Switched from ios to android - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Just got my note 3 on Monday. Had an iPhone 4s before. Now it seems some ppl that used iMessage that try to text me it won't let them text me it just says I'm still connected to iMessage but doesn't go through. I have turned off iMessage on my iPhone already and that hasn't worked. Any suggestions?

dude same thing happened to me... i called apple support and they put me in touch with some higher level technician... he was the only one that could fix it, it took about 3 days and a few calls to finally figure it out.

Make sure your friends have a phone number for you in their contacts first. Second tell your friend in imessage to click the red error icon and tell it to send as sms. Then future messages should go as sms.

Yeah I tried that with my sisters iPhone but I don't really want to tell all my friends with an iPhone to do that thought there would be an easier way. Thanks though.

It doesn't take a "high level technician." Just google it. You log in to one of Apple's sites and disable/deactivate that phone number from your iTunes account. The problems will immediately fix.

Go to iCloud.com and remove your phone from find my iPhone. Then on your iPhone turn off/delete your iCloud account. Also turn off iMessage and FaceTime. I had this issue as well and doing the following helped me solve it.

Here is how to fix it:
I hope you still have the iPhone. Take the sim card from your phone and place it back to your iPhone.
Go to settings, messages, then switch off imessage.
The reason why you need the sim card is because without it, under send and receive, your phone number is still activated but grayed out.
Once that is done, you can place your sim card back to your Note 3.
Have one of your iPhone friends try to text you to test it out.

Why would he be using the SIM from the IPhone in his N3? The N3 would have its own SIM which has ISIS support in it.

I never said his iPhone sim. One needs the current sim card that has the phone number activated to it to go to the iPhone to be able to fully disable iMessage.
iMessage still has his phone number linked to the phone, sim card or not. One needs to turn it off.

The big security flaw is using your phone on ANY cell phone service. They track who you call, how long your calls are, who you txt, what the txt is, what cell towers you're connected to, when you pay your bill, with what credit card or check, also your name, address, oh and they know your phone number!

I guess there is some consumer appeal, but really, why buy a Nexus if you have no interest in an unlocked phone? My decision to buy a Nexus was far less about firmware updates than it was about my right to own the hardware that I paid for.
To be honest, I didn't read the thread (shame on me), but these topics puzzle me. To each his own.
Google Wallet has some security risks in general for any device. Recently read the following from droidforums..... http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...s-news+(DroidForums.net+News+::+Android+News)

I'll root when CM9 hits beta or if a good stable nightly.
Yes, but so far only to be able to restore app data (ie Angry Birds) from my old phone. I'm totally cool with the built-in ICS disable/freeze feature for the apps I don't want, I think that's an extremely fair compromise over rooting and deleting the apk/so files.
Not too concerned about Wallet yet, we'll see how that pans out if it's something we'll need to root for or just something we can head to the Market and install without any issue. I would like to try it out and have zero confidence that the competing ISIS thing won't completely suck in comparison, so if root is needed, root it is!

If you want a private conversation phones are not the way to go. Back in the day we had to hard tap your line for LE with warrant. Now with CALEA and digital switches they can monitor traffic anywhere anytime w/o warrant.
Sometimes we put lines on speaker all day to monitor for noise. If your neighbor had wet line issue or cross talk we might monitor your line for noise. I worked in a 900 number telephone switch in California we have to check lines for "traffic" or people talking before working on them. It was awkward. Now I can monitor phone calls from my computer. Of coarse I don't unless it is for work I don't want to end up in Guantanamo.
Wow how off topic WTF happened?

SFL: your phone can be traced by the following numbers:

So I guess my mom is tracking my phone with the sprint family locator, one I figure this will drain battery because my location will constantly be sent, two I don't want my mother knowing when I'm getting high (jk, but I do enjoy privacy), and 3 I beleive she's tracking my father to. This wouldn't be bad except he doesn't want her to, not to bring you guys into my family life, but they just got divorced and long story short they don't trust each other and my father doesn't want her tracking his phone as she's lied to him about this tracking thing before.
SFL is most likely a hidden stock all or just something like ciq hidden in running programs somewhere.
My question : Is there a way I can prevent it from tracking my father and my phones? Such as deleting the service, in installing the app through root, or any way really.
Second question, if I did this would she know through say a notification we cannot be tracked anymore, or perhaps it just won't show up at all?
Thanks guys.

Actually, I have had the locator still able to find phones even if the person has GPS extra off. The only way is to use roam control and use verizons tower. I'm not one hundred percent sure, but I think the locator triangulates your location from the cell phone towers.

Yeah but you could drive around where it says they are all day and not find them. Not that that isn't the case with gps in a building as well. I get good reception for gps in my house but the accuracy bounces around to wider than this block a lot of the time.
If your under 18 there isn't much to say. People want to be left alone and or rebel. But when your a minor and a dependent of someone not only is anything you own their property they are responsible for you.

Just force roam, I don't think there is any other way honestly. But I know that is a for sure method.

The phone triangulates off the towers. It shouldn't matter if you turn GPS off. The force roam idea may work, if he keeps his GPS off. Depending on how often she is checking it, she'll know something is up if the phone is on and the service is not working. (Trust me, I get calls like this all the time.) If you do a change of ownership you keep the same phone number, same contract dates, no ETF, thus you would still get his upgrade. If you roam too much you'll get terminated. Best solution is get a boost mobile and use *73 and leave the sprint phone at home when he's traveling.
She may still catch on, but it could take a while.
If you have a Google voice number integrated with your sprint number it will prevent sfl from obtaining your location. It did for me anyways. It either doesn't affect everyone or others haven't noticed. I haven't found any official confirmation anywhere yet.

