if i edit my build.prop with astro, on a reboot the changes are lost, the file is marked r-w, so something altering it on bootup, anybody know where the source comes from??
Download Root Explorer and use that. Trust.
tried that, it keeps getting overwritten with some king of backup.

If that's the case, then it's a problem specific to the ROM. I haven't tried it on my TP2 but it worked flawlessly on my G1.
Lemme take a look once I get a second.
why cant i find the directory /system/ ?!?! i cant find the build.prop from within windows or winmo?!

Because it does not excist in winmo. It only excists in android.
I tried Root Explorer and it workers . I use latest froyo build with lower incall volume kernel .
Can somebody tell me when I delete apps in system/apps folder I delete from data.img or from system.ext2 ?
Same here, I change my build.prop file or replace it and it gets overwritten.
Using the build.prop for protected apps but can't get it to stay.
I am using the latest BLAZEN build from PPCGEEKS/Reefer.
Being an Ext2 file instead of sqsh I figure this would have worked flawless.
I'd really like to download logmein, gbahours, paypal and a few other protected apps. I can't without fixing this build.prop file....
OR
Find some way to get a working fingerprint Google has already approved.
Glad to see I'm not the only one looking into this I have the same problem in my android OS - different phone, but same custom OS. Hopefully this thread won't die - if I ever figure it out I'll be sure to post here as well
Hi there,
I am having some issues with playing flash in my browser. Most flash videos I attempt to play, there is just a black screen with the sound.
Funny thing is, one site I frequent, tsn.ca, when I play the flash video, the commercial works without issue but the main flash video there is just audio and a black screen.
It's been an issue for at least 2 weeks. Not sure when it first started. I update to Cyanogens Nightlys every day.
I have a Nightly backup from March 29th and the video works flawlessly on that rom, but when I download the newest nightly I'm back to the same issue.
Currently running Flash 10.3
ClockworkMod 3.0.2.6
CyanogenMod-7-05252011
Radio - 26.08.04.07_M3
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i had the same problem but it's been remedied with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13956612&postcount=4461
uninstall flash with ti backup (uninstall app & wipe data) then install. it should work.
Sent from my DHD
Thanks. I had tried uninstalling it through the market but that didn't work. I will give it a shot with TIbackup
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Finally got around to trying the fix, still doesn't work. Commercials play without an issue, actual video is just black. So damn annoying. This doesn't appear to be a issue with most people so I have no idea what the heck the problem could be.

Thansk for the help but it did not work. Finally got it working following this directions from another website
To get Flash 10.3 working on the stock browser you need to do two things:
1) force stop the browser process
2) Remove all permissions for /data/data/com.android.browser/app_plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/.macromedia/Flash_Player/config.data
*Fix also works for Dolphin. Just change com.android.browser to mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser
Changing the permissions restricts the flash plugin or the stock browser or the webkit or I dunno what from reading config.data. This file is screwing with video playback of anything over 240p.
What's weird is that the config.data generated for 10.2 and 10.3 appears to be identical, except for the ProductVer string. Since the file contains settings for h264 high, baseline and main profiles, there's probably some change in 10.3 to the way it uses this information.
Either way, this is a bandaid for those that don't wish to use Opera until the heart of the issue is found/addressed.

Perfect, thanks much and works for me too.
For other's not too unix friendly.
start an adb shell, might have to adb remount too
su for superuser rights
cd to go to the affected directories
chmod 000 config.data to revoke rights to the file
Thanks dude! It also works to just delete the plugin folder and install flash again.
Thanks guys, but how do I delete the plugin folder, or remove permissions? I'm a total noob for rooting, please help!

Use any file explorer that can access nand files e.g. root explorer, es file explorer. Just make sure that you have S-OFF and root your phone.

thanks, but the plugins folder apparently doesn't exist on my phone, the only folder within that directory is /lib. I think will try to install 10.2 on my phone and see if that fixes the problem. Perhaps 10.3 and 11 is not supported by the Infused v2 ROM.

Make sure you have root.
Force close all browsers.
Using Root explorer/Fileexpert .. go to /data/data and look for app_plugins folder for each browser.
in app_plugins/com.adobe /.macromedia /Flashplayer
Remove all permissions for config.data file. Do the same for all browsers stock/miren/dolphin etc.
Flash video will work on all sites.
in /data it says that the directory is empty. I'm using File Expert
Anyone else having blank flash player screens?
Im on CM7.1 btw and latest flash player.
** UPDATE**
Fix it with this...

