IMO, that is a flex cable fault (buttons, screen, front camera and als sensor are all linked to it, if I'm not mistaken).
you should bring it to the repair shop, but if you have no warranty, maybe you could try replacing the flex cable on your own

flex cable for sure...

Hello XDA ..
My G2 LCD stopped working for no reason .. It started flickering and losing colors two days ago .. and yesterday it went completely black .. I did not drop the phone or damage it anyhow ..
I opened it up and checked all connections and it looked fine .. the LED and digitizer screen work fine as well as the capacitive buttons at the bottom so I figured it is not a connection problem ..
I had Cyanegon on it for like 5 months and never had an issue .. I recently installed Virtious Sense ROM and I have been switching between the two the past week ..
My question is ,, do you think it is a software problem for example the lcd driver got messed ..?? or is it just the lcd was broken somehow
I am intending to buy a new lcd and replace the one I have now but I thought I should make sure that the one I currently have is actually broken before I replace it ..
Thank you,,
Edu
PS: if you can think of an easy way to check the functionality of the LCD let me know ..
Its rather hard for a software (even if it is firmware) to cause problems to an LCD. If you can se the backlight turning on but the screen not showing anything, i suggest you start trying out some unbricking methods.
Now, if the screen doesnt turn on AT ALL, then its possibly a hardware fault. The only way to be sure is to have an extra lcd available to connect to it. You could also try and give your lcd to someone with a Desire Z to try out your lcd on his phone and see what happens.
The "easiest" way though is to get a new one.
is the ribbon cable connecting the screen to keyboard damaged?

same happened to my phone
hello. I tried to exchange the display. Everything away, clean display, everything plugged in and screwed. But when I tried to turn it on, nothing happens. No vibration, nothing. The display also shows nothing. I play with the battery in it hung in the charging cable to it. Normally, the power button light up the orange LED. But even then nothing happens. Did I forget anything? Or the play is scrap?

I've changed the touchscreen not the LCD o:
and yes normally I've connect the connecters right how it was (I've watched the tutorial how to change the touchscreen more than 2 times o.o) Do you really think its still alive? o.o
sooo.... about a month ago my phone stopped working just booted to the Sony Ericson screen i have not warranty so it thought id have a look in to this . first thing i did was connect it to the computer this allowed the phone to boot normally but the touch screen wouldn't work but as soon as the usb was disconnected it would reset and get stuck at the logo again. so i turned it off and left it for 24 hours when i tried it again the screen boots normally but the touch screen isnt working i can navigate with the joypad tho. i have done a factory reset and updates etc still no luck so i have tried replacing the digitizer still nothing .
so basically at the moment i cant get the touch screen to work any ideas
thanks for any responses

It might work because the coding for the touchscreen is in the firmware

Hey did you try this? I'm trying to resurrect my R800i but I seem to have the same problem with my touchscreen not working. I tried the old cracked touchscreen digitizer which was working before I replaced it with this current one but that did not work. I even changed the main flex cable ribbon last night with a new. That just fixed the screen scrambling sometimes and the accelerometer issue but did not fix the touchscreen issue.
If anyone else can help also I'd really appreciate it. I may just go ahead and back up the phone and game data especially then flash a new ROM.
So i have a big problem with my xperia arc s. after i bought it from ebay i flashed it with ultimate hd 3.02 .. and then i flashed lupus v10 kernel .. everything was ok but after sometime it started showing problems it started to freeze all of a sudden and then it used to shutdown by it self and when i try to turn it on nothing will happen . and after some indefinite time it will turn on again . after some days it turned off and never turned on , no matter how much i tried . so i went to the sony care center they said mother board is dead. so i was totally hopeless but after 2 months .. i was just curious and i tried to charge the mobile and surprisingly the green light turned on which meant it was getting charged which never happened before .. i pressed the switch and it turned on . it worked totally fine for around 2 hours and then it froze again and it wont turn on any more . so i just cant figure out whats wrong with the phone.. PLZ help.. any help is appreciated ..thanks
Did you try to restore stock firmware at any point? Either with Flashtool or PC Companion or EMMA?

Thanks for the reply kanaksharma .. i will contact u as soon as i get back to home .. which might take a few days ... at least i hv some hope now
If the Sony centre said the motherboard had problems, I'm not sure you will be able to repair it completely without sending it to repair for a new motherboard.

yeah i know but there is no harm in trying ..
This is exactly the same issue I had. I solved it by replacing the mainboard / motherboard. Read my thread about it here:

The only way to fix this is by replacing the mainboard / motherboard.

I have 2 years old OneX. Everthing was going fine. And suddenly I started to have some yellow spots on the screen at two places. I ignored them. Then problem increased. Now whenever I unlocked the phone my screen used to jump around. Like bottom portion of the display used to come at top etc etc. And their were pink glitches everywhere black colour was supposed to come (i.e. black color appeared pink).
I changed the rom to see if it solved the problem. Now, its getting worse.
Now i cant turn the screen on. I push power button and screen does not show. I get a call and screen does not light up and I randomly push the accept button (I know where accept button comes) to recieve the call. :crying:
The only way to make the screen come alive is by pressing the back of the phone. I push the back few times here and there and voila, screen comes on. But thats not the solution. I tried to locate the exact position where pressing the back makes the screen work. But cant locate it. Location is random.
So should I open my phone to check if there is any faulty cable or what ? Or is my phone dying ? I cant afford a new phone.. :crying:
If you don't have warranty you can open it up. It's already almost not working anyway so what's there to loose ? Maybe it's just a connector which needs a little push....maybe it's the display + digitizer/mainboard.

I found the problem and its solution... I will have to gather enough courage to open up my phone...
Temporary solution is twisting the phone.
