Help, possible bricked A100 - Acer Iconia Tab A100

I was trying to go back to stock ICS and cwm recovery. When I tried to go back, I was currently rooted, running twrp recovery and a custome rom (carbon). I followed this procedure:
The simple method to revert back to stock ICS from a custom ROM on an A100.
+++Locked bootloader, no custom recovery, no root. Full stock .014 rom. It will recieve OTA updates to latest Acer version.+++
Get Ready
1) Download this flashable Stock recovery zip, and place in your normal flashing location, - Thx 4 help pio
http://db.tt/VLmnMCzq
Also uploaded below
2) Download the Official .014 Stock ICS rom
The stock ICS zip from zeronull. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1611696
Here is a second link to it. http://ubuntuone.com/7DZtbNqZzOk7qsaQxNk99a - thx zleto
3) Rename the Stock ICS rom to "update.zip", no quotes (make sure you have "hide known file extensions" UNCHECKED, in the folder options). And place it on the root of your microSD card. This will allow you to see the file extension to verify that it is named properly.
Get it Done
1) Flash the Stock recovery zip with your custom recovery. Then wipe cache, davlik cache, and wipe data/factory reset.
2) Reboot to system.
3) Allow it to sit for 5 minutes or so.
4) Then Power off.
5) Update from the microSD card by holding down the power and volume rocker closest to the corner at the same time, until you see "erasing cache .".. ect, ect. The stock rom install should start by itself, dont touch anything, wait for it to reboot.
****** If it won't boot do a factory reset (with the hardware buttons, see below) and/or try to reflash the ics rom one more time. ******
Quote:
To perform a Factory Data Reset use the following steps:
1.Place the rotation lock switch in the up position (tablet held in portrait). Or to the left if held in landscape.
2.Press and hold the Volume down button, which is located farthest from the corner (it is volume up, if held in landscape).
3.With the Volume down button held, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds then release it. Continue holding the Volume down button.
4.Once the tablet vibrates, switch the rotation lock on and off repeatedly while still holding the Volume down button.
5.Release the Volume down button and stop switching the rotation lock once the "Erasing Userdata..." message appears in the upper left corner of the screen
Now I get the android symbol with the red triangle, that stays for about a minute, then it reboots and stays on thye acer screen. When I did the steps and was going to reboot, I received a waring while in recovery sayiny that I dont have a op installed. I did it anyway, as posted and now I'm stuck, can anyone PLEASE help me.I tried doing a reset with steps 2 though 4 but while pressing the vol up and letting go of the power button, it does not vibrate.
Ok, I redownloaded the stock ICS from here http://ubuntuone.com/7DZtbNqZzOk7qsaQxNk99a. At the end of the download, a window popped up saying this may be a malicious file. (Idownloaded it on my pc). I remember it also said the same thing when I downloaded it the first time too. I turned off the tablet, took the sd card out, put in pc and transferred the file, pulled out from pc, inserted in tablet and turned it on, still same thing with android synbol and red triangle. I tried to do a factory reset by following the steps above. I got it to say erasing userdata, then this is what it says in red, unrecoverable bootloader (ox19000008) I have no idea what this means?? Can anyone help me out with getting this back to stock ICS and recovery?? What do I do next?? Thanks
Now, when I do the same procedure but instead use the vol up button (instead of the down button), it comes up bootloader, then the version number, then starting fastboot usb protocol. I have no idea what this means??

