Case-mate tough - microphone almost muted - Xperia Z1 Accessories

Hi,
Any one of you guys has this case and experienced problems with microphone volume level? http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/case-mate-tough-case-for-sony-xperia-z1-black-black-p40805.htm
Since I bought it ppl tell me I sound like I was asleep or smth.
After switching to loudspeaker ppl say the sound quality is ok. Calling through bluetooth headset is also ok.
I tested this case with mic noise suppression on and off without any major differences - still crappy sound coming from microphone.
The case itself was a bit overpriced but it protects the phone very well, but if any of you guys experienced something like that I might just get rid of it and get incipio... Weird - never had those issues with case-mate
thanks

I donĀ“t have such problems, it sounds for me exactly the same with case and without case ...

yeah - saw that but I wanted something that covers back also - case-mate has all buttons covered in rubber - it's pretty neat but taking a screenshot is a little hard (succeeded 1 out of 10 attempts) and has a cutout only for charging flap. I would recommend that for phone protection but ergonomics and functionality - it's not perfect. Too expensive.

It is a bluetooth headset, hence the post in the "Accessories".
As to the OP, I don't have one, so I can't truly comment. I used to have problems with my old BT headset sitting correctly (broke the ear clip two times because it didn't fit well over my huge ears). However Bluetooth earpieces are often very hit or miss for fitting well. Possibly change the little ear-canal mold-coupler piece (the silicone part where the speaker fits into your ear)? If the fit of the ear clip is loose, you also might consider using some Sugru (is a type of modders' silicone putty that cures fairly quickly) to mod it to be a bit thicker in the spots that don't hold well. Would increase the grippiness as well as modify the shape to fit you better.

Major Design Flaw with Neo Hybrid (Audio jack)

I hate to start another thread about the Neo Hybrid from SGP but I was really excited that they supposedly fixed the issue with the button sensitivity and finally ordered one for my phone. I loved the case, even with a slight power button sensitivity issue still remaining after I was told they were re-designed. However, I found an even more major flaw (for me, anyway), as many of my audio cords simply do not fit into the 3.5mm jack with the case on. I have never ever had this issue with any case on any phone. A simple aux cord in my car just did not go down deep enough, and the same issue exists with my computer speakers. The car thing was a major no no for me, as one of my biggest uses for my phone is to stream music in the car. I have a hybrid tpu style case from boxwave (the cheap one with the kickstand), which im not crazy about, but it definitely does not have either of these issues, I think this is a major fail from SGP. I contacted them for a return/refund and I'm sure they will have no problem taking it back.

Cases and trapped sound

Hello,
I have now a TPU case that is OK, but has a serious problem. When on a table and a notification rings, for a reasonable volume, I can hear it. It looks like the sound is trapped by the case and the table.
Do you know of any case which have any kind of knob that let the sound going out? I know there are cases for other phones that has one knob in each corner, so the phone stand in the surface like a table with very short legs.

Could you attach a picture or a link to the case?To be honest, lg kinda made a mistake with the position of the speaker. Why?because of the flat back, when you put the phone on a flath surface,it's blocking the speaker,so you won't be able to hear it loud and clear. Same happens with the case.I also have a silicon case and facing kinda the same issues

This is Otterbox case for LGOG with I suspect has a knob in the speaker: http://cdn-store.crackberry.com/store_images/product_images/accessories/large/13117.jpg
And here is the nexus 4 ringke fusion case with has one little knob in each corner: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8511/8525173164_4d64efe089_z.jpg
I have read in a spanish forum that there are people who has put a sticky in order to stand up a little the phone, so the sound can go out with clarity, but that sound to me like a dirty solution.
I continue looking for the perfect case
Same silicon as mine.Yep,no doubt,it's more like a design error.i always place my phone upside down or i'm looking for an uneven surface

Well, I think is a flaw in design, but most phone makers are putting the speaker in the back. I only know of some HTC models which has in the front, and I think iPhone has in on the sides. It is more common that it appears.
I have put a bit of imagination and make a little workaround. I will see about it. Hope it will last. See the pictures:

hah, this is one funny "ghetto" workaround, but as long as it works for you and you're not worried about the looks its fine

Hybrid case that has headphone port large enough for most jacks?

