Hi! Anyone hop on the bbm train?? LOL
On 4.3 I get no notification sounds.....but on 4.1.2 its fine.
Anyone using it? On 4.3?
I'm on Beanstalk to be specific.
Thanks!

Still in line to get my activation code, lol. I'll let you know if I get notification sounds on 4.3 once I'm in.
The best part of it all, check the reviews for it on the play store
I'm going to try another 4.3 rom....to see if there's any difference. If not, back to stock again. LOL. Been primarily on stock since it came out.....cause relied on Voxer ....and on anything other that stock.....notifications were very unreliable. Hoped bbm would solve that. Notification works fine, but no sound isn't gonna work.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
So I'm in on BBM now. Tried it on my PsiRom, which is 4.3.1, and no notification sounds. Vibration for the notifications from it work but no sound no matter what I set the ringtone to. You can turn vibration on from the settings menu inside BBM, which is better than nothing, I guess.
I was on PA and only the BBM default sound worked....but no other sounds. Weird. But, now I'm on Jedi....touchwiz....and any sound works. Voxer only ever worked completely right on 4.1.2 also. Guess that just comes with the territory using android versions not officially made for our phone.
Well for me....I need BBM....switched from Voxer, so I'm gonna forever be stuck on 4.1.2 it looks like. LOL
Until Xmas, when I get my N4.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
That is odd. But yeah, there are bound to be some bugs in android versions not officially supported. And Nexus 5 is right around the corner
I'm good with the n4 for my needs....and will be cheaper than n5.
PA is not cm based....correct?? So it seems 2 known cm based roms have no bbm sound....and PA only the default sound works. Its too quiet for me tho. Had to flash 4.1.2 for all the sound files to be available.
Haven't tried 4.2.2.....but probably won't bother. Anyone else have any luck on 4.2.2 with bbm sound?

I'm running newest beanstalk with the same notification problem. I wonder if its a problem with 4.3 and not so much our phones. I'm using it on a i727 skyrocket. Haven't tried it on my note 3 yet tho.
Not sure, but the only way bbm works 100 percent for me is on touchwiz. Which I usually run anyway....but would be nice if it ram on our aosp roms. Properly anyway. Not sure our devs can do anything....4.2.2 and up weren't designed for our device.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Just thought I'd update and say that BBM's notification noise suddenly works for me on 4.3. On the today's version of my PsiRom, which uses the latest cm nightly as a base.
Well, it seems some 4.3 ROMs bbm will only vibrate, and some will only play the bbm tone...which to me is too quiet. Lol
Stuck on 4.1.2. I use bbm more than messaging. Grrrrr.

Hello I just wanted to know if there is a fix for the out going audio on google talk or google plus hangouts. Incoming and out going video and in coming audio work fine but the person on the other end can't hear me. Is anyone else having this issue.
I'm running AOKP JB 4.1.1
AOKP version: aokp_hercules_jb-Aug-29-12
Please let me know if there is a fix out there.
Flashed CM 10 same issue. Found a zip file that offered a fix for a different phone but bit wouldn't install.

Did you find a fix for this issue??
Could it be the gapps?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
I think it is the gapps. I travel out of town and tried video chat tango and didn't work. Tried Google video chat it worked but she couldn't hear me and it's a bit glitchy and I had a small sod and my phone rebooted. On AOKP new nightly. Really wish there was a fix for this.

it's actually CM/AOKP that can't seem to make a 4.2.2 rom that works with gapps at the moment, give them time to sort it out, the apps are fine!
I've tried the gapps all the way back to the ...429 build for 4.0.3 and they are all broke, I even tried pulling the 4.2.2 gapps from nexus and they don't work either so it's in the cm/aokp builds...

I was afraid of that. I hope they fix it soon cause I'm missing aokp something fierce! My girl has been calling me nonstop since I changed ROMs and went off aokp just to be able to talk to her. Thinking about flashing while she is at work. My luck she'd call me on it on her break LOL

cm10 is a different animal from 10.1 I am pretty sure talk worked fine on the 10 builds of apkp too...
I am almost tempted to flash cm 10.1 and see if talk works on it but I am having such a nice time on EMBRYO with nearly every little aspect of the phone working well that I can't seem to bring myself to do it...

My wife's phone is on 4.1.2 (Slimbean) and hers works, though it's with Hangouts now. I try to chat on my 4.2.2 (Slimbean as well) and there's no audio coming to her. I can hear everyone, but nobody can hear me.
So in my limited test, it does seem to be 4.2.2 at this point.
Having the same issues here. Running Slim 4.2.2. Is there ANYTHING that we can change to fix this on our end.

I've been searching everywhere, and even trying other roms. I think this is a 4.2.2 thing and I can't tell if it's even on the radar as a bug. Has anyone figured anything out?

Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Has anyone else noticed this? I've tried LiquidSmooth RC8, the latests Paranoid Android, and the newest SlimROM. They all must be based off the same ROM, because audio quality is equally horrendous. I notice that in the Settings > Sound that there is an option to select between MusicFX and DSPManager. However, none of these applications seem to have any affect over the audio, whatsoever. I am surprised that the BASE audio wouldn't be the same as every other ROM. Shouldn't these EQ/DSP add-ons just allow you to modify the stock flat-EQ? Most people would probably want a flat EQ anyways, because their audio ends up on the car stereo, or some other device that already has these controls.
With that said, are you guys noticing the same thing? I absolutely cannot get Pandora or Spotify (haven't tried any others because I don't care,) on these new ROMs. I hope this isn't what the latest CM10 offers, because I am about to flash to that now.
Oh man, I just loaded up the latest CM10 stable and it has the same problem... At least DSPManager can modify the EQ for the entire system, not app-specific. Even still, it sounds nowhere near as good as it did before. While I'm flashing my phone I am playing feeding the same Beacon "The Phoenix" audio cube on my desk with my Transformer TF300T and it is shaking the whole surface with bass, and sounds very full. I played with all the EQ settings, and went manual and got nothing remotely close using my S3 with these ROMs.
Just restored my CM10 11/7/2012 nightly and it has flawless audio over bluetooth--but other issues like missed calls, etc
You silly op you.that's backwards dspmgr is simply part of the general aosp experience and all aosp roms recently developed that bug
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I dug through quite a view AOSP-based ROM threads and could not find anything. I don't understand how anyone could possibly use these ROMs with that horrifying bug?
Freeze or uninstall DSPmanager then install a new audio engine (I use team AC!D's), problem solved.
EDIT: I've never had that happen before but I always freeze that app and I've been using AC!D audio mod since the beta for this phone.

I don't have issues over wire, but Bluetooth is borked in aosp. Due to the transition to 4.2 don't expect quick fixes so.... I moved to a tw rom mainly because of bt and ril related battery drain.......
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Is this supposed to be a 'feature?' If so? They should remove DSPManager and let us decide. I would always prefer some flat EQ so that I can process it elsewhere.
I have 2 sg3's one Jelly Bombed and one CM10 based. Side by side TW BT sounds better. 1 fix for CM10 is after starting BT audio go to your phone and make a call (I just dial 123) then hang up as soon as it connects. Viola, bass is back and audio is tolerable... hope this helps you out

I have been using various TW based ICS Roms for sometime. Darkside, Infamous, etc. I have been so excited to use Jelly Bean and try out project "Butter" I notice there is an official stable release for Cynogen mod 10. Is it time to flash? I get anxiuos about it because I delt with an old HTC HD2 for a year and there were lots of "work arounds" and such. It became rather annoying. So I really like BLN notifications, and having a camera that "Just Works" and decent battery life etc. Are these things I am going to sacrifice. And also, if I wait until there is an official release of JellyBean for our device over the next couple of months would we see more stable builds shortly thereafter? Would it be worth waiting another month or two? or is time for JellyBean? Just curious what folks thoughts are about this? Who is using what? How it works etc? I am really looking for a DD something I can be happy with awhile. I can always just do a Nandroid and hope for the best I guess lol. Thanks for any input!

Definitely try CM10!!
You will fall in love.
I know exactly what you are saying about being hesitant because you want something that just works, without a bunch of additional issues to fix.
I always seem to find problems with other other roms that push me into looking for something else, NOT HERE!
CM10 is just so polished, It even fixes things that didn't work in any TW rom for me such as being able to send / receive MMS while connected to wifi.
It even has BLN built in and activated from the start.
I must say that CM10 + T989 = THE BEST phone experience I have EVER had with any phone.
I was getting so sick of going through so many wrongs, always to end up having to settle with some negative.
Everything just works with CM10 on our phone, and works well at that.
I finally dove in with the nightly CM10 builds about 2 months ago and now the official CM10 release.
Not a single lock up, force close, reboot, glitch or problem here in the last 2 months.
Battery life is really good, phone is smooth and fast, and most importantly it's super functional.
Everything works so much better for me than with any of the TW roms.
I love how CM10 is minimalistic and fast, yet has so many functional improvements and additions.
In my opinion it is hands down the best rom for our phone.
I think the fact that there is an entire team of developers working on CM is what makes it so good, it's not just dependent on one person like most roms.
Flash CM10... fall in love with your phone all over again!!
And after you flash CM10, flash this GAPPS http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
I haven't had any problems whatsoever.

