Hi,
I rooted my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc which was on ICS OS. Before rooting I used the SE Back and Restore application to take my backup. After the root was completed, I copied the apk file for the same from my PC to the root SD folder (also tried updating the build.prop file and deskclock.apk as was mentioned in some other forum).
Now when I try to install the backup and restore apk file, it just doesnot install. Screenshot attached. I really need help in restoring all my data.

Flash back to v2.3 Gingerbread, restore all your data, root, install CWM, run a Nandroid backup.
Upgrade to ICS, restore.
Or use third party programs:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync
If you have root install titanium backup this will back up and restore from a back up.
This feature is available in pro version not sure if available in free version.

You will have to find an Xperia Phone running Stock 2.3 firmware.
Then you can use your backup and restore the contacts to the phone.
Sync the contacts with Google and Voila!
Let me know if it works!!
Xperia 2012 backup and restore app is here since xperia s was released, but until now no one attempt to port this on our 2011 phones.
Hope someone could successfuly port this app.
its like a titanium backup but it doesnt need root privileges.
I want to completely delete my home launcher and make the GO launcher my official and only launcher on my rom. Is that possible? How can I do it?
Get a app like titanium back up and install go launcher as a system app and then after that's done just delete the stock home....I would suggest you just freeze it though in case anything goes wrong....and also don't forget to do a nandroid back up

You dont want to delete the home launcher if you didnt create a nandroid backup. If you delete the home launcher and you dont have a third party launcher installed you get stuck with a black screen.

That's why you install go launcher first before you delete the other launcher

Yesterday I received the OTA update ".244". I was on.423 earlier. So I started making backups. I used PCC for some part and sony backup and restore app in the phone for other. But after the successful update and a a successful factory reset, when I Tried restoring backups from both PCC. and backup n restore app(on phone), the PCC said backup on the phone currupted and restarted my phone. I thought there might hv been an error so started restoring again. But it failed yet again and restarted my phone. This same thing happened when I tried the backup and restore app.
I have the backup data on my pc and my microsd but cant restore. My phone is stock, locked, non rooted.
Help please!
Have had the same issue after updating to .244. The Reason is that the old android 4.1...Backups are not compatible to Android 4.2.... Someone said later that there is a message in pcc for that before updating......I did not recognize this message....anyway..... you have to do everything from scratch.

My frnd, .423 IS android 4.2. This new update is a performance tweak and the one I updated TO is also android 4.2, that is, the. 244 update.
I know 4.1 backup wont work on 4.2, but we r talkin abt android 4.2 only!