I have the Spigen Neo Hybrid. I really like its functionality, EXCEPT for the fact that I cannot use any headphone adapter with it. I use my phone with various plugs and none of them will fit due to the small holes in this case. I refuse to take my case on and off when I want to listen to music.
I need a case that is a dual layer. I want that extra protection. I like the slimness that this Neo Hybrid offers. Is there another case out there that would suit my needs? (i.e., allow me to use my regular cords to play music from different speakers and outlets?) I do not want to add bulk to the phone. So nothing clunky like Otter Box looking.
Thanks for anyone that chimes in.
I can tell you that the headphone port is no bigger on the 2nd gen then on the first gen of the spigen slim armor case. It's still to small. I may end up waiting until january sometime and get a case with a built in extended battery.

I could find a set of headphones if that is all I needed. The thing is, I use my phone to listen to music/ Pandora on 3 different sets of speakers . None of these speaker adapters fit through my case. It's really frustrating.

Pull out the dremel or an exacto knife? I'm thinking about doing that

Maybe you could search for some kind of "adapter", something like this
http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Techn...eo-accessories&ie=UTF8&qid=1385945005&sr=1-14 (for the iphones)
I don't know if that could work on any android, but something like that should already exist, im kinda sure..

I thought about that, too. I was not sure about where to actually extend the holes. Would you do it towards the back of the case? Tell me what you were thinking. I am not too scared to try it.

Thank you.
Yes, I got one of those things from Walmart as a "bandaid" right now. It distorts the sound quality. And quite honestly, I don't want to walk around with an adapter connected to my phone all day, nor try to keep up with it. I just really want a case that works!!

The problem is that in your case you'll be jumping off from the pro (Neo Hybrid/Slim Armor) wagon. Those are by far the best cases for the Nexus 5 and there's not anything close to that.

I wouldn't. If you widen that hole enough to be useful to you, it's going to break the plastic band...

What is this plastic band?
just got my neo hybrid today
Came in the mail this morning and I love it! I felt like i was pimping, until I found out I can't use my head phone jack. How was this possible? Can't believe they would sell it like this. I love it too much to part with it. There has to be a better way.
I've been using these - known as AirBuds - sold exclusively online - $40 or $60 for 2 pairs, sometimes on sale for 25% off.
The inline buds has smart mic control, fit perfectly in the Spigel Ultra Hybrid case and another rugged bumper case that I'm using for the N5 - the foam tips offer great sound isolation w/o need for noise cancellation.
It works in the iPads as well HTC & Nexus 7 that we owned, and the flat cord is tangle-free.
http://www.air-buds.com/product/ - they are also on Facebook
What kind of monster headphone jacks are you guys using that it won't fit in these cases? I've used all sorts of cases and never once had an issue with port size.

This is incorrect, just basic run-of-the-mill (means common) jacks nothing special. Like ones that work in other cases with no issue. Its just this case is picky about using a specific size jack.

[Q] Iphone 6 quality case for the Z3 Compact?

Hey all,
Recently received my Z3 compact and am loving it. The only slight niggle I have is with the case manufacturers, are there any cases similar to that of the official iPhone 6 (many apologies, I am unable to post a link just yet)
I liked the look of some slim cases, for example the terrapin hybrid, however the cut outs on the top left side of these cases leave the phone very exposed (i would much rather it be fully covered, apart from the magnetic charging port) and not structurally sound. I own the case-mate tough and the top left side is weak.
So I am curious if there are any cases out there that offer the quality and look of the iPhone 6 case mentioned above, not to mention the feel too. Whilst I am really happy with the Z3 compact, the 6's design sits in the hand well.
Many thanks guys!

That's the one I use... the name really fits... it feels like "barely there". Additionally it allows the charging at the official docking station without problems. And it in general just feels good I have to say.

ah thanks for the reply! my only issue with case mate is the exposed side. i have the other one, and it makes the top corner unstructured/weak.. other than that it'd be perfect

hm... don't know... to me it really feels stable even though that one corner is kinda exposed... but nevertheless it doesn't bend or get off at all. At least I was quite impressed with it

Understandable. But I also have to say, that people do feel differently about stability / product quality etc.
E.g. some people complain, that when you press against 1 corner of this case, you hear some "creaking" noises... and I can confirm that in general. But the point to me is, that in my usage (and I think I can honestly call me a power user) I just don't get to create that sound... so this doesn't matter to me. For me the pros are:
- stable (dropped already a few times.. absolutely no visible damage neither to phone nor case)
- super slim (charging in dock still perfectly possible)
- simple black color (I don't like fancy stuff)
- perfect material... never slipped in my hands even the tinyest bit
i'm using this one