With how easy it is to do a backup/restore of phone these days, I find it easiest just to backup what I have and dive in to a new rom because the worst case is that you have to spend 5 minutes for it to restore if you don't like the new rom. Good luck! Hope you enjoy it!

So I did it ! ! ! ! I like it so far. The aesthetics are very nice and I did miss the customization of Cyanogenmod. The only thing I notice right off is the BLN notification is craaazy. Doesn't really work. I have adjusted the setting to "always on" and other things. I even downloaded the BLN notification app. the settings also do not stick, it blinks even though I have it set to always on. Any thought on this?

I have not had any issues with the gallery, camera, or video recorder whatsoever. In fact, I took over 200 photos and 10 videos at a concert this weekend. I haven't seen any issues with it in the CM10 thread either, so I know it's not a common CM10 problem. Are you running the stock CM10 camera, or have you tried flashing the 4.2 camera? I know the 4.2 camera has some issues, thus why it's not stock on CM10 yet. I would say, try clearing your camera / gallery cache. If that doesn't work, you may have a bad flash. Make sure you wipe data / reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache, flash the rom, flash gapps, clear cache / dalvik again, fix permissions, then boot into CM10. Never had a problem doing it this way. I'm using 2.2.2 (i think) TWRP touch recovery. As far as the outgoing call issue, I have not had that issue either. Occasionally someone can't here me when they call me, or I can't hear them, but not very often. I had this issue on stock and every rom though.I think it's just a Tmobile issue. I'd say try some different radios. UVLE1 has been good to a lot of people.

OK, I'm currently running CM 10.2 Linaro build and I love it but there's a few quirks that are gradually becoming irritating. I want to try a new ROM and I'm having a hard time choosing. Right now, I'm looking at Dirty Unicorns and ReVolt. I have a few things I need to know before giving either a shot though. Are there any known issues with either? Like, MAJOR issues? Like MMS/GPS not working, stuff like that. Also, before flashing CM 10.2, I flashed the Google camera and I kinda regret it, photosphere doesn't work AND I'm stuck at 8mp.
Any other ROM suggestions are welcome. I've also ran beanstalk before too

Droidmk has a Slimbean build on his Dev-Host. Haven't tried the new AOKP-based ROMs (Carbon, Dirty Unicorns, Revolt, etc) because I actually don't like their set of options versus CM's set of options, but they may have gotten better performance/battery wise. Super Nexus 4.3 is good. MMS worked on almost everything I've tried, so there's that. Dunno about GPS though, I don't use it.
Edit: Also, don't forget about our 4.2.2 ROMs as well. I know they are old and still have the camera focus issue, but the performance and battery is WAY more worth it than 4.3. At least, to me it is.

Super Nexus 4.2.2 had some MMS issues; some MMS would come in, sometimes they wouldn't. And Super Nexus 4.3 has the nasty SMS bug where texts wouldn't send over 160 chars, and the SMS zip fix didn't work for me.
I edited my post right before you posted so maybe you didn't see what I added, but don't forget about the 4.2.2 ROMs. Despite being old, they perform extremely well aside from the camera bug. I wish I could get the same battery life out of 4.3 like I could with 4.2

Cm 10.2 has the same SMS bug. Its one of those quirks I was talking about in the OP. Hmm...I'll put it on the list. Thanks

Another option for the not splitting after 160 chars is to just use a 3rd party sms app. I know that go sms has an option that will manually split the text for you

Does anyone know of any roms that are running 4.4 or something close to it. Im running strong steve odexed blue 4.1.2 rom but I want an up to date rom. Also, my phone keeps trying to get me to accept the ota update but ofcourse I cant because I am rooted. If there is a rom out there that includes this update please let me know.

Yes look in my signature, been running beanstalk since it was posted. Only flaws are front cam causes reboots and dreaded 9016 texts from visual voicemail.

The ota was 4.3. Also didn't you just get a similar post like this locked. Go to android development section. Download a few and try them out. Read the ops to find out whats in each. Xda encourages reading.

Actually Beanstalk has another huge flaw IMO. It will not reliably connect to most car's bluetooth. When it does, it typically drops out within 5 minutes. I'm running CyanFox 4.4 and the bluetooth works fairly good, not perfect but good.

Beanstalk is awesome if you don't need the car bluetooth. I actually put it back on and used it for two more days before I decided that I really needed it to connect to my vehicle. CyanFox is better, not perfect. I doesn't connect automatically, so I have to actually connect it every time I get in the car. It also has disconnected on me several times in two days although it does reconnect automatically. All the features work, I'm able to make and receive calls, scroll through my contacts on my car's nav screen and stream my music to my vehicle. Hopefully a fix will be coming for all the 4.4 roms and bluetooth because it seems to be a problem.
