[Q] SGH-317M ROMs - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I've tried to find this information because I am sure that it must have come up before but cannot seem to find it.
As the title says, I have SGH-317M Note II (rooted and unlocked already) and was wondering when choosing a ROM which ones are ok to load; The N7100 or N7105?
I haven't seen any SGH-317M specific ROMs so I assume that one of these two are the correct ones.
Any help is very appreciated.

I believe your device is a LTE device.
So, it would be better if you use N7105, but you have to prepare the modem and kernel of your own device.
N7105 rom runs well on T-mob Note2, as well as the other way around, but with a proper modem and kernel of our own device.
That's what I know, and what I've tried (use T-mob ROM into my device), I'm not sure about your device.
But for safe, do backup of your IMEI / efs, in case corrupted during the flashing of custom ROM. at least, you will have a backup of your IMEI / efs to restore.

Hi antique_sonic,
Thank you for your reply. First of all, "Yes" my device is an LTE device so I will stick with the N7105 ROMs.
If I update the ROM on my Note2 will my Kernel and Modem change?
Or are you saying that when I load a new ROM I must update to a Kernel and Modem that works well with that specific ROM?
On my past Android devices updating the Modems and Kernels was always a separate choice if I wanted to update them and was never tied to a ROM. Is this different on the Note2?
Cheers,
Dave

Sorry... I just read ur reply.
Most of lte custom tw rom will ask u whether u want to change or keep. I always choose to keep mine.
In case the rom u choose force u to change, u can always flash back ur own modem nd csc files.
But go and find the modem and csc for ur device nd region first to be safe in case things go wrong.
=)

Hey thanks again for the reply. Can you point me in the direction of where I can find the Modem and CSC files or instructional links? All the files I have found were the original carriers ROM images.
Sorry for the trouble, still trying to ramp up on the note 2

I m sorry I have no idea where to find modem nd csc for ur model.
I only know N7105.

[Q] please help me!

I have a galaxy note 2 lte sgh-i317m model of Mexico, Telcel company.
I want to install cyanogenmod 10.2 but can not find any post from my model
does this ROM in my model? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2384231
please help
yes, it is supported. You can flash any ATT (t0lteatt) or international gt 7105 (t0lte) ROM... they are compatible with Telcel i317m.
Always remember to make a nandroid backup first. TWRP lets you restore modem stuff from it in case a ROM overwrites it... (which is not the case for CM based ROMs... but some touchwiz ROMs like to include modems and CSC).

Need some help asap with a new rom

Hi everyone, basically i have a galaxy note N7105 and when i first got it, i was helped on here by someone to root it and install a custom rom, which i did, that was almost a year ago haha
I have since seen alot of new roms on here and wondered if anyone could help me.
I know how to install a rom onto the phone and gapps ect, but wondered if anyone could tell me if there was a rom which has the same as note 3?
I dont use the pen so thats not a problem, I just want to update my phone as i've been using WANNAMLITE which is now outdated.

I basically want to know if there is a rom already out for the N7105 which basically makes the note 2 like the note 3?
If you want the same feature as Note 3, our N7105 currently don't have (as in ROM originally made for N7105).
But you can try SkyNote from AT&T forum, search & read first before you flash, make sure you understand how it works to flash this ROM onto your device N7105.
If you don't care about the feature from Note 3, you can use some of the AOSP ROM, which is now I think the most ROM developed for N7105 (CM based).
If you just want to update to 4.3, with KNOX-free, you can use LIONrom. This is for our N7105, but it is purely stock, modded KNOX (knox free), rooted, deodexed. So far I use this one, I never face any problem as stated by other user.
All your choice mate.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply, Its the note 3 features that im after, I've been on the same rom for ages now and decided i wanted a change, and thought i'd give the note 3 a go on my note 2, but im not sure which rom best acts as a note 3.
obviously with as least amount of problems as possible.
I've read some of them lose wifi, and some of them aint giving the correct 4g ect ect.
if you just want to experience the note 3 features try searching play store there are some apps that gives you note 3 features

That was why I said, read and understand first about the ROM before u flash.
If u follow the OP instructions, very less chance of the problems occur.
Most ppl are not following instructions, or just do a dirty flash, got problem, and blame on the rom.
Wifi if u flash devil kernel it will fix it.
4g normally due to modem not compatible with ur region., u have to check with OP whether rom will be compatible with other modem or not.
Good luck mate.