Saw a similar thread in the thunderbolt forum, but not sure if it's the same issue as this kindle fire problem.
I got the app, downloaded the appropriate 'enabler' for windows, ran it successfully... when I take a screenshot with the app, it makes a shutter sound but after that, I'm not prompted to save or edit the screenshot (the tutorial implies I should be).
There's a setting to change where it gets saved, and I played with that... I know it works because if I specify a folder that doesn't exist, it will create it for me. But there's never a PNG or JPG file anywhere in there.
I actually have rooted the thing so I could try another app. Just wondering if there's something simple I'm overlooking for the current app. A search using ES file explorer found no images in my entire SD card (other than facebook icons).
edit: see my last post here... basically I wasn't truly rooted.
ok. Anyone wanna suggest an alternative?

I don't see any DCIM folder? Looking in the SDcard root directory, and mnt/sdcard, and in the device's top-level directory (the one that has root, sys, acct, data, config, etc). I have a pictures folder, but it's just got facebook thumbnails. I have a folder titled "Root" but the file browser I'm using, Root Explorer, claims it can't show the contents because it thinks I don't have root. Though I've gone through the steps and I'm pretty sure I do.
I feel like the picture is simply not being created at all, maybe due to permissions. If I specify I want to save in a place that doesn't exist... say, mnt/sdcard/foobar... it creates that folder. But I don't have any files within this newly created folder.
So it seems like this isn't an issue of the image exists somewhere, but it's just hiding. It's more like it simply doesn't exist. It doesn't turn up using a search either, though all my jpg and png thumbnails do.
Seems like such a simple function, can we truly not screenshot on this device yet without attaching it to a PC?
I was able to figure it out.
I thought I was rooted, but I wasn't... possibly because of an automatic update to 6.3x that broke my root access. I don't know how no-root screenshot-it is meant to work, but when it failed to write files to every folder I tried to choose... I suspect it was because it lacked root permissions.
I ran the latest kindle fire utility, got permanent root, went into extras and got onto google play, and picked the first free screenshot app I saw. It works great. The name seems to just be "screenshot", probably a ripoff of some other app :/
Thanks to everyone who tried to help. I think the bottom line is most apps will work if you truly get root going, and I found the kindle fire utility very easy to use for that... so thanks also the people responsible for that.
Sorry for such a simple question but this is driving me nuts. I'm running the recently released deodexed Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ROM and I am rooted. I want to change some of the system icons and I've found most of them. I'm not having any luck with the phone ico, however.
I found the SecPhone.apk and it looks like that is where it is. But it must be somewhere else because every time I've changed it, I always get the same result...the little green phone.
Here is what I did:
I copied the SecPhone.apk to my computer and replaced the icon with the one I wanted.
I zipped it.
Signed it.
Then changed the zip to apk.
I then pasted the apk to my sdcard on my phone.
I then went into ES Explorer with root access and replaced the apk in /system/app with the new apk and made sure the permissions were correct and then rebooted.
(Note: I tried to install it but it would not let me. I read a how-to that stated placing it in the folder and rebooting would work the same way. Probably not true, looking back on it now.)
After all that (many times) the damn green phone icon pops back up when the phone re-boots, just sitting there, mocking me.
It's probably evident from my post I'm a noob with modding but this seems like it should be much easier than what I'm going through right now. Any help with this is much appreciated. Thank you.
if I'm not mistaken phone n contacts are switchd so to speak.extract the SecContacts.apk like you did phone. find 5 or 6 folders that start with mipmap-xxxx and replace ic_launcher_phone in all of them. Do the same in the drawable folders as well
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a shot. I figured there had to be other copies of that icon and I just hadn't found the right one yet.
You were correct. There are about 10 copies of ic_launcher_phone in the different folders exactly where you stated.
Guess I should match the sizes of the icons I'm replacing too. These can't all be the same dimensions, can they? This is an awful lot of work to change one icon. LOL. Thanks again.