3. Install System Recovery apk file. Open the app and click Install System Recovery ( place System Recovery apk file in your SD Card)
4. Extract the file Froyo_UK_3.4.2-117 and place the folder in sdcard/goapkrev/backup ( if you cannot find the folder, create one)
5. Click Recovery boot and it should enter clockwork mod recovery
6. Navigate to backup/restore. Do a Backup for your current stock rom (navigate using volume up/down and press Power Button to enter)
7. Wipe data and wipe dalvik cache (in Advanced Options) in the recovery mode
8. Restore Froyo_UK_3.4.2-117
9. Click reboot and right after that press and hold down volumn up button and you should be in boot mode
10. Plug in you Defy to computer and open RSD Lite. Open the file TmobileUS_Boot_Devtree and flash with it.
problem comes when i'm at flashing using RSD lite. when i flash it, it comes to 'please manually power up your phone'. problem is, i keep getting the motorola logo, which i assume is being stuck in a boot loop? i tried to go to recovery and wiping data and cache, and flashing it again, but keep having the same problem.
actually, how to you manually power up the phone? i did a battery pull since pressing the power button seems to get is stuck in the same boot loop, and i dont see any other way.
please help!
Pull battery,
put battery back in holding the VOL-Down until the android pops up...
press VOL-Up and VOL-Down at the same time.
Next screen is for wiping and updating.
Wipe Data/Cache
When done, go to REBOOT and hold down the VOL-Up to go into Flash mode. and flash with RSD 4.9

Stuk on repeating boot animation and new sbf dosn't work?

I flashed a new sbf but forgot to wipe cache and data.
When i tried to start-up my phone, the boot animation kept repeating.
Also when i tried recharging, there was an "?".
Tried to wipe afterwards in stock recovery but i couldn't push the corner.
Found it:
Go in stock recovery (power+vol down). When warning sign appears press one of the buttom corner or if it dusn't work (my case) press both volume keys at the same time. Do both cache and data wipe.
Next go into bootloader (pull battery and put it back in while volume up or press power + vol up) and flash your sbf using RSD lite.

[Q] Recovery and/or Wipe not working.

OK, so I have my wife's old Incredible that was Rooted with Unrevoked. It was kept stock Rooted.
She got an Incredible 2 and I now want to sell her old Incredible. Tried to Wipe data and SD Card using the Data and Storage Settings menu. The phone acts like it is doing both things, but doesn't actually format the SD Card, and when doing a Factory Reset, the phone reboots and acts like it is wiping the data. When it boots back up, her background is still there and there are a bunch of widgets that say "Problem Loading Widget" on them. It does seem to remove some items as email accounts are reset, GMail, etc. are all wiped.
So, I reboot into Recovery to try and reflash the stock Radio, put S-On, and install the stock ROM, but no matter what I choose in Clockwork Recovery, I get a "blank" screen after choosing a menu item. For example, when I go to "Install Zip from Sdcard," It will take the input and where it would normally ask what Zip I want to install, it only shows the background of CWR. If I try to Wipe Data, where normally it would have all the menu options with "NO" and the one that says "Yes - Wipe Data," that menu never shows up.
So, I can't fully wipe the thing, and I can't seem to flash stock Boot, Recovery, etc. to get this back to stock so I can sell it.
Any ideas?
I'll try helping you out.
1) download a new Incredible recovery from dougpiston.com/ and follow his directions above the downloads.
2) reboot into hboot (you can also turn off phone then hold vol down + power). It should prompt for an update, which you should accept. Let your phone do it's thing, it may take several minutes or longer.
3) Once you have a new recovery, delete that PB31IMG recovery file.
Your recovery should work as expected now. Btw, where did you download the s-on file from?

I downloaded both the Stock recovery, flashed and got a picture of a phone with a Red Exclamation point on it. I then downloaded CWR 3.0.0.8 and flashed that, this time it goes into recovery but does the same thing the other one does: Shows the menu options but then the screen goes blank if I try to choose an option.
EDIT: Holy poop, I think I know what the issue was all along! Basically, I was thinking that recovery worked like my Thunderbolt in that the Vol +/- was how to scroll in CWR menus and the PWR button was the select. Turns out that you use the trackball to both scroll AND select menus in CWR on the DInc!
I just wiped the device in CWR and it is booting up. I already sold the phone to a friend and she told me to keep it Rooted with a stock ROM on it, so I don't have to go any further provided that it wipes properly!
Well as long as it works!

