option on my 4.1.1 ROM now. Anything related to the camera is broken.
I’ve tried killing and clearing the camera process per several articles I found on Google and here on XDA without luck. Everything suggested it was a hardware issue at that point and to warranty the phone. I deiced to try 4.3 one more time and sure enough, my camera works when flash back to Anroid 4.3 ROM.
I’m stumped.
Any thoughts sort of reinstalling 4.1.1 from scratch?

You have to have the bootloaders for 4.1.1 for the camera to work in 4.1.1. This happened to me a while back with 4.1.2. There's a thread here somewhere where you can download the correct bootloaders and flash with ODIN.
EDIT: Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2321310
You need the DLK3 bootloaders (well, that is if you have the AT&T gs3) for the camera to work.

[Q] Unfortunately, camera has stopped responding (4.4.2)

Hi,
I was previously using LiquidSmooth's ROM (Android 4.3). My camera was working fine until one day it started to bug out on me. I am able to use the front camera fine. However, I was unable to use the rear camera, getting a black screen and saying "Gallery has stopped responding". I googled some solutions and tried transferring all my pictures onto my laptop and deleted it off the memory. Unfortunately, it still did not work. I flashed Paranoid Android's 4.4.2 ROM (Dec 26) and GAPPS 4.4.2 (Dec 15) and now the error message I am getting is "Unfortunately, CAMERA has stopped responding" (bold for the difference between previous error). Help please? :fingers-crossed:
Sounds like there may be corrupt firmware was flashed for the camera at some point. I believe, flashing Stock firmware should clear it.
If you had already flashed Stock 4.3 Firmware (UVDUEJ ) then flash that again. If you had UVDMD5 before all this then re-flash that one.

Sorry for the late reply. I used ODIN and flashed the stock firmware. However, opening the camera now just says "Camera failed". Previously, I was able to use the front camera in apps like Snapchat but now the front camera does not work either. Both cameras just display a black screen.

[Q] Camera won't work after going back to stock

Hey All,
I have the ATT S3 variant, and for the longest time I was running a TW based rom that was made from a galaxy note rom and supported multiview.I decided to flash my phone back to LK3 stock and now my camera won't work. Ive tried wiping the cache and doing a factory reset. I've tried the reinstall a couple of times. Out of curiosity, I flashed CM10.2 and the camera worked fine. I Once again tried flashing the stock rom, but the issue still persists. Whenever I open up the camera app I get the error "Camera Failed". I tried typing in the code to get the camera firmware version, but it just shows a black screen. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

[Q] Camera stopped with cm update

Hi,
last week i updated my cyanogenmmod to 20140526 and had some bigger Problems with the Dialer. I was not able to call someone. Every time the idcallerui crashed.
Because of this i tried some different roms like Paranodid or older cm roms. Now i dont have this Problem with the dialer but now my camera doesnt work any more. If i try to open the camera it stopps. Before i installed a new rom i always did a full wipe in the recovery mode.
I tried different gapps from paranoid, cm, mini or stock but nothng fixes my camera.
I dont want to send it back to samsung to get this fixed because i have to wait to long for my phone.
What did i do wrong? False Gapps for galaxy nexus?
What combination of rom and gapps can u recommend?
i now have flashed my device back to complete stock rom. But the problem still exists. when i try to open the camera app it stoppes.
i tried a app called facecam and there i get the error :"Failed to connect to camera service"
Should i send it to Samsung? I still have 3 Weeks Waranty
how can i see if it is definitly stock and samsung cant see that i had root and a diferent rom?

2 things!
1* You front facing camera needs to be replaced
2* Send it to Samsung like it is they do not care if the phone is locked, rooted, or a custom rom.
Trust me I've done it myself!

[Q] One problem or another

I am trying to find a fully functional rom. I have tried numerous roms and run into 2 or 3 of the same problems. What I need is working ? . Working Wifi. Working Camera. And working GPS. Most of the roms have given me a problem with the camera. For instance, I take a picture in a dark place and when the flash goes off I get a black screen and there is no display I am forced to pull battery as the phone will not reboot after. I have not had wifi or bluetooth problems in a long time so I can not comment on that. I recently tried Liquid Smooth's 4.4 rom and the camera works, however GPS will not work unless connected to WIFI which does me no good if it won't navigate. Has anyone found a rom out there that is fully functional? I do not have service on my device, which is d2spr by the way, so mobile data and 4g are not needed. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
If you want fully functional with no additional stuff except what you want, just use stock odex, latest firmware is NJ2, If stock untouched is giving you problems then you may have a messed up internal memory or something.
Wicked S5
Phone is Completely Screwed
So i flashed a MK5 Modem on my L710t due to the fact that my wifi and data were not working ... I though it would fix this ... before that on some roms, the wifi would work, but the data didn't ... and vice versa with other roms ... Carbon and LiquidSmooth to be specific. I can't seem to fix it .. so i tried Unrooting back to all stock everything ... and no matter what tar file i use i get a FAIL in Odin ... i tried three tar files and even tried the 1-click.exe. got an EPIC FAIL ... i tried flashing a stock MK5 deodexed rom because i had flashed a MK5 modem and the damned rom wouldn't boot ... I really just want to revert to a stock Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy S III with 4.4.2 and an N8 Modem or whatever modem it came out of the box with ... CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME ...
please and thanks
Thanks. It was a pain in the butt to get it installed as I had to update to ND8 but I think this is is quite functional and what I was hoping for will see in a few days how the system reacts but so far the camera works and i am bout to test gps. So thank you for recommending the Wicked S5.