[Q] Need clarification on roms for T889V

Hello people,
I am sorry I have to make a new thread
I have a t889v note 2 on 4.3, rooted, with videotron 4.3 using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1975560 rom, baseband T889VVLUCMK4 and I want a piece of that kitkat action. I have used EFS professional to backup NV items because I don't want to end up with a f****d up IMEI number with no reception, but I'm not sure Im in the clear to test out different roms.
This is the reason for my post, I want to know which roms I would be the safest with. I have read so many conflicting posts on this I don't feel confident enough to make a judgement call. Does t0lte roms include any modem that would conflict with my t889v modem/baseband? What about t0ltetmo ? I understand that's the part where t-mobile comes in but this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...06&postcount=8 says I shouldn't ever use t0ltemo, but would t889v not be closer to t889 than GT-N7105 ? In the same thread people are saying they flash t-mobile roms and then just flash the canadian modem on top and it works fine, but I would rather not mess anything up the first time around.
Anyone care enough to help? Basically I just want to know what to look for in my rom selection, I understand I don't want a rom with a built-in modem, but this is conflicting too, omnirom early builds have no modem while later builds have one?

I'm guessing you've been deterred by my post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2684412
In my experience, ROMs for the GT-N7105 work fine. You can also try other ROMs for AT&T, and Sprint, they are usually ok. I think there are many other posts on this on XDA, so have a look.
The moral of the story is, make sure to back up your EFS partition. It's that simple.
if it is a rom that you flash in recovery you should be fine. they don't usually contain a modem or bootloader that would bork your install. You should be able to flash att, tmo, or n7105 roms with no problem
Thank you very much to both of you, very appreciated.
I went on to install omnirom 4.4 but Im not really liking the multiwindow, its a poor experience compared to touchwiz, I might eventually switch to a touchwiz ui based rom to get note 3 features and all the goodies, Im not sure yet.
As long as you don't flash a non T889V modem you should be good. When in doubt, nothing stops you from checking the zip or tar to see if it includes a modem, and removing it if needed.
If you haven't seen it yet, some recoveries recently had issues after flashing KitKat ROMs where your IMEI would show as unknown along with the phone not having service. Flashing the same ROM with another, updated, recovery fixes it.

n900w8 Baseband Unknown

Just like the title says.
I have the n900w8 variant of the note 3 which works in canada and mexico. not sure about other countries. So I installed the hyperdrive rom that is for the n900t model.
It works awesome i had to flash some fixes now when i try to flash one of the s5 ports for the n900t or n9005 which both of them are compatible I get the unknown baseband and no imei issue. I hope someone in here can help me.
i have to mention that i made a nandroid backup and after the rom is flashed I flash the back up but only restoring Modem and Efs. still same issue.

There's a few guys that can (or rather willing to) do bling builds. But the problem with blind builds is, you cannot test them. Not too many dev's from Canada. Sorry. As I get time, i will work with Allen on W9008 buids if there's enough people to warrant the time and effort.

The only way you can solve the imei and baseband
issue is to Odin flash the original STOCK firmware.
After Odin flashing you can root the phone
and flash a custom recovery if you like.
You can also flash a custom rom which was
created for your specific phone's model.
Then just be careful of what you flash in
the future.
You can find the original STOCK ODIN (TAR) firmware
at http://sammobile.com
Good luck!
working now

Hi there,
Mind helping me? I ended up having unknown Baseband and IMEI null during lollipop upgrade. I tried flashing back to original stock rom both kitkat and lollipop but I still got same issues. I ended up rooting the phone and currently running twrp. I'm just at lost right now on what else to do. I'm thinking of putting custom ROM but I"m not sure with one will work. I have SM-N900W8 Canadian version.

SGH-T889 turned into a 7100, can this be fixed?

So I was running 4.4.4 (I forget who's build) and I just did a search on marshmallow and I saw a CM 13 so I flashed it without reading. I know, stupid noob. Anyways, my phone now says it is a GT-N7105 on android 6.0.1.
I do not like it. Before I try, I was curious if anyone knows if flashing it back is possible.
Thanks
N7100 or N7105?
i317, N7105, T889 are universal and every lollipop(?)+ROM will be branded as N7105 to my knowledge since there's no reason to maintain three different sources

I don't think there's no practical reason to not like that "cosmetic" change, but can understand the feeling. If you really can't stand it so much, you can get a build prop editor and change the model name yourself. I don't think there's any app relying on that info nowadays.
On the other hand, I kind a wonder if those three models are exact same ("universal") down to PIT level. Not that it matters unless you want to increase the size of userdata or something.
Boot into download mode to confirm the phone's model #. Once you have the model #, find the latest firmware from sammobile.com and flash it via Odin.