Sort-of. Only the one for your phone's DPI is going to get used, so if you make them all the same it just means you can't run the same .apk on a tablet. Also, it might screw with you if you use HDMI out and the icons get made smaller to match the lower DPI of a monitor (100 vs 300+ on the SGS3), but I don't have the MHL adapter yet so I haven't tried that myself.
Well, unfortunately it didn't work. I did finally get rid of the green phone icon, but mine was no where to be found! Plus, com.phone.blahblah kept forcing close. Whatever I did, 4.1.1 didn't like one bit.
Oh well.
I followed the same process as I put in the OP for this except I did it for both SecPhone.apk and SecContacts.apk. Pasted both with Root Explorer, rebooted and then the home screen would come up, the phone icon was gone and then it would hang and give me the FC error. I just reflashed and gave up for the time being. Hopefully someone has an answer. The only other thing I might try differently is using adb? Would that be a better option than using the Root Explorer copy/paste method?
I wonder if I took the 4.1.1 Rom and opened it and changed the files in that and then flashed the whole ROM again if that would be any better. Would I basically just do the same process I did with the individual apks, except instead of just installing the single apk, the whole ROM goes in with it.
I just can't for the life of me understand why changing png icon images would cause the com.phone process to FC.
Try to use 7zip to extract the icon located in 'res/mipmap-xhdpi' of SecContacts.apk, edit it, and the use 7zip to drop the edited icon directly into the apk. Don't rezip or sign..
That did it! Thank you so much. I actually went ahead replaced all the pngs with my icon in all folders of the SecContacts. I did it first in just the folder you suggested but that didn't change anything. I then changed them all using 7 zip and put them in system/app and rebooted. Boom, Green phone gone! Looks like it was zip/signing problem. 7zip is the answer to my modding woes I guess. Thanks again.

It may be expecting the file to be uncompressed as well - maybe 7z is putting it in the same way it was. The other issue is it needs to be 4-byte aligned, which you can get via the zipalign program that comes with the SDK - and maybe 7z does that automatically as well.
...ok, this has me stumped and I figured someone here might know the answer.
I am trying to change the call connect and the call disconnect tones on my S4. My phone is of course rooted, and I see the sound files located in /system/media/audio/ui - they are in .ogg format. I see the following files (call related):
Call_Connect.ogg
TW_Call_Disconnect.ogg
I replaced both files with the sounds of my choice (same file name, same permissions, same format)...but...when I dial out or disconnect, I get the S4 default connect tone / disconnect tone. I also did a complete factory reset...same result, WTF?
EDIT: Also, I did make sure that the system folder was mounted and writable...
Ok, I want to offer a little more info...
I have:
Made sure the files have the same name. (there are no dupe's in the directory either)
Made sure the files have the same permissions that all other files in that directory have.
Verified the files were updated by listening to them via my root explorer.
Rebooted 6519845619685465196847 times.
Cleared phone app cache, nova launcher cache, and even did a factory reset (dalvik, cache, data).
I even removed the files from that directory all together (which should have killed the call connect and call disconnect notifications)...but the stock ones STILL PLAY...WTF?
Used ADB to open a shell session and LOGCAT to see if I could spot something happening while I placed a call, and came up with nothing relevant, which is weird because if LOGCAT is supposed to show everything the phone is doing, then why is there no information on what sounds are being used for those events...
It is as if the files exist or are cached somewhere else...but I cannot locate any other .ogg or audio file anywhere else on the device at all.
This is driving me insane.

Ok, it wasn't in that file, but it was in the SecPhone.apk file. However, editing that file immediately caused my phone to crap itself. I replaced the two files in the archive and then put that modified file back into /system/app and then rebooted and wiped dalvik and cache. When I got the phone back up, I tried using the phone, and instantly it (over and over I might add) said that com.android.phone has stooped working...oh yeah, and my modified sounds didn't play either.
Guess I'm stuck with the default unless I either learn a lot more about working with Android, or someone hooks me up with some knowledge, or better yet, an app that someone has that can successfully change this.

Ah that actually makes more sense
But.....
Give me the audio files and your ORIGINAL SecPhone.apk and i shall sprinkle some pixie dust on them and watch them merge as one might even use it myself depending on what they sound like (BTW put the audio files and SecPhone.apk into a folder and zip that folder then attach the zip)
