As most of you already know, the BBM app has been released for Android and iOS and I tought of creating a group for chatting, discussions and faster Q&A for anyone who wants to. If you need a fast answer, without having to wait for a reply here in the forum, about anything of the Sony Xperia S (aka "Nozomi") or about similar devices, I'll be glad to help at anytime, and I hope everybody who joins the group and knows how to help who is in need, do the same.
For those who doesn't have the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bbm
For those who want to join the group:

With the increasingly large number of BBM threads being created throughout XDA on a regular basis, the Moderation Team assigned to this group of forums has decided that it's simply not feasible to allow it to continue any further. Since BBM groups are more of a social group rather than a discussion about a particular device, they are not appropriate for a device specific forum such as this one, and in the interest of keeping the forums clean we have decided to close all BBM threads in our assigned device specific forums.
Having said that, there are options still available to users that require the use of BBM groups as a medium for communication:
1) You may post your PINs, group info, etc., in the BBM for Android located in XDA General.
2) You can send your info through a private message to the OPs of existing BBM group threads.
3) You can include your PIN, QR code, or group info in your signature.
Since BBM groups are a relatively new topic on XDA, it is still possible that certain accomodations could be made sometime in the future depending on the overall need. Until then, the decision to close all BBM threads in our area will remain in effect so we appreciate your understanding and cooperation on the matter.
Thank you

So I can browse redtube AND stay updated?!
This is great. Thank you. But why does it need access to so much information? (such as location, history, etc.)

I'm sorry, I don't have the Note, so I have no idea what this is. Does this become part of the browser, or is it just an app?

It for your computer, not your phone. It's a toolbar so that you can stay updated with the forums while on another webpage.

If you have a problem, how can anyone help, when they don't know, what phone you got, what ROM, What Kernel is installed, what caused the current problem and what you had done to solve it.
All these matters, for an XDA member to even THINK of helping you and they might just ignore, since you could not be bothered to provide the details. Most of all specific phones have specific forums and you should first use the search for that forum or look in the WIKI for that particular Phone, Imagine some one gave you an answer meant for a another phone that is not similar to yours, you could end up spending a lot of time and money trying to recover it. So be wise and do your part, search for your phone in this forum and post it there after you have tried searching for the answers you are seeking in that specific forum.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

If you are using XDA App or Tapatalk, long press on the post and select :good: Thanks Its easier to give "Feedback" in this manner than make an additional post.
I'm suggesting to open threads in correct sections and explain the situation thoroughly.
Thread closed.
I am thinking of starting an app for my college. Pretty much I want the app for it to have users or students in this case register make a username and password and then just for it to be forum kind of style where users can create threads and also for it to have a messaging system incase someone is selling a book both users can communicate with each other. the thing is i have no idea where to begin if anyone can show me a step by step or just a summuray on what to do to make this.

Buy domain from namecheap, hosting from dreamhost. Use phpbb as forum software (completely FREE) or vBulletin. Start a web forum, install Tapatalk plugin. Share link.
Tada! No programming at all.

This may sound like a good solution but it becomes complex for the user when they have to use forum software. I am not sure you have can limit functionality with Tapatalk. OP is trying to create an application that is simple and includes his/colleges branding. Another problem is using Tapatalk since it's a generic application and you can't rebrand it for his college or niche group. I know it looks like OP is trying to redesign the wheel but I think he's trying to do it in a way that makes it more efficient and, in a way, more useful for users.
@OP
I am quite new to Android dev and I learning by using "Google: Android developer basics" (I can't post links since I have < 10 posts) I am not sure if it's the best way but I think it would be a good place to start.
Quick one please. Which hosting provider did you choose here if I may ask?

I could find no other answers to this question except one in a Samnsung Galaxy thread, and that didn't help.
I did notice there was one other question on this topic... But it was submitted by me almost 8 months ago. In response to that post, I received a response similar to one you would expect from a bloated government—a moderator instructing me—not a brief sentence as to what should be a simple answer—but instructions on how to create more post clutter.
OK.... So how do I subscribe to a forum using the website??? It is very easy and intuitive on the mobile app.
Here is a screenshot of my screen in Google Chrome.
http://imgur.com/yt3OLnh
I must be blind, but I can find nothing.... under any option or tab or anywhere (at least not obvious in any way) on how to subscribe to the forum I am in.
One suggestion if I may... since this data is so easily discoverable in the mobile app (it shows me what forums I am subscribed to), can't you take that data for that user and apply it to the website???? It would seem very logical and efficient.
Please advise....and I am hoping I can find my way back here....
@syntropic,
Since I use the XDA 2013 Beta - 1024 theme, these instructions use it.
To subscribe to a thread, first, scroll down to the bottom of any XDA page and click on the Style Chooser found in the left-hand corner. Click "XDA 2013 Beta - 1024". Now, navigate to the thread to which you would like to subscribe, and look for the "Subscribe to thread" button as shown in this screenshot:

Click the subscribe to forum button
Thanks, I see it on the general forum. However it's not enabled on every subforum, such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lg-leon/lg-leon. Our only option is using the RSS feed in the pages source code. Subforums without the "subscribe" button also do not have their own rss feed.
I also tried to modify the subscribe link but it goes to a different subforum. 1507 is the lg leon forum id, but this shows something else:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php?do=addsubscription&f=1507
It looks like our only option is page2rss.com. This has me wondering if vbulletin gets paid a fee for every rss feed and subscribe button.
Hey,
why do registered users still have to enter these captchas?

They are incredible hard and it takes me at least 6 tries to get it right... ;-(
Hint: the above solution was NOT correct!
Furthermore even when you want to PREVIEW your post you have to verify and then AGAIN for posting or previewing - this is ridiculous and really a PITA!

Registered users only have to enter CAPTCHA codes before posting until they reach 10 posts. After that, the requirement is removed.
The CAPTCHAs exist to keep bot accounts from posting spam junk as soon as they are created. The "10 post rule" is what keeps down the spam.
And lastly, the reason the CAPTCHAs are rather difficult is because bots are getting smarter in terms of reading and solving CAPTCHA codes, so if they are made harder to read, that will also cut down on spam.
I hope this explains things for you!

Aha, ok at least there is hope (once I reached 10 posts), because posting now really take some nerves...
Maybe it could be reduced to 8 posts or so?
And yeah I know spam is annyoing.
Thanks for the explanation.