If it has clockworkmod than it should work like this
Using Clockwork Recovery console
Disconnect the USB cable and reboot the phone into HBOOT mode (power off, then hold volume down key and press-hold power on key).
HBOOT will scan for the ESPRIMG.zip file (and some others), then present you with 4 options: Fastboot, Recovery, Simlock and Clear Storage.
Press volume down key to select Recovery, and press power key to apply.
This will take you to a screen with a black background, a picture of a phone and a big red exclamation mark.
Press and hold the Volume Up key, then whilst still holding Volume Up, press the Power key. This will take you to a secret yellow menu with a few options (you may also get an error like E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command, it's ok to ignore this one).
Press Volume Down to scroll the list and highlight Apply sdcard:update.zip. Press the Power button to activate.
This will flash the update.zip file we copied to the root of the memory card, which activates a custom tool called the Clockwork Recovery. Clockwork lets us do many things, including making full phone backups, and installing unsigned ROM images. Clockwork gets wiped every time you reset the phone. So to use it, you must always reboot into HBOOT mode, choose Recovery, activate the hidden menu and apply the update.zip as above. You will be doing this multiple times, so get used to it.
If that doesn't work than you need to put http://dl.dropbox.com/u/642364/slideroot/update.zip that in your sd card
After you flash Clockwork Recovery for the first time, you should download Rom Manager, and in it will have an option that says "Reboot into Recovery", and once you select that, it will take you directly to Clockwork, so no more constant reflashing

Sprint EVO-4G stuck in boot loop, HELP!

Hi all,
A friend helped me root my evo-4g quite a while back. I am not that familiar with the whole process he did but wish I was. My son tried to get it going again but no luck!! It was working fine until I turned it on this afternoon, now it is as follows.
When I turn the phone on it goes to this menu always:
Supersonic EVT2-3 SHIP S=ON
HBOOT - 6.16.1002
Microp - 041f
Touch Panel - ATMELC03-16ac
RADIO - 2.15.00.0808
Mar 8 2011, 17:02:15
I got it to finally go to this menu,
The menu reads:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.2
There are no folders on the sdcard, only the following 4 files in the root of the sdcard:
EVO_Radio_2.15.00.11.19.zip
PC36IMG.zip
Superuser-3.0.6-d-signed.zip
unrevoked-forever-son.zip
PC36IMG_Supersonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.54.651.1_Radio_2,15_release_220182_signed.zip
with USB setting on so I can view the contents of the SD card.
Phone info:
Sprint EVO-4G
Model: PC36100
Android version: 2.3.5
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.0808
Kernel version: 2.6.37.6-cyanogenmod-01509-g8913be8 [email protected]#1
CPUInfo: ARM v7 Processor rev2(v71)
mod version: gingerbread-evodeck-1.3d
Build number: GRJ90
Could really use your assistance/guide to get this working again!!!

Re: Sprint EVO-4G stuck in boot loop
Follow these steps to get your phone to start normally:
1) Remove the battery, then reinstall the battery; do not turn the phone on yet.
2) Make sure the phone has enough charge to run by charging for 15 to 20 minutes and then unplug the phone.
3) Boot into the the bootloader by simultaneously pressing and holding the volume down and power buttons.
4) Use the volume buttons to highlight Recovery and press the power button.
The phone will vibrate, display the white screen with HTC Evo 4g, then display a black screen with a large green sync icon over a hard disk. (There's an image here: http://geekfor.me/wp-content/uploads.../radio_4.1.png)
After about a minute, the icon will change to a red error symbol (triangle with exclamation point) over a cellphone. (There's an image here: http://htcevohacks.com/wp-content/up...ery-mode-4.jpg)
5) Now remove the battery, reinsert it, and power the phone on normally. The phone should boot normally with and all the apps and data present just as they were before the loop started.