My point was there is probably no way to stop her from tracking him, seeing what numbers he calls and texts. With the phone in her name, unfortunately for you and him, there is no way to stop it. Also even without sfl, she can see any number he texts by requesting the info from sprints security department. I have done it myself. its an easy process.

[Q] Trouble Receiving Text Messages From Friends W/ iPhones

Hello,
My wife has an iPhone 4 on AT&T and I of course have an S3 on T-Mo. I also have another friend with an iPhone 4 on Verizon and I cannot for the life of me figure out why I cannot get texts from them. I can easily get texts from everyone else BUT them iPhone. Is there an issue with my phone? I've tried Googling the answer, and I'll I'm reading is responses like "That is Apple for you." but can I get a technical response or an idea of what I can do to remedy the situation?
Thanks all! :good:
GS3 dont play well with iphones. Everytime an iphone user sends me a MMS all i get is tiny thumbnail. seems the sms/mms issue has been discussed here but i havent had a real answer yet :/
I get pix from iPhone users daily with no problem.... I've gotten over a hundred MMS and over 6000 texts from people with iPhones over the last month or so... not sure what to tell you.
Tell them to get an android.. duh
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
First off, that's gonna be hard to pinpoint. Why? Because a text is a text unless the iPhone is doing some sort of encoding magic that the Galaxy S3 somehow rejects but that shouldn't be the case because if it was, it would be an android issue. And at the end of the day, texting between the Galaxy S3 and iPhone work just fine because I have friends with iPhones and I received their texts without any issues. So it has to be something to do with your specific phone.
Have you tried putting your SIM card to different phone and seeing if you get the texts then? And also have you tried someone else's SIM card in your phone/just going and getting a new SIM from T-Mobile?

Hey all, thanks for the pointers. I'll check my SIM today. I do have a backup micro SIM actually!
If you had an IPhone as well before you could be linked to Apple ID. If that's the case when iPhone sends you message it detects its linked to ID and your Galaxy will never get it. Hope that sends you in right direction to solve it.

I actually DID have an iPhone 4 before switching back to the Android platform. Let me look into the Apple ID situation and I'll report back! Thanks! :good:
Well I fixed my phone. It WAS related to the Apple ID. Like I said, I had an iPhone before the S3 and when I had the iPhone on and left on Wi-Fi people's iMessage was pointing their texts to that phone. I wiped the phone (as I'm about to sell it) and that fixed the problem.

Android device manager? It can only remotely swipe if you have given it Admin permission in your google settings, but it can and will locate the phone.

Android Device Manager works pretty much just like Apples Find My iPhone. It allows you to locate the device on a map and remotely wipe it.
However, with the One you have to actually go into the settings and enable it.
Unfortunately, as others have said, even if it were enabled, your friend has already turned the service to the One off, so the only way I can see would be if the One connects to a WiFi network.

So instead of giving him the phone and going home to your family you will try to draw your weapon and either kill someone or be killed? All for $600? The lawyer will charge you 50x that just to get you out of the slammer. Give the guy the phone and go home and hug your kids, your wife, your mother or all of the above. Use the gun for target practice.

The minute someone draws a weapon on you, your life is gravely in danger. You respond according by handing over your belongings and tucking your tail then ending up in the paper because they raped your girlfriend in front of you, stole your phone and executed you. I prefer just to end the altercation with my 45. I'll take court over that.

I prefer just to end the altercation with my 45. I'll take court over that.

but if he already has his gun pulled and he sees you going for something like a gun, he shoots, then claims self-defense.

Cannot receive text messages from iPhone users using iMessage.

First thing you need to know is that I've never owned an Apple device. I've been having this issue ever since Apple upgraded to iOS 6 & 7. My girlfriend and some of my friends are iPhone users, and sometimes they send me messages but I receive them late or even never receive them at all. Sometimes I get their text that got mixed with a text that they sent sometime before (even from convos that are days or weeks old) in the SAME message (WTF?). I event get spammed by the same message 5+ times, example http://i.imgur.com/ij8GtPu.jpg which is annoying and ridiculous!
Ive searched the web and did not find a single solution, only thousands of people complaining with no fix. The only solution to this is to use another chat app with the other person, which is really hard to convince someone to do that. Especially Apple fanboys and fangirls like my GF. I suggested Whatsapp or Hangouts and even suggested her to disable iMessage (there's a feature that lets you disable the iMessage feature so the iMessage app only sends SMS to the users) which my GF denied also. -_-
TLDR: I don't get texts and people wait for me to respond and think that I'm ignoring them or I get spammed. How to fix pls?
Edit #1: I've never been an Apple user so "disconnecting" my number from iMessage by sending a "STOP" text to 48369 probably wont help. BUT I did try it today and we'll see if that works lol...
Edit #2: Oh the irony... http://i.imgur.com/7gmUN54.png
Edit #3: My phone is stock. Never did any modding.
IMO, not much can be done on Android side but I remember reading a great article about this issue.

Yeah that doesn't work. I don't receive a text with the code unfortunately.

I've had it since early 2011, so almost 5 years. It was a new T-Mobile number too, I got to pick the last four digits.

I would maybe call Apple support. Even though you don't have an apple device it seems their system thinks that your number is register for imessage.
