[Q] Naked P6 and updates? - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Hi!
I recently bought this phone and has added a full body protection. Its nicely protected now, but also looks like a iphone 4 with a glass back cover. I prefer the matt alu look and feeling, but fear its easily get scratches?
My firmware are b107. There aren't any ota update available. But could I find a newer version that has european languages?

You can find international B118 firmware on here with update guide.

Its incredibly easy to scratch that phone, mine got "scratched" by getting it out of my pocket. One of those small buttons near the pockets actually managed to scratch it. Incredible.

[Q] Do I have to use the the protective case?

Hi!
Please, do I have to the the protecive case supplied with the phone? I don't like protective case, but I had been warned by a shop clerk that the back case would wear down quickly otherwise. I have the black version of the phone.
Thanks
hmmmmm maybe this is the reason why Huawei plans to use glass casing for p7. If P7 comes with some kind of scratch proof glass material, it would be a killer feature.
Anyway to answer your question, i use a slim casing to be on the safe side and not have the horror scenario of seeing a scratch on the phone. Because it is a slim casing i haven't sacrificed too much of its original slimness.
You could on the other hand buy some kind of pouch type cover so you can use it without the pouch whenever using.

Would you mind sharing which case you have, please? The Huawei one that came with the phone is too bulky for my liking.

Got Scratches on the back due to official ice view case

Hello friends,
I would like to ask if any of you managed to not scratch the back of your phone. If so how?
Because in my experience, after a light drop when i bought it, i said for the first time in my life, in going to use a case (previously all htc phones, then xperia z2, all looked brand new after 2 years of use without a case).
But with the original ice view case (which split in two after 6 months because the glued flap was weak btw), i somehow found the aluminum back cover of the phone getting scratched/peeled here and there, even though i never used the phone without the case.
I am now about to have the back cover replaced with a brand new red one at a shop since i have to replace the battery anyway (sadly i see a significant decrease of battery life after a year).
Question : do any of you fellows managed to keep the metal back of the phone in good condition with a case? I mean regarding the peeling off the coating. If so, what were your picks?
Thanks in advance everyone.
I haven't noticed any scratches from any of my clear TPU cases or leather ones. I have been using the official ICE case lately so I'll double check to see if that's done anything so far. It's a nice case but cracks way too easily for being $50.

I use a Spigen Slim Armor, I had a solid drop with it on the other day from about a meter high, it landed face down on concrete and skidded across a metal manhole plate. Phone wasnt scratched at all, but the case certainly took the beating instead. Definitely recommend one (also its been on about a year and the back of the phone still looks like brand new) it also gives the phone a much less slippery feel which is a massive bonus.
If you keep the crud out from in between the case and the phone it'll stay scratch free. Just take it off every few weeks and clean it, boom.
I dropped mine about 30' off a bridge pier I was inspecting last year with a Spigen slim armor case on, and it survived. I have no idea how, but it wasn't even scratched. The case was effed up pretty bad and the screen protector was trashed. Toughest phone I've had to date.
Hopefully the U12 or whatever gets away from the glass back plate because I'll most certainly break that.