Morning and thank you for the response! I did as suggested and it takes me to another menu, Blue, with ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.2 at the top of the screen. There are several menu choices:
reboot system now
apply update from sd card
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from sdcard
backup and restore
mounts and storage
advanced
power off
go back.
I looked under backup and restore, restore and there is nothing to restore.
It seems like it is in the state it was when it was originally rooted, but with nothing there???
Can I just wipe(??) everything and start fresh? Do you think the phone is "bricked"?
Thanks again for your assistance!
Tony.
Re: Sprint EVO-4G stuck in boot loop
You will be able to get your EVO working again. The phone is not bricked; however, we will need to wipe the phone's data if it is continuing to boot loop at this point. As you have determined that you do not have a backup, all data (text messages and contacts not synced to Google) will be lost.
To wipe the data follow these steps:
1) Boot into the the bootloader by simultaneously pressing and holding the volume down and power buttons.
2) Use the volume buttons to highlight Recovery and press the power button.
3) Select Wipe data/factory reset, press the power button, and press the power button again to confirm.
4) Select Wipe cache, press the power button, and press the power button again to confirm.
5) Select Advanced, select Wipe Dalvik cache, press the power button, and press the power button again to confirm.
6) Repeat steps 4 and 5 two more times.
7) Return to the main ClockworkMod menu, select Reboot system, and press the power button.
Your existing gingerbread-evodeck-1.3d ROM will still be installed and no data on your sdcard will be affected; but when the phone boots, you will need to complete the phone setup, allow the phone to sync Google contacts and mail, and reinstall all your apps from the Play Store.
If your phone still fails to boot properly, we will need to wipe it completely and reflash gingerbread-evodeck-1.3d or the ROM of your choice.

Thanks Bob!! Well, I am at "If your phone still fails to boot properly, we will need to wipe it completely and reflash gingerbread-evodeck-1.3d or the ROM of your choice", so dangit!! The phone goes right back to the HBOOT screen again! I think it may be due to the fact that the phone has changed to S-ON??? So, with great appreciation, where/how do I get from here to where I need to be? I am really new to this, so whatever instructions you can provide are extremely welcome!
Tony.
Re: Sprint EVO-4G stuck in boot loop
Okay Tony, you are going to have to reflash the ROM. First, you need to download the gingerbread-evodeck-1.3d ROM at http://dev-host.org/5cunzxxokegs/gingerbread-evo-deck-1.3.zip and Google Apps from http://dev-host.org/zytjk409wqpt/gapps-20110828.zip (or from http://dev-host.org/owb5co4f96pj/gapps-20110828-vm.zip if you need the included voicemail apk). After downloading both zip files to your computer, copy gingerbread-evo-deck-1.3.zip and the gapps zip file to the root folder on the EVO's sdcard. Make sure the EVO's battery is substantially charged (at least) 40 percent before attempting to flash the ROM.
Follow these steps to flash the ROM:
1) Boot into the the bootloader by simultaneously pressing and holding the volume down and power buttons.
2) Use the volume buttons to highlight Recovery and press the power button.
3) Select Wipe cache, press the power button, and press the power button again to confirm.
4) Select Advanced, select Wipe Dalvik cache, press the power button, and press the power button again to confirm.
5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 two more times.
6) Return to the main ClockworkMod menu, select Mounts and storage, and press the power button.
7) Select Format /cache, press the power button, select Yes Format, and press the power button.
8) Select Format /data, press the power button, select Yes Format, and press the power button.
9) Select Format /system, press the power button, select Yes Format, and press the power button.
10) Select Install zip from sdcard and press the power button.
11) Select Choose zip from sdcard and press the power button.
12) Select gingerbread-evo-deck-1.3.zip and press the power button, select Yes Install, and press the power button.
13) Wait until the flash is complete.
14) Select Install zip from sdcard and press the power button.
15) Select Choose zip from sdcard and press the power button.
16) Select the gapps zip file and press the power button, select Yes Install, and press the power button.
17) Wait until the flash is complete.
18) Return to the main ClockworkMod menu, select Reboot system, and press the power button.
You will need to complete the phone setup, allow the phone to sync Google contacts and mail, and reinstall all your apps from the Play Store. Once you have configured your phone and reinstalled all your apps, I recommend that you boot back into recovery and make a backup which can be used to restore your phone to its current state in the future.

