I am pretty new to flashing ROMS and rooting. I rooted my S2 back in 2011. but since then I haven't. So i though I would do it with the Xperia S.
I installed XTXperience 9, unlocked bootloader. rooted n fastboot. I downloaded cwm recovery. cleared everything. installed the ROM, and It has got stuck in boot loop.
I was on the 6.1.A.2.45 firmware if that helps?
could someone please give me some short instructions and tell me what I am doing wrong I need this ROM looks so cool!

If you have unlocked bootloader, why don't you install a custom kernel? Like Advanced ICS Kernel, ELiTE, etc.

Not sure how to do that yet. would that possibly fix the boot loop I am having??
I've never installed a recovery manually, because I've always flashed a custom kernel with a recovery included, maybe that's why you're having a boot loop but I'm not sure.
If you already unlocked the bootloader you should flash a stock based kernel and that's it.

I unlocked the bootloader before it got in the bootloop. after flashing firmware I guess it is still unlocked. just need to root it again
If you already have you bootloader unlocked just flash a custom kernel! If you flash a ROM after that, it will be pre-rooted.

You must flash thru recovery.
Here the installation steps, but first you must flash a custom recovery like this or other, its up to you.
Installation instructions
- Copy f4ktion_1.4.0-xxx.zip to your SDCARD
- Reboot into CWM recovery
- Choose "Install zip from sdcard"
- Select f4ktion_1.4.0-xxx.zip kernel and confirm installation.

Thank you so much So all i have to do is flash the recovery in Odin.. But since my s4 mini is rooted, do i have to install the S4Mini_RootKit_V2.zip?? i mean if I do, will it conflict with the SuperSU i have previously installed on my device? Or just overwrite it and work like a charm? Sorry I'm asking like too many questions, but since i'm new here i need some guidance
Btw, how do i know if my bootloader is unlocked? Before I buy this s4 mini i owned an Xperia go and to install a kernel i had to unlock the BL.. I don't know if the same thing applies for sammy devices, just asking:angel:

No, we have bootloader unlocked, so you don't need to unlock anything.
No, try with this recovery if you afraid to not doing some conflicts:
[i919x][CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch
Download philz_touch_6.07.9-serranoltexx.tar.md5
boot into download mode
connect phone in download mode to PC via USB
press start to flash the tar.md5 package
normally, phone should auto-reboot into recovery.
If it reboots into main system and your recovery remains stock, repeat above steps and untick "autoreboot" in odin. Once flash is done, keep pressing the 3 buttons combo to for a reboot into recovery. You should see the new CWM
when in recovery, if you choose option "reboot system now" and you get "yes - disable flash recovery", select that option to avoid stock recovery overwriting cwm

Really, i don't know for sure, BUT in my previous phone (S Advance I9070) i have some errors when i flashed different baseband deodexed.
Make a nandroid backup after you have custom recovery, and you can try it. If something going wrong, restore your backup and all will just like before.

hello everyone, i have a rooted Samsung Galaxy Note II(GT-N7102 Daul sim) that i got from a friend of
mine. im not sure if its a clone or not but im having hard time putting in a custom recovery. the odin
method will not work nor will it go into odin mode and yes ive tried several different ways and it simply
will not work. ive been at this for about a week now.
so my question(s) at this point is:
1. Is there a flash-able recovery zip file that i can install via stock recovery?
2. Is it safe flash a custom recovery using the skipsoft tool kit via sideloader in the stock recovery(ADB)?
or
3. is it safe to install a custom recovery through the Rom Installer App?
morale of the story here folks is i just want put in a custom english rom but i cant do that without a custom recovery. and if anything i just want Gapps to work on my current rom(for now anayways)
also this probably off topic but i would like to know if theres a way to tell if i have a clone or not
your help and wisdom will be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!!

Hi I have been trying to install CWM Recovery on my phone through it's app through the play store. I have installed the recovery (It has said in the app) but when I boot into recovery it boots into default recovery. I am running Jelly Bean and my software version is GB28. I have also tried mobile ODIN but it says my device is unsupported, when I generate a dump file it still does not work. Help would be appreciated thanks

You can't do it that way. If you want CWM, you have to flash a ROM with that recovery attached to it. CM11 nightlies, Commotio, Vanir, Liquid Smooth, PAC ROM all have CWM recovery. That is the only way you can have that on this phone.

Use Mobile Odin to flash the GB27 repack with Agat's recovery, or one of Agat's kernels (either 1.3 or 1.42f).
This is of course assuming you're already rooted and have Busybox installed.
Also keep in mind that on this device, recovery comes bundled with kernel. And flashing a KitKat ROM will probably require a little more reading [emoji6]

Hello all.
So, as a noob, I rooted my tab S successfully and was playing around with the TWRP recovery settings and accidentally deleted my OS. I was able to flash a stock version of Android but now it is stuck in a loop and I have no way of getting it past the loading screen. I am able to access the download mode but I can get no further than that. Is there anyway that you can help me with resetting my device? Could any of you also link me to a thread which can help me unroot my tab so that I can reroot it using CF auto root with TWRP recovery mode installed?
That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
My model number is: SM-T800NZWAXAR
Wipe Data then flash again, wait at least 10 mins for for first boot.

I'm afraid I didn't get an answer from you. I asked for a link but I didn't get one. But you also suggested that I flashed the rom from or custom recovery. Correct me if there is anything wrong in the process that me and my cousin discovered. I probably forgot to mention that I had a T-800 but anyways.
From a prior, we did an ADB sideload of TWRPrecovery. It tooks my cousin a while to find the stuff, but he was able to reinstall the device drivers and sideload it into the system memory. From there, he uploaded the rom installer, which was done through aroma, at that point. Then. we installed, Gapps and customized it to include the services that I want. The rom worked perfectly.
But I messed up when I flashed the OTA through ODIN rather than through twrp. It deleted the custom recovery and a popup saying that gapps could not be located was annoyingly in the way.
So at this point. We were able to root the tablet. then flash the custom recovery. First we loaded the recovery, the actual rom. then gapps, and finally the OTA from the tablet memory. In hindsight, we decided to do this after trying to install straight gapps from the OTA and gapps kept giving an error code 70. After loading everything onto the rom, it worked.
Now I do have a question about xposed. Would I have to flash that in recovery if I wanted to take access of its features? Is there a link on how to use it? Or does that depend on xposed and how well my rom could support it?
Well I won't suggest u to flash xposed since it can give u bootloop problems and I m sure u won't wanna take a risk. But if u really want it then tell me.
And for installing the zip first u will need a deodexed rom installed on ur device

Yeah. I found out the hard way that my device can easily get boot looped with too many modules. I do have a back up ready and a method for wiping and resetting the device.