Finally bought the Galaxy Fold yesterday

I finally took the plunge and bought the Galaxy Fold yesterday.
I am in Hong Kong and the phone just released on 22nd Nov 2019 and I wanted to try out the phone before buying it. The sad thing is that there are no stores in Hong Kong with a demo, except for Samsung's Experience store. So I had to find time to go there and give it a try. I did that on Saturday and gave it some thought until yesterday, when I finally bought one.
My major concern was the screen. Fearing that it is very fragile and could break easily. But after trying the phone, I realized that it is not all that risky. Samsung does give 1 year of screen replacement but my telecom service provider provided their own coverage for screen protection. The only thing is that i need to pay for the repair charge and then I can claim from the telecom company after. I can take advantage after using using Samsung's free screen coverage so in other words I get 2 chances to repair the screen within the year.
My other concern was price and if it is the right time now in November to buy the Galaxy Fold. Newer phones will be out in April 2020. However, when I received a special price offer for the standalone phone, I thought I will just get one to try.
My initial impressions are very good. It is very satisfying to us the phone as a tablet. The phone is really unique and different from all the phones I have tried so far. The speed feels just the same as the Galaxy S10+ and Note10+ obviously but coming from the Asus ROG Phone 2, I was worried that the phone will feel slower but it is not the case.
I spent time to install some apps and to copy my data from my previous phone last night. I didn't get to out the phone much last night but I am happy with my experience so far.
I got the original Samsung Leather Cover as well as I tried the phone at Samsung's store and found the free cover to be very thin. I don't think it will provide very good protection. My first plan was to get the SPG Clear Hybrid case but I feared it will turn yellowish in time like my previous SPG cases. So I got the leather cover instead. The Galaxy Fold feels very premium with the leather cover on. The leather will surely provide more protection compared to the free bundled case. I only wish the Leather cover was cheaper.
Now looking for a carrying pouch / Sleeve for the Galaxy Fold.
I have a question regarding the Samsung Galaxy Fold Covers.
I removed the plastic protection inside the cover before installing it. Is that a magnet inside the cover or is that some kind of sticky material which sticks to the phone's front and back?

It's just sticky glue to help it hold onto the phone. Glad you enjoy the phone. I had fears too until I bought it, now I can't use anything else. haha

I see because yesterday I noticed I didn’t apply it perfectly so I tried to remove it to adjust it a bit and it was a little difficult but later came off. That is why I was wondering.
It is okay to apply and remove the case and then re-apply again?

I had to remove mine several times to get to the sim tray and it's still fine. I'm sure it will last longer than the case will over time. It's just to secure it a little better to the phone. When it wears out I'll get a spigen or something.

Yes, but when using a $100 leather cover, we have to be cautious.

Sticky material. Uses the sticky stuff to better stay on the phone itself.

Any S10+ side wrap/skin?

Recently got this phone and I personally don't like using any phone case or phone skin for the back of the phone.
However I found the side of the phone a little too slippery to hold, was hoping there's a skin available to improve the side of the phone to be more grippy.
Please comment below if you know any company that makes skin for the side of the phone.
Many thanks
Well at least where I live there is only 1 company I trust and that's skinnova.
I am using their special edition skin and it looks great.
s10 version wraps around sides. note 10 version doesn't. there isn't even the option. no reliable place sells skins that covers the frame because it's probably to thin.
Is is even worse: The skins do not stick well on the ceramic back versions of the device.
For me it is the same: Gadgetshieldz Skinnova: https://www.gadgetshieldz.com/galaxy-s10-plus-skins-covers-wraps.html
Select Full back, that way you get skins, which wrap around the edges. I used several, they are fine.

Question Spigen Slim Armor Pro, has anyone switched from it?

I received this case yesterday for my new phone and while I do like it, its pretty damn bulky and so much its almost hard to type on the front screen now.
As I used it today I realized I will be much more careful with this device, do I really need such a beefy case with a hinge protector.
So I said, maybe I will switch to the samsung silicone case like this
Amazon.com
My question is, do you really notice the less bulk by switching to something like that?
It still protects the front and back and sure no hinge protection but to lose some of that bulk I think the tradeoff might be worth it.
Thoughts ??
Agreed. I have one sat in a box here as its near nigh impossible to get the gestures working correctly no matter how much you change the gesture sensitivity. I did order an aramid case when I purchased the phone originally therefore I'm using that. Coming from the pixel line I'm so used to gesture navigation that going back to the original navigation method felt a step too far for the case.
That Samsung Aramid case right? Yea thats the one I want to switch to, but where the [email protected]#[email protected]# do I get it? it seems everyone is sold out
I just bought the Samsung Silicone case, green color.
I hope its slimmer then this one I have now..
I have silicone case, it is totaly fine. Wanted arimid but this one was last in saturn store in Kiel (De)
Get the Latercase. It protects the camera module better and fits great. Cheaper than Samsung aramid too.