Afternoon Bob,
Thanks so very much for your assistance with this! It works now (WHEWWW)!!! I have a question (of course)..The boot-loader screen(??) still displays S-ON, instead of the previous S-OFF. I am guessing this has no bearing on the phone functioning in rooted mode since it seems to work fine, just wondering.
Another question, if you would please. What determines if a more recent version of Android OS (image/custom ROM) can be put on a phone? This one is gingerbread and I have read there are newer ones, just curious!! My Mrs has the same phone (unrooted) and is wanting a new one with a newer OS, so thought I would ask..
Thanks again so very much!
Tony.
Re: EVO-4G stuck in boot loop, HELP!
Good to hear your EVO is working again Tony. When the bootloader is unlocked and a custom recovery is installed, as it is on your EVO, the phone is rooted and you are able to flash any ROM for the HTC EVO 4G. S-ON is a security flag that prevents overwriting the firmware for the radios and portions of the NAND flash. In order to upgrade the phones radio firmware, this flag must be set to S-OFF.
In your EVO's current state, you can flash any custom ROM coded for the HTC EVO 4G. There are some issues, however, related to drivers for the cameras and WiMax (4G) radio on the EVO 4G for newer Android releases. The availability of working drivers for the EVO 4G hardware along with limited internal memory are the primary factors in determining what versions of Android will work on this phone. Generally, Gingerbread (Android 2.3.x) ROMs support all hardware for the EVO 4G; but Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.x) and Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.x) ROMs do not support FFC (front facing camera) or WiMax (4G) and some ROMs may also have issues with WiFi and camera performance.
If you rely heavily on either WiMax or camera capabilities for the phone, you will want to concentrate on one of the many Gingerbread (Android 2.3.x) ROMs available for the EVO 4G. On the other hand, if you seldom use WiMax (4G) and do not need the front facing camera, there are a number of custom ROMs available based on Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.x) and Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.x). Another consideration for the selection of a custom ROM for your EVO is whether you strongly prefer a Sense based ROM similar to the stock Sprint ROM or the freedom of an AOSP (Android Open Source Project) based ROM. In general, Sense based ROMs tend to occupy more space in the EVO's internal memory while AOSP based ROMs tend to take up somewhat less internal memory and perform better.
Most ROMs available for the EVO 4G are listed at http://evo4g.roms-db.com/all-builds/ with links to the xda-developers page for each ROM. Before you undertake experimenting with various ROMs for your EVO 4G, I recommend that you replace ClockworkMod Recovery with Smelkusmod which has a reputation for wiping memory more reliably which is crucial to flashing ROMs successfully. Smelkusmod Recovery is available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661543 and is easily installed by copying the downloaded zip file to the root directory of the EVO's sdcard, renaming the file PC36IMG.zip, rebooting the EVO into recovery, allowing the bootloader to detect PC36IMG.zip, and confirming the installation of the new recovery module. Once you have installed Smelkusmod Recovery, the file PC36IMG.zip should be removed from the sdcard.
In addition, you will need to consider partitioning the sdcard before installing most Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.x) and Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.x) ROMs as a number of these ROMs will not install properly without an sd-ext partition formatted with ext3 or ext4 file systems. You can read an explanation of sdcard partitioning at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158993. If you opt to partition your sdcard, do not forget to copy the entire contents of the sdcard to an empty folder on your computer first since partitioning will destroy all data on the sdcard! I recommend either a 512 MB extended partition (sd-ext) for 8GB sdcard or 1024 MB extended partition for 32 GB sdcard and formatting the sd-ext partition with the ext3 file system as this configuration will work with Gingerbread as well as ICS and JellyBean ROMs. Once you have partitioned and formatted the sdcard, copy the original contents of the sdcard from your computer to the newly formatted sdcard.
