[Q] Odin doesn't really recognize my Note2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I just decided to root my phone and found guides for doing so (and I'm very thankful for those!).
My problem is, that Odin won't recognize my phone, if i connect it after odin is already started
However, if i have my phone in download mode, connect it to my computer and THEN open odin it's recognized just fine.
Any ideas what could cause the problem? And is it even a problem or can i just proceed?
Its the same if i try to connect when not in download mode, odin will only recognize my phone, if i have it connected before odin is started
I have a Note 2 (N7100) on Android 4.1.2
Thanks a lot!

No problems this way.
You can go on with further process.

Try to reinstall correct USB drivers

I just proceeded anyways, meaning connecting the phone in download mode to the PC and then opening odin and it all worked out
thank you for the help!

[Q] Think I've bricked it.

Hi, I installed Cyanogen without a problem however the USB connection did not work as well as some other things so I found the Note 2 stock ROM and went to try flash that.
However the USB connection not working seems to still be a problem as the ROM doesn't flash (failed) and isn't recognized by Kies if I try to do an emergency firmware recovery.
Help guys! I'm stuck at the either "downloading" screen when I turn my phone on to load the ROM or either "there was a firmware error", I cannot load my phone past that, arrrrgh!
looks like it is a driver issue . You can try installing the drivers manually or with a different pc which previously recognized Note 2 ..
Go to downloading mode and let the usb drivers install from online or windows update .. or try connecting a different Note 2 and check if your PC recognizes Note 2

can i have your pit file in your SM-T210?
As long as it can enter recovery mode and can be recognized, do a STOCK ROM FLASH (USE THE CLEAN METHOD OF FLASHING). Now attempt to do that flash again..
An image/screenshot of the problem might help us to help you.

Aw, im using smt311, but flashing with odinnis the simole way,, did yiu finish it?
same thing happened to my t217s when Samsung didn't do anything for a legit issue with my tablet during an OTA update and stated that it was rooted (it has been stock since out of the box). after many attempts (didn't have another computer available) i switched to a different usb port and got it flashed just fine.
hi can i ask something it happened i flash samsung j1 then suddenly in 90percent was cut and i cant go back to download mode. and the phone turn black and cant connect to pc. Can Please can you help me?
I had a similar situation with a Galaxy SM-T113 here in Canada. I was hammering away at it for about 4 days with no luck. All i got was the "use Kies" to fix it message. Kies would not detect my phone though. Anyway what i did that worked was in part already tried earlier.. I already tried for example using a different cable and a different port. And i always got a failure with Odin and attempting the stock firmware flash.
So what did i do ?
I unplugged my Gamepad i keep plugged in 24/7 thinking maybe i had too many USB devices hogging USB port bandwidth.. maybe that was it I don't know.. I also uninstalled Kies but this time i said yes to installing the unified driver it asks you about. I also changed to yet another USB port.
It was working fine before hand.
I was trying to flash the firmware simply to reset the thing like i have done on countless other devices over the years.
I am not new to this sort of thing and was rather surprised to see Odin fail.
So who knows maybe my post here will help others.
I feel relieved i did not brick a perfectly good device. LOL

[Q] Galaxy Nexus bricked

hi, few weeks ago i got some troubles with my galaxy nexus and i had to buy a usb jig to restore it. today it arrived and i could access download mode, connect it to laptop n tried to flash a stock rom with odin, but the usb suddenly disconnected and connected again. i waited for a while but the installation didn't proceed anymore, so i tried to unplug the cable. now i can't access download more anymore, even with the jig. Odin still sees the galaxy nexus when i connect it to the laptop but cannot do anything... everytime i try to flash any rom it fails. any help please?
EDIT:
sorry guys... odin 3.07 solved it
i've tried all the older versions and nothing worked. fortunately i've found this one
u can close or delete the topic please, and sorry again
