A forum search turned up nothing, so I'm asking here:
On most Android phones, you usually go to Settings->About Phone and look under the "Kernel Version" section to see the name and version of the kernel you are running.
With my Galaxy Nexus, I don't see kernel names. Instead, I see something like:
Code:
3.0.31-g6fb96c9
[email protected])
#1 SMP PREEMPTY Thu Jun 28 11:02:39 PDT
2012
No matter which kernel I flash, it always seems like the same type of info but no names or version numbers.
I was okay with that as long as I remembered what I flashed last. However, I recently reverted to stock but the kernel looks like it stayed the same. Is there anyway to check if I'm back on stock kernel or still running the last kernel flashed (franco, in my case)?
I'm running leankernel 4.3.0 it says the version

Most (if not all) kernels have a name similar to stock. But there is usually something amongst the numbers and letters which point to what kernel your running.
For instance my phone running trinity.
I know its trinity because it says dirtymorfic, morfic being the xda name of the trinity kernel developer. I only use stock kernel and trinity so can't comment on the others, but it will always look similar but also always have something pointing to the kernel your using. Hope this helps

Also typing code below in terminal will give you some more bits of info.
Code:
cat /proc/version

1. Kernel and rom are developed much earlier, you weren't cheated.
2. Video clarity? Do you mean the video recording quality or the screen quality?
im running cm12 (android 5.1.) on my lg d855 right now, and it shows my kernel version in the "about phone" category.
I just followed the instructions of qbking77's video walking through the note toolkit v4.1.0
I have granted access for root and i see the superSU app on my
I have created a backup to my external sd card bc my pc has only 800 mb available.
Now i feel like my next step is to "flash a rom". Is this correct. Which ones can and can't i install. I looked at this labrats bc/ it was popular but it is saying it is 4.1.1 while i am at 4.1.2 for my android version.

To my understanding, 4.1.2 allows home screen rotation and minor performance enhancing (i may be wrong) but if you flash a rom and it puts you on 4.1.1 its not a big deal as there are mods you can flash that will enable that option and it's actually built in to some roms. There's tw (touchwiz) roms and there's aosp roms, I suggest you do your research about the difference between the two before flashing either and of course make a backup before flashing anything in case something goes wrong. I also suggest no matter what rom you flash read the OP and at least the first and last 10 pages of that thread, that will give you a good idea as to what issues users have ran into and most likely the fix. Im no expert by any means and I do more reading than posting because just about any question i have has been asked and answered already. You can't go wrong with any tw rom and they all have different mods/tweaks...nothing wrong with trying them all...and the developers are incredible and more than willing to help you out (users are too) as long as you did your part in trying to find the answer your looking for before posting in they're threads. I can't say much for aosp because I stick with tw but I'm sure the devs/users there would help out as well. I can't stress enough about doing your research before flashing anything and always make a backup first. You had a successful root so your off to a good start, good luck man
Sorry about this, but i cant post in the dev section yet as i do not have 10 posts (but im working on it) i have installed jammison's infamous 1.1 and im having some issues, i cannot open the browser, I keep getting error" Unfortunately, Browster has stopped"

Hi there,
I'm searching for a working fuse.ko to be able to mount ENCFS encrypted folders and maybe ntfs-3g partitions...
I am using stock kernel, still locked bootloader, but at least full rooted device.
It's single sim C1905, 4.3 JB, 15.4.A.1.9 and I tried any fuse.ko module I could find. None is working (the usual exec format error). All are compiled against android 4.1 or 4.2 with kernels less than 3.4...
Code:
# uname -a
Linux localhost 3.4.0 #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri May 9 12:55:32 CST 2014 armv7l GNU/Linux
Has anyone yet compiled a working fuse.ko for this kernel?
How could I do it myself - I have no idea if it can be done in the phone itself (kernel-sources? gcc?)
Any help appreciated.... thanks!
Well i had compiled it. But for myself and that kernel was only compatible with 4.1 it's very easy to get ntfs support. Just dig around github and cherry-pick it.

Hi All.
I am new to XDA so please be gentle and I need some help.
I have a GROM V-Line system installed and it has been giving me hell these last 11 months and I am unable to get a refund from the buyer. It is android powered and uses a custom rom etc. I was wondering if anyone out there has any knowledge of these units and can guide me through a way to maybe update the system to remove custom ROMs so I can use it as a normal android type device.
The current set up is running on Android 5.1.1
Kernel version: 3.10.0 [email protected] #11
Build number: Lite_VL1.6.0.0
Not sure if there is anything I could, I am ready for throwing this out of my motor now.
Please help.

Hi Ta,
I installed the Vline VL2 in my Lexus two weeks ago and initially had issues.
Here's my versions out of the box.
System update is Android 8.1 with last security patch dated Jan 5, 2019 and won't update further.
Kernel: (gcc version 6.3.q 20170404 (Linaro GCC 6.3-2017.05))
[email protected] #3
Fri Mar 19 05:27:15 PDT 2021
Vline shows VCore: V20VL3.37.0.0
VBase: 32.38 (L22)
No further updates available.
DashLinq version: 5.5.2.5
Knob Helper version: 1.0
WebView Shell version: 1.0

I was initially pissed too but after several resets my system is pretty stable.
One item that remains an issue is crashing when I have any SD card installed...As long as no SD card installed then system runs pretty good.
Several issues via launch controller were fixed with a $1.99 replacement launcher named AGAMA by altercars.ru. https://altercars.ru/#about
